"Unless we’re massively underestimating the age span of our readership - or the general life span of humans in the 21st century - we can safely say that you probably weren’t alive during the 1940s. That’s exactly what makes a night at Cahoots in Kingly Court feel quite so unique. Inside a jazzed-up abandoned tube carriage, this is a 1940s, D-day celebrations themed bar with a live swing band and a seriously long list of excellent cocktails. It can be a little corny, but you’re guaranteed a whole lot of fun until the early hours. Heads up, there’s a minimum spend of £25 per person." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Where do I start. We moved into town and were very excited to check out this bar. We stopped by on a Saturday night in March and it was pretty quiet, which you would assume would call for good service. Wrong. We were in there for five minutes before a fight broke out and the bartender just strood there and watched. Then we play slots for five mins and we won $10. We hit cash out on the machine but nothing happened so we asked the bartender and he claimed no receipt printed so we didn’t win. It was literally $10 and we made that known, there was also a camera right there and we even noted it should be checked to verify, they told us they couldn’t access them. So we listened to screaming and lost our money and were called liars in a 30 minute span. We reached out to the owner on Facebook and they didn’t offer anything to compensate but told us the bartender didn’t follow protocol for such a situation. So admit your wrong, but do nothing about. We won’t be back, I would avoid this bar at all costs.

Atmosphere is perfect WI dive bar. Beer pours cold and fresh, with the exception of the Coors light which is dead (my mistake for not sticking to the local choice of Miller lite). Fish is great and crisp. Cole slaw is either not fresh or very heavy on vinegar can't tell.

Josh provided excellent service the night I was there. Tavern style bar, exceptionally clean. Food served during lunch and dinner hours.

My new favorite dive bar in town. Cheese Curds. Tater tots with buffalo sauce.

We're from out of town and my wife wanted a fish fry. My cousin's friend owns this well- located place and he made it happen for us:) on a Saturday! The fish was awesome and the place looks great and popular. Thanks, Kurt!

Fun townie bar with a great meat raffle!

Google
Best fish fry around hands down! Friendly easy going atmosphere. Good prices and selection of fine burbons, whiskey and tequilas. They half a lot of hard to get burbons as well. In the summer there is console outside and they have 3 dart boards. Plenty of seating everywhere as well.

Google
One our favorite bars in the Madison area. We love the Friday Fish Fry, especially the shrimp basket. Friendly staff and fair prices

Yelp
Great fish fry. Got the shrimp and cod combination grilled with Cajun seasoning, cheesy potatoes were delicious!

Yelp
This place is an old-school tavern style bar, on Railroad street next to Miller's Market. It has clean bathrooms, with drinks a plenty and freshly fried, quickly served bar food. This is a great hole in the wall with darts and music, great service, friendly patrons with generous hours.

Yelp
It's an unfriendly environment. They have terrible pours on their beers. The glasses come with a 1/3 of it foam. And the bar tenders act like you insulted them when you ask them to fill it more. The fish fry is descent.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great staff perfect dive bar stop old school environment gotta play shoot for a shot

John R.

Yelp
First, nice selection of beers and full bar. Great fish fry. We had the fried cod and the grilled walleye... both were excellent. Our only complaint was that our order took longer than expected, surely due to the busy Friday night crowd of locals.

Christopher B.

Yelp
Wow, the vibe, the food, the vibe. Wanna come back tomorrow! Had a really fun time and the service was great.

Tony C.

Yelp
If you want a solid cheeseburger, cold beer, you should visit this place. Bar tenders are on point. Friendly locals.

Samantha J.

Yelp
Best place to just hang out with friends and a wide variety of people! So nice to be able to just chill and be totally comfortable being yourself with welcoming people. Nice to have good music and darts to play too, super awesome place for downtime relaxing I'm so happy to have it so close to home

Phil M.

Yelp
Had a need to try a fish fry. Found this place and happy I went. Fish fey, cod, was on point. Which was purpose of visit. Cole slaw was ok as was generous helping of fries which I did not finish. Friendly crowd enjoying there Friday. I could hang out here if I drank more often. Friendly staff.

Yelp
Ordered via Uber Eats and made me wait for an hour before cancelling the order. The uber driver even went to this place and had to leave empty handed.

