The Best Canned Cold Brew From Seattle Coffee Roasters - Eater Seattle

"Founded in 1995, Vita is the oldest roaster on this list and unsurprisingly this cold brew is old-school, dark and smooth. If you put it on ice in a glass with some milk we certainly wouldn’t be mad. Or in a pinch, you could pour some half and half into the can at a highway rest stop. These cans are widely available in grocery stores and at Vita locations." - Harry Cheadle

Caffe Vita Is Carrying Seattle’s Hopes at the U.S. Coffee Championships - Eater Seattle

"Once again, Seattle craft coffee powerhouse Caffe Vita is sending not one but two baristas to compete in the U.S. Coffee Championships (USCC), an event that’s part of this weekend’s Specialty Coffee Expo at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Caffe Vita is sending returning contender Gray Kauffman, who tied for sixth in the U.S. Barista Championship competition at USCC 2022 in Boston, to perform in the same competition this year, while newcomer Natasha Solowoniuk will be performing in the Coffee in Good Spirits (a.k.a. coffee cocktails) competition. A third-generation Seattleite, Solowoniuk manages the Caffe Vita shop at Seattle Center, which adjoins indie radio station KEXP’s broadcasting studio. She’s been working in coffee for ten years and designing drinks for five, and she creates a lot of the components for her cocktails from scratch. Both of her signature drinks for USCC 2023 are based on tequila —one stars a homemade chicha morada concentrate made from Peruvian kʼculli (purple corn), while the other features a homemade buttered popcorn–infused simple syrup." - Meg van Huygen

Caffé Vita Fires Employees for Giving Leftover Food to the Homeless - Eater Seattle

"Caffé Vita, a Seattle-based coffee chain, is under scrutiny for allegedly firing staff who gave leftover food and coffee to homeless people. Management had sent an email stating that such donations would be considered theft and grounds for immediate termination. This policy led to the resignation of the general manager, Isaiah Washington, and a protest outside the Capitol Hill location, urging a boycott." - Tim Forster

Both my mom and I enjoyed our coffees! My mom ordered a cappuccino on the stronger side--half decaf, half regular. I ordered a espresso/Americano--"Italiano." It was strong, which I loved and it had this distinct taste that differentiated it from other coffee beans. The atmosphere was lovely as well, but it was quite expensive (but worth it!). Thank you for the coffee art <3

Google
Possibly the best coffee shop in Capitol Hill. Great coffee and atmosphere. Bring your dogs as they have plenty of space.

I think this location is the best. I started coming for the good coffee, but what keeps me coming daily are the kind staff. Specifically Amanda and Michelle. I notice the kindness you treat everyone with, and I can never stop appreciating all that you do. Thank you for creating a third space for people to exist in.

Google
I am obsessed with this cafe. And when I say obsessed, I mean obsessed. I live in Vancouver, Canada & decided one day to take a day trip down to Seattle just to order my favourite iced decaf Valencia. Most people travel to other cities for great coffee but me, I travel across the border to a whole new country. Amazing pastries, and super cute interior as well. Great place to people watch & to see some good looking Seattleites (there is something in that PNW water, I tell ya). Very queer friendly too. Until they open up a location up north, I will be making my random day trip treks for my fave cafe, eh.

Google
My first time visiting Caffe Vita. I’m not a local but visiting from California, specifically the bay area region. I’m big on customer service and immediately upon walking in I was greeted with a smile from the barista at the register. A plus in my book! I was happy to see they have nitro cold brew, so that’s what I order + a homer donut. The donut was amazing, soft buttery and fluffy. The atmosphere is chill with a nice layout, very clean. Depending on where you sit and if you’re paying attention you can see where they roast the beans. If you’re looking for a place to chill and enjoy a cup of coffee, I would definitely recommend this place. I will be back again!

