The Best Portland Cafes With Free Wi-Fi For Remote Work | Eater Portland

"Hector Zamora’s coffee shop isn’t the stuff of Instagram-y neon signs and plants falling all over each other. Instead, his colorful, vibrant cafe allows for ample seating and a relaxed environment to get all that work done. His fourth-wave outfit — highlighting the work of his coffee farms in Guatemala where his family originates — is easy to drive to, to boot." - Paolo Bicchieri

Portland’s Cafe Culture Is Changing. These Coffee Businesses Call It a New Wave. - Eater Portland

"On a late summer afternoon, the sun beating through the windows of his Southeast Portland cafe, he’s elbow-deep in the coffee, serving it and theorizing how to make it less harmful to the planet and its producers." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
This is in my top 3 favorite places to get espresso / coffee in Portland. The staff are also kind and friendly. It is decidedly the best value coffee shop in the area - a quad shot latte with syrup is about $5. Their espresso drinks are smooth and rich as well. I have not yet had a bad or even an “of” drink from this cafe. PS: I recommend the cardamom latte!

Got the chagacino with oat milk, so good! The mushrooms were subtle and support digestion. Super delicious coffee and nice staff

Café Zamora is a Portland gem. Fantastic coffee available packaged or by the cup, Guatemalan tamales, and cool shop setup. The owner (Hector) is such a friendly guy who is always fun to talk to. They have a really great story and socially conscious business model. I recently bought some of their coffee as presents via their website and was amazed at how quickly and effectively it got delivered. Highly recommend checking them out at the shop or by buying their beans at Market of Choice or online!

Incredible coffee. I recommend the mocha. The owner always makes it a pleasant experience.

Google
This place is really picking up! I love it!! And I'm so happy the owner is getting more business than last year. A bagel shop moved in under the same roof, and now there are more food options readily available, when you go here to get coffee or other beverage. The decor is pretty cool, not boring hum-drum at allll. The atmosphere allows for friendliness among strangers. ❤️ Prices are...competitive. And they have alt-milk options including coconut (which is at some places not available). Highly recommend!!

Google
Best stop for coffee we made during a week visit to Portland. Delicious latte with great service and very reasonable prices too.

Google
This is the best coffee in Portland! Love getting a latte when I come to pick up my beans and always nice to see the owner, Hector.

Google
Best mocha I've ever had! This was my first time in, and I wanted to try their standard mocha. I almost always have to ask for more chocolate, and was super happy to find it on the sweet side. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
I love coming here for a morning coffee. The staff are so friendly, and the story is great as well. I especially like that Hector supports local artisans, collaborating and sharing his space often.

Yelp
Ordered a double trouble bagel from puddletown bagels inside this location. I clearly communicated I wanted bacon, and extra cream cheese. Got sausage and barely any cream cheese. Awful.

Yelp
A cafe we root hard for to succeed as Hector, the owner, is one of the nicest, most community oriented, and hardest working people we've met in the neighborhood. We've been regular patrons when Cafe Zamora was located on Gladstone and am so happy to see it move to the John's Marketplace food carts as it should generate more traffic. The coffee is sourced from Guatemala and sharing the space with Puddletown Bagels is another bonus. Go grab a drink and get to know Hector!

Yelp
Love to hear about small business success like Cafe Zamora. I came here because the TikTok community is making a buzz... I can see why Yelpers. My experience was great and the service as well as the Cafe Latte was amazing. I am definitely a return customer and definitely come to Cafe Zamora. So let it be said... So let it be Brewed. Well done Mr.Zamora!!

Yelp
Great coffee sourced directly. Great service and shared a space with some of the best bagels around, Puddletown!

Yelp
First time to this cozy coffee shop in Portland and I cannot wait to be back! It was calm, clean and very inviting. I ordered an americano and husband a latte and they were delicious! Two things that stood out to me: 1)The owner is the farmer himself and wants to remove as many middle people as possible and provide a better pay for his employees back in Guatemala to hopefully have a better quality of life! I mean that's huge! It's very rare to have owners who thing about their team in this capacity. 2)He will be offering granizadas! Which is the Guatemalan take on shaved ice. My inner child was beyond excited and transported me back to Mi Pueblo. The owner, Hector will have different activities that you can keep up to date on his IG @cafezamorapdx. I can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Excellent coffee, excellent cause. This is what farm-to-table community coffee shops should be. They grow the coffee they roast and serve, and it's delicious!Outstanding business! The only thing I might encourage them to do is explore local organic grass-fed milk sources to compliment their coffee. I understand they're still trying to get up and running again after Covid shut-downs, but it would be a logical step. I wish them luck, and look forward to stopping in for another cup when next I'm in town. Highly recommended!

