This is my go to bakery for cakes in LA. Everything from cake sandwiches (think fancy hostess ding dong), individual cakes and cakes for 100+ person events. Best of all they make a gluten free cake that tastes just as good as traditional flour version, which is a really big deal. Highly recommend ordering ahead off their menu to get what you want

So I’ve been in contact with cake money since last summer to plan my vow renewal “wedding” taking place in LA. Cake monkey never missed a beat as far as information, guidance, assistance, or execution. I am by far theeee pickiest person and was a bit nervous the entire planning of the wedding due to not physically being in LA until the weekend of. Due to still being on the east coast we could not even conduct a cake tasting. Thankfully cake monkey worked with me and set up a cake tasting packet for my sister in law to have. We fell for two flavors and could not chose 1 (German Chocolate & 9” Choco Malt). We decided to do a mixture of both flavors. When i tell you the day of my wedding the cake was not only simple, elegant yet beautiful (my theme) but ABSOLUTELY delicious. The way they mixed these flavors to where one did not overpower the other, but still gave you a pleasing and addictive want for more was just wonderful. I am very grateful for cake monkey and their professionalism, talent, and patience with how the run their business. Thank you guys very much.

False advertisement. They do not sell gluten-free bread or rolls. They say I could order it 48 hours in advance. They don't mention it on their website. Shame on his business and shame on Google.

I got an amazing birthday cake here that was so good. It was the best cake I've ever had, and somehow it was gluten free. I don't know how they do it! It's not located in the most elegant place, but the quality and deliciousness of the cakes truly makes up for the location. Truly my favorite cake bakery of all time. Go here to get amazing gluten free/ any cakes, you won't regret it!

Not worth the amount of money at all. you can get triple the amount at any other bakery for the same price. Items are super small, never worth $5 each.

We've ordered cakes and desserts several times and are always blown away by Cake Monkey Bakery! We are strictly gluten-free, and we cannot recommend their GF goods more - they are simply the best we've ever had! We recently had them prepare a large order for our wedding, and they were so accommodating throughout the process, allowing us to pick up a couple of rounds of taste-test boxes with a selection of desserts for a very good price. At the wedding, we could not keep the dessert table stocked for more than a few minutes at a time as our guests could not stop themselves from trying everything available! Most were completely shocked to find out that they were eating GF cake - Highly recommended!

Our friend Chris brought a Pecan Pumpkin Pie from this location to our Thanksgiving celebration. I know they use the finest organic ingredients and it showed...this is the most unusual pie I've ever had and everybody loved it... We had so many desserts this year and my guests loved every dessert especially this one. So grateful to all who attended and enjoyed our offerings... definitely want to check this bakery out extra soon! No photos. No pie left ;)))

Absolutely in love with the customer service! I called to ask if they had anything I can pick up since I was late in ordering but they accommodated to my request! Usually an order would be a minimum of 48 hours but they were quick to take my 24 hour request . They were so sweet , so welcoming and friendly. I ordered a vegan chocolate cake with triple berry it tasted like a gansito! I was able to pick up at the kitchen in north Hollywood so I didn't have to go to the store from all the way in LA! The bakery smelled heavenly and I was so happy with my special order! Thank you for everything!

Absolutely my favorite cake and dessert bakery, customer service is always on point and products are always fresh & delicious.

I ordered a 6 inch custom cake and they were able to do exactly what I asked for and more. The cake was SO good and was not too sweet and had an excellent texture. And the design was cute too! Highly recommend!!

Update: You CAN buy pastries here - you can order online and pick up at this warehouse like location. I called on Labor Day to pick up some treats on the way to a friend's and they said they had some availability for walk-in items. When I got there they showed me a menu (see pic) of what was available at the moment and I chose from there and was in and out super fast! Great to know this is an option but ordering ahead is prob best if you know what you want specifically. The location is at the corner of the street and looks like an office/warehouse from the outside. You ring the doorbell and someone lets you in. There is no display inside - just a waiting room/table prob for custom order appts. I recommend calling first! Their cakewhiches are delicious! My favorite was the black and white cookies and cream and the peanut butter marshmalldrool

We used to go to their location in Fairfax and when we moved to the valley, I was happy to find that they have a location in North Hollywood. This is our go to location for birthday cakes. They have a adorable little cakes that will remind you of childhood. Think super fancy Drakes Cakes. They also have Oreos with a nice cinnamon kick.

