The Best Bakeries In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for some great pastries in a room where you can sit down with a few people, put Cake and Joe on your list. The sweets look like art—especially the swirly matcha cheesecake and a Càphê Roasters mousse cake shaped like a wedge of swiss cheese. But they taste just as good as they look. Stop by the Pennsport bakery to eat dessert for breakfast with a cup of coffee." - candis mclean, alison kessler

The 18 Best Brunch Spots In Philadelphia

"If you’re looking for great pastries and enough tables for groups, prioritize Cake and Joe. The sweets, like the Raspberry Wonderland with white chocolate cake and raspberry cream, and earl grey brûlée with caramel banana, are fantastic. They also make savory brunch dishes if dessert for breakfast isn't your thing. Try the fried chicken cornmeal pancakes topped with spicy honey, a buttered shrimp and spinach omelet, and seafood shakshuka. " - alison kessler, candis mclean

On November 15th, my husband and I had a wonderful experience visiting Cake and Joe. Our server, Kimmy, was fantastic—she had a vibrant personality, was well-spoken, and knew the menu inside and out! I tried the fried cauliflower, which Kimmy recommended, and it was incredible—perfect for vegan lovers. It came with a sauce that reminded me of a mild, spicy yum-yum sauce, which totally excited my palate in the best way. My husband ordered a cold cut sandwich with applewood bacon on the side. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a comfortable table setting that's perfect for coffee dates or even doing some homework. I also can't forget the two cups of caramel lattes I enjoyed, made with oat milk and crafted to perfection. I highly recommend visiting—it's a spot worth experiencing!

Google
The place was quiet, clean, and spacious. The barista was super helpful and brought our drinks and food to the table for us. I got an iced Jasmine Tea, and my girlfriend got an iced Strawberry Matcha with oat milk. Both were super good and not too sweet. We also enjoyed sharing a Basque Cheesecake that I had my eye on. All in all, it was a great experience and I will definitely try their mousse cake another day!

Piper G.

Google
Last week my boyfriend and I went to Cake & Joe. The barista was super friendly, and we were served fairly quickly. The basque cheesecake we shared for delicious. The fresh mango on top was the perfect thing to balance out the sweetness of the cheesecake. Lastly, both of our drinks were well sized for the price, and they tasted great as well. I definitely recommend adding Cake & Joe to your itinerary if you’re in the area.

Google
The perfect Philadelphia coffee shop! Between the bright ambiance, ample and comfortable seating, vibrant drinks, and artful sweets, you could easily stay for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Ideal for meeting up with friends or hunkering down with a book to read or a paper to write. Yash and Liya at the front are so thoughtful, welcoming, and clearly talented! The food is elevated and high quality while the drinks are unique and well-balanced. Next time you're in South Philly, you have to check them out for your caffeine and sweet tooth needs. Dogs are also very welcomed and we always see the cutest ones here <3

Nice cafe, I went there with my friend. And the food was good and service was nice. I will come back. Strongly recommend the passion fruit mousse and chicken club.

Google
EDIT: Reducing my review due to the decline in food quality at this cafe. It seems they got a new chef and the food is suffering as a result. The last 2 times I’ve gone I’ve been dissatisfied with the food. Old Review: One of the best cafes in philly! The brunch was fantastic and flavorful. I got the salmon eggs Benedict which came with a side salad and my partner got the potato hash which came with an egg on top. Both dishes were plenty filling and we also got lattes and dessert. The vibe and atmosphere was calm and inviting and not too busy for a Saturday! I want to come back and try all of the seasonal pumpkin spice drinks, waffles and bakery items!

Google
I love coming here because the food and coffee beverages are really tasty. However, every time I come, I wait a ridiculously long time for takeout. A lack of staff really affects the wait times especially for take out orders. I’ll even order ahead of time through their mobile app to avoid the, but they won’t make the drink until you arrive there because they want it to be hot is what I was told in person. Great place but inconveniently slow.

