3 Best Day Trips from Savannah

"Cahill's menu changes depending on what’s in season and stays within the general universe of Southern meat-and-three and diner grub, with some creative twists. Breakfast and brunch bring options like spicy chicken and waffles, fried pork chop on a biscuit, hash and eggs, and country Benedict; there’s also a long menu of sandwiches and wraps, plus lighter options like blackened grouper salad and fish tacos. Don’t want to sleep on the sides, either; they include stewed cabbage, okra and tomatoes, and pickled beets." - Sam Worley

I’ve driven by Cahill’s dozens of times but never stepped inside. Today was the day. There is only one question: why did I wait so long? My wife and I ate dinner on a Friday evening and absolutely loved everything about this place. First, Cahill’s is a working farm. You can see the actual vegetables they grow on the property that will be used in their kitchen. That’s very cool! Second, the place has a very nice, casual farmhouse vibe. There’s nothing fancy about the place; it’s just comfortable. Third, it’s clean. The restrooms were probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a restaurant as well as being very bright and well-lit. Fourth, the staff is very nice and attentive. Fifth, the food is excellent. It’s southern comfort food at its best. The food is prepared with care and tastes fresh and homemade. So, are there any negatives? It’s a small quibble, but the plates on which food is served have chips. For some, that would be a negative. For me, I kinda like that they don’t waste their money buying new plates every time one chips. It didn’t bother me at all and, if anything, demonstrates the frugality of farm life. We’ve only been to Cahill’s once, but it instantly became one of our favorites. We will be back!

Google
Fantastic breakfast! Huge portions, awesome service and a very cool atmosphere — feels like you’re sitting inside a massive shed or barn type structure. Place is BIG! Outdoor seating too and a working farm outside. Also a gift store with merch. A good time!

Google
Good intro to a southern grub farm-style. When my out- of- town friends come in, this is where I like to take them. I'm a light eater so I go for the chicken little. But big breakfast eaters will be happy too.

Google
Stopped in on 3/31/25. One of the best Chicken and Waffles in SC. Cooked perfect. The service was awesome. Plenty of parking. Server was truly the best. Nice portions. We sat outside under the covered patio. We'll definitely be back next time we visit Blufton.

Google
This is a super cute place with great food. The portions are huge and are all fantastic. The giant sausage and egg biscuit was fantastic and the friend chicken breast was perfectly cooked. Other had a veggie plate and a breakfast burrito and they all enjoyed. Ask for a box because you may not finish it. Mimosas were delicious too. Will return!

Cahill’s is a MUST experience when you’re in Bluffton, SC! And if you’re a breakfast fanatic like me then you definitely want to get here for a meal. I had the country benedict and the flavors in the smoked ham were mouthwatering. The others at my table had the Belly Bomb (chicken fingers wth sausage gravy) and the pork schnitzel benedict. The breakfast potatoes tasted fantastic as well. I didn’t snap any pictures of the store, but they have everything from souvenirs like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and coffee mugs to fresh produce, cheese and canned fruits and vegetables. If you have kids with you, don’t forget to stop at the chicken coup to see where the eggs come from.

Google
If you are wanting southern cooking this is the place! Skip a meal before you come because the portions are huge. My cousin lives in Bluffton and picked this spot. I promise though we will All be back. The fried chicken was delicious too. Everything we ordered was perfect. Our waiter was super great too! This is a TRUE Farm to table restaurant so give yourself time to look around the gardens too! ❤️

