The Best Viet-Cajun Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"This family-owned and operated hidden gem in Katy has a little something for everyone. Start with the jalapeño frog legs and boudin balls for appetizers, and follow it up with Bo Kho, its Vietnamese beef stew that’s served with a fresh French baguette. The seafood boils come smothered in your choice of sauce but the house specialty — Cajju sauce — is the perfect blend of garlic butter, Cajun seasonings, and other secret ingredients." - Brittany Britto Garley

Food is excellent!! The servers are so polite but new. The restaurant is very clean and the vibe is really nice. We especially enjoyed playing some of their board games while enjoying time together. This is the type of place I could hang out with friends for hours while snacking! Oysters are freshly shucked and the bahn mi was heaven in my mouth! The crepe is also something to be tasted. The shrimp were good and the house sauce has a creeper spice but absolutely delicious!

Google
Very friendly staffs and owner. They have plastic bowl, dish and utensils for kids, which is a plus. The dishes were delicious. I ordered 5lb of crawfish with store sauce, and was given a free extra 1lb. The price was right. Also, the grilled oysters were well made. My little one loves it. The atmosphere was a bit quiet. Restroom was clean. Overall, a good experience.

Google
It was exciting to see a new seafood place open in the community. Took my family to eat and we loved everything we tried. The service was very friendly and happy. The season just started so the crawfish is smaller but I was craving some and wanted to try their flavors. I loved the Cajju style. It was yummy! The batter on all the fried platters were really good and the gumbo was delicious. We will definitely be back.

We had been craving a seafood boil and will never look anywhere else for when the craving strikes again. Fresh seafood with unbelievable flavors. Can't pick a spice level of flavor to go with? They let you sample them to be sure. We ordered fries and they came out piping hot and crisp to perfection. Impeccably seasoned with a cajun touch. Cap it off with a Vietnamese Coffee and you cannot go wrong. We just finished lunch and we are already planning a return trip!

Google
Me and my boyfriend came in during lunch and tried their Bo Ne, a Vietnamese-style sizzling beef dish with two sunny side up eggs. The meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. We also tried the Shrimp Étouffée. The shrimp was delicious, and paired nicely with the roux sauced fluffy rice. Beyond the food, the service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. Overall, Cajju exceeded all our expectations!

Best chicken wing with different flavors for your taste bud 👌 best flavors are the lemon pepper , dry cajun, and Hawaiian habanero. Also amazing live crawfish Cajun spicy 😋

Google
Really good seafood!!! Such awesome flavor. We loved everything we ordered. We ordered whole fried tilapia, crab legs, shrimp, crawfish and shrimp fried rice. Really nice flavor. Service and ambience was good too. We went with our family and all of us enjoyed the food and the service.

Google
I visited this restaurant for the first time with my wife along; we were treated super nice by the staff and the owners. I waited to go back 3 times before I wrote a review to write something accurate. Next time I visited with my whole family and the service, atmosphere and locality are superb. The food specially the boils have an amazing sauce, also the fried tilapia was cooked to crispy perfection, I could say that the gumbo could use a bit more flavor and the shrimp po-boys could use more shrimp. Other than that everything else is great and I am planning on being a regular at this establishment.

Yelp
Food = amazing Service = mid Vibes = good music We came on a Sunday for lunch. The food was excellent! I got a some fried shrimp with fried rice and hush puppies. I also tried their lobster tail with Cajju sauce- it was amazing! Their grilled oysters were also really good! The service was okay. It took awhile for them to take our order but overall was good. My Thai tea was weird though. I didn't hate it but it also didn't taste like Thai tea. Overall- I'd come back here! I'm already craving more seafood!

Yelp
KATY, TX / VIETCAJUN SEAFOOD / DINNER +The customer service was good. +The crawfish were of decent size and fresh. +The seafood boil sauce was pretty good.