Google
The cakes were undeniably cute and delicious, each bite bursting with flavor and creativity. However, I couldn't overlook the slightly high prices. While I understand quality comes at a cost, it might deter some customers from indulging regularly. Overall it’s a cute cafe.

Yelp
One of my fav go-to cafes to do work in! I almost always get the Iced Taro Latte (though the worker was super kind enough to make the Taro Coconut Latte for me before since that's a Fishtown only drink - which tasted so so good) I normally don't go for the cakes but the food selection is pretty good - just remember to place your orders early since the kitchen closes at 4pm! There's free wifi, bathroom available to customers, and plenty of seating but does get busy sometimes!

Yelp
Had some time to kill before a dinner reservation and came across this cafe. The oolong was great, very refreshing. The latte was a tad bit too room temp to my liking. But I guess that means I get more drink than ice so it's okay. Flavor was good. Interior was nice and comfy seating. Our orders were immediately taken and drinks came out fast as well. I would love to come back and try more of their menu, especially the pastries!

Yelp
I ordered the standard breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs (no meat). The scrambled eggs were okay -- a little on the dry side. The ciabatta bread was average but did a good job of holding the contents of the sandwich together. The cooper sharp cheese and the homemade mayo were the standout ingredients, adding much-needed flavor and creaminess to the otherwise dry sandwich. The interior of the restaurant (newly renovated) was spacious with plenty of seating, although I found the table seating to be noticeably lower than the, table, which might make using a laptop uncomfortable. I didn't try any of the coffee or dessert offerings during this visit, but if I went back, I'd likely just stick to a drink or dessert -- they all looked delicious.

Yelp
Great spot to hang solo or with a friend. The space itself is very cute and comfy. My breakfast sandwich was delicious (loved the addition of a fried green tomato) and my chai latte was also great. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I came here off the recommendation of a friend and glad I did. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and both thought the food was excellent. The staff were super friendly too. The ambiance is cozy. I like a coffee place to be inviting and not pretentious. I ordered the fries green tomato with cheese on a crossiant. It was superb. We ended with a cheesecake which was fitting. I really enjoyed having this experience. Overall if you are in Philadelphia check this place out!

Max K.

Yelp
The food was very good and they have a ton of coffee and pastry options as well. Will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items.

Yelp
Cute place with a wide open feel, seems like a great place to post up with a laptop and work. The open kitchen made the whole place overwhelmingly smell like bacon though, which some people probably don't mind but I thought it was oppressive. Really good oat milk latte though, the pastries are adorable so I'll have to come back to try. Probably would make great unique gifts.

Yelp
At here twice while staying at a local airbnb. The atmosphere is perfect. Quiet enough to work yet upbeat enough you wouldn't fall asleep. The cafe is very clean! All the furniture and fixtures give an industrial modern century vibe. Ok now let's get into the food! Both days I had a caramel latte hot. First day with no whipped cream second day with. I prefer it without the whip. We had the banana bread French toast! Absolutely amazing! The crisp on it was to die for, very dense but not dry and not too sweet. Fried green tomatoes were perfectly seasoned. You don't even need the sauce but if you are eating it you will be pleasantly surprised. It definitely taste homemade. Hash was okay, the proportion of potatoes is a bit much for me. My husband loved his shrimp omelette, I tried it and enjoyed it as well the flavors were subtle and fresh.

Yelp
Man I love this place! It's always a great time! The rose latte was top notch, the staff is amazing!

Yelp
Finally I got the chance to check out this coffee/dessert spot. The desserts are located by the counter and everything looked beautiful. All of them are mousse based. There's a sign advising that it be kept refrigerated and must be consumed within 2 days. Otherwise need to freeze it. I think those desserts will be consumed right away because the are very light and not too sweet. Perfect individual size. Mango: has mango purées inside, taste natural. It was gone in a couple of bite. One that caught my attention was a cheese-shaped dessert. Very cute Although they are mousse based, they hold up pretty well during my travel on foot and by bus in a warm day. Staff was friendly and pointed out to the storing instruction on the counter.