Google
Went here for the first time recently. I love the vibe.. The Black and yellow/gold. Because coffee is black gold after all. I had the best cortado ever on top of them playing great music from the likes of New Order and Joy Division. This cafe is a little far from where I'm at, but if I'm ever in the area, this'll be a place I go back to for sure. Edit: sad to see continued price hikes. My drink and others are now a dollar more, and the highest I've ever encountered.

Google
Love this place! Coffee & service is good. Caffe Vita has great tasting coffee with your traditional coffee options like a flavored latte or one of there cute speciality drinks! Lots to choose from! Lots of seating if you’re wanting to meet a friend for coffee, or work a little! Super cute decor.

Yelp
A quant, very popular spot in capital hill. Deep tones, lots of dark woo, plenty of seating. Was in town for a concert and needed a pick me up. The maple latte didn't disappoint. Barista was nice and efficient. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Renee T.

Yelp
Expensive but pretty yummy coffee! Service was amazing and the cafe itself is as well. Seems like the perfect cozy little spot to get some work done. I had the seasonal Peppermint Mocha and it was pretty good. I would definitely try something interesting to drink, but heads up it is pretty pricey.
google avatar

Yelp
Disappointed by the rose & cardimom latte. I had high hopes based on a friend's recommendation. I can smell the cardomom when I first got the drink, and got a taste from the first 2 sips, and that was it. Also, the entire drink tasted diluted, not the rich coffee taste I was hoping for. Given there are so many cafes in the Cap Hill area, I likely won't come back. Inside is dimly lit, and had a outdated feel (hey maybe that's the vibe they are going for). Note this place has been a coffee roastery since 1995, so it is cool to see people roasting coffee in the back.

Yelp
If a darker atmosphere is your vibe, Caffe Vita is the perfect spot for conversation or to work. The size of the shop was spacious with plenty of seating while still feeling cozy. There's enough chatter where you can have a conversation, but not too loud if you're trying to do some light work with headphones in. The decor felt a little grunge-y and the atmosphere was on the dimmer side. The mochas were delicious! The mudhoney mocha was rich in both coffee and mocha flavors, and wasn't too sweet. The campfire mocha tasted like hot chocolate with a hint of coffee flavor. The latte art was beautiful! Overall the cafe does a great job for its niche. Personally, I like working in brightly lit cafes, so I'll keep trying out different spots. But this is definitely one of my favorites so far!

Yelp
I stopped by caffe vita because I was looking for a cafe in cap hill with wifi! I'm so glad I popped in here because they do have wifi - and with no password too. They had a really cozy atmosphere with low but warm light, and a good amount of seating. I ended up getting the 12oz cardi rose latte ($6) which was so pretty! I loved the pink dusting on top, but as for the taste, it was pretty underwhelming. I didn't taste much of either flavor, but this tends to happen with hot vs iced drinks. In my opinion, it's a pretty average cafe, but they do get points for having a cozy space! The staff were also friendly, we stayed until closing and they weren't rushing us out by any means. I also had to use the restroom at closing, and they saw I was headed in the direction and let me in on the code! Definitely stop by if you want to get work done in a lowkey space.
google avatar

Anjali M.

Yelp
Disappointing experience with Cardi rose latte. Lacked the flavor, it was just like any other latte. Fell short of expectations.
google avatar

Caitlin G.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service! I stopped in twice since my hotel was close. It's a smaller establishment but very clean and chic. Each time I went I got the hazelnut latte with oat milk. Fabulous! Will be returning on my next trip to Seattle
google avatar

Jesus G.

Yelp
Updating my review once more. It seems Cafe Vita decided to fix their WiFi. I have gone in a couple times and had stable and fast internet connectivity. 72Mbps download and 23Mbps upload speeds. The restroom still needs better ventilation though.
google avatar

Britt H.

Yelp
Customer service here is decent and the coffee isn't so bad. I wish the music here wasn't so loud. I'd recommend this place if you like unique drinks and I'd come back here again.
google avatar

Tyler A.