Yelp
What a great local coffeeshop, where the owners sell their home-grown coffee beans from their own farms in Guatemala. This family, the mother and siblings, have endured quite a lot to get here. Located on SE Gladstone, two blocks from the intersection with SE 39th, the owner has walked the path to acquire this shop in the year before the pandemic from his own hard work and his family's support. Allow me to give you a synopsis and the special reason to motivate you to check their location out in person. His father passed when he was young, and their mother had to pick up the pieces and the farm. Supported financially by one brother in the U.S., and then slowly working his way up by cooking fast food, washing at a lab, to saving for a car to drive Lyft and doing that in addition, he was able to meet a Guatemalan Roaster. Starting with a thousand pounds of their Guatemalan coffee beans, to now over 25 tonnes per year, the owner was able to save to start this shop. This coffee shop was his father's dream: to sell high end, quality coffee directly to the consumer. His mother's last name graces the shop as a tribute. Please support our local community and try this coffee shop for a welcome and pleasant change of pace. I highly recommend their place and their fresh coffee, whether you buy a single cappuccino or take home a bag of roasted beans for your own machine. Enjoy

Yelp
Discovered this place when looking for Latinx owned businesses. What an amazing story this shop owner has, truly what a journey he has been on that has brought him here to open this café. The coffee and pastries (from Dos Hermanos) are on point. He was the one that was working the counter as well! Very sweet guy. The pumpkin spice latte I had was delicious and of course the pastry was a fantastic accompaniment. I hope everyone who reads this patronizes this shop so it becomes a mainstay Portland coffee place that everyone HAS to go to for many years to come.

Yelp
I haven't actually been to the cafe itself but the coffee is absolutely delicious, and an unbeatable price even by what generic low quality supermarket coffee charges. Quick delivery - I order 2 lbs at a time for $25 (that's 32oz - most brands charge $16 for just 12oz) and it's usually delivered next or even the same day. Highly recommend Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5

Yelp
I can only speak for the coffee, but the coffee is the real deal. I went past this place several times because the storefront always looked, for some reason, unappealing to me. Which I feel bad about. I don't even know why. I talked to Hector, the owner, about it, and couldn't come up with a good reason. I guess if I think of other good coffee shops, they always have a very specific look. I'm thinking of "Keeper Coffee", "Kopi", "Puff Coffee"... Even the architecture of the building must be playing into my opinion. And Zamora is in the back of a box-store commercial parking lot. That said, the reviews made me see past all that, and when I went in, Hector told me all about what he does and it's, per everyone else, really amazing. He seems like a wonderful person. But the coffee itself is actually legit. I feel like Zamora is going to be a hidden gem and, hopefully, a big deal. Out-of-towners should be visiting and bringing bags of this stuff home with them.

Yelp
Love this place! Great coffee and nice chill vibe. Katherine is the best! She was super nice and helpful. Will be back to buy more beans.

Yelp
First time here. Ordered iced poured over coffee. Small cozy shop serving beans from Santa Rosa, Guatemala. Friendly owner.

Yelp
Excellent neighborhood coffee stop with friendly service. The coffee is top notch and delicious. I'm always greeted with a smile and they always make time to chat.

Yelp
I'm so lucky that this is my neighborhood coffee shop! The coffee itself is top-notch and the owner, Hector, is a delight to chat with. He's passionate about coffee and building community, and the other employees I've interacted with are lovely as well. I go here all the time because it's convenient, but if I move away I'll be making the trip back because this coffee has spoiled me for life!

Yelp
Cafe Zamoras is such a gem in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. The coffee is so good we buy a bag of beans every time we visit! The owner is incredibly genuine in his passion for not only his shop and the quality of his products but to empower others on how to be successful in the coffee industry. They have a gorgeous back patio to enjoy your drink and pastry and adhere to COVID19 health and safety standards. Stop in and support this small business!!

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Hector is amazing, super personable and friendly with every customer. Made an effort to chat with every person and was just as nice to each one. The coffee is fantastic. 10/10 recommend stopping by if you have a chance.

Yelp
Love that Guatemalan roast! Our favorite new find and love the people. Took our out of town family and they were equally impressed.

Yelp
Yummy freshly roasted coffee, open early, good music, free wi-fi, friendly barista, unpretentious vibe. Perfect place to catch early caffeine and get some work done!

Yelp
This place has some seriously good coffee. Its sustainably sourced in the owners home town in Guatemala and it is hands down delicious. I buy beans and grind at home/useban aero press. The bloom on this coffee is phenomenal and it will really get you going. Where as i used to drink 2-3 cups per day, this coffee gets the job done in 1. My hubs and I live up the block and have been buying our coffee exclusively from this spot for a couple years now bc its so damn good and the owner/staff are awesome. Other coffee just tastes bleh. Ive had their in house made cups as well if youre on the go!

