"Kitschy decor like fishing nets and captain’s wheels on the walls set the tone for a laid-back dining experience at Cajun Boiling. Crack into one of the butter-drenched signature boil combos of steaming crab legs, crawfish, shrimp, and more. For less mess, Cajun Boil also serves po’ boys and plentiful fried seafood options, all best washed down with a cold beer." - Natalia Mendez, Justine Jones

Yelp
Here is a 5-star review for a seafood restaurant: This place was incredible! My friends and I went to Cajon Boiling in Minneapolis and we were not disappointed! We were blown away by the freshness and quality of their seafood dishes. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch and the cashier was knowledgeable and attentive. The menu offered a wide variety of options, but we chose the Feast Combo 3 and it did not disappoint! All the seafood was cooked to perfection and the shrimp were succulent and flavorful. The atmosphere was fun and the music was even better. I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious seafood offerings. 5 stars isn't enough, I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Yelp
Shrimp and Catfish Poor Boy - very good. Not sloppy, but not big. This is a great space on a busy corner, check it out.

Yelp
We order F5. Calamari Basket and combo 1lbs of crawfish and 1lbs of shrimp head on. I was very impressed how fresh they are. Definitely come back.

Yelp
Great experience with great food. Easy to get to. You won't leave hungry. The hush puppies were excellent as well. I'll be back!

Yelp
BEYOND DISAPPOINTED!!! I do not care about inflation! THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM!!! You feel it's ok to false advertise a meal for three, when in fact, is a meal for one person, $87 for a pound of food?!!! What is wrong with you!!! When my husband called the man was passive aggressive saying he could refund us $3 and give us a damn coupon no man! WHAT We want IS WHAT we paid for! or a FULL REDUND on top of this bs Food was food cold and basic! Thank you for ruining New Year's Eve dinner for us! Will be posting on Yelp with pictures! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This meal is for 3 people ?!!! How?!!! One potato and one corn..

Yelp
This place was so bad , the boiling special sauce is terrible and watery and not flavorful, the scallops were overcooked and rubbery , would not recommend them at all. The crab legs were bad because of the sauce and they tasted stale , not fresh at all. The corn was good but maybe avoid this place all together if they only know how to cook corn...

Yelp
I recently had my first seafood boil experience & it was so much fun! We had a messy & super fun experience! Shockingly I seem to spill on myself everywhere I go except when I'm wearing a bib! My friend Ralph also taught me the proper way to enjoy crawfish! We went all out & tried so many great options. Shrimp & Snow Crab Leg Combo - comes with corn & potatoes Black Mussel Clam, & Lobster Tail Combo - comes with corn & potatoes Crawfish - comes w/ corn & potato For the boils you can choose you spice level. We started with a lower spice level on our first boil & then moved up on heat! We didn't do the spiciest. We both enjoyed the spicer one more & kept with the heat for the last boil. We also tried 2 Fried Baskets - shrimp & oyster basket. They came with fries which I enjoyed. The clams were my fav! Definitely check it out if you like a seafood boil!

Yelp
****WILL NOT BE BACK ***** I revisited to try out the food & enjoy the service. I still haven't had an opportunity to dine in yet. I placed an order on line, to go of course, for fried fish, steamed rice w/the boiling sauce. I was advised upon arrival that I couldn't have boiling sauce for my rice, since I didn't order the seafood boil. I asked Why, but was advised it was their company policy. Interesting.... Food was good. I was in a deep fried mood. I ordered wings, fried catfish & since I could not eat rice w/boiling sauce, I ordered sweet potato fries. I enjoy the food & it's literally down the street from my home (I live dtwn), but I will drive to Brooklyn Park to the other seafood boil restaurant Cajun Deli. At least I can order boil sauce with my rice there. Lol I won't be back I thought it was rude customer service

Yelp
I love their sauce! It was garlicky and buttery, I like my sauce with tons of garlic and they didn't skip out. The amount of food was more than enough and everything was cooked perfectly! I was surprised how much I liked the fried oysters.