Yelp
They're pricier than other coffee places in Seattle, but they've got the best tasting cold brew I've ever had. The shop itself is nice and warm and inviting, and there's plenty of small tables to sit at. It's also nice that they're open 'till 7, which is pretty late as far as coffee goes.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
I notice in Seattle, an espresso equals a 'doppio' in Italy. That is, a double shot of espresso. This little shop makes a very nice espresso with a bold flavor. They also give you a small cup of sparkling water (fizzante) with your espresso. A very nice touch. Stand in line and order at the counter. They have a variety of merch items here to peruse as you wait your turn. A QR code is posted as you enter the door to view the menu. Place your order at the counter and pay, then step to the side to wait for the order. There is a large window wall at the sidewalk in the seating area making it nice an bright. Opposite the windows is a glass wall overlooking the roasting area. That's fun. Seating is an assortment of low and high tops with seats or stools and there are a good number of tables in the space. Everything seemed clean. Coffee is served in disposable cups and you bus your own table. There is one bathroom available near the order counter. Parking. . . street if you can find it, or paid lot. Happy caffeinating.

Yelp
I stopped in at 6:30ish on a Thursday Staff was friendly and answered my questions as a infrequent coffee drinker (1-2 times a year :)). I got a 12oz iced latte (all their espresso drinks are two shots). The tables outside were nice in the warmer spring weather. The latte did the job of getting me hype for the neumos show. My partners drip coffee was a little weak. I'd go back again in a pinch but would try somewhere new with more time to look. A side complaint: the bathroom spelled like rank BO.
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
Caffe Vita is a fantastic coffee shop in a sea of coffee shops. Ended up being an old boomer and went with a large drip. Coffee had a lot of subtleties, and warmed me up in a city of sogginess.
google avatar

Emelina W.

Yelp
3 stars for their beans and great grinder service, 1 star for their great decorations. The most liked coffee bean in Seattle. However, they really need to improve the latte art skill, the bubbles and form are way too thick. Love this cafe and the coffee bean! Not easy for parking, I choose the QFC parking lot.

Cole W.

Yelp
I've been a customer here for a while, but recently, I've grown uncomfortable due to the environment around the store. It's disheartening to see the baristas constantly dealing with unsafe and unpleasant situations caused by some of the people hanging around outside. I truly feel for the employees who have to endure this and don't feel it's fair to them. I believe the business could benefit from implementing some form of deterrent, like security, to ensure a safer space for both customers and staff. Until then, I'm hesitant to continue supporting this location.
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
Cute inside and good location in Capitol Hill. Drip coffee is on the high side ($4.15 for a small after tax). Coffee flavor was average. Staff is kind but not particularly friendly. Nice spot to take a break or meet with friends.

Kellan F.

Yelp
Horrific customer service. I held out my hand to receive my pastry but the barista threw it on the counter like I was some dog being fed scraps. There's also no temp control in their hot drinks, because they all come out scalding. Once I asked for two ice cubes in my almond latte and I even held out two fingers to give them a visualisation of how many ice cubes I wanted, and still the barista scooped up a metric fuck tonnne of ice and dropped it in my latte. I'm going to say this again for good measure -- HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE.
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Based on the latte alone, I wouldn't recommend this spot. Maybe it was how the barista pulled the shots but there was a peculiar aftertaste. The only way I can describe it is that it reminded me of milk that was on the verge of going bad. Follow my Instagram @thephotographerfoodie :)

Emmeline W.

Yelp
Very much a study/work spot-- plenty of tables, outlets, and solid caffeine options. We dropped by as a final coffee stop before our flight. For COVID safety purposes, masks are required. The spacious, grungy interior permits ample incentive to socially distance. Decent customer service. TURMERIC LATTE: Earthy & frothy, lightly sweetened. Definitely a gimmick, but I bought into it-- my weekend's worth of health rolled into one piping hot, neon-yellow beverage. The beverage itself is unremarkable, but I enjoyed it as a pick-me-up to pass the time. My friends' hot & cold campfire mochas were cute. Coffee was aight. Compared to CA cafes, still an improvement-- but less impressive compared to our previous stops in Seattle.