Jason G.

Yelp
We ate here 3x and can safely say that food, service and ambiance is phenomenal. From the unique coffee carriers, to the delicious fried tomatoes, there are plenty of little touches that make this place a must try!

Yelp
My husband and I like to frequent Cake & Joe. We'll usually grab one or two of the individual cakes and a drink to go but once in a while we'll stay and get some work done. Can't go wrong with free wifi, spacious tables, and some delicious goodies. It can get quite busy on the weekends because other people have the same idea but the tables will usually free up quickly. We first started coming here because of how aesthetic their desserts are; they're like little works of art. The flavor profile of the desserts and the idea of the sale of individual cakes is reminiscent of A La Mousse but Cake & Joe feels a bit more elevated compared to the more cute aesthetic of A La Mousse. The menu on their website is pretty accurate when it comes to what they regularly offer but I find that their Instagram (@cakeandjoephilly) is the best way to stay up to date with all their seasonal/limited time desserts, new items, and promotions. Food and Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Matcha Croissant]: A bit dry and the matcha flavor didn't really come through for me. - [Coffee Mousse*]: I don't like chocolate so I couldn't fully appreciate the dessert in its entirety but the coffee mousse part of the dessert was so light and airy and had a very pleasant coffee taste. I don't drink coffee so I liked that it wasn't bitter or too strong. - [Mango Rare Cheesecake*]: This is a bit of a denser dessert because it's a cheesecake but the mango jelly on top gives the dessert a bit of brightness and cuts the heaviness a little.  - [Passion Fruit Mousse*]: I like the airiness of the mousse and cream coupled with the bounciness of the mango passion fruit jelly. There is a lot of flavor and texture overlap between this and the mango rare cheesecake. If you're not looking to get both, I would recommend this dessert over the mango rare cheesecake. -["Who Moved My Cheese?"*]: A really unique dessert. While this isn't my go to choice of dessert, I think it's worth trying at least once. The cheese flavor surprisingly works for the dessert and is not too overpowering to the point of feeling savory. -["Rose Meets Lychee"]: One of their Valentine's Day limited time cakes. I prefer the "The Key" cake over this one but, if you like lychee, you'll probably enjoy this cake. -["The Key"*]: One of their Valentine's Day limited time cakes. The cake is mainly guava flavored and I like that it's a little tart and a little sweet. - [Lychee Calpis*]: Calpis is a Japanese light yogurty drink. I like the bits of lychee in the drink and it's my third favorite Calpis drink out of the ones I've tried. -[Mango Calpis]: I like the bits of mango in the drink but the drink is a bit too sweet for my taste. I can appreciate that the mango flavor doesn't taste artificial though. -[Passion Fruit Calpis*]: Passion fruit is naturally very sour so I think the passion fruit pulp pairs nicely with the slightly sweet Calpis. Once the ice in the drink starts to melt, I think the drink gets to a good sweet spot in terms of sweetness. It's my second favorite Calpis drink out of the ones I've tried. - [Grapefruit Calpis*]: This is my go to Calpis drink. I love grapefruit flavored things so it makes sense why this is my favorite Calpis drink out of the ones I've tried. When Cake & Joe first debuted their brunch menu, I really liked what I ordered, with the Oven Roasted Beef Sandwich and Green Summer (Honeydew Matcha Dessert) being standouts. Sadly, the original brunch menu is no longer there. I've tried their recent brunch offerings like the Cajun Shrimp Lettuce Wraps, Fried Chicken & Honey Cornmeal Waffles, Smoked Salmon Benedict, and Shrimp Salad Sandwich but they were all pretty mediocre in taste. I think their mousse cakes and beverages are more worth spending money on. Would I go back? : Of course! If they weren't a bit on the pricey side, I would go more often haha. The place is very inviting and always has good vibes as the staff is always friendly. My husband and I have also visited in different capacities: we've ordered their whole cakes for birthdays and gone there as an event space where a Wagyu Tasting Menu popup was held. I'm very happy to hear about their recent expansion to Fishtown and hope for their continued success.

