The good:
Let me start with the best: the food. Really nice. Although, the burger was so high it was quite unpractical. I asked, and the beef is local. I asked about the chips, and was told the chips are not made in the restaurant. They looked standard to me.
Tables are spaced fairly far apart. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Cutlery, crockery of good quality. The bathroom is alright. Soap and hand lotion.
Upstairs is prettier than downstairs, in my opinion. However, when I was there it was out of season and quiet so upstairs was closed.
The bad:
The prices in this restaurant are too high. A soup costs 9.50 pounds for example. That would have been alright if the service was of the same standard as the food. It is not. It is so mediocre that my rating drops from 5 to 3 stars. On the other hand I must admit that I am from the continent and have hardly ever found quality service in a British restaurant. But you judge:
My friend sat down, while I asked where I can hang my coat. This meant I came to the table one minute after him. The waitress had greeted him and told him today's special and was about to walk off, when I said I didn't hear that sorry.
The waitress took our drink order. A minute later a male waiter came to take our drink order too. A minute later a thrid waiter came to serve the drinks. Chaos.
The waiter who took out food order served our food too, but couldn't remember which one of us ordered what!
One waiter used the word 'like' (the way American kids do) about 12 times in one minute.
In other words, service that is quite normal for 75 a regular restaurant. Just not one that is fairly expensive.