Delilah C.

Yelp
everything is so good -- the matcha, the chai, the coffee, the pastries. things don't tend to be too sweet or, conversely, too bitter. i don't know anyone who doesn't think this place is great!
google avatar

Meghan H.

Yelp
Cafe Vita is a quant and dimly-lit coffee shop in Capitol Hill that has viewing windows of the coffee roasters in the back room. I sat here for awhile with my friend working through a latte and cortado, both excellent. I have not tried any of the food, but I found this to be a good first stop of the day before exploring Capitol Hill area, including Elliot Bay Book Company and thrift stores galore!
google avatar

Dean M.

Yelp
Great location in the heart of Capitol Hill. This is one of the many go-to places while shopping around the neighborhood. Flavorful coffee and art forward crowd here. Bring your computer to do some work or just chill and get some caffeine to energize you!
google avatar

Debbie N.

Yelp
Just a normal soy latte yet they make them well. Never had burnt coffee. Never bitter. Coffee is very consistent. Elenos is yogurt here
google avatar

Paulina H.

Yelp
Randomly walked into this coffeeshop and wanted to try it out. Staff are really sweet and nice, they re personable and willing to talk to you. I ordered egg nog latte, however I personally think it is okay, because it has more egg nog than the latte which makes the whole coffee too sweet and it created a weird texture and taste. They provide outdoor sitting by setting up a tent and there are a couple tables in it. However when the cars drove by it will create so much noise and it was so cold when the breeze came into the tent.
google avatar

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
Valencia was on point so thank you last Yelp reviewer for highlighting it! The vanilla and orange was great. Vibes insides super nice and chill.

Sherry H.

Yelp
The coffee is great, the service is stellar! Nice, welcoming atmosphere, pretty fair amount of seating

Carlos S.

Yelp
Delicious espresso, friendly staff, fast service, and very chill vibe. I love coming here in the winter to read a book or just watch Trixie and Katya while I enjoy my drink. Their ice is perfect for cold drinks (cubes that melt slow and don't water the drink down).
google avatar

Sal C.

Yelp
Great light roast drip (I have it as is no nothin' added) atmosphere feels gothic & the vibe is good.
google avatar

Danielle N.

Yelp
Lavender americano is 10/10. Great coffee shop with lots of seating, open decently late and has really good coffee. Parking super limited but otherwise highly recommend.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
A nice little coffee shop in Capitol Hill, with a decent menu of coffee, non caffeinated drinks, and pastries. I really liked their seating area - plenty of tables, chill music playing, free wifi, and folks sitting there were doing all sorts of things quietly (reading, using their laptops, typing on a typewriter!, and coloring/drawing). It was a great place for us to stop by on a rainy weekend afternoon!

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Bad matcha. Unfriendly service. No one smiles anymore? Super intimidating environment.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
I go to vita pretty regularly cause it's a great place to sit and work. They always have creative drinks and great treats. The music and the vibe is so poppin!
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Caffe Vita really checks all my boxes when it comes to catering to my caffeine addiction. Whether it's a latte or an americano, the Vita coffee flavor is strong and rich, but not overbearing. They have a great selection of milk alternatives, a sweet point system (which is great for a local), friendly baristas who really know their coffee, and a fridge filled with grab-and-go products and items (as I love keeping my fridge stocked with their Big Sip's). Yum!
google avatar

Vid Y.

Yelp
Hidden gem in cap hill - a great assortment of themed lattes, custom additional flavors, and large pastries.

Gregg O.

Yelp
People greeting didn't even acknowledge me. I said hi they nodded. Seemed either stuck up, affected or generally uninterested. The Cortado was well made but the ambiance made it a not so great experience.
google avatar

Abigaíl S.

Yelp
I parked far because well Cap hill. I got the Sevilla mocha which I thought would be a little stronger coffee wise but it tasted more like a latte. Good seating, lighting, and customer service!
google avatar

Shirin B.