Yelp
Friend and I went for brunch. We loved the nice clean vibe. For brunch we got the Joe's omelette and the chicken and waffle. The Joe's omelette was good, filling and seasoned well. The chicken and waffle; the waffles were good but the chicken tasted like bagged frozen chicken. Overall, it tasted ok but not anything special. We also got some mousse cake and taro latte. Which were my favorite part of the meal. We got a passion fruit and a pistachio and both had a very prominent passion fruit taste and pistachio. It was pretty too look at and it was delicious. We also liked the taro latte. It was pretty, can taste the taro and it wasn't too sweet either. I would definitely come back for the cakes and coffee. As for the brunch; not too sure just yet. Also love that they are dog friendly!

Yelp
The French Toast is out of control. One order is enough for two kids and a "eavesdropper" of an adult. Bowls are good too!
google avatar

Yelp
Cake & Joe is a cute little café located in Pennsport. I really like the vibe here. I passed it a few times while my friend and I were taking his dog for a walk, and the first thing I noticed was a cute little mural on the side of the building, so naturally, I had to take a picture in front of it. After we grabbed pictures my friend and I ordered some breakfast sandwiches to go and they were pretty good. They come on ciabatta with scrambled egg, cheese, and your choice of meat (I got turkey sausage.) The next time I head up to Philly, I'll def check out more of what Cake & Joe has to offer, their cakes and specialty drinks look yummy.

Yelp
We live right here and I come here to work sometimes. People spend a ton of time in here. Service is great and friendly and the woman at the front is so sweet. Music isn't too loud or too soft, it's just overall excellent ambiance. Their breakfast sand-which is the best one I've ever had.

Yelp
3.5/5 rounded up for friendly service and free wifi Came in to grab some dessert one early afternoon. Opted to get a matcha light cream cake slice and a Caphe Roasters collab item. Two small pastries came out to $18 and change. My partner and I both came to the conclusion that given the price, the flavors and taste were both subpar. Took a look at their brunch/lunch menu and found it to be like a child with an identity crisis. Pros: inside is cute and spacious

Yelp
*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* If you're looking for a nice cute cafe with aesthetically pleasuring dessert that's as delicious as it looks, this is the place. This cafe in south Philly is a great place to stop by after a meal or even to work or relax. Cake and Joe specializes in light mousse cakes in very unique presentations and they all look sooooo good. They have unique seasonal flavors as well. The cakes were not super sweet, pretty light but full of flavor. Coffee mousse cake - Definitely full of coffee flavor. I really like the cake base that goes well with the creamy mousse. Mousse is fairly light but rich. Passion fruit mousse cake - tangy and sweet. There's different layers within the cake, each with a different consistency and concentration fo flavors. This makes each bite different but well balanced. The ring graham like cracker is a great contrast to the mousse. Grapefruit calpis - this yogurt like drink reminds me of the Japanese calpico drink. Very refreshing and taste very grapefruitty but maybe a bit too sweet to my liking. A bit less sugar and it would be perfect. I would like to try their other flavors. *VERDICT* Definitely would go again if I'm in the area*

Yelp
I returned to Cake & Joe to pick up a few cakes for a birthday. I selected 4 mini cakes from the girl at the counter, who was about to pack them into two separate boxes, without asking how I would like them to be packed away. She was going to squeeze 3 cakes into one box, and one into another box. I stopped her and asked if she could put the 4 cakes into a one big box. She then proposed if it would be acceptable if she could fit two cakes into two separate boxes. Without getting angry, I mentioned to her again, that this was for a birthday, and would prefer if they all fit in one box for presentation purposes. I am already spending $30+ for these 4 tiny cakes. This was hardly an unreasonable request. Finally, she said she would go downstairs to see if they have any bigger boxes. She returned with a box for 4 cakes and proceeded to pack them away. All along, there were boxes, but she was just too lazy to go get them. I am very upset and disappointed by this poor service, and do not plan on returning.

