"More than 20 years in, this local chain is a Seattle coffee classic, with original coffee specialties like the medici (an orange zest mocha) and shakerato (coffee and simple syrup shaken over ice) bringing customers back day after day. With outdoor seating and the waterfront just around the corner, the roaster’s cozy Kirkland cafe is a convenient stop for sporadic sunny days, while moody blue walls and a chalkboard bar give the cozy interior some flair for taking cover when the weather turns." - Maggy Lehmicke

Love this super cute & cozy cafe! They have the yummiest White Chocolate Mocha and Strawberry Matcha Lattes. I love that everything from their beverages & pastries are made fresh-- especially the Chocolate Chip Cookies, Espresso Chip Cake, Southwest & Sriracha Chorizo Burrito, and Strawberry Shortcake. The baristas are the sweetest people and are always fun to interact with. They're super friendly and are great at keeping the cafe clean and neat even with it being busy at times. A bonus is that they're dog friendly, too!

I can’t say how amazing the mocha they do. The art presentation on the latte or mocha is masterpiece. They are pet friendly too and allowed my dog to have his pup cup.

Small cafe on the Central way of Kirkland with nice outdoor seats. Service is warm, tasty food and soft drinks. My favorite are artichoke quiche with goat milk cheese and matcha latte with almond milk. The only problem is the restroom. It needs to be renewed and well cleaned. Everything looks well used… or just do not go to this restroom.

Google
The best coffee I ever had in my life!! I'm Italian and I wish Italians were able to take seriously coffee like this shop does. Go check it out!!! The manager of this shop, Kyra has really transformed the vibe of this place in the last two years. Unfortunately the building owner wont continue the lease after this summer. Its a shame to lose a special place like this in Kirkland.

We visited Ladro on a Sunday morning. The latte was decent, and the baristas were great. The street parking was convenient, and the outdoor and window-side seating is wonderful, especially on a light rainy day.

Google
I love this place! Coffee was excellent and I loved that they had a vegan berry muffin choice for me and it was really good! McKayla, the barista, was so kind, helpful, and patient while I tried to figure out what I wanted to drink. Cute environment as well. There are seats outside of you can sit inside with vaccination records.

I am been there twice for TooGoodToGo orders. The first time is a wonderful experience, the waiter packed the order ahead, I picked up in one second and there are 4 bread. It worths the amount it shows in TooGoodToGo’s app which is $12. Then after one month, today, I made a order again. The waitress didn’t pack the order at all before I came and only gave me 2 bread and 1 cookie. So after I checked the pack, I went back to store asked her whether I should have $12 worth food. She said that’s all left for today. I asked whether she should pack ahead or don’t sell it at TooGoodToGo if there is no left over. She answered with silence. And I asked her whether she can give me a drink as a make up. She said no with a very very bad attitude and said there is only less than $1 difference. Now I know why this store’s rating drop from 4.9 to 4.4 in just 1 month on TooGoodToGo.

Yelp
Delicious, smooth, happiness in a cup! I lucked out and caught them at a quiet time in the morning. Ordered an Americano topped with almond milk and a few shakes of cinnamon. The barista offered to steam the milk for me which was a nice touch. Came out quickly and beautiful. I love the smooth taste of their coffee. It's not bitter like the big box shop. You pay a bit more here and it's worth every penny!

Yelp
I tried the matcha rose latte, and I must admit, I was skeptical at first. However, it turned out to be pretty good. The balance between the matcha and rose flavors was just right--neither was overpowering, creating a delightful blend of tastes. The staff was friendly. As for the ambiance, it was just okay--nothing particularly remarkable.

Yelp
Caffe Ladro is a Seattle Coffee Institution that is focused on quality over quantity. Caffe Ladro is Italian for "coffee thief," they chose this name because they opened up shop right next to Starbucks in 1994, intending to steal their customers. Even though their goal was to "steal," it was more like "persuade" customers by offering superb Seattle coffee, signature friendly atmosphere, and freshly baked goods. Foods I Tried: - Soy Latte - Chai Tea Latte - Pumpkin Scone My Review: I enjoy going to Ladro, the coffee is a little pricy, but the warm atmosphere, fresh goods, and friendly staff make the experience enjoyable (additionally, they are dog friendly).

Yelp
Came by for my TGTG pickup. Got 4 pastries - a coffee cake, a muffin, a croissant, and a 2nd fancier croissant. I'm happy with my pickup items! Cute coffee shop located across Central Way in Kirkland. Convenient location for me. Service was friendly.