I had first tried some of their goodies at a gluten free fest several years ago, so when I wanted to buy myself some treats for my birthday, I decided to order from here. You can call in and order a pickup from this location. Parking can be a bit difficult (do not park in the car place by accident because he will come out within a minute and I would bet he will tow you.) I got the birthday cakewich, the peanut butter and marshmallow cakewich, and the mogul (like a snowball.) Everything was most and delicious even a few days later. I definitely would order from them again.

Cake Monkey is the first place that comes to mind when it's time to order a cake for a special occasion. I love ordering their mini cakes because you can try different flavors and it makes for a very pretty presentation! Most recently I ordered three mini cakes for a friend's birthday. I got the chocolate malt, confetti, and German chocolate cake flavors. It was so much fun to slice them up and share them with friends! The flavors were so on point, not too sweet, and the buttercream is perfection. It's very easy to order online and pick up curbside at the store. So happy this location in North Hollywood opened, but it can be a little hard to find and my GPS was having a hard time navigating me there. It's South of the bike path :) I also very much enjoy their breakfast pastries. Their muffins, scones and donuts are the best I've had in any coffee shop (Coffee Fix in Studio City has them). Overall, the selection of baked goods, cakes, cookies and treats is so impressive and I have not met a Cake Monkey treat I didn't like! Definitely check them out!

Some of the best cake in Los Angeles. Love their hohos. And their mini cakes are my favorite. Everything is always fresh.

It is highly likely that you will enjoy them, and a very low probability that you won't. Here's what I can tell you; - Whenever I have sent them to friends or staff, they rave about the goodies. - the cakewiches, which resemble a Hostess Ding Dong, are exceptional. Personally, I am a fan of anything that is prepared with White Chocolate. - Also, they make an amazing Lemon Bar. I bestowed some on friends of mine at the gym, who described the Lemon Bars as "the best I ever had," "addictive," and "dangerous." - in terms of delivery, my experience (and that of others) is that the goods arrive fresh and nicely boxed. I can't speak for others, but the deliveries have worked out well for me. - They will make custom goodies if given the appropriate amount of time. Staff members, including Danielle, are super pleasant and accommodating. This is a spectacular place. I have ordered from them quite a few times now and they have always come through for me. I have preserved last minute and they worked with me as much as possible to help me get a nice assortment of goodies. I have also ordered in advance and the cakes have not only been beautiful, they have been absolutely delicious! The vegan chocolate with raspberry is one of the best vegan desserts I have ever tasted, I am not vegan! The hard part is deciding which yummies to buy! The people have also been super friendly and inviting, patient and helpful.

I can NOT be more disappointed in how this turned out, I am so mad I spent $65 on a 6inch cake that NO ONE ate or liked ... the cake was described to me as a "rich & delicious" and one of their popular cakes ..... the cake had no taste , it wasn't even sweet , it literally tasted like you were biting into a stick of butter! It was so embarrassing because I was telling my guests how much they will love it and to see their reaction and that no one took more than 1-2 bites was just painful to see. I have never complained about a cake ever in my life. Very frustrating experience. The cake is need up being tossed in trash.

100% of the items I've tried here have been delicious! We did the wedding cake tasting selection, plus additional cakes and it was such an easy process to order and pick up. The final wedding cake was absolutely perfect.