Yelp
I decided to get my husband's birthday cake at Cake & Joe this year. We had been here previously, I like the Chocolate mousse cake, he liked the Mango Rare cheesecake, and that's what I got him this year. It's hard to find this type of cake in Philly, would definitely recommended it!

Yelp
This is our weekend spot to splurge on some good stuff! Rose Latte is a must! The servers are friendly and quick to accommodate. The ambiance is positive and spacious, seating is available due to many tables and bar section.

Yelp
Searching for a new dessert/coffee spot to hit up, Cake & Joe popped up on my Yelp app. Photos of their artistic looking pastries had us heading right on over there. I thought the aesthetics was very Cali even though we were in the City of Brotherly Love. The designs of these pastries look like something out of a science lab. If we lived on the moon, this is what the future of desserts would look like. It was hard choosing but here is what we decided on: - Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Cake - Pistachio Mousse - Oreo Mousse Cake Mousse me up...yessss, the light, airy, and creamy texture is oh so yummy. The Pistachio Mousse was my fave and my son loved the praline crunch on the bottom of the Chocolate Raspberry one. You can really taste the high quality ingredients, love that it was not too sweet. I'll be back to try their other pastries and I hope I will see new seasonal ones. Deciding on what to drink, I wanted their Double Chocolate latte but instead the guy suggested their Mocha latte with chocolate swirls. After conversing with him a bit more, I went back to our table and whispered to my son, Mocha is chocolate based? My son's reaction was just as surprised as I was...wait what? It is?. We both looked it up online and we had an ah-ha moment. Get the heck out of here, I never knew this. And I've had my fair share of Mocha coffees/lattes. I learned something new even though it made me feel silly not knowing this fact since I consider myself such a foodie. Their drinks here are some of the best lattes I've ever had. From the friendly service, gorgeous desserts and stellar drinks, it was an all around winner for me. Very exciting to find a gem like this in Philly. Note: make sure to grab a FREE doggie treat by the counter for your pup.

Yelp
What a cute place to hang out and enjoy some desserts! Staff was very friendly and patient with us as it was our first time there and we had a hard time deciding what to order! Everything looked so good. Will come back again to try more desserts and drinks

Yelp
All I can say is wow and yum! Stopped in after passing by this place for months while in the area for work. Had about 45 minutes to spear- so stopped in to see what type of things they sold. I ended up grabbing a bacon egg and cheese on a ciabatta roll, a slice of carrot cake, chocolate cake, bottle of apple juice and an iced black tea. The decor was nice, the vibe was relaxing and looking at all the pastries got me drooling. So many fancy type of cakes. I happen to be with my daughter at the time too and she was eager to try some of the goodies. We shared the bacon egg and cheese and she was raving about it. I liked it too. We had the slices of cake and they were so moist. The black tea was good too- just wish they had more then one. When I asked for 2 the woman said there was only one cup left.... Not sure why that was, but anyway we ended up getting a bottle of apple juice too to quench our thirst. Id give it 5 stars but due to it not having more drinks, I gave it 4. Oh and it's a bit pricey. We paid $26 dollars for what we got.

Yelp
Cake & Joe was the sole reason that I was late to an event, because I was in the area and I refused to not pass by without making a supposedly quick pit stop. I don't want to sound selfish atm, but I don't regret it. I parked about several blocks away, but happily skipped my booty over there. The interior was welcoming, warm and surprising very spacious. Very zen like vibes. Main show stopper are their display of beautifully arranged cakes. I had to refrained myself and just strictly pick 3 items -Rare Cheesecake, Pistachio, & Matcha Light Cream Cake. All were light and perfect little pinch of sweetness. I didn't care too much for the matcha, but the other 2 I would get again. Prices were a bit high. Trust me, I'm glad I no longer live in Philly because they would get a run of my money. Would like to explore their menu more... Will be returning for a coffee date with my love.

