The 12 Best Wineries Near Lake Chelan - Seattle - The Infatuation

"You can’t miss Cairdeas if you’re on a Chelan wine tour—we mean this literally, as it’s impossible not to see their copper-roofed barn from across the lake. Taking inspiration from the Rhône Valley, the husband-and-wife team behind this operation produces bold grenaches and easy-to-drink red blends. Their rosé and white options, with notes of summer berries and stone fruit, are perfect for the area's dry heat, and they also have a Sodo tasting room if you don’t want to lug a case back to Seattle." - emily burks, carlo mantuano

We had a lovely afternoon with Danielle’s expertise and friendliness with helping choose some wine and boards. So we had the Grenache Blanc and the Nellie Mae - both wonderful Rhone wines. If you like French wines this is the place. Nice outside area with view - very pleasant! Staff very friendly. Just on the high side of the 150 highway - border of Manson & Lake Chelan. Make a date - you will be glad you did!!

Google
Amazing view here compared to a couple of other wineries right next to it if you are doing a tour and here on a sunny day. The wines here were drier and you could much more easily distinguish the earthy tones, chocolate notes, etc. the atmosphere is invitingly positioned for small to medium groups. People were attentive here. I enjoyed the reds most here.

Google
Our favorite winery in Chelan, hands down. Wine is head and shoulders above most of the area wineries, and the tasting room is stunning with enchanting views of the water. We visited twice during our week in town and the staff were unfailingly pleasant and knowledgeable. A must stop. Outside patio is dog-friendly, too.

Google
Great winery. Came for the wine and chocolate festival. The pairings were great and overall the wines were very good. They has kid packs of snacks and a drink which was awesome. Cool venue with amazing views of the lake.

Google
So nice to have a kid friendly winery. We went and sat on the patio for our tasting and the kids played a version of bocce ball. The wine was great!

Google
This place is above and beyond and pays attention to details. The wine was great, the server was so charismatic and fun, the bathrooms were so clean and I loved the comfy outdoor couches for seating. Wonderful winery. We brought our one year old and he was able to stretch his legs in the grass and the sand court.

Google
Visiting Cairdaes has become an annual tradition. We love the new tasting room with all its indoor and outdoor seating. If you enjoy Syrah, Mourvèdre or Grenache varietals, this is your spot.

Michael King

Google
Tasty wine in a fantastic location. Worth a visit for sure! My wife was very impressed with the attention to detail with bathroom supplies. #randomfact

Yelp
Incredible experience here! Incredible prices on tastings and bottles. Super kid friendly, with lots of activities for them! The owners seem lovely, and there is definitely a tremendous amount of legacy in these wines. Their kids make the labels and it's clear talent runs in the family! We left with 4 bottles!

Yelp
Lovely winery to start our weekend in Chelan. We enjoyed the flight option, and found the various blends both tasty and different enough we could pick out the subtle differences in the wine. My boyfriend's favorite was the Trí and my favorite was the Consonance. Would recommend for anyone wanting to explore the Washington wine scene. Make sure to get reservations so you can enjoy one of the seating bubbles overlooking the lake!

Yelp
Really great wines, especially their red wines with a gorgeous tasting room to match. Top it off with friendly staff who know their stuff and this has become one of our very favorite wineries in town!

Yelp
Cairdeas Winery is a great spot! The server was really warm, welcoming, and did a great job explaining the different wines and history of the place. The wine itself also tasted great and paired fantastically with the charcuterie boards on offer. Their Grenache dominant wines were especially good. There's really good indoor and outdoor seating with a great view and location next to a few other wineries. Overall great place with tasty wine and a comfortable vibe.

Yelp
We sat in an outside patio bubble for a tasting and it was great! Epi did an amazing job of describing the wines and then we added the chocolate pairing, just do it! Plus, we could bring our corgis to sit with us. Beautiful view of lake Chelan and the wine is delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
After we were greeted by the wine dogs, we entered into this modern, open space and were lead outside to sit at tables out in the sun. A few tastes of reds that I still can't pronounce tickled our fancy. I thought enough to join up and bring some home. Staff was patient explaining the all that. I think this was my favorite stop in Chelan.