Yelp
This is the first time we have made it to Cahill's for lunch. We arrived at around 1 or 1:15 on Saturday and were seated immediately with no wait. (Previously when we tried to come it was at least an hour or more wait.) Of course, I wanted to try the famous fried chicken with homemade sides and it did not disappoint! I opted for mac & cheese, butter beans and creamed corn. And it came with a cornbread muffin, which was a little on the sweet side, which I personally like. (I know this is controversial because a lot of people hate sweet cornbread. I came from a family where one side did sweet and the other side did not, so I like both.) In any case, everything tasted just like my Grandmother's cooking!! Everything was super delicious, seasoned and prepared perfectly! My daughter was in the mood for a vegetarian option, so she got the black bean burger with fries. I didn't try hers but it looked good! We didn't save room for dessert, but I would have liked to try the banana pudding, as I am sure they do that right too. The portion sizes were big enough that we each got 2 meals out of our orders. Service was great and we were thrilled with our food. Definitely will be going back! Loved looking around the little market too after lunch and we got 3 bags of boiled peanuts to take home for later. The peanuts were a little on the small side, but again, they were perfectly seasoned & cooked, just like my grandparents used to make. If you love authentic Southern home-style cooking, you will love Cahill's.

Yelp
We were recommended Cahill by a local family and we're not disappointed. We waited about an hour for our table and they did not seem to be a good area to do so. The food took a while to get, but once we got the food, it was all over! For a family restaurant that freshly prepares much of its food, this place was next level. We all loved everything we tried.

Yelp
I have been here a handful of times now and absolutely love it. After parking, you enter a little store before you go into the dining room. The store has lots of goods from local areas, as well as other areas in the Lowcountry. Our group of six was immediately sat on a busy Saturday morning. The environment is casual, and the food is delicious! One of the favorites from our group is the grits! Everyone raved about it. The fish and grits especially was a delicious meal. Several people in our group had waffles and loved them as well. This is a must stop if you are in the old town Bluffton area.

Yelp
Make a stop here! Their fried chicken is amazing. We got collard greens, grits and Mac n cheese with it and everything was delicious. Also got a BLT with crinkly fries as a side and it was also good although the tomatoes were cut a little bit too thick for my liking. Prices seemed fair. There is a parking lot. They also sell fresh veg/fruit inside that looked delicious! Get a T-shirt or a hat while you are there.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday at noon and it was packed! For good reason; it's a funky, cool no frills old barn with lots of tables scattered about, exposed ceiling beams and ducting, some colorful kitschy decor and huge portions of all the Southern classics. Outside it's a working farm with chickens and crops planted in neat rows -- Definitely nothing fancy. The fried chicken is the main attraction here and the Chicken Wagon my wife ordered looks like good bet, since it comes with two pieces of bird and three sides! Although my bro said his fried grouper sando was likewise dynamite. Service was outstanding and the food was delish, and walking around outside was super cool. There's a market selling food and pantry items inside as well. Cool slice of local life -- though there were definitely tourists here too ( like me).

Dyan R.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and amazing. We take all our out of town guests there. Love their fried chicken and livers. Everything on the recipe is good. Service is fast and very good. Seating is good inside and out. Large portions served.

Yelp
If you are visiting palmetto bluff you have to come here! Great family southern experience. We came for breakfast and it was delicious. Fried okra was our families favorite.

Dawn W.

Yelp
No wait surprisingly just after noon. Quick service with waitstaff and cook steady flow of customers too. Food was great. A must try in town.

Yelp
This is a must when in Hilton Head or Blufton. Quant county farm to table restaurant with fresh quality home cooked style meals. The portions are plenty and everything is prepared well. Great friendly service. Little shopping area in the front with fresh bread and produce.
google avatar

Frank F.

Yelp
Good experience as always. The chicken a little small but still very good. You get a lot of salad on the veggie plate wife order/Cabbage Stir fried. Don't need to be long winded but if you have not tried the place you should.

Yelp
Some of the best Breakfast Food I've had in a long time. Plenty of fresh options to choose from. The atmosphere was like eating a grandma's house. The staff were very nice and helpful. The country store attached to the restaurant was very nice and had a nice selection of items to purchase. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
Loved the market and the restaurant! Very relaxing atmosphere, service was fast and food was good! Husband said the gravy was a little salty. Was not thrilled that coffee was $4.50 and a small orange juice was $3.50.
google avatar

Bill J.