Huzefa G.

Yelp
Ordered the crab with house sauce. It was good and flavorful but did not blow my mind. I do not like paying for it first and then getting the food because it feels awkward to order more stuff if you need.

Yelp
Don't go on sundays crawfish soggy twice now it's happened but it okay I still come back just not sundays

Mica L.

Yelp
Food came out very hott had delicious seasoning spot on like if you were in Louisiana! Our host wasn't a very friendly person. Kind of snooty to be honest. She wasnt very welcoming. Our flat soda came out in red solo cups. No napkins table was messy and had to have a code to use the bathroom. We went around 2pm so it wasn't busy at all. I would recommend going strictly for the food! Atmosphere would have been better if it was busy and had music!!

Michelle N.

Yelp
This place was amazing. Unassuming outside, order at the counter , have a seat ... but when they deliver this food it goes to a whole other level . My husband had the catfish and shrimp combo and said they were perfectly cooked and just the amount of breading . His gumbo with rice had tons of shrimp and okra and just the right heat. My steamed scallops were huge and had the perfect texture and taste (I got them with garlic butter medium heat) . They truly were the best scallops I have EVER eaten. We will be going back for sure !

Yelp
I ordered the "Feast Combo 2" which is advertised as: 1/2 lb of king crab 1/2 lb of snow crab 1/2 lb of no-head shrimp 1 corn 1 potatoe French Fries (Regular or Cajun) Firstly, I told them I would like to substitute the fries for more corn and potatoes, what I could was one more corn. Bringing me to a total of two corn and one potatoe... But most importantly, there is no way I got a total of a pound of crab legs and have a pound of shrimp. And I have attached a photo to prove it. They charge $51 +tax for this meal and it was not at all what was advertised. Wildly disappointed and will not be back which is a bummer. P.S. This got me so upset that I am writing a restaurant review for literally the first time ever.

Kelsey K.

Yelp
I had been craving crab legs and feeling extra lazy, so I wanted to find somewhere that delivered. That's actually very challenging around Minneapolis. I have Cajun Boiling a try. Now this isn't some fancy seafood dining, it's messy, juicy, southern cooking. If you enjoy Cajun flavor try this place out. First off, I really liked their menu options. So many things to choose from! We tried the feast #2 combo because it had a good variety. King crab, snow crab and headless shrimp. Plus, a potato and corn. This probably would have been enough for one person but we added some appetizers on as well. Get the Cajun chicken wings!! They were soooo delicious. Just this perfect crispy juicy crunch. The seafood also hit the spot. The king crab was definitely better than the snow crab and I would order straight king crab legs next time. They are just a bigger piece of meat so you really get that juicy taste. I also liked how you could choose the spice and flavor level. The only thing that wasn't the best were the the crab cake and calamari. The calamari were too big of pieces and quite chewy. Be ready to make a mess, but it was worth it. Prices are great for what you get as well.

Yelp
So, Cajun Boiling is at the top of the list of restaurants from which I order through GrubHub. I try to not order from them on a weekly basis, and this has been pretty much a total failure. So much so that I ordered on Saturday and just completed placing yet another a few minutes ago. I always get the same thing, with very few variations: The head-on shrimp with a 1/2 pound of sausage. I see no reason to pay extra for them to remove the heads. Also, it's great to suck on the heads before they go into the discard bowl. I get the House boil with medium heat. Unless I'm eating Asian food, I don't really like my seafood too hot. It, to me, takes away from the unctiousness when non-Asian flavors are introduced. My order is always right and I appreciate that the boil is double bagged. I use the outer plastic bag for the shells from the shrimp, so the mess is minimal. It also keeps my cats from going into the trash to retrieve the shells, so it's a win-win every time. The shrimp is perfectly cooked and easy to peel. The sausage is just a great add, having soaked up that wonderful elixir that is the boiling liquid. The chicken wings and fried rice are also good here. It's something that I throw in when I want a multi-day meal from the restaurant. I actually really like the fried rice, though it's not Asian style at all, to me. It has good flavor and balance and just goes down well. Prior to Covid, I'd stop by the restaurant for take-out every once in a while. Having it delivered makes it even easier for this to be a top choice for me. when I don't know what I want to eat and am only sure that I don't want to cook, this is what I usually get. The customer service has been great working directly with them, though I've not had any issues with orders. They answer questions when you call and don't make you feel like your call is a nuisance. When I'm back to picking up my meals and/or dining in restaurants, I'll be back to in-person dining here.