Yelp
Pronounced "car-diss". (Gaelic) Beautiful winery with a copper top roof (you can even see it from the boat when on Lake Chelan.) Beautiful ambiance & views. The wine made from grapes grown in Rhone, France. Tasting = 4, 1 white, 3 red. Definitely recommend the Counoise! Delicious! I really prefer this type of wine as its not too dry. Light, fragrant & flavorful.

Yelp
Bring your own cheese board!!! A really beautiful winery in a beautiful setting in the mountains. Definitely would like to shout out our amazing Wine waiter-Epi. He was so sweet and knowledgeable. Loved getting to know a little about him and the areA. They do actually have small cheeseboards for purchase but you can bring small snacks in as well. A modern but cozy space with outstanding wines. They have card/table games all around, so it's an added touch of activity while you sip sip away your worries!

Yelp
View is probably the only thing worth coming here for. I guess I went with high expectation thinking it's next to Succession Winery so service, ambiance and wine would be great. We were a large group and had called in and made reservations outside before hand which worked out perfectly. These winery is two stories. Decent size. They were kinda busy but wasn't as busy as other wineries we had been to earlier. Service was slow so we opted for bottles vs tasting. We got to sample two wines before committing to a bottle. Between samples to bottles there was a wait as it appeared only one person was working. Wine was ok. We had a bottle of 2022 Grenache which was just ok. Our hostess was rushing so she opened two bottles for us so we were kinda stuck with it. It was very basic. The other wines we tasted were also basic. Something about the ambiance at this place was cold. It wasn't fun tasting here. We consumed our bottles and left within an hour. Our hostess also asked where we were headed to and we mentioned next door to Succession and she said make sure to take your car with you and not just walk over and she left. Our experience here felt very abrupt. Maybe they were short handed etc but I don't plan on returning to this winery anytime soon.

Yelp
First, I have to say we have been coming to Cairdeas for years as one of our go-to wineries in the lake Chelan area. We love the Nellie Mae, and this year I especially enjoy the Tri and concrete Syrah. But, can we also talk about this serious glow-up their tasting room just had?! It is lodge style and oh so cozy. The upstairs is for club members only, which honestly is only a 6-bottle commitment, so why not?! Their view from their patio is gorgeous and is just as enjoyable in winter as it is summer. So happy for this small business and to see their project turn out so beautifully!
google avatar

Sue A.

Yelp
Our favorite wine of our visit. Staff is friendly, efficient and informative. We purchased a few bottles to bring home!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Great experience. Lovely view from outside patio where we enjoyed a flight and lots of great information shared by the very friendly server (proprietor?). We bought two bottles to bring home and shared with some friends who are far more knowledgeable wine connoisseurs than we are. They loved the wines. We would love to return to this place someday.

Yelp
Fire, 2020 Papa, and s'mores, ate the s'mores. Now I'm gonna have to to the magnum. If I could just get the kids to pay for it.
google avatar

Michele G.

Yelp
This wine is fantastic!! The service was friendly and attentive! The view from the winery is awesome and totally worth the time to go and enjoy their wine! I love this place and always come here when I'm in Chelan! Please come visit!
google avatar