Yelp
Another Cajun place...but so many things to like here: the "glass" kitchen, customer service and menu options! Don't miss the Yelp Check-in offer for one FREE appetizer. The food: Boudin balls - Good, but I didn't care for the remoulade it came with. Fried shrimp basket - Cornmeal battered and crispy. Came with hush puppies and we subbed for sweet potato fries. Crawfish - Decent sized, but it could have benefited from more sauce. Casual ambiance, retro/contemporary decor, clean restrooms, and wonderful service. Def will be back to try the other menu items.

Yelp
We found Cajju through Yelp (how shocking lol) no but we were excited to find this restaurant. My mama and I wanted two different things. Cajju is BYOB and there is no fee to bring in alcohol/wine. That's a perk. We were greeted immediately by Steve and he was kind and attentive. He also shared that it was his first day. He went above and beyond to answer our questions. We really appreciated that. We ordered fried pickles, wings, shrimp fried rice, and a shrimp poboy. We learned that on Thursday's the wings are a dollar, cool deal for those that eat wings. Mama prefers all flats and that's not an option here, but she said they were okay. The fried rice was good along with the poboy. The fried shrimp are huge and the French baguette is a lot of bread. Overall, Cajju is a cool spot if you're looking for some seafood and want a place that allows you to bring in your own drinks. The vibe was chill and the place wasn't packed at all.

Yelp
It is not my first review for Cajju and it will not be the last. We really enjoy this place, great food, nice and clean place and excellent service and people. The snow crab with garlic sauce is our favorite plate. Not only great food and service but is a place where owners will be sure you are taking care of.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was good. Fried pickles were delicious, just wish there was a little more flavor in their Cajun sauce for their crawfish.

Xinyue Z.

Yelp
OMG, I'm impressed by the crawfish! I ordered the medium spicy crawfish with the Vietnamese Cajun sauce. It is so fresh, and tastes so good! I am kinda picky on seafood, this place perfect match my preference. The crawfish is full of flavors but not too much spice and salt, it keeps its slight sweet taste which is totally from the crawfish itself, not sweetness ( I can tell, because the fake sweetness usually stay on your tongue for long time and feel sick after eat it). The crawfish is so big, the one in the picture is larger than my hand! Do recommend this place and will visit again!

Yelp
It was my first time visiting Cajju, so I can honestly rate without bias: there are not a lot of establishments like this anymore. I cannot gush enough. The warmth of the staff, management, and ownership made me feel right at home, eating in my own backyard. It wasn't just the way they treated me but the way they treated every table before they sat down and on their way out. They expressed genuine gratitude for each party's patronage. You felt the family in family business. Jenny was a hit. She personally spoke to every table to ensure their experience was everything they expected and more. The food was remarkable. I know most of the menu offerings are common in the greater Houston/Katy area so I was skeptical but OMG it was delicious. The seasoning felt like it came from the heart. The cooking felt personal. Garlicky spicy Cajun goodness in my belly. I was visiting from out of state and the night before had eaten at two places in Bellaire (highly ranked on Yelp/TripAdvisor) that offered similar menus but those two simply did not compare. I cannot wait to return to Cajju with my family and favorite people. It was truly just one of those places you leave feeling like you just embraced a whole restaurant family as your own.

Yelp
My friends and I really wanted a family style seafood meal and stumbled upon this establishment. We came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. The seafood prices in this economy are pretty high so of course everything is marked up. I ended up ordering crawfish and blue crab with cajju seasoning, which was the right amount of spicy and sweet. That paired with some white rice hit the spot. Our group basically ordered every possible type of dish on the menu and everyone was very satisfied with what they ordered. The service was top notch. Our server went above and beyond to answer our questions and make sure we were having an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant when I return to Houston.

Yelp
This is a great family owned place right on Spring Green Blvd. I've been twice and have gotten the crawfish with two different styles of seasoning. Both the original Cajun and the mix of the Cajun and their house garlic one were delicious. We've been happy with our service, it's not rushed and I appreciate that. The place is also extremely clean! The menu has many different kinds of items and we are looking forward to going back to try them.

