I am surprised by the experience I had at Cahill's this morning. I don't know why they don't have this simple breakfast option on the menu (plain waffle, 2 eggs, 2 bacon). This is what I ordered and, based on my experience in the service industry, I assumed that I would be charged for a general breakfast "plate". Instead I was charged a la carte (7.99 waffle, 3.79 for 2 pieces of bacon, 5.49 for 2 eggs = 17.28). My fault for not confirming with the server ahead of time, however, it would've been appreciated if the server had advised me. I noticed a menu option that included a waffle filled with fried bologna, grits, 2 eggs, & choice of 2 bacon or sausage = 15.99 - clearly way more food than I ordered for a little less money. I brought the matter to a different server's attention and she said she'd see what could be done. Instead, our regular server charged my card and brought it to the table. I asked her about it and she basically said "you ordered a la carte, so you're charged a la carte". We left the table and I brought the matter to the manager's attention. I expected her response to be more understanding and accommodating with a brief explanation and a small adjustment to my bill. Instead I was told the same thing to which I responded with a displeased "ok, awesome". She then said Merry Christmas in a slightly over-cheery way, which wasn't received very well. It would've cost the establishment the small price of a little empathy, understanding, and maybe $2 or $3 refund but I was met with resistance and a snarky attitude. I felt dismissed and an unvalued customer. I see my part in this, but the dismissive attitude and behavior lost this place a customer. Also be aware of the .76 charge when paying with a credit card vs. paying with cash and a basic cup of coffee is 4.50. So, my total bill for this very basic breakfast was 24.33 including tax, non-cash charge, and a .22 HOSP charge (whatever that is?). Despite my experience I still tipped over 15% bringing my total charge to 28.33 for my meal.
Never going back again.