Yelp
The blond girl barista is an absolute disgrace and should not be allowed to interact with customers ever. I love caffe ladro, but this girl made my visit really sour. The interaction: I order a Gibraltar and a espresso chip cake. While she was preparing beverages, I inspect the cakes and there were two left, one much smaller than normal. So I ask her to give me the other one. Answer: I already charged you for this one. Me: but they're the same, it's not another item, please give me the other one. Answer: no, I already charged you for this one. Me: what? Please explain. Answer: ... So I asked for a refund for both the Gibraltar and the cake. She misunderstood and refunded only the cake. Fine, I got my Gibraltar, didn't want to drag this further. Once the Gibraltar was ready, she just put it on the counter without saying anything. Unbelievable behavior. I'm a super loyal caffe ladro customer, so I'll visit other locations, but if this was another place, I would never come back again.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Nice little cafe ladro location similar to all their other ones but they have plenty of seats and outlets. If you need to get some work done they do play louder music and the machines are pretty loud so be aware that it's not the quietest location.

Amelia M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I walked in today just to look around and maybe get a coffee. We mostly wanted a bakery item, but their case was relatively empty. So we decided to go somewhere else to get food. The barista said " can I get you anything ?" To which we replied " mm actually not today, sorry." She then rolled her eyes and said, very rudely, " well say something then instead of just standing there." And huffed off to the back room. It was very rude and unprofessional. If I was ever going to come here to get coffee, I'm not anymore.

Eva M.

Yelp
My review is going to be very different from others. I didn't drink any coffee. Hehe. If you look at my photos, it's all about the baked goods. I won't name every variety because there are many, many. They sell scones, croissants, coffee cakes, muffins, banana breads, brownies, cookies, etc. By now, I have tasted at least one variety from each category. Their pastries are locally baked and then distributed to their stores in the greater Seattle area. They always taste fresh, even after a few days. I usually bring them home, so I warm them up in the toaster oven. After warming, they are very delicious with a fresh out-of-oven taste. My favorite category is the specialty croissants, such as the almond. Hubby's favorite category is their scones, especially the savory Chili Jack Scone. For the pastries alone, it's a solid 4 stars after their prices are taken into consideration. I've been buying mine at a lower cost, so my purchases are in fact a 5+ stars experience! The staff there are always very chill and easy going. I go at the end of day, so it's not "rush hour" for them anymore. That probably helps.

Daren D.

Yelp
Caffe Ladro. The best local coffee chain that rocks orange, black and white colors in their aesthetic quite well and the gentleman (or woman?) in their logo reminds me of Dick Tracy, Inspector Gadget and Carmen Santiago somehow together. The vibe tends to ebb & flow based on location. This one's nice and the staff were pleasant. I think I got a 12 oz oat latte, if I recall, while sipping on it wandering over towards Marina Park nearby. If the outdoor lounge chairs had slightly better lumber (lower back) support, they'd be purrr-fect.

Yelp
Caffe Ladro in downtown Kirkland is my go to coffee shop. Great collection of beans, fantastic espresso just the way I like it and tasty desserts. I appreciate that they are open until 7 pm on Sunday's and offer a half off select desserts after 4 pm. I highly recommend the Americano, almond cranberry coffee cake and the monster choc chip cookie. Baristas are super friendly. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Great place to make new friends...

Renee R.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and such a nice atmosphere! Erin was so lovely and helpful with us we had a great experience. (:

Yelp
tldr: go to Zoka across the street...please Food: N/A Drinks: 1/5 Vibes: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Covid: 5/5 Must-Orders: None. After having a pleasant experience at another Kirkland local coffee shop (Zoka, less than a minute walk away), we were eager to try Caffe Ladro. Unfortunately, it was an experience that would have been better off missed. I ordered an iced Americano with white mocha syrup. Not only was the white mocha undetectable, but if you hadn't told me this was an americano, I would have thought I was drinking slightly milky tap-water. I was shocked by how weak the espresso shots were, and almost embarrassed that this drink could earn the name "Americano." While the interior was fashionably designed, I won't be returning. Would highly recommend venturing across the street to Zoka instead, as they have a lovely selection of staple and seasonal items. Also, just another note: Caffe Ladro's rewards system is a bit reminiscent of the 20th century. Instead of having a mobile phone associated with your points, you have to physically load money from your credit card onto a physical Ladro gift card, and then scan that as well when you want to purchase something, making it a cumbersome experience.

Erin S.