Yelp
First time in town, and this place isn't too far from my buddies, so we stopped in with high hopes and empty stomachs. I ordered the Catfish Po'Boy and the C6 1/2Lb Crawfish & 1/2lb Shrimp Combo and we split a basket of the Calamari. The Calamari was surprisingly some of the best that I've had in a little while, but I was disappointed that there wasn't a lot of it, it was essentially a basket of fries topped with a handful of calamari pieces. The Catfish served in the Po'Boy was actually fantastic, but I wasn't a fan of the sandwich as a whole, too much bread for my taste, and not big on places that pre-condiment your sandwich unless there's a "special sauce" or something unique going on (that wasn't the case). The shrimp and crawfish combo was delicious, I went with the house mix at a medium heat level and it was perfect for me. The house mix was fantastic and the medium heat level was just enough for an after kick to compliment the house seasonings. All in all I'd say that Cajun Boiling is definitely worth a visit and it's definitely a place I'd consider stopping by the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
There's been a lot of cajun places popping up in the Midwest, specifically MN lately! This is one of the first few places I've heard of. You already know, growing up in a SE Asian household, that we're all about seafood. I also loved going to the Boiling Crab in CA whenever I get to visit, so you best bet I was hella hyped when there's a similar concept seafood restaurant in MN. My friends and I ordered some things to share because we wanted to try a bunch of things. We got hush puppies, calamari & fries, oysters, and combo of crawfish/shrimp/clams in garlic butter. I actually really liked the oysters because it was flavorful. I also thought the calamari was good, but standard. I didn't really care for the hush puppies. Finally, the combo was enough to satisfy my seafood cravings, but nothing really extraordinary. It was a bit blander than I thought. It was missing the "ummpf" factor... However, I do think everything was decently priced for what you get. Therefore, I recommend coming here with friends, order to share, so that you'll be able to try a bunch of things. OTHER: Service was also a bit slow. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone came by to ask us about ordering.. but understandable since they only had two servers. However, there was also only 2 other tables of 3-4 people...so maybe it was just an off day. Parking was also hard to find...there's a lot in the back of the building that you can easily miss, so drive slow! Overall, I would recommend this place if you want immediate seafood craving when you're in the area. I'm sure there will be more places like this popping up in the neighborhood soon.

Yelp
Let me preface this by stating that I truly hate giving negative reviews and fully grasp that the chances of getting a truly authentic po-boy in Minneapolis are slim to none. However, I have to stay, this honestly was the worst po'boy I've ever had in my life. I went with the chicken and shrimp, and asked them to make it extra spicy. Not only did they not do that, but they put some sort of mustard on the sandwich as opposed to remoulade. Not only that, but the sandwich wasn't even fully dressed, either. On the bright side, I will say that the food was piping hot and they gave massive portions. Simply put, there is nothing "cajun" about Cajun Boiling outside of the name itself

Tonya R.

Yelp
Ate here while visiting tge MOA, very disappointed. We ordered the meal for 3, it was sad. 2 tiny potatoes, one ear of corn cut in half, 22 shrimp one tiny loster and a few tiny crab legs. The garlic butter sauce was nothing but butter and water. Its not a suprise anymore why we were the ONLY people in the dining room. For 125$ I could have went to the grocery store and ate twice as much. Wouldn't recommend.

Ryan R.