Yelp
This is a farm to table restaurant. Everything is sourced locally, and it's all fresh. The menu is printed on one sheet of paper back to back with lots of options listed in small print. Our server was friendly and efficient. I chose the fried chicken dinner that comes with three sides. It was a lot to eat, so come here with a big appetite! My wife and her sister both ordered the Chicken and waffles. We all enjoyed our meals, and there was plenty leftover, so we each took a doggie bag home. Before you leave, take a look at all the items offered in the store, and the flowers outside.

Yelp
Fresh food, amazing hospitality, a true southern gem! This is a perfect spot to grab a "meat and three" all their vegetable sides are fresh from the garden & you can TASTE IT! Their market is so fun to walk around in before or after you eat to grab some farm free groceries! Everyone makes you feel like family, it's truly a gem of the south!

Jerry R.

Yelp
If you want to live in the past and enjoy a fantastic meal come to Cahill's market. It reminds me of Deep South cooking just like my Mamo cooked. Great memories great food in a fantastic historical town in Bluffton SC.

Yelp
This is a casual setting like you are eating at someone's farmhouse. The fried chicken was tender juicy absolutely perfect. The broccoli casserole is the best I've ever had and I normally do not like casserole. Others in the party had chicken and waffles. They loved it. This is definitely a place to go to eat something that sticks to your ribs. I saw some salads I would tend to avoid the salads. The portions are generous and the food is made from scratch. The papbst blue ribbon for under two bucks is also a bonus. They put biscuits on the table snd serve a biscuit with entrees so no need to order a side of biscuits. Plan for a nap after the meal.

Yelp
We were in bluffton for a family wedding. We went to Cahill's for breakfast on the 1st morning and decided to go there every morning. The food was fresh and fabulous! Farm fresh eggs done perfectly, bacon that was also perfect. The service was so friendly it truly made our breakfasts a highlight of our trip I'd go back any time

Yelp
I'm laying on the couch, ready to have some fried chicken dreams and ready to go back again soon. We met some friends here today for church lunch and man oh man. This place was awesome. Reminded us of some of the places we'd go for lunch back in the upstate. I had the fried chicken platter, my buddy had the Diablo love handle (a spicy friend chicken biscuit covered in gravy and our wives both had some type of egg hash. Everything was great, from atmosphere, service, menu & pricing. We will definitely be returning, and frequently!

Yelp
While Ive only done take out twice and haven't gotten the chance to sit in I will say the food is pretty good. My mother in law and son go here all the time for brunch. My son always says it is his top breakfast spot. The employees are very friendly. They sell the best tasting strawberries I have ever had.
google avatar

Sarah-Grace H.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE LOW COUNTRY BREAKFAST. Does not get fresher! ON THE FARM. Pretty good with allergies, the menu is SO HUGE and service is always great. When i travel away from home I get homesick for this meal.

Cyndy U.

Yelp
Great food great service and good menu. Also little store inside that has lots of local specialties.

Theodore J.

Yelp
Great local cuisine. My go to dish is blackened catfish. However, everything is so good! Get a main & three sides. Enough said.
google avatar

Terry R.

Yelp
Yummy down home food! Chicken fingers are exceptional. Sides are plentiful with lots of variety.

Yelp
On point as usual. We have made breakfast here an annual event. No frills, just down home friendly service and farm to table food - with the farm on the premises. They also have a little store that sells jellies, sauces, along with produce and some refrigerated items as well. We've seen many of the breakfast dishes and it's all just really good. I think this is a hidden gem that people forget or sometimes overlook. There have been times we have arrived and there can be a wait so IYKYK.

Michael L.

Yelp
Food: 3/5. Having an employee unlock the single use bathroom and walk in on your wife utilizing the bathroom? 0/5. Whats even worse is when I mentioned it to the lady who works the front cashier she just turned her back on me and said "Okay." and completely disregarded it. We had high hopes for this place, and unfortunately we had this altercation before our food arrived so our appetite was soiled. Understand that employees make mistakes but to not even own up to another employee impeding privacy and to disregard a paying customer was a big turn off. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Mashed potatoes were solid though.

Yelp
Good service and good food. Loved the country cooking with a nice vibe. Go check it out.