Yelp
Similarly to another reviewer, I would highly suggest that you visit Zoka across the street (or Thruline, which is also close) rather than Caffe Ladro. My boyfriend and I just moved to Kirkland and have been taking morning walks and trying nearby coffee shops. There was a Caffe Ladro within walking distance of our place before we moved, and we always meant to try it but never did. Needless to say, we were pretty excited to try this place! We both ordered the same thing (except my boyfriend got a jumbo and I got a grande): an iced cold brew with oat milk and half sugar-free almond syrup and half sugar-free vanilla syrup. I was really excited to try the sugar-free almond because I've never seen it anywhere else. On the board, it showed my grande was supposed to be $3.65 and his jumbo was supposed to be $4.10. When she told us our total, my jaw dropped. $15!!!!!!! $15 for two cold brews. I was in shock, but for some reason, felt awkward inquiring... I know that many places will charge extra for alternative milks (and maybe syrups?) but I've never paid this much money for an order like this. To top it off, we really didn't enjoy our coffees that much either. I probably drank less than half of mine and put it in the fridge to "finish it later." (By the way, it's still there...) While we did receive good customer service, I honestly can't see myself ever going back. Definitely not if I have to spend $15 for not very great coffee.

Amy R.

Yelp
Better not go here unless you have 20 minutes to wait to get a coffee. They need more staff or a new system.

Alice L.

Yelp
My friend and I visited Caffe Ladro sometime in the mid-afternoon on a Sunday. I had an oat milk latte (around $6-7). My friend had a latte and a pastry. We both found the taste of the coffee to not be our favorite, but the cafe had a great atmosphere. The Washington sales tax is no joke. The coffeeshop was very clean and had well-set policies (tape on the ground, a cup for clean pens and a cup for used pens when signing receipts). The restroom was also very clean. There are some lawn chairs outside that people sit and chat at. Not a lot of people at this coffeeshop the mid-afternoon we were there. The baristas were friendly and helpful.

Tclumpner ..

Yelp
First off my Jumbo Chai Latte wasnt hot and when I opened the Lid it wasnt even close to full. More like a Grande. I asked why the bathroom was closed and the female employee said "Think about it, why would it be closed?" I said I really dont know as other Ladros bathrooms are open. I then said people need to be able to use the bathroom. She then said" Well you arent!" Very Condescending and Rude to me. I said I shouldve never tipped you.

Food Physicist D.

Yelp
A great stop for coffee after a meal at one of the many fabulous restaurants in the downtown Kirkland area. Love the location close to the lake and gazebo. The only complaint is that they seem to be low on pastries no matter what time of the day. The other locations seem to carry more.

Nick S.

Yelp
If you're open until 7 doesn't that mean the door should be unlocked until 7? It's quite frustrating to rush there before closing, wanting to snag some beans, only to be shut out.

Amanda N.

Yelp
If you like an oat milk latte and are in downtown Kirkland, come here!! After trying the coffee joints in downtown Kirkland, I can say that I like Caffe Ladro the best. The baristas are always so sweet and greet you warmly. The wait is never too long.

Anas J.

Yelp
Quiet nice caffe Drinks are tasty and in the middle of the downtown Staff are kind Their cinnamon horns are tasty

Joseph W.

Yelp
Good coffee but horrible service today. A young women who obviously was mad about something, perhaps about being the only employee there, was rude and playing her music extremely loud. Almost the opposite experience in the other Ladro in town where the barista said they were understaffed yet was friendly and helpful none the less.

Linnea H.

Yelp
Caffe Ladro is one of my go-to coffee shops. Although they have several locations, this particular one on the border of downtown Kirkland is quite cozy and everything you'd expect from Ladro: friendly service, skilled baristas, housemade baked goods, free WiFi, and comfortable seating. There is free street parking right outside for up to 2 hours, otherwise you'll have to find a paid lot.

Brad H.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good coffee and strong flavoring ( on flavored drinks) the building has seen much better days and could use a pretty modern refresh, especially being prices are higher then Starbucks but it is a local business. Excited to see how their "2nd" Kirkland store down the street looks.

Felisha M.

Yelp
Stopped in because the Greek place next door is closed. The Butterhorn is a slightly sweet pastry that resembles are crescent roll. It is dry but highly dippable. I enjoyed a unsweet spicy chai latte that went well with the dry dessert. The chocolate croissant was delicate, airy, and flaky. I also got a salted caramel brownie which was my least favourite. Too dry and strangely just tasted like salt on top? I was not getting any undertones of caramel. I only managed to eat half of it and threw the rest away. The music is so nice and calming. Would I come by again ? Hmm. It has not replaced my favourite coffee spot but I would let people know about it. I would stop in for another spicy chai. That was awesome ! I came around 3:30pm maybe that was effecting the quality of my pastries ? It's nice that it is right by the park too.