Alexandria Q.

Yelp
There's a reason for it being 5 stars!! Came here excited to find out they were open on Christmas! Service is really friendly and vibe is relaxing and welcoming. Got a mocha and watched it being made with love and great ingredients! Locally owned and will continue supporting it. Also got a strawberry vanilla scone which was delicious.

Yelp
Used to go here a lot but the gal who makes the drinks has messed up so much. My husband ordered a cold chai for me and he gets home and it's a cold coffee with milk. I can't see drink milk or coffee, and they were closing so we couldn't take it back. So he got charged $5 for a drink that should've been $2, maybe $3? And he's too nice to say anything about it so that's why I'm writing a review. Then, after I fill my free punch card, she uses it on the cheaper drink and makes me pay for the more expensive. What? No coffee place has ever done that to me, it's always the more expensive drink they give you for free. On top of that, her drinks are never good. Either too sweet or watered down taste. It's never consistent. The coffee and chai drinks used to be good when we first went there but it was another guy working the counter, lately it's only been her making our drinks. So, we decided that we are no longer going to go here since the barista just isn't doing a good job.

Yelp
We have been so impressed with Cafe Zamora. Learned about them during the beginning of COVID and decided to try out coffee and tamales. The owner, Hector, after finding out I work in healthcare, gifted me extra coffee and tamales for my team in the ICU! Needless to say, the team was stoked. Everything is delicious. Seriously, this coffee and these tamales are bomb. We will be using them as our main source of coffee beans for a long time to come!

Yelp
True story, I road in a Lyft "Green Mode" with Hector, owner of Café Zamora, as my driver six or so months ago. We got to talking and he told me the story of how he started Café Zamora. Through his work, he looks to change the coffee industry in his native country of Guatemala by helping coffee farmers earn a liveable wage. This quaint coffee shop tucked in SE Portland sells beans as well as your favorite coffee drinks but you can also order online. Today when I stopped in for a latte, Hector shared with me that he started this business to fight ignorance in Guatemala by helping people to make a liveable wage -- now he sees that he also has work to do in helping fight ignorance in the US through building of empathy and reducing selfishness. The beans, the business model, the optimism and vision of this little spot should not go unnoticed or unsupported. Pay Café Zamora and Hector a visit today, enjoy a delicious coffee and a healthy dose of positivity and an encouraging world view.

Yelp
Damn good 8oz latte, with an oat milk option! Very friendly staff. They are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Wish I lived a little closer so I could pop in every day.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood coffee shop with a heart for helping others! My caramel latte was prepared with perfection! Cannot say enough good about this place! You should check it out!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this cute cafe during our walk. Met the friendly owner who was very helpful. Tried the coffee and fell in love. Bought a couple bags to bring home to Cali. Will visit again when I'm back for a visit. Definitely recommend if you want some good coffee.

Yelp
Friendly staff, owner Hector was very nice and personally curates the Guatemalan coffee selection which is FANTASTIC. The cinnamon buns are the best here!

Yelp
People here are very friendly from the owner to their staff. Great place to hang out while sipping your delicious coffee with tasty tamales. I can't wait to see your coffee shop back to normal hours again. Good luck and stay safe!

Yelp
Super sweet little coffee shop. Great coffee, employees are all super sweet, fast service. I can't wait until it's nice out to sit on the patio! Decor is a little bare-bones, but overall a great addition to the neighborhood and an awesome place to get delicious coffee.

Lanette R.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee in a cute shop. Amy knows her beans, her recommendations are great. They roast the beans to perfection and so you get the full Smokey blend of the dark roast without the burned flavors so many shops lean toward. They are new to the neighborhood so expect great things as they expand and grow!

Rosie J.

Yelp
We just moved to the neighborhood and have been to this coffee shop almost everyday since we arrived. The drip coffee is delicious and smooth (not at all bitter) and the cold brew is also fantastic. The owner Hector is super friendly as well. There is a Beautiful and very large open air back yard area - Perfect for coffee during Covid!

J R.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood cafe with sweet treats and friendly baristas !! Thanks for the great cup of joe and conversation! Best of Luck for the future!! See you when I get back to the hood. Can't wait to see the beautiful sky blue building.

Yelp
We took advantage of their delivery while 'sheltering in place.' Ordered tamales one evening & they were delivered the next afternoon. Saved them for breakfast - tried the cheese and the loroco. Sooooo good! My husband is already asking me to order more! Highly recommend this place!!