When it comes to pastries and breakfast treats Cake Monkey is so good. They have some really wonderful variety of tasty treats. I primarily go to their Fairfax location and sometimes Coffee Fix but the Noho commercial kitchen is convenient when you need a bulk order. Hands down the best "almond croissant" I ever had. And trust me I have sampled plenty in my day. From the crispy exterior due to being double baked to the wafery inside it is absolutely scrumptious. The almond glaze they use in the inside is so tasty and flavorful. I have tried an almond croissant at so many other bakeries only to have the same thought. There is no almond croissant better than Cake Monkey's. There pastries, cupcakes and desserts are not inexpensive though so I try not to indulge too often.

My daughter chose this bakery for her birthday cake this year based on all the favorable reviews. We couldn't have been more disappointed. We ordered the celebration cake, which turned out to be extremely dry, dense and stale. The cake was the consistency of cornbread, while the frosting was barely sweet and seemed like whipped cream instead of buttercream. It was truly terrible. We wound up tossing the entire cake in the trash after her party. I don't know how this place gets so many 5 star reviews let alone how they stay in business. Very disappointing!

I'm so happy that I found this place... Now that I have children and I have birthday parties it was difficult finding a place in the valley to do any kind of custom work, most bakeries when you call don't even really want to listen to what you have to say if it's a custom cake... Well not cake monkey... they made my sons birthday cake exactly what I asked for, not only was the cake absolutely beautiful but it tasted so good... I mean it was delicious, especially when there's food coloring involved you don't really expect much but I was so happy and everyone at the birthday party LOVED the taste of the cake as well and there was no left overs ! Anyways thank you to everyone at Cake monkey! Also the location isn't that bad at all. Totally worth it :) (Toppers I bought and put on , everything else was made from cake monkey)

I ordered a last minute, custom birthday cake for my daughter, and it was fantastic. They made it perfectly to description, service was fast, and pickup was very easy. The cake was beautiful, delicious, and a big hit with the kids.

I really debated about giving a meh review because I want to support local business and the proceeds from what I purchased were going to a charity to benefit Ukraine. I waited until I ate two of the four items I purchased to give a fair review. I looked online at the menu and reviews here on Yelp and all I read were rave reviews about cakes ordered for birthdays, etc. it also wasn't super far from my apartment. As mentioned by others, this location has pre-wrapped small, hand cakes & cookies. The selection there was decent but not extensive (please see photo). Each cake was about $5, and one of the cakes was vegan. Bottom line: I expected so much more from what I bought. I purchased three hand cakes (chocolate & strawberry was vegan and I could not taste the strawberry jam) and one small chocolate cake roll (it was basically a Little Debbie Swiss Roll with peanut butter filling that tasted like granular sugar was the filling). I love sweets, and have never turned down any cake or pie but these were underwhelming. There wasn't anything special about them to warrant $5 for each.

My husband decided to surprise me with some delicious treats since my quarantine birthday didn't go as planned! He ordered the red velvet and chocolate cakewich as well as a chocolate babka covered in toffee. The cakewiches had hard chocolately exteriors with soft moist interiors. They were so good, I am still dreaming about it! The chocolate babka is like a big loaf of sweet chocolate marble bread covered in toffee. I ate a couple of slices and froze the rest for later! Highly recommend treating yourself! I mean after all they deliver and the bag is nicely wrapped and insulated. You can even let it quarantine for awhile! :)

I needed to get a cake a for a friend's baby shower and discovered that Porto's is no longer offering custom cakes. This ended up being a huge gain for me because it led to me calling Cake Monkey Bakery in North Hollywood. I spoke with Danielle who was lovely and so helpful. They aren't currently taking custom orders but I was able to choose the color of frosting and Danielle recommended some local businesses that sell cake toppers. I ordered a 10" brown butter chocolate cake with mint green Tahitian buttercream frosting. The cake was multi layered and delicious and well below the price point I was expecting. I will certainly be going back to Cake Monkey in the future, not only for their wonderful products, but for the extremely friendly service I received.

Cake Monkey does high quality work and is great for last minute catering orders. Favorites include the el Rollo, roll in the hay, cherry pie, cherry bomb, and those charming cakes.