S R.

Yelp
I was the only one in the store. The guy at the register never looked up to even help me. I only wanted a drip coffee. He made me wait over 20 minutes and then started talking to the barista. I asked if I could just get a drip coffee and he impatiently told me that he would be with me in a few minutes. I was the only customer! I was working and event at Kirkland Urban and had to leave to man my booth. I came back because I was cold and really wanted a coffee and a woman was behind the register. I was again the only one in the store and again was ignored. She told me it would be a minute. I waited 10 minutes while she organized the the space. I had to leave to help my customers and never got a simple drip coffee. I waited over 30 minutes with no one else in the store. This is horrible.

Holly T.

Yelp
Great service and coffee! It is not my favorite place to sit and work because it is not super cozy, but I prefer the coffee and interactions to other shops. There is a barista there that is always super friendly and he usually gives me a simple compliment that brightens my day & that is good customer service. During the power outage a few months ago I was working down there as well for the wifi, and they were very helpful to a lot of people. Providing ice for some groceries, outlets, wifi, etc.

Jen H.

Yelp
Made a pit stop for some coffee. My partner ordered the cold brew and I ordered the turmeric latte. I loved my turmeric latte. It was not too sweet and had a slight gingery taste. Plus I got my anti-inflammatory dosage of turmeric. :) Healthy, right? :)

Patricia B.

Yelp
I have loved this shop for years -- they have amazing baked goods and the staff has usually been great. However, their baristas are have not been wearing masks when I have gone in for takeout. I stopped in this afternoon, expecting the barista to be wearing a mask as per the new guidelines announced for King County. Not only was she not wearing a mask, she was chatting with a friend who was also maskless even though only three customers were supposed to go in at a time. When I asked why they weren't wearing masks, they scoffed at the idea. The Caffe Ladro in Kirkland is the only takeout place/grocery store I've been to in the area where the waitstaff aren't wearing masks. To me, that says that you don't want to take all possible measures to protect your customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere -- there are numerous coffee shops in the area, after all. I would suggest that others do the same, as this is a public health issue. The guidelines were issued for a reason -- having everyone wear masks is the best way to lower the risk of COVID19 transmission.

Seyeon K.

Yelp
in Kirkland downtown, if you want to try another copy instead of the zoka coffee, this is the great option for you! well there is a starbucks also, but Ladro can give you nice coffee for great lake view. Not the best coffee, but it's worth to try if you visit kirkland often.

Cooper A.

Yelp
Ran into this quant coffee house to get out of the chilly street and was presented with one of the best macchiato's I've ever had. The presentation of the coffee reflected the barista's love and pride in delivering not just the coffee, but an experience. The food available was limited, but I did stop by in the afternoon so they may have more if you come in the morning. The place is small and was crowded but I asked a group if I could sit with them and they happily let me share their table. If you find yourself at SurLaTable or just around that end of Kirkland, stop in and enjoy a little cup of heaven.

Annie J.

Yelp
There is never more than one person working and they are slow. I keep trying them, but I don't have 30 minutes to wait for a cup of coffee!!

Miriam E.

Yelp
Great place to get a coffee and pastries!. Enjoy the street view while working or relaxing reading.

Khuyen H.

Yelp
This is the second time I have been here. When I want to sit outside on a warm day and do people watch, this place definitely comes up at first. They have good coffee, all drinks are good consistently. The shop is a little bit small, compared with other near by coffeeshops but they still have plenty of seats. Staff is super friendly and helpful, you can ask him anything.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Was walking to Sur La Table which is next door and decided to stop in and get a coffee The decor is very cute and the art work was very bright and colorful. I was greeted by the barista as soon as I walked in and she was so polite and helpful. They had a few seasonal specials including the lavender honey latte which I decided on. The latte was delicious! Very smooth and springy. I loved the lavender in there and it was worth the $5 price tag. I was disappointed in the sweet display case as there were not many options. It was however late in the afternoon so they may have been sold in the morning. I will be back soon :)

Nora S.

Yelp
Nice place to chill and have a coffee. So many coffee places in Kirkland! Head is spinning.... Just had the brewed coffee here. I liked it. Wasn't too sour for me like many of the coffees have been (ie Stumptown and most pour overs). However, my husband thought it was a trifle weak. Definitely on the mellow side. They roast their own beans. Big plus! Not sure that makes them better than average around here though with all of the competition they have. Would have liked more pastry/breakfast variety. We tried the vegan oat cake, croissant for my daughter, and ham and cheese croissant for my son. He devoured his but he isn't picky. The croissant was distinctly average and didn't taste super fresh. Oat cake was very good. Lots of fruit and not as dense or sweet as we feared. Probably will be back but not right away.