Yelp
The food was honestly sooooo disappointing. We had the feast #2, the Cajun wings and some Cajun fries and were super excited because the food smelled to good. The wings did not hit at all and were super salty (which is to be expected). But the boil was terrible, and for lack of a better word it was sh*t... because there was LITERAL fecal matter from the shrimps in the boil. Would not recommend it.

Jakesa T.

Yelp
This is a great place to go if you're craving some southern seafood; crawfish (and yes, it's crawfish not crayfish), fried shrimp, po-boys, and catfish. My fiancé and I were looking for a new place to try, he saw crawfish on the menu and forced us all in the car. The crawfish comes by the pound, is boiled and comes in 3-4 different flavors. It was quite delicious!! I really appreciate the fact that they put a whole roll of paper towels at the table for you to use. (You'll know why once you crack one open). The fried butterfly shrimp is deliciously fried in a corn meal batter which is slightly unusual but a good substitution. The fries (as I was told) just come from the frozen section at Walmart. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating and helped us find options for my son who has every allergy. We were able to get him some potatoes and corn which were allergen free. Be careful of the "steamed rice" it's what they use for their fried rice and is made with oil. There's a few desserts on the menu but didn't get to try anything. I was too stuffed. It looks like they're good for drinks and beer as well.

Trina V.

Yelp
I haven't eaten in person but have "treat yourself" Cajun boil delivered. It's so good that I've had it more times than I care to admit. I would highly recommend the crab legs and shrimp combo or crab legs and black mussels combo (each comes with two corns and two potatoes) I find that Tuesday orders tend to be pretty fresh, and i love either the house sauce or butter garlic (i typically order medium or spicy). The chicken wings are also delicious and crunchy, the sausages are also good, and so is the calamari. I am docking a star because the experience is not always consistent (ie: some weeks my sauce has less garlic than others or my crab and/or crawfish isn't the freshest in some orders).

Christopher K.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service cooked perfect definitely will be coming back location and parking not the best

Brittany R.

Yelp
This was such a fun dinner to order for delivery! If you are still feeling "not up for dine in" yet, GET THIS TOGO! It traveled VERY WELL! My BF and I ordered the combo meal (1/2 Shrimp, 1/2 crab legs) and wow, delicious! I will definatl be ordering again!

Shawn S.

Yelp
I was excited to try out a couple of the new seafood boil places in Minneapolis. This business is closest to my house so I started here. I had the mixed platter with the cajun sauce (shrimp, crawfish, corn, potato). I really like the concept of this place, the service is very friendly. I wish that the dishes were not soaked in butter. A seafood boil (a cajun one) should be spicy but not necessarily heavy. Even when I have crab/lobster back east, I forgo the butter since seafood is a healthy alternative. Our dishes were drowning in butter.

Renee' F.

Yelp
Such a good meal. Calamari was a great start, hush puppies were seasoned well. I ordered the snow crab and shrimp boil combo, mixed butter and Cajun spicy it was really good. Definitely worth getting in there and getting your hands dirty. I do not remember the servers name (so sorry) but she was friendly, fast and my water glass was never empty.

Katia V.

Yelp
Great place. Downtown parking sucks but it's in a downtown so I get it. Also they didn't replace the hushpuppies for extra corn like I wanted them too and had wrote in the special directions to do so... kind of disappointing. Otherwise food was great, I would suggest spicy just because it tastes better like that.

Swan K.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Price was on point. We ordered the famiky meal of 12 and it was plenty for group of 15. Sauce was delicious and staff was very accommodating for our large group. I would recommend this place for large family get togethers or team dinners. Great experience and fun to eat. Seafood was all great and tasty. Large king crab legs was my favorite and their shrinp fried rice.

Charles K.

Yelp
Called several places for a large team dinner and Cajum Boiling was very accommodating. Not only did they reserve a party of 28, but the food was flavorful and fun to eat. Give it a try if you want some cajun seafood!

Lynne C.

