Caïus

"This restaurant is named after the chef's great-grandfather. Indeed, Jean-Marc Notelet keeps one eye on the past, seeking out spices and other ideas with which to reinvent recipes and put together a delightfully creative culinary experience. Quality ingredients are expertly prepared – the starter of pointed cabbage and clams is a masterclass; the snapper fillet, seared with great precision, is accompanied by a good helping of slightly spiced vegetables and a flavourful creamy bisque of green crab; the pear dessert is hearty and delicious. Inside this restaurant with a plain, discreet façade, two areas coexist: metal and leather on one side, velvet and light wood on the other, which has a view of the kitchen. Efficient and precise service." - Michelin Inspector

Had a very nice dinner here. Used the set menu. Salmon with toast and lemon cream was a nice shared plate. The beet salad for starter was delicious and fresh. The beef for mains was melt in mouth and went well with the carrot base. All delicious. Excellent wine recommendation.

The food was ok here, but definitely overpriced because of the location. I would say starters and desserts were of an average standard but then the steak was very good. I have marked down service and atmosphere (and food) because there were flies everywhere, which kept landing in food and drinks, and were all over the walls. It was not a nice experience and we rushed out of there. When we mentioned the issue to the waiter he was rude, and shouted, explaining there was nothing he could do about it. Overall this was our most expensive (and least enjoyable) meal in Paris. I would recommend staying and eating east of the city near Canal St Martin where there are loads of independent good quality restaurants. Since posting this review, Caius have responded to say that the restaurant has had full renovation and opened back up only a couple of weeks ago. I can confirm that my visit was on Monday 12th August which would have been after those renovations. My recommendation would be to have a professional clean of the restaurant and get some citronella candles for the tables.

What a gem! Brought a group of 10 colleagues for a casual dinner, and absolutely everyone loved it completely cleaning out their plates. All the tastes are exactly right, and the wine menu is extensive and decently priced. Also very good value for money on the food given that it's a 3 course dinner with a fixed price.

We got into this place by complete chance, as walk-ins, sat at the only table left for the evening. And what a surprise it was — the quality of the food and drinks is ridiculously high. The tarama, terrine and octopus are fantastic starters, the cod-based main is what I can only describe as perfectly balanced, and their panna cotta is the best I've ever had. A new Paris favourite.

Will come back. Good atmosphere, superb food and wine. Service also good (a bit slow) but very attentive overall. Highly recommended

This was the best meal we had in Paris. Every dish was well thought out and balanced. The host and the staff were all fantastic, very friendly, and more than happy to recommend their favourite dishes. The pâté starter is a must try, as well as the duck and beef cheek main dishes.

Yelp
Recommended by the concierge at our hotel Le Meridian Etoile (within walking distance). Very modern, eclectic atmosphere. The food was beyond!! Would highly recommend the prix fixe menu - 55 euro per person for appy, entree and dessert. Be adventurous on the menu - you will NOT be disappointed!!

Yelp
Absolutely exquisite cuisine here in a very modern-chic setting. This is a fabulous low-key restaurant in the Paris 17th arrondissement. Quiet luxury and restrained elegance in the interior, deeply flavorful and highly sophisticated cooking- perfect fish, incredible broths, sauces that are extremely well balanced, and perfect wine pairings. My family had an incredible meal here when we had a large dinner gathering in June 2023. Their champagne recommendations are also very sophisticated- unusual and very high quality champagne selections without being overly expensive. The staff and management here - along with the chef- are GEMS.

Yelp
It's been a little over a year since I visited this restaurant and I'm looking forward to my upcoming visit. Our group of four experienced French cuisine at its finest. I had the gnocchi with truffle and cod with potatoes so delicious. Hubby had a quinoa salad and chicken with avocado. It may sound simple but it was extremely delicious and flavorful. I live simple food and this restaurant does just that with a punch of flavor. My friend had the chefs choice cooked beef. This was surprisingly delicious, we were hesitate to order as it was chefs choice of cook doneness and let me tell you it was perfection. We will see you at the end of the year. Be sure to make a reservation.

Yelp
This is a fantastic restaurant. Beautiful food. Great location. I would definitely return. I tracked down this restaurant because I had been to Le Troyan owned by same people. When I told owner he was so cold. Shocked to be treated like that since I am from New Orleans. Oh well. Still would return

Yelp
So, THIS is Parisian dining! Food, service, atmosphere, Caius has it all. The course dinner was elegant and brought out the best in the subtleties of the seasonal ingredients. Some of the entree choices may be quasi-exotic for some tourists (steak tartare, raw cod marinated in olive oil...), but I highly encourage everyone to take in the local offerings... you're in France after all! Service was top-notch. The waiter was welcoming, and meticulously translated the entire hand-written menu and a handful of wines into English. His hospitality and warm personality never made me feel out of place for being a naive traveler. It felt like I was in a movie. Caius is a place to relax and to spend quality time with your food and company, and the delivery of each dish will be timed accordingly. Expect the meal to last over two hours. Yes, you should definitely reserve a table a few days prior to dinner. Frequented by locals, but--heads up--it's near the Arc de Triomphe; tourists do know about this place!

Yelp
This fixed menu restaurant does an outstanding job in both the cuisine and service. I recommend this restaurant to any and all that are looking for relatively simple selections of course and outstanding service.

Yelp
I guess you have to be french to appreciate this cuisine... I had lunch at this establishment from the price fixed menu. The entree was smoky, slices of raw fish on an oily bed of mashed olives. YUCK! Dessert was a flavorless Peach Melba. I will say the atomosphere is cozy and the service great. Otherwise, I don't recommend this place at all unless you are in the mood to throw away ALOT of money!

Yelp
Very cool, very delicious and very adventurous. Lost a star because service was super slow. I do recommend you go, just have nothing else scheduled for the night.