Yelp
Passion fruit mousse cake $9 was nice and tart Chile butter potato hash $6 was crispy was good Pineapple pancake was good Onion rings were really crispy Cream cheese dumpling mushroom soup $12 was decent. Bowl was hot but soup itself wasn't. There is a section reserved for bunch and the other open for the cafe/randomly sitting around.

Yelp
Cake & Joe is my favorite indulgence. Transport from Pennsport to Paris as you sip your fresh-fruit hand crafted beverages and swoon over the decadent, delicate dessert options. The chic, welcoming corner facade leads into a spacious and cozy dine-in area, allowing for more than adequate social distancing. They offer La Colombe latte on draft, as well as indulgent specialty lattes such as Cream Caramel, Mini Rose, and Double Chocolate. If you're feeling fruity, they offer their take on a Refresher. I recommend a Calpis, if you're feeling adventurous - a fruity, yogurt beverage that is both delicious and satisfying. You can watch their baristas as they make your beverages to order with fresh ingredients, and you can taste the difference. Don't get me started about their cakes. This is where Cake & Joe shines. I can personally recommend the rare cheesecake, the chocolate mousse, and the matcha cake. The desserts are so beautiful, you can't help but admire the amount of love and expertise that went into crafting these instagram-worthy confections. If you're not a sweets person, they do have savory offerings on their menu with a promise of brunch coming soon! Cake & Joe is a non-pretentious cafe that shines amidst a city of many coffee shops. This place is a true gem and must visit! Bonus - the entrance is accessible and nearby, free street parking is plentiful.

Yelp
The cakes are very pretty and Instagrammable but I honestly didn't think they were anything super special flavor- and texture-wise. I did like that the ones I tried weren't too sweet though. I was told that they freeze their cakes overnight, which is why they're available at 7 a.m. when they open, and you can definitely tell by the dryness of some components. However, they just opened so it's possible that they're still working out the kinks! I tried the Rare Cheese Cake ($7) and Matcha Light Cream Cake ($7.50). The staff recommended the rare cheesecake as a fan favorite; the rare cheese layer in the center was very rich, creamy, and cheesy. The almond cake and bretonne biscuit layers had a nice slight sweetness but were dry (and there were structural issues with the bretonne biscuit separating off), and overall I found it good/ok. I liked the matcha cake slightly more: the matcha ganache was very rich and thick, the matcha flavor was very strong, and as a whole it was even less sweet than the cheesecake. I didn't have any issues finding street parking. The staff members I interacted with were friendly and patient; however, like another reviewer I noticed one of the employees in the kitchen yelling at another in Mandarin ^^; Their menu seems to change pretty often so I'd be open to try new cakes if I lived in the area but wouldn't make a special trip for them.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood gem! They have coffees, teas, pastries, as well as breakfast items. I love that they also have an Asian twist on their offerings. Their drinks and pastries aren't too sweet. I've gotten the taro latte and rose latte from here which are delicious. Also have gotten pastries which are super pretty and tasty. They also make whole cakes that you can order online. Basically any small pastry that you see at the shop, they can make a larger version of, can serve up at 12-14 people. Cute little coffee shop that also allows dogs inside.

Yelp
Cake and Joe is a cute little cafe and brunch location in South Philly. The shop offers amazing cakes and great service with lots of seating which makes it perfect for studying. The coffee is good and the staff are really sweet! They were extremely helpful and patient. The cakes are also delicious, not too sweet and easy to enjoy. This is a great location business to check out, especially for AAPI month!