Yelp
The winery tasting room is easily accessible from the key routes and they allow pets outside. They do have club membership seating upstairs. We booked as a group and they seated us at two outside tables. So we started pulling a table the three feet so we could continue to be a group. One of the employees was extremely rude and clearly delivered the message she didn't want us to be seated together. I'm ok with them no wanting the tables to be moved but how the message was delivered was just inappropriately done. Our server was good and we looked after her appropriately. The wines are done in the Rhône style - based on their prices, I'd just buy the real thing from Europe.
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
Spectacular tasting room with Spectacular wines. These are definately the best and most interesting I've tried in my time in Chelan and the first that have been good enough to make me want to consider joining their wine club and get stuff shipped home to Seattle. My only hesitation is I'm already out of room to store all the wine I already have
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Rhône valley style wines were pretty successful. I've come here a number of times over the last few years and rarely encounter a wine i didn't enjoy. The tasting room is just big enough and the service is always friendly and helpful. The wines are just good. well executed and aren't some barely drinkable liquid. It's nice to find somewhere that has a perspective and the capability to execute well. Check them out!!

Yelp
Out of the 3 wineries we visited today, Cairdeas was our favorite! The service and ambiance was very down to earth, our server was extremely friendly, and best of all, the wines were delicious. We made a reservation online to sit outside, but there were still plenty of tables available since it's March, and the transparent canopy walls allowed us to enjoy the view but stay cozy with the heaters. The winery is about 13 years old, Cairdeas is gaelic for friendship, goodwill, and alliance. The $15 tasting we shared included a syrah, counoise, caislean an papa, consonance, and port-style petite sirah since they were out of whites. While the syrah was my favorite, I was extremely surprised by the dessert wine since it only had 3% sugar and the syrupy, chocolate-y finish was tasty without being overwhelmingly sweet. Bottles ranged from mid $40-$75, with the tasting fee waived with a 2 bottle purchased. 5% off 6 bottles and 10% off 12+ bottles, but they also ship for free if you purchase 6+ bottles! There's also snacks and merchandise for purchase, either as packs or ala carte, so we got some crackers and salame. Fun, no-frills spot, definitely recommend!

Yelp
We did a tasting here and enjoyed it, largely thanks to our somm, who knew her stuff and was fun. I grilled her with a lot of questions, and she consistently had good answers. The view is also quite nice, too. Cairdeas has a common Chelan story, which is just that the wine isn't nearly as good as what you find in Walla Walla or Red Mountain. All you can do is accept that and enjoy. Here, the wine is good but just not worth the price. I'd pay for $25-30 these wines, but for $45+, no way. So, enjoy your tasting and the good view and then point your car to Walla Walla for wine that is truly worth your money.
google avatar

Tim A.

Yelp
Great red wines. I love the concrete Malbec and Caislean du Papa. The upstairs of the barn is a great space for wine club members, and the leather modern furniture adds a class and sophistication not seen at many other places.
google avatar

Brendan c.

Yelp
Rhone inspired winery has some very unique wines for the region. The grapes the grow and source are rare if not missing from other Washington wines. $10 tasting is good value for the quality of wines. They have case specials that are well worth it as you might not find a similar bottle outside the tasting room.
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
Our last stop after a long day of wine tasting, we thought maybe our taste buds would be too fatigued by the day's work. They were instead revived upon encountering Cairdeas' particularly amazing Rhone-style wines. All hits. We drank every last drop poured, and both us and our friends signed up as club members before leaving. I only wish we lived closer by so we could come here all the time. We'll definitely make a point of returning to learn more about their operation and take in the lovely view on their patio with some of their delicious wine. Bonus points for the petanque court which we had so much fun learning to play.

Kelly G.

Yelp
Every wine is unique, concrete Syrah and stone ridge Syrah are my favorite. Service and the view is phenomenal. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
Terrific wine, especially the whites. In Chelan, expectations are moderate given how great the Walla Walla wines are. But every pour was strong, with two being stellar. Tasting patio was comfy, amazing views, and tasty charcuterie plate. Terrific service on a busy Memorial Day.
google avatar

Kay J.

Yelp
My fav stop in Manson. Or Chelan for that matter. Such good and consistent wine. Love their outdoor space. Can't wait for the new barn to open. Lots of good stuff coming out of here, you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Rochelle S.