Will C.

Yelp
Waited 15 minutes for a cup of foam and two cold pastries. Not to mention it was $16. Avoid.

Al B.

Yelp
The best barista ever Saturday morning, so so sweet. Gave me ideas on beautiful areas to visit, will not forget this Lavender Iced White Chocolate Mocha thanks so much!

Grant B.

Yelp
I'll be honest. I had given up on ever having a good mocha again. Maybe the last good mocha I had was in 1998? It seems like Starbucks had taken over the world and even if the shop wasn't a Starbucks, it tended to all taste the same. Burnt and bitter and a tad artificial. I had thought my sense of taste had changed and I no longer liked coffee. I had consigned myself to a future of sugar free energy drinks. Then I met a friend who had gone though a barista training course. I scoffed at first, but she said that making a latte or mocha was complicated enough that there was some decent skill required to make good espresso. I started to wonder, could it be that I had only to search for a decent mocha? So I did. On my daily walks around Kirkland I started trying the coffee products. When I got to Caffe Ladro and ordered my mocha from the barista with a tattoo the back of his neck (I wish I knew his name). It was amazing. Smooth, great espresso flavor mixed with chocolate, unburned milk, no bitterness. At last, I had discovered a real mocha again. Since then I go to Caffe Ladro nearly every day. I can tell you, making a good mocha is a talent. Some of the baristas have it better than others, but no matter what it never sinks to the level of a Starbucks mocha. I even took my friend who got barista training and she was impressed. My pleasure in mochas has been restored by Caffe Ladro. And if you see a tattooed neck barister, don't miss out, he really is awesome.

Linda S.

Yelp
This is a fun place. Love their spunk! I was curious about their name so I looked it up. From their website, "Caffe Ladro is Italian for coffee thief. When we opened up right next to Starbucks, we intended to pinch their customers with the best staff and coffee we could find." Good for you, Caffe Ladro! I think that's hilarious! The coffee was good and the place is nice and inviting. We didn't see any vegan munchies, but that's not the end of the world. Nice place!

Gina K.

Yelp
Great coffee friendly staff. I love the atmosphere and the bake goods. I stop here on my way home from work and sit outside to enjoy people watching.

Erik B.

Yelp
If you want a calm relaxing place to do work this is the place. Not like the rest of the coffee places this place actually has people that respect the sole ya of work and great taste of coffee. Me and my wife love coming here. I would give this place a 5 star but they need to get better food to go with coffee.

Anne M.

Yelp
The coffee here is just not good. Maybe it's how the barista's make it, or maybe it is just coffee beans, but the coffee is VERY acidic. The interior is very dark also, doesn't make me want to sit and read a book or just relax for a couple of minutes. Far better coffee shops in the area.

Jordan S.

Yelp
I've always had good, fast service here, especially when the other fancy non-big business coffee shops in the area are full. Early hours for the early risers and workers. They give a discount if you bring your own mug. Nice stuff!

Estelle K.

Yelp
I just wanna start by saying understaffed. This poor girl is all by herself and has like 10 drinks to make and check out customers. This is a management problem and need to not have their employees drown all by themselves. I've watched multiple people come up and ask how long till their drink is going to be ready. Gave a stressful environment and this issue should be an easy fix. Staff your coffee shops.

Flora C.

Yelp
'Café Ladro's coffee and music selection are great. It definitely beats SB. Sorry to say... The only thing I wish to be better are the drivers. Walking with a yellow flag to cross the street is not a guarantee. Drivers are driving too fast and not stopping for presidents. They need to stop even presidents are not even half walk crossing yet. I experienced and saw too many close calls. So, heads up.

Evelina L.

Yelp
It's alright. Beans roast on the dark side, maybe they're competing with Starbucks. Place is dark and dingy. Uninviting. Baristas were more busy chatting with themselves than engaging customers. Didn't pick up a good vibe.

Rex B.

Yelp
The Good: My Mocha The Bad: This was my first visit The Lowdown: I liked it a little better than starbucks mocha...but I don't drink coffee and just started drinking mochas a little while ago, so I am no authority on this stuff. But I liked it. (I posted a photo of my mocha for everyone to see). My wife liked her hot chocolate too.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Great place. Great barista's, always friendly. My only complaint is they never sweep outside. Under chairs leaves and trash have been there all year. Would look so much better cleaned!

Deirdre G.

Yelp
Numnumnum my favorite place to get lunch in Bellevue. I'm never disappointed. I love the variety!