Yelp
nice place and bigger than i expected lol, lots of seating with free wifi, seems like a chill place to come and work. lots of windows and good vibes. we came a little late so they only had brioche left for my sandwich (wanted ciabatta) but it was good anyway. the double chocolate latte was good too, pretty sweet, nice and chocolatey. i got the cold bc its been warming up outside. good service, staff that helped us was pleasant and friendly. its nearby so ill come again for some joe and possibly cake

Yelp
We ordered the pistachio mousse cake and the matcha yuzu cake along with decaf americanos. The pistachio mousse cake had good texture but the pistachio flavor was overly intense. Most pistachio flavored desserts have a light pistachio essence. This dessert had a strong pistachio flavor and strong nutty aftertaste, like eating pistachios. It was Just too strong for my liking. The matcha yuzu cake was much more palatable. There was a good contrast between the green tea and citrus flavors. The americanos came out excessively hot. Like spill it on yourself and get burned hot. We had to keep the lids off and wait for the drinks to cool. This was even after having added half and half. I don't know if all the hot drinks come out this hot but as a former barista I don't think there's any reason for such extreme temperatures. Even McD's was sued for overly hot coffee. There is a tort just waiting to happen. All in all I liked the experience and will return to try the other desserts. But next time I might go for an iced coffee.

Yelp
Our favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Tha staff is friendly and they have dog treats for the furry friends!

Yelp
Roaster coffee mousse cake was okay. Vietnamese jelly-like mousse with vanilla cake and a chocolate cookie base. No dine in but apparently they will start allowing seating this week. We ordered the milk tea latte but it was a coffee latte.. pretty disappointed about the drink

Yelp
No doubt one of the best places in the city to get a coffee and do some work. I come here to study all the time and it has a great study ambiance. Truly one of my favorite places to get work done it's also totally fine if you take zoom calls or meetings while here. Usually feels like everyone is working but quiet talking is definitely okay. Coffee is delicious and their desserts/ pastries are to die for! Highly recommend any of their croissants. They make my favorite chocolate croissant in the city! Also staff is SO FRIENDLY! Every single staff member I've met is so warm and welcoming, they genuinely seem happy to work there.

Yelp
Cake & Joe is such a cozy cafe. Every time I come in here I feel so relaxed and can focus on my work. Shoutout to the barista because she is the best (very friendly & great knowledge on the drinks). Definitely try out their cakes & drinks! I got draft latte with hazelnut flavor this time and it hit the spot. Not to mention, if you are super hungry... they also have sandwiches too.

So glad I found this place on Yelp! I ordered a foam cold brew with mocha and two of the cakes (hazelnut and oreo). Unfortunately, we came a little later (5 pm they close at 6 pm) and some of the drinks couldn't be made but thankfully the cold brew was on tap. The foam cold brew is already pre-made so you can't request different milk but it was still very good! The cakes were also delicious! I loved that they were not too sweet and you could tell that there was a lot of thought that went into making them. They have a lot of unique flavors and seasonal items so defiantly worth checking in. Can't wait to come again and try more items.

Yelp
Passion fruit mousse cake $9 was nice and tart Chile butter potato hash $6 was crispy was good Pineapple pancake was good Onion rings were really crispy Cream cheese dumpling mushroom soup $12 was decent. Bowl was hot but soup itself was not. There's a section reserved for bunch and the other open for the café and randomly sitting around.

Yelp
Save yourself the headache and don't order cakes here. DECEPTIVE CAKE PRACTICES ALERT Here's a summary: - I was given the incorrect size cake - mistakenly charged TWICE for the same cake - bad customer service - no acknowledgement of wrong doing or apology I ordered an 8" cake for a birthday but the cake I received upon picking up was definitely NOT 8", it was so small I ended up measuring to check. They are expensive and the price varies by the inch (see for yourself on their site) so you would think their cakes are somewhat accurate in sizing. The cake was basically a 6" cake (see photos). I contacted them and sent them photos as proof. They denied this despite the evidence but agreed to refund me the difference in pricing between an 8" and 6" cake ($20). However, that was when I also found out they had charged me TWICE for the same cake. If I didn't notice this, they woul have gotten away with charging me $140+ for one tiny cake! No apologies were made or even acknowledgement of wrong doing. When addressing the matter, the employees were rude and refused to admit any wrongdoings from the business. Save yourself the headache and order elsewhere.