Yelp
Had the crawfish TWICE this week because not only is it delicious, the prices are great and service was soooo fast Love yall over there I could get down with some crawfish there

Yelp
ROY was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! He was so great that I felt like I was in a five star restaurant. The main thing was he treated us like royalty. He also anticipated my needs. Our drinks were never empty. It was the simple things and he made us feel like family. Appetizers- oysters, sausage, eggrolls The chef decided to surprise us and make mini eggrolls with sweet sauce and it was amazing. The oysters were okay but relatively small which is not on the restaurant because they don't choose the oysters and you don't know until they are opened. Dinner- crawfish, snow crabs, shrimp pasta, vermichilli bowl. Crawfish were not as tasty but we all know the season is ending Snow crabs amazing, Cajuu sauce with medium spicy level, it was flavorable with fresh garlic in a butter seasoned sauce The shrimp pasta had a homemade sauce that was tasty but needed a more cream base flavor to add richness. The chicken vermicelli with added shrimp was tasty and filling. I enjoyed my first experienceCajun SeafoodEgg RollsVermicelli BowlA

Yelp
Hands down the BEST crawfish in the Katy, TX area. I had the "house special" sauce and it was just the right amount of spice with great flavor. The size was medium to large and if you buy 5lbs you get 1 free. We also tried the beignets & gumbo which were amazing. I'll definitely be back SOON for more crawfish and to try the other menu items. They should add other hot sauce options like (Louisiana, Crystal or Cholula) and please get some mustard. A for sure MUST have if you eat crawfish. The service could've been better we kept having to ask for refills and it wasn't overly crowded. The food came out fast and the order was correct. The ambiance was very nice, small & quant with a glass kitchen for added viewing for those who like to see their food prepped.

Yelp
3% Credit Card Extra Charge without Notice I'm typically a generous tipper and always appreciate waiter's service with our dinings. However , when I was asking extra pair of gloves , the owner / manager told me I could buy another one for 50 cents . Excuse me ? ? ? When I was paying the bill, I found 3% credit card extra charge on the bill without any notice. I did not say anything and just paid 18% tips then left Food was ok , I just didn't enjoy the feeling of dining there
google avatar

Vance W.

Yelp
Great service. Very fresh oysters and the boiled combo was spicy and delicious. My wife and I got the double combo and were stuffed. Being that it's early in crawfish season the crawfish weren't fresh (frozen) but still had good flavor. Our waiter was very honest about that up front which is very much appreciated. We will be back try more of what's on the menu.

Yelp
I visited due to the high suggestions of some Facebook members in the Facebook food group. The hype was so real. The food and flavor is good. The service was amazing! The owner was very attentive. He talked to us and was super kind! Staff also checked on us multiple times. Crabs 5/5 Both were well seasoned. The seasoning reached the inside of the meat. My hubby was so happy he didn't even need to really dip in his side sauce. They were tasty and soft. Some places can really overcook and dry out the crabs, this place doesn't. Grilled oysters 4/5 I really like how saucy these were. Not basic at all. It's like a sweet savory sauce. Just my personal preference, I'm more on the salty side. I definitely recommend though! Well cooked. Mini eggrolls 5/5 I love these things!! Great for kids and my favorite type of wrappings. Fries 4/5 Fries are fries. Usually always okay to me. Can't really go wrong. Great for kids. Fried pickles 5/5 My hubby really liked the breading on these.

Yelp
I got to see the owners during my visit and they were super nice! The service was good and we ended up ordering a few lbs of cajun flavored crawfish as well as some oysters. I would say that if you prefer spicy food to go for the spiciest option for crawfish for extra flavor. The ambiance was nice, since it wasn't too crowded and was very family friendly! The one thing I would suggest is a drink menu but overall I would recommend going here!

Serena C.

Yelp
The place was okay service was okay it's nothing to brag on I understand the price of the seafood but most of the seafood they had was not fresh seafood was actually Frozen seafood but they charge you as though it's fresh I'm not complaining about the prices just it was okay

Yelp
First time at Cajju the other day and loved loved loved it. It's been hard to find a good spot that has great flavors with great prices but I hit the jackpot. On top of the food, the service was spot on. Chelsea was my server and she attended to my every need. She had great recommendations and was very attentive. I can't wait to come back soon!!
google avatar

Rina H.