Yelp
Cahill's Market is one of our regular places to eat breakfast or lunch. The breakfast menu is extensive. The lunch menu is not quite as long but the choice are good. I had the hot honey fried chicken sandwich. It was delicious. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich. So big she took half home. Service was attentive and good.

Gregory T.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Come here whenever we visit. Highly recommend!! Then take time to visit the market.

Nick K.

Yelp
This is our go to when we are wanting some home cooked food. We love love love the fried okra appetizer. Service is always good and it feels like you're at a friend's backyard cookout!
google avatar

Griffin B.

Yelp
Cute spot off the side of the road, outstanding vibe and ambiance, old school feel. Beautiful aromatic flowerbeds, classic old timey tableclothes. We had a cheeseburger and some friend chicken with a wide selection of sides. Service was fast and friendly, a MUST GO. GO NOW! Bring your grandma, and your uncles too.

K C.

Yelp
Great food with an authentic home cooked taste Service was excellent - prompt and friendly. Ambiance is casual and relaxed - just a bit loud inside - but well worth the visit!

Yelp
One of the best black bean burger I've had in a long time. Well seasoned. I did take out but it was packed and clean place.

Yelp
That last review hadn't been posted, but wanted to praise this place a bit more. Went for breakfast yesterday and the food was way above average. Their biscuits are so tender and mine included a fried pork chop. I was skeptical when I ordered it but it was so tasty and I'm glad I tried it! Hubby's breakfast included a bowl of grits and what he liked is they were served hot as he said many places they are sorta lukewarm. Service was very good.

Harper R.

Yelp
This is my all time favorite restaurant, it has the best southern food. everything is fresh and delicious, the staff is wonderful. even if the wait is long, you can look around in the shop, hang out outside, and see the chickens. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

P P.

Yelp
Fantastic place lots of vegetables lots of things for vegans and non-vegans to eat love this place go there often
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
It's a bit dark inside both the restaurant and the store but the service and food made up for it! The breakfast burrito was amazing. So much flavor and you could tell it had fresh ingredients. I loved the whole area with fields and chickens just down the hill. Our waiter was wonderful and attentive despite being slammed! Easy parking all around the lot. I highly recommend coming here if only for their jams and store!
google avatar

Yelp
Great find in Bluffton! While visiting Savannah, we wanted to spend a partial day in nearby Hilton Head. This place got great reviews and it's easy to see why. Great food and great service! They seem to be known for their chicken and waffles so I ordered that and hubby got chicken with biscuits and gravy. I've had chicken and waffles from a lot of places and this definitely ranks in the top. The chicken was excellent! They have the chicken coops on property And everything tastes local and fresh. We also didn't have Bluffton on our radar before this stop and got some great recommendations from the server. This is a very cute town we hope to explore more the next time we are in the area.
google avatar

Susan O.

Yelp
I found place not clean. Service was good but food was just ok. Not worth 2nd visit! Sorry because many people think it's good food!
google avatar

Staci K.

Yelp
Holy. Cow. Amazing. Bring an extra stomach and a cooler to bring home your leftovers. This place is legit for good ol homemade food. Generous portions. They don't play!! We cannot wait to come back. Don't skip the sides, they are delicious.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Cute place but I can't recommend it...everything is fried and after eating a small portion of chicken fingers and fries I felt soooo bloated...the prices are also very high considering its mainly fried chicken...if you're health contious and don't want fried foods I'd suggest you go somewhere else.

Beth M.

Yelp
Loved everything about it! Food was excellent, service was perfect and it felt like home. We had the fried chicken, collard greens and sweet potatoes! Delicious Highly recommend

Megan M.

Yelp
This place is a real hidden gem and a must visit if you are staying in the area. We drove about half an hour each way to get here from Hilton Head and feel strongly that it was well worth the trip. It's a bit off the beaten path and so only those "in the know" likely visit but despite this, the restaurant was absolutely bustling and full when we came for dinner just before closing. The setting is very quaint and rustic. There is an attached little market/general store selling merch, fruit and veg, and pantry items. The restaurant dining area itself is quirky and fun. Food is reasonably priced and plentiful. I really enjoyed my plate full of sides and appreciated that this was offered for vegetarians. Service was good and our server was friendly and prompt.