Yelp
Charlie and Lacey, you both are the best! I just opened my fall allocation and it's so lovely! The packaging is impeccable and I especially love the magnet you included, very classy! I wish I was closer so I could come visit in person more often but I wanted to say thank you for the fall wines and your attention to details, even small ones like shipping boxes!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the wine here and the service is always excellent. Come enjoy a glass of wine by the fire and the views of the lake.

Yelp
We loved this winery. The tasting room was very well appointed and contemporary. The service was great, very friendly staff who was knowledgeable about the wines they were serving. The best part of all was the VIEW! Definitely would go back and we did buy several bottles.

Tarah A.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing in every aspect. The Owners, staff and resident puppies are all incredibly friendly. There is no pretentiousness about this winery. Dog friendly, kid friendly and parent perfect! Joined the wine club and will be make this place a frequent visit on our trips to the area. The wine is exceptional!! During our current pandemic, the staff all had masks and were following state laws with distancing, capacity and cleanliness. Each table had its own sanitizer and the staff kept masks on when talking to you. We felt safe and had a wonderful time. Would absolutely recommend making reservations. They make the process super easy with either call in or online reservations.

Sabree H.

Yelp
Drove up to this winery and it said reservations only, gave her a call since we saw her standing in there alone and she went and let us, in that was the best thing about the visit. The pours were less than marginal yes we always share a pour so we can then buy wine by the glass or the bottle. It was the smallestpour that we've ever seen and we've been winetasting for quite a while. She was so busy on the phone so it took quite a while to get the four wine tasting. We would have left after two but couldn't figure out how much money to leave her. Long story short we went up the road to Bensons and it's the opposite most wonderful experience skip this place and go to Bensons.
google avatar

Jaime A.

Yelp
My family and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and wine here! We had been wanting to try Cairdeas for a year or two after hearing good things about it. Our favorite was the 2015 Consonance. The staff was friendly and there was a lot of great seating with beautiful views of the lake and vineyards. Can't wait to come back with friends!
google avatar

Candi K.

Yelp
Woohoo! this place is great and the owners are super nice. This place was recommended to us from the previous place we were at and we weren't disappointed. Again, must be on a white wine kick (drinking too many reds this winter) and fell in love with the Northern Lights and Nellie Mae. They were doing a special that a case was 50% off and asked if I could do 50/50 of both and they said yes! YAY!!! which is also bad because it means I have more wine than I needed but each bottles is $25 and for the case its $150 so it was a great deal. Both wines are a white blend (one 70% Viognier & 30% Roussanne and another 50% Marsanne & 50% Roussanne) The wife and husband duo opened this winery and was very proud of their product. We got to try a lot of different things that wasn't on the list and I probably would of bought more but I was already getting 12 bottles...
google avatar

Summer F.

Yelp
Delicious wines! Enjoyed the reds more than the whites, though. Nice atmosphere. Lots of outside seating (with umbrellas) so you can enjoy some wine with a view. Tasting fee waived with bottle purchase.
google avatar

Kristi C.

Yelp
Charlie knows how to make wine, and the fact that he focuses on Rhone varietals scores big in my book. Quaint tasting room where focus is on the wine. Tasted the White Rhone Blend, rosé, and then 4 reds. Prob my favorite red was the C2- equal parts blend of Cab Sauv and Carmenere. Charlie had double decanted it, and it was tasting amazing! I took home two of those, two Tri and two of the Bordeaux blend, Consonance. I love visiting family wineries and this one boasts family, especially since the tasting room is in the back of the house! Great wines, great view, great people. You would be sad to miss this one!

Suzanne B.

Yelp
Nestled between neighboring wineries, Lake Chelan Winery and Succession, this was our favorite of the three. Nice selection of reds. We took home Caislean an papa red blend and Consonance red blend. Enjoy!
google avatar

Kayla H.