Yelp
Work vibes are immaculate. Came here to be productive and had an iced valencia besides me, it was awesome. The iced valencia was what was recommended it was a slightly sweet latte with oat milk oranges, and maybe some vanilla, overall quite orangey, but a fun drink for anyone who likes to try new things!
google avatar

Karla B.

Yelp
One of my go-to study spots. I love their hours. The staff is always so friendly and very helpful! I love getting my hot vanilla latte and trying their delicious pastries. Inside is very clean and the spacing of the tables is perfect to feel closer to normal, but still very safe and comfy. Only thing maybe worth mentioning is perhaps the pricing, but totally worth it to have a view of the coffee process while doing work!
google avatar

Carlos C.

Yelp
NO ONE WORE MASK! I felt so uncomfortable around many people without mask. Also the barista was showing a mean attitude because I was wearing my mask pretending they were not listening clear my voice. I don't feel that we are ready for a mask off time. Let's make it easier for clients wearing your masks please.
google avatar

Evan Y.

Yelp
Service is good. You should try it's ice latte, which you could really taste the roasted flavor. Note: When you purchase one coffee bean, you could get $2 off on drinks! Ask!
google avatar

Evelyn T.

Yelp
Their espresso and their cold brew are exceptional. I like Starbucks, they do a good job, but I'm glad I stopped here. I like the atmosphere and ambiance here. The dimmed lighting really relaxes me. I like the music that plays here. Right now it's a techno/electronics type song. The baristas working here are nice and move quickly. Nice place for a cold brew and some rest in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. I'll try to get coffee here next time. I like that they give a separate shot glass of seltzer water to accompany the espresso. 5 stars.
google avatar

Tesla A.

Yelp
Walked by this place today and decided to stop in for an afternoon coffee. The inside is so cute and somewhat fancy vibes. The staff were so polite and helpful. I got 2 iced mochas for me and my boyfriend and we both agreed it tasted like real quality coffee, we absolutely loved it!

Jack H.

Yelp
Their drip coffee is some of the worst in the city. It's acidic and often stale. The expresso is solid but does not have the soft subtlety of say Vivace. Prices, even for Cap Hill, are high. Service is hit or miss. You can do better on the Hill for caffeine. At this point it's more of a brand than a legit good place for coffee.
google avatar

Steven G.

Yelp
Excellent service. Staff was pleasant and the coffee was fantastic. Theme was a bit dark and goth for my liking, but I can see the appeal for others. If just looking for a coffee to go, this place is perfect! Setting might appeal to you, just wasn't my cup of tea, but can't knock em for that. Their service and product were top notch.
google avatar

Xinyi Z.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and the art and lighting. Was very productive here and got lots of reading done. The hot chocolate was good but I wish it had a richer chocolate taste, the art was cute though! Lots of seating space inside and outside so it's a great place to come when the other cafes are packed during weekends.
google avatar

james a.

Yelp
The coffee is good but the music drove me away twice in a row. I can't even describe the genre other than maybe really bad circus music.... And I like a very wide variety of music. Wear headphones if you come here.
google avatar

Anela M.

Yelp
Hip place with dark interior and dirty bathrooms. Coffee is solid but I'd skip this place if you're Loki f for a hangout spot or would like to pee
google avatar

Calyssa S.

Yelp
Super fun spot, love the atmosphere and delicious coffee. Don't go here to study if noise bothers you, they play the music pretty loud, but points for good taste!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Cappuccino: meh. The milk was not well steamed. Lots of warm milk like a latte on the bottom and a lot of dry foam on top. Space/seating: excellent. Outdoor patio, bike racks (limited space), lots of tables to sit at. Open later than most cafes here. If I was trying to get the best coffee in cap hill there are plenty of spots for that. I come here for the space. RE: space. The one critique I would offer right now would be that they use one speaker in the corner rather than several throughout the cafe and that one speaker is a little bit /too/ bumpin. Every vibration was advancing the contents of my colon to their final destination. Left me hard to focus.