Yelp
Food was extraordinary! We so love it! We found our seafood spot now. Everything is fresh! Service was very good! Very friendly and accommodating. Ambiance was very nice and clean. They have an opened kitchen, you can see through the glass how they make your food!

Yelp
Had to scratch a crawfish itch and saw raving reviews for this place. Price for live crawfish here is a little pricey at $10.89 per lb but the flavors are delicious. They have both live and frozen crawfish here. We visited on Friday night so they also had a special for snow crab for $8.99 for two clusters. We tried the house special and Vietnamese Cajun. I love both flavors and would say the main difference is Vietnamese Cajun is more garlic and house special is more citrus. The crawfish itself is soaked but maybe for a little too long as some of the tails were a bit mushy. Fried pickles were delicious and very crisps which we loved. Staff was very attentive and on point. Very spacious on the inside and not too noisy. They are also BYOB! Will definitely be returning once crawfish season is really going because their seafood sauce is spectacular! Check them out.
google avatar

Vilma P.

Yelp
I was a fan of this place, their single combo always a great option. But today the food was not top notch. The shrimp was mushy and black, the owner was very dismissive and not willing to do anything about it. It's very disappointing to see how small business owners are not taking accountability for poor service and poor quality food. Will not come back and will not recommend this place to anyone. And I was offered no resolution and paid full price.
google avatar

Walter W.

Yelp
On paper the menu looks great, but unfortunately it was far from great. We were expecting The Boiling Crab type of meal and were VERY disappointed. For starters the "Cajun" seasoning shouldn't even be considered seasoning. Everything we ordered was so lightly seasoned you could not even taste it. We ordered 3 boil bags (crawfish, shrimp, corn and potatoes) everything tasted like it was straight microwaved to order. We asked for Viet Cajun Spicy level of seasoning and got virtually no seasoning what's so ever. Cajun fries were just lightly dusted with seasoning as well. This placed missed the mark on so many levels. Definitely will not be back.

Rachel L.

Yelp
We love coming to Cajju for our seafood fix! They have excellent dine-in deals every day and their happy hour menu has a variety of items to try. We enjoyed (4) oysters, an order of (4) chicken wings and 1 lb of crawfish for $5 each on the happy hour menu. The oysters were fresh, the wings were perfectly coated/crispy and the crawfish were large and tasty. We came on a Friday and took advantage of the 50% off snow crab deal - they were so juicy and delicious! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant itself has always been pristine every time we have visited. We especially love the view into the kitchen! The bag hooks at each table are so convenient and thoughtful. Lastly, we were able to watch the Astros game live and now we will definitely invite our friends to watch live sports with us here while enjoying delicious food in a clean environment!

Samir K.

Yelp
Imagine ordering 100+$ food thru ubereats, get charged for it, arrive to the store to realize this whole time place is closed. First and last time i've ordered from here.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Cute little spot for a date night! The atmosphere is awesome! Service is great! && the crab and shrimp were phenomenal!! Will definitely go back!
google avatar

Hieu T.

Yelp
Fire! This place is really good and not just for Katy, but for anywhere in the Greater Houston area. I haven't had the chance to try everything on the menu yet but from what I have tried, it was very good. One special item that they have on the menu is the Wagyu Bo Ne. It is a Vietnamese version of Steak and Eggs with onions, paired with a buttery French Baguette and Pate/Banh Mi Butter. I've already had it twice here and it was really good both times. Now I dont have to drive all the way to Chinatown to get it on the weekends anymore and it is actually better than most of them anyhow. Nice clean spacious place, the service is good, and the location is perfect for me. I will definitely be back to try more of the items on the menu
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try Cajju after seeing posts on IG and checking out Yelp. Food was excellent. We we tried the raw oysters, they tasted extremely fresh and were a good size. The whole fried tilapia was moist and had great flavor. The tamarind crab was really good and priced great for the amount. Also started with fried pickles. Service was outstanding. The we ordered onion rings with our fish. When it came to the table they let us know they caught their mistake and said the rings will be out. That's how it's done! Cajju is located in the space previously occupied by Hurts Donuts. There is an open kitchen. It's pretty cool to see the busy kitchen action. We will definitely be coming back. Lots of menu left to try.