Kris L.

Yelp
Walked in to experience a little Southern Charm and Hospitality, NOT WHAT WE GOT! Was told, not asked to Go Wait in The Car after check in and their where obviously people waiting in the store. I asked if I could shop in the store was told yes but then was instructed again to Go Wait In My Car. I have a big problem with rude people. The worst part is I wanted to shop at their market but I won't support a place that treats people so poorly.
google avatar

Ashley R.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast/brunch spot! The food is soooo good and the service is amazing. Everything is so fresh, and cooked to perfection! I've never had fried shrimp and grits that can compare to Cahill's!
google avatar

Susie R.

Yelp
A gem!! Farm fresh to table. No complaints whatsoever. Our hostess was very friendly (a native Georgia girl!) and our breakfast was delicious! We will definitely return to try the lunch and dinner options or purchase the delectable veggies they offer in the market.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
What can I say other than, "Wow!!!" The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The creamed corn was incredible. My son tried the watermelon for the first time and loved it. Sausage gravy on country fried chicken was a new twist but still delicious. I think the best way to describe the meal was to say it reminded me of sitting down at my grandmother's table for Sunday lunch. Be sure to check out the store for fresh produce and flowers.

Staci L.

Yelp
I am surprised by the experience I had at Cahill's this morning. I don't know why they don't have this simple breakfast option on the menu (plain waffle, 2 eggs, 2 bacon). This is what I ordered and, based on my experience in the service industry, I assumed that I would be charged for a general breakfast "plate". Instead I was charged a la carte (7.99 waffle, 3.79 for 2 pieces of bacon, 5.49 for 2 eggs = 17.28). My fault for not confirming with the server ahead of time, however, it would've been appreciated if the server had advised me. I noticed a menu option that included a waffle filled with fried bologna, grits, 2 eggs, & choice of 2 bacon or sausage = 15.99 - clearly way more food than I ordered for a little less money. I brought the matter to a different server's attention and she said she'd see what could be done. Instead, our regular server charged my card and brought it to the table. I asked her about it and she basically said "you ordered a la carte, so you're charged a la carte". We left the table and I brought the matter to the manager's attention. I expected her response to be more understanding and accommodating with a brief explanation and a small adjustment to my bill. Instead I was told the same thing to which I responded with a displeased "ok, awesome". She then said Merry Christmas in a slightly over-cheery way, which wasn't received very well. It would've cost the establishment the small price of a little empathy, understanding, and maybe $2 or $3 refund but I was met with resistance and a snarky attitude. I felt dismissed and an unvalued customer. I see my part in this, but the dismissive attitude and behavior lost this place a customer. Also be aware of the .76 charge when paying with a credit card vs. paying with cash and a basic cup of coffee is 4.50. So, my total bill for this very basic breakfast was 24.33 including tax, non-cash charge, and a .22 HOSP charge (whatever that is?). Despite my experience I still tipped over 15% bringing my total charge to 28.33 for my meal. Never going back again.

Yelp
Loved this spot for lunch. Both my husband and I ordered fried chicken sandwiches (mine was spicy, his was the regular). The chicken was really tasty and juicy, and the entire sandwich was so big we took half home to eat later. Our meal also came with a side so I chose the avocado and black bean salad which was delicious. Unexpected sweet, vinegary and very tasty. My husband had the cucumber tomato salad I think and that was also refreshing. Cute ambiance and not that many tables but we were there around 2pm so there were no lines. They sold a lot of interesting items in the store.
google avatar

Pablo E.

Yelp
We split the fried chicken. Added 2 pieces. It was very tasty. We liked the atmosphere. They serve beer. Service was prompt and friendly. We decided to pay cash to avoid credit card fees. They didn't have any singles so we had to decide between leaving a smaller or a larger tip. We left a larger tip. Had banana pudding for desert. Everything was very good. I would go again.