Yelp
Came in on a casual weekday because I'm always up for some good Cajun crawfish up here in good ole Minnesota. I feel like this is fairly new to Nicollet but it has some tough competition with other local restaurants, we tried it nonetheless!! We got the shrimp, crawfish, and mussels combo which was really quite tasty! Came with corn, potatoes, and sausage-- yum just how we make it at home. Pro tip, ask for gloves! It helps keep your fingers clean-ish as you chow down on your delicious delicacies! We also ordered some fried calamari and a side of Cajun fries which were also scrumptious. The calamari was a bit on the skimpy side but tasty. Even if you don't like spicy like us, at least do a medium spice level or else it tastes a bit bland. Only regret, otherwise it's a fun hangout with a calm vibe.

Melly N.

Yelp
Yes! Finally I found a spot that offers Well flavorful sea food! If you want large shrimp, oyster, and clam in Minneapolis, you must visit them. We have never ate there (b/c pandemic) the 3x it was all through DoorDash. Very reasonable price! There fried Cajun wings are delicious too if you like well seasoned fried chicken wings !

Appal B.

Yelp
Well... I went to do Sunday Funday here with a friend before I left to come back home to Texas. I am not interested in returning to say the lease. Here is why... When we walked in there was a really nice Asian woman behind the counter who wouldn't come from behind it to give us menus or sit us she just leaned forward "here, you can sit anywhere" (handing us menus). Then the server (red-head woman)looked as if she was on something.. she was licking her lips and had this weird blank stare on here face when I was trying to ask her questions about how to order my food. She had a very gross attitude as well and didn't seem to know what she was talking about or doing. I ordered half shrimp half mussels and asked for spicy and it wasn't very spicy at all. The food could've used a little more seasoning but it was ok for what it was and the pricing. The order was very inexpensive so I loved that. Will I go back? eh.. if that woman is not my waitress maybe.. But I believe the owner was there or the manager and she seemed really nice.

Nea Nea T.

Yelp
The seafood fried rice is bomb‼ the boils are alright mediocre at best ive had almost all the boils Louisiana, Housemix, lemon pepper and garlic cajun (which came with Raw garlic inside). All of these things have something in common BLAND AND LACKING OF SALT AND SPICES. Its watery and it doesn't stick to the seafood. Ive had better and i wanted to try everything they had because their quality of shrimp is amazing.

D R.

Yelp
I think some Minnesotans would not know how to handle this place. To me, it was pretty decent. Price was moderate-high for what you get, but I did walk away full. The boil flavor was good and options for spiciness is great to have. The seafood options seems expansive, but I am going to try them another time. This variety is why I think some MN natives would be like, "Shrimp with heads?!" I know some of my friends would not even try, but I think it is their loss. If you are on the fence, I would try out the cheaper boils and see if you like the flavor. My negatives: They were slow, but they might be stuck with less staff due to a post-covid world. Restaurant itself was clean overall, but a good thorough clean and new booth seats are due. That being said, I will be back and try another boil.

Nhilang1234 ..

Yelp
Great value and flavor! I went during lunch and ordered their lunch specials. Very delicious! Would recommend their shrimps and fried calamari basket.

Tarannum K.

Yelp
Amazing is the word. Got the headless shrimp with house fire seasoning and it is the best! Perfectly spiced like the name fire! Will definetly dine in sometime too.

Anita R.

Yelp
Food was aight but the playlist = fire 10/10 travis scott Service 10/10 our food came out fast and our server was super sweet!

Richard B.

Yelp
We ordered a home delivery of two of CajunBoiling delivery this evening and it was amazing. We enjoyed Jose Cuervo margaritas to help wash it all down. I had shrimp and mussels and my bride Doha's shrimp and clams. We were both clamoring for a Cajun experience. It was a successful. Both were absolutely delicious. I wish we would have added rice to our order to soak up the flavorful sauce that was part of each bag. For us, Cajun Boil is five star provider.

Himanshu B.

Yelp
Nice place, good service. Quick turnaround of food. Cajun fries were really good. Tried the Louisiana Cajun shrimp and crawfish, the flavour was pretty good. I am not sure if I'd go here again but def a one time go. PS : When deciding the heat , Medium in Cajun is 4/5 in Thai. Hot in Cajun is 5/5 in Thai. Fire in Cajun is 6/5 in Thai :P

Chelanne E.