Yelp
Really nice tasting room but BUSY! Summer in Chelan means busy season for the wineries. If you are going on the weekends hit up the big wineries first because they will most likely be closing early for a wedding and be prepared for a lot of bachelorette parties rolling through. Both were the case on the day we popped in for a taste. The tasting room is very large but you could barely get up to the counter to get a pour. For some reason though NO ONE was out on the patio enjoying the beautiful weather, so me and the hubby retreated out there. The wine we agreed was good but Chelan you have become WAY over priced! $25 for a bottle of white wine...really? We are more red wine drinkers but because it is normally so hot in chelan everyone was pouring white wines.
google avatar

Beth L.

Yelp
Visiting this location was a recommendation from another winery. Cool tasting room photos around of the owners and their children. The wine hostess was friendly. We had 5 pours for $10 and then a couple extras added on. Did not care for any of the product. The owners were on site and because we were told the grapes were French I had to ask why. The reason was explained. I found it fascinating the one would choose French grapes and never stepping foot in the country. Friendly, laid back spot!
google avatar

V A.

Yelp
Great people and service during tasting. Very friendly and we're very informative with our group. We had many wine newbies and they felt very comfortable here.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Charlie and Lacey are fantastic hosts and winemakers. Their tasting room can get very busy but I've never felt like an inconvenience at any time. Different than most, their Rhône style varietals are a welcome offering. Try the Nellie Mae or the late harvest Rousanne! Wonderful wines of Washington- one of my absolute favorite places hands down.
google avatar

Butch R.

Yelp
Most tasting rooms offer one or two wines you like, but this one has nothing but good wines and a great view of the lake.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Wonderful family who owns this winery. They are so friendly and personable! Their wine was served at our wedding and will always hold a special place in my heart. Our favorites so far are the Consonance and Tri.
google avatar

Tawnya Y.

Yelp
The brunette working was so nice. The pours were better than the other places I've been today and $6 for tasting, pretty good! Wines were delicious
google avatar

Serena G.

Yelp
My family and I have been long time fans of Cairdeas winery, starting in November 2013 when they opened their doors during their off season to do a special birthday tasting for me and my family. Charlie and Lacey are so fun to talk wine with, they have a true passion for the area and wine making. Every time I talk with them I learn something new about the wine making process or wine in general! The tasting room is awesome! Open area to walk around or let your kids play while you taste, they usually have something fun going on in the patio area and they have some lovely merchandise! The wine is amazing- I love their whites in particular, so amazing and fun, these folks know what they are doing and it shows! Stop in ASAP!!
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
We'll definitely be back! Wines were delicious and the staff was helpful. Good atmosphere.
google avatar

Kendra O.

Yelp
My girlfriend's and I visited the tasting room recently! They only had 4 wines available at the time, but they were all delicious! The White Grenache will be one of my favorite summer wines. I will definitely be adding Cairdeas to the list for my next visit to Chelan!
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
One of our favorite wineries in Chelan/Manson. We love that it's a family run business. Their wines are to die for, especially the Tri! We love their wines so much we are members of their wine club. Definitely a must when making your stops at the Chelan area wineries.
google avatar

Serena S.

Yelp
The wine here is unbelievable! The family is lovely and the staff very friendly. DON'T miss this winery on your next stop in chelan.
google avatar

Cody R.

Yelp
Wonderful place and location. I never knew I liked Rhone style wines. We purchased a case of wine on the spot. My wife and I both liked the Tri and the Rose~. The story of their start makes me like them even more. We will definitely come back for more.
google avatar

Cass B.

Yelp
This winery is exactly what I love! Visited this past weekend on our first ever trip to Lake Chelan. Turns out the weather was unseasonably warm and gorgeous, making for an awesome wine tasting weekend. We hit a bunch and Cairdeas was by far, our favorite. The wine was amazing and the tasting room was unpretentious. The hosts were fun and friendly with lots of info. We purchased one of each of the bottles we tasted and joined the wine club. Definitely looking forward to trying the wines that come out of this great little winery.