Yelp
I came after they opened but majority of their pastries weren't on display yet so we just got latte. I ordered the rose latte with oat milk and my partner got a latte, both tasted great. They advertise La Colombe. The rose syrup was very sweet in my drink with little petals floating on top. No latte art as pictured came with our coffee. Bummer. I love when baristas are serious about their latte art when it's pictured on their site It wasn't as hot as it could be so after a few sips my drink already needed a blast of heat. Will be back to try pastries soon I think

Yelp
It's simple...Cake & Joe The sweetest new cafe in Philly! The space couldn't be more chic, the bites couldn't be tastier or more gorgeous, and the couldn't have been kinder We had: Rose latte. Blood orange mousse. Oreo mousse. Mermaid refresher. The latte had the perfect amount of rose, the mousse was so decadent and made such a presentation!! I will definitely think of these when I gift cakes or host! The owner was kind and let me try a calpis and although the combo of yogurt & bubbles sounds gross, it wasn't at all! Delish & different. A must try! My daughter enjoyed her refresher and it had me wanting to return on a hot day for one. Sammies (think lox, egg & breakfast meats) coffee (espresso, lattes, drip, cold brew, black & tans) refreshers in lemon-mint, passionfruit & more. calpis (a Japanese yogurt/seltzer drink available in many flavors such as lychee, rose, mango, etc ) Refreshers in flavors like passionfruit & mint-lemon. Whole cakes are available upon request. Brunch coming soon! Big props to opening during a pandemic! We will be back soon!

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for a midday beverage. The mini rose latte is like a hug in a cup! Subtle rose flavor, beautiful aroma, and the rose petals are a nice touch for presentation! The establishment is spacious and clean. Very simple interior decor, but plenty of seating that is spaced out and clean. They have a variety of beautiful cakes/pastries and a decent amount of drink options from coffee, flavored lattes (chocolate, caramel, matcha, rose), and refreshers. This would be the perfect study session spot post-COVID! The only downside is that the area can lack street parking - it's a competitive area for parking spots!

Yelp
Nice space. The cushioned wide chairs are very comfortable and because they sit low it puts you almost at eye level with you laptop, great for your neck/back. I had a $5 vanilla latte. It was good but I will say the large was in a pretty small cup and they do not serve in real dishes. The cakes look amazing but I didn't try one this time.

Yelp
This bakery is an absolutely paradise! Their whole vibe when you first walk in is very relaxed, zen, and feels like an oasis of cakes. I got 3 cakes which were all fabulous, legit cried as I ate them. The raspberry chocolate mouse was my favorite, followed by the matcha cheesecake, then the chocolate mouse. The cakes are not too sweet which I love. Their lunch menu even looks amazing. The best part was the fact they are DOG FRIENDLY and my dog even got a biscuit. It's a win win for all. Definitely worth checking out and supporting during these tough times! Plus there's parking :)

Yelp
Beautiful, aesthetically very pleasing café. They serve La Colombé coffee beverages along with a vast menu of Refreshers. Food choices vary from unique breakfast and lunch sandwiches to their handmade desserts. I love everything about this place! The decor is minimalist, clean, and elegant. Will definitely come back just to sit back and relax. Follow IG: brews.andviews for more recommendations.

Yelp
Came here today to get some work done. It's a great place to work with free wifi and wall outlets. The chairs are big and comfortable. Its not loud in here, low volume music playing. I got the rose latte and rose cake and they were great. The lady working today was really nice and made my experience really personal. They also make sure everyone is comfortable in the cafe. Service is overall amazing. I would come back to read and work while snacking on the cakes :)

Yelp
Came here for an early lunch on a Friday with a party of three. We were able to grab a table easily and parking in the area wasn't too bad. I enjoyed my avocado toast, rose latte, and the two desserts we shared. I would come back in the future to sample more of the menu and do work/meet up with a friend.