Reana S.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of having the New Owner and her Chef Husband cook for me. The food was fresh & hot. The coffee was absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be back and let all my friends know.

Vicky S.

Yelp
So disappointed! On Saturday 12:00 . Only two people here! The Cajun Shrimp lack of flavor! The egg , sausage tast weird! We went to surfing crab at Corpus Christi! It was so so good !Here the food no flavor only salt We ordered soft shell crab are very salty. Never back again!
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
I kept on hearing that this place has really good crawfish. I finally made a trip to Katy to give them a try. I usually like going to Crawfish Cafe, but recently they lowered their quality. In short... I found a new go to place for crawfish! Their vietnamese cajun was so good! Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Rick F.

Yelp
Was hungry and had an hour to kill nearby, so tried this place. First off, it is a Vietnamese restaurant, not "Cajun". the few menu items called "Cajun" are not. Foods are like a lunch cafeteria. Place is new, modern, and very clean. Waiter enthusiastic if not knowledgeable. Plenty parking in large strip-center lot. My opinion, based on my one brief visit, is that they should offer some standard Viet dishes. I wish them luck ! Rick .

Mary S.

Yelp
This place was great, food was amazing and the desert was delicious. The staff was friendly and customer service was on point. I will definitely be back. The Ambiance was nice.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to the Katy area! If you love flavorful food, please come and try Cajju Seafood and Grill. My husband and I wanted to go somewhere new for a date night. We opted to come here as we like supporting local businesses. We were greeted immediately as we walked in. The ordering process was efficient. We noticed that it was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Even the restroom was clean! We ordered a variety of food, and I am glad we did. The gumbo was phenomenal; the pork bahn mi was delicious. The frog legs were moist and flavorful. The raw oysters were fresh. The Vietnamese sautéed crab was EXCELLENT. The owner Vince was there to make sure we were comfortable and everything was going well. We could tell how passionate he was with his business. We truly appreciated his hospitality and the hard work everyone was exhibiting while we were there. I would definitely recommend this place. My husband and I plan to return during one of free times. I have a feeling this place will be very popular soon!
google avatar

Shantel K.

Yelp
Food is absolutely amazing. Tons of flavor, good portion size. We ordered 2 pounds and finished them all. The corn and potatoes had lots of flavor as well and did not disappoint. If you love Cajun you need to check them out
google avatar

Lynda T.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've been back but it's only due to the change in hours. We use to frequent this restaurant weekly and enjoyed the food. It was a quick stop to grab lunch. Service is fast and friendly.
google avatar

Jana A.

Yelp
Decided to try this restaurant on a Friday night and it didn't disappoint! The service was excellent and the food was great. We had the Nola dry rub and lemon pepper wings. The wings were freshly cooked and full of flavor. Luv luv luv the wings. I had a bowl of gumbo it was good. We also had the Cajun chicken pasta and it was delicious as well. Definitely recommend this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised and will be going back. The vibe was family friendly and relaxed. The staff was nice and made sure we were happy with our order and drinks. The menu has a lot of seafood dishes and I can't wait to try other items. Our selections were from their late evening happy hour menu and all of it was delicious! Go check this place out.

