This is the first time we have made it to Cahill's for lunch. We arrived at around 1 or 1:15 on Saturday and were seated immediately with no wait. (Previously when we tried to come it was at least an hour or more wait.)
Of course, I wanted to try the famous fried chicken with homemade sides and it did not disappoint! I opted for mac & cheese, butter beans and creamed corn. And it came with a cornbread muffin, which was a little on the sweet side, which I personally like. (I know this is controversial because a lot of people hate sweet cornbread. I came from a family where one side did sweet and the other side did not, so I like both.) In any case, everything tasted just like my Grandmother's cooking!! Everything was super delicious, seasoned and prepared perfectly!
My daughter was in the mood for a vegetarian option, so she got the black bean burger with fries. I didn't try hers but it looked good!
We didn't save room for dessert, but I would have liked to try the banana pudding, as I am sure they do that right too.
The portion sizes were big enough that we each got 2 meals out of our orders.
Service was great and we were thrilled with our food. Definitely will be going back!
Loved looking around the little market too after lunch and we got 3 bags of boiled peanuts to take home for later. The peanuts were a little on the small side, but again, they were perfectly seasoned & cooked, just like my grandparents used to make.
If you love authentic Southern home-style cooking, you will love Cahill's.