Yelp
As a Cajun seafood junkie I thought I'd try the new kid on the block. The staff was very sweet and friendly. I tried two of their three sauces with crab legs, crawfish, corn, and potatoes. Sauces- no good, I'm sorry. I wanted so bad to like them. They failed at both the Cajun and the garlic butter. Seafood- crawfish was frozen even though you can currently get live crawfish... They are small right now, but live ones would've been way better than the gross frozen ones I had. Crab was poor quality as well. Corn- they must source their corn from the same vendor as Cajun House on uni? Not good. I did not try any of their fried options. Perhaps that is where they shine? Looks like for now I will continue to make the drive to Brooklyn Park for Crazy Cajun and their seafood boils.

Nora C.

Yelp
My friend and I have been craaaaaving a seafood boil for the past month. Like to the point where if you look through our texts, 90% of them are just us sending "BOIL!!!!!!!" back and forth. It's a real problem. We finally figured out a time on a Saturday that would work for dinner and then I began the deep dive to find a place to go. The power of social media showed me that Cajun Boiling had their 1 year anniversary special which sealed the deal! There's a good amount of street parking in the area and it wasn't hard to find a spot. They had us seat ourselves and I saw a good mix of booths and tables. Also if you're a messy little person like me who wants to wear garlic butter as a new blush, there's a sink at the back to clean up with. Thank Poseidon. Onto the important stuff, the food! We ordered 2 of the anniversary specials (each was 1/2 pound no head shrimp, 1/2 pound snow crab, 1/2 pound king crab), 1/2 dozen steamed oysters, Cajun fries, and hush puppies. Cajun fries didn't have much Cajun seasoning, but still tasty! For the boils, I recommend the house special sauce which is a blend of the three they offer. Also get some fresh lemon wedges to squeeze over everything, delish! Ugh, there I go drooling again as I type this. So sorry keyboard. Although it's a little bit pricier than other seafood spots in the cities, I definitely recommend trying this place!

Sean T.

Yelp
Good, but be careful. They gave us a to-go order with a fully eaten corn.... they did not do anything for us and said that we ate it ... WTF!?

Debbie E.

Yelp
This is the best kept secret in Minneapolis! Prices are great and you cannot go wrong!!

Ashley B.

Yelp
In the place The Reverie Cafe + Bar used to be. Very very surprised at the flavor coming out of this northern seafood joint. I ordered headless shrimp and fresh crawfish in with mild Louisiana Cajun sauce (after reading reviews on how the spice level is above average). I usually am a medium spice person, but the mild was perfect. My partner ordered the Soft-shell Crab PoBoy. It melts in your mouth, is saucy, and the bread is buttery with a crispy croissant-like outside. Needless to say we will be returning with more people.

Kemi J.

Yelp
Basically the sauce is fire could use more garlic depending on the day but the food is good quality for the price, I always go here. There's variety as well to choose from. The crab legs are always good quality sizing is good too basically worth your money if you ask me oh and the best part about this place is they actually clean their seafood the mussels and crab legs are cleansed throughly prior to being cooked color of it all speaks for itself .

Mai Nhia X.

Yelp
Ordered shrimp, House style, fire. Wasn't flavorful, not spicy at all. Does not recommend.

David L.

Yelp
Accommodated a large party of 30. Food was good and fun to eat. I would recommend the fried rice, lobster and shrimp. We had medium spice. - which wasn't too hot but full of flavor.

Liz K.

Yelp
Delicious! I will order again and again. I had crab legs with the house boil. I wasn't sure about the house boil so I asked for the butter garlic on the side. I ended up tossing it because the house was beyond! Support local businesses!

Galie J.

Yelp
Best Cajun Seafood restaurant in the Twin Cities. I always have a great experience here. Food is always good and I appreciate the amazing customer service as well. We'll be returning soon.