Yelp
Fantastic new spot in Katy for Vietnamese-Cajun food! If you don't know what that is, look it up. It's a thing! Upon entering, head straight to the cashier and order your food. Tables are assigned at the register. Easy, breezy, beautiful. Service was exceptional! Staff was friendly and provided a very positive experience. Everything was brought out very quickly, water, utensils and condiments, without hesitation. Wait staff were both friendly and personable, which I appreciated. Don't forget to tip at the register before you sit down! Gumbo -- 5/5, very easily one of the best things I've eaten all year. Yes, it's mid-January, but still! Dish came out steaming hot, served with a side of homemade garlic bread. Not overly salty or bland. Every bite tasted better than the last. Good amount of shrimp, sausage and little bits of crab made this my favorite item. Banh Mi (Cajju Specialty Pork) -- 5/5, bread comes from a local bakery. It's fresh, fluffy and has a nice outer crunch. Pork was grilled nicely, tons of fresh veggies and a fine buttery spread. Was the perfect lunch on a chilly 50° day. Overall, this is a fantastic new joint! It can definitely hold its own against a nearby Katy Asian Town. Will 100% be back to try their crawfish and crab. And may even become my new go-to for Vietnamese coffee.

Caryn C.

Yelp
I've tried this place when they first opened and I honestly didn't like it. But we decided to try again and the seafood didn't taste fresh to me, barely any meat. Very soggy shells for the crawfish and snow crab. If it's live crawfish it shouldn't be like that. It's crawfish season so not sure what the excuse is. I also read the owner said they can't control the taste of the crawfish which is terrible, it's your business so you can control it. Other seafood boil places do it, so clearly your doing something wfong I always get mild and it never tastes mild. It's just spicy with no flavors. I was really hoping to enjoy this place since it's so close to home but it's just not good flavor wise and for the price it's not worth it.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
I saw this place on Yelp and had to try it out. The place was clean, updated and the staff were friendly Also got to meet the owner, Vince who is a super nice guy. I purchased some oysters which were delicious and huge. For my main dish I ordered the vermicelli pork. It was excellent and the proportions were very generous. Sorry no pics this time but definitely going back to try some more of his dishes.

Yelp
The crawfish was delicious and the service very good as well! My little one is just now starting to enjoy crawfish

Charlotte L.

Yelp
First time coming to this establishment and I must say the food and service was great. The crawfish is amazing .. you have a choice of seasoning and what I chose house garlic :butter (medium) it was fantastic! I choose this establishment over LA Fisherman.. ect. Hands down! Our waiter Sean was exceptional! A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

Ryan Y.

Yelp
The seafood was fresh and tasty. Service was good. Nothing to really complain about it.
google avatar

Law L.

Yelp
The service and staff were top notch! The crabs were good with a fresh taste. I really liked the cajju sauce! The fruity flavor gave me a hint of New Orleans flavor. My husband had the Vietnamese Cajun flavor it was pretty good too. I will say it is quite spicy even though I ordered mild, so when I go back I'll ask for a bit milder lol. So good! I'll be back soon.

Steve H.

Yelp
Food was acceptable but overpriced. Po boy and fried shrimp + onion rings for $40 better be next level. That was not the case on this takeout order.

George M.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try because of the good reviews on Yelp. I should've known better and trust my instincts. I left very disappointed. I came here mainly for the crawfish. Most of the crawfish were tiny, and I mean really tiny. Even a shrimp is bigger in size. It wasn't fresh either. The outershell was very soft and the meat was mushy. Not a good sign of quality at all. This place was one of the worst I've had. Do not come here if you want crawfish. There are many better options. Flavor was very bland also. For the price that they charge for their food, it just doesn't match the quality. And for those who pay by credit card, their's a 3% fee that gets automatically charged. Just a heads up for those who didn't already know. This was my 1st and last time. I definitely won't be coming back.
google avatar

Shannen T.

Yelp
Great veit cajun seafood spot. Half price snow crab on Fridays got me there but the fried rice will keep me coming. They just need to add dessert and frozen daiquiri.

Joydip M.

Yelp
Did a take out today. The Crawfish boil was excellent - tried the Cajun flavor medium spice and also ordered their hugely popular combo fried rice. Excellent food, nice sized mudbugs and very tasty fried rice makes this place a winner !! Very good portions and great set of people taking care of you !!