Yelp
One of the most uncomfortable, dangerous and unpleasant experiences I have ever had in 20 years of bar patronage throughout Wisconsin. The local group of patrons and bartenders were so overtly unwelcoming and disliking of my Latino friend that they tried to make him pay for other people's drinks and made low level threats and insults that forced him (and I) to leave the bar. I've never been so appalled at human behavior as this and I'm ashamed to live within 1000 miles of this establishment. Your 3 star review on Yelp is far too generous: Zero stars. Worst example of human behavior I've personally encountered in decades... Don't give them your business.

Yelp
Just had a great burger for a more than fair price. Seasoned beef and a sesame seeds bun. Everyone was nice.

Yelp
Friendly Wisconsin bar. Limited menu. Great service. Cash only

Yelp
Great bar, great people, great service! First off, the guy that wrote the bad review is writing it for the wrong place cause Cahoots has never taken credit cards so (pun intended) that guy's credit is questionable. Anyway, all of their appetizers are great, I've had the fish fry and it is tasty and filling (get the baked potato), I've never ordered a sandwich there so can't rate those. Overall an awesome place to get a drink or ten. Fun bartenders who actually enjoy getting you your drinks. Would highly recommend!

Owen W.

Yelp
Good fish fry. Good cocktails. What more could you ask for? First, you could ask the cockroaches in here to get out. Second, you could ask for better service. A while back, there were some nice bartenders, but now, ehhhhh... Third, you could ask to turn the music volume down. It's disturbingly loud in here. Try it if you get the chance.

James R.

Yelp
This is a fish fry review. Someone said the fish fry was decent at Cahoots so I figured I would stop in on a Friday and check it out as I'm on the hunt for the best one in the area. I'm a dive bar kind of guy, so initial entry didn't put me off. Service was quick as I sat at the bar, but being I'm in something of a dive, I'm not expecting politeness. I just ordered, had a beer and waited. The food came quickly, but it just wasn't very good. I had battered cod with a double baked (?) potato, a dinner roll and coleslaw. The fish was overdone and on the chewy side, a common problem on a busy Friday night in Wisconsin. The potato was nothing to write home about; fair at best but nothing I would order again. The slaw was good enough and the roll just fine. The best way to describe the fish fry here would be exactly what Yelp! gives for a two-star review: "Meh. I've experienced better." This fish fry isn't anything to write home about, but as a bar it's just fine.

Nancy W.

Yelp
Two stars because of service. We went on a Friday night for fish, and the food was really good, the service was atrocious! Perch dinner was hot and very tasty. Comes with fries or baked potato, roll and coleslaw. When we got our food there was no coleslaw so I asked our server if we were suppose to have it. He said they ran out. That was it, no sorry, no offer to substitute, no price reduction. We never were offered water, nor were we asked if we would like a second drink. In fact after dropping the bill right after bringing our food he never came back at all. Then there was the issue of "Cash Only". I think that should be posted on the front door, not a small sign behind the bar. We would carry out fish from there, but will never eat there again.

Spencer S.

Yelp
Great little bar when you're in the mood to shoot pool, play darts/shuffleboard, or just pump money into the music machine. Great liquor selection. Food is fine but nothing to write home about. I've had nothing but great experiences with the service. Teaser: one of the staff is an Olympic gold medalist - no lie. Real sport, too! Definitely stop in to grab a beer if you're in the area.

Dave P.

Yelp
Not a bad place to hang out if you find yourself in Verona. Local hangout, good selection of Wisconsin brewed mainstay cans and bottles (hamms, PBR), some microbrews, as well as a few decent taps (Capital). Thay have pool, darts, and shuffleboard. They also have a few large TV's, poker machines, and jukebox. They do have some food as well. FYI- they do not take cards, but have an ATM available.

Steve A.

Yelp
Good place to nurse a brew and watch the baseball with fellow sports fiends. I note that down the bottom there is a story about credit card shenanigans: they don't take cards in there, at least not now.

Whitney T.

Yelp
Great local bar with lots of fun people. Excellent bar owner and very energetic. Always a good time at cahoots!

Sam H.

Yelp
This place is a pretty fun bar - I go here to stare at the baseball - and definitely doesn't deserve the average rating that it has. I've never had the fish fry, but the beer is good, the conversation is good, and they have a meat raffle on Sundays which is also fun and has, in this case at least, resulted in the procurement of free meat. Hurrah!