Found them while on a last minute cake hunt for my anniversary/postponed wedding weekend. I kinda like the clandestine vibe of walking up to the door to ring the bell in an otherwise residential community. I should've called to ask if cakes were sold here... only small pastries are available. But the reps were super sweet and brought out to the door the menu and the mini raspberry cake sandwich I decided on trying just for fun. It's moist and definitely raspberry rich. The chocolate covering makes it a nice treat. Not sure if customers are allowed to walk in during non-COVID-19 times. Will stop by again when looking for a tiny delight.

Everything I've tried didn't disappoint. I love their cookies. Only once I received baked goods that weren't fresh. If I order delivery in the future I'd call to ask about the freshness before placing the order. I'll be ordering again for sure.

I learned a valuable lesson which is to make sure you use Yelp in conjunction with Google Maps. I decided while I was in LA to find and try a bakery with a cool variety of desserts. I decided to try Cake Monkey Bakery so I did a search in Google Maps and saw a location a little over 20 minutes away. I drove to the location which looked like it was in an industrial area, didn't see any signs, found the address but the door was locked, I called the phone number and found out that I was at the factory. I checked Yelp for the retail location which was another 25 minutes away At the retail store the staff was very nice and the selection of desserts were plenty. I was only going to get a couple of things but ended up with: a peanut butter roll which is like a Ho-ho but much better, red velvet cake which is like a mini Ding-dong but also so much better (both had nice flavors, not too sweet - just right, more dense but moist), a peanut butter banana chocolate chip cookie that had that a nice blend of flavors and slightly chewy texture so great cookie, lemon bar (still need to eat), blueberry pop cake (still need to eat) and a monkey cinnamon apple roll which my wife loved the roll, cinnamon/sugar and apple taste, she heated it and said it was fabulous (so score a point for hubby). I parked almost in front of the store so that was a bonus since most locations in LA are hard to patronize since finding parking is horrendous. Most of the items are around $4 and up but definitely quality desserts. I will go there again even with the drive when I'm in LA again.

From the photos, these cakes looked so original, so appetizing. For my birthday, I ordered an assortment to see which I'd like best. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of them. Neither did my party guests. Just a few comments: Scone: stale and hard as a rock Various cakes with buttercream: stale and sickenly sweet Too bad; I was hoping to have found a new bakery for special occasions. Very disappointing.

Bottom line: Cake is perfect. NOHO Location is scary AF. Read full review to understand. Last week we ordered the chocolate chambord Valentine's cake online for pick up at 10:00 AM on a Saturday. I had been eyeing this bakery for some time. The photos online show the west LA location (which is what I believed I would see at the NOHO location). I should have done my homework. Nope. It is a warehouse in the middle of a shady neighborhood and a stone's throw from a pot dispensary. When we drove up, there were 2 customers waiting outside and the bakery wasn't open. A few minutes past 10:00 the door opened and the first customer was able to get his order and leave. The woman behind him was told they were still icing her order and could she come back in 20 minutes.. We were next. The 2 ladies in the store seemed frazzled but said they were packing up our order and disappeared inside. Leaving us alone. Meanwhile, 3 scary AF homeless people rolled by drinking in broad daylight. One was smoking pot and was angrily talking to no one. We did not feel safe. As the pot smoke wafted our way the ladies inside the bakery CLOSED THE DOOR and left us out there for FIFTEEN minutes while they "wrapped up our cake." We felt so unsafe we hopped in our car and waited in front of their door. The lady helping us seemed puzzled why we looked terrified in our car, I told her what happened and she kindly said "stay safe out there.. " and we were on our way. The cake was perfect. Everything we dreamed of and more. I wish they would open a normal store front in Magnolia Park. Burbank would love them and I'd be first in line.

This is my go to place. I recommend: Cinnamon Roll Chocolate Roll with cream in the center Peanut butter Roll with cream in the center I DO NOT recommend: The mini Birthday Cake.... It hard to explain how awful it was. Maybe the larger one is better. I've been coming here for years and absolutely love the Swiss Roll.

So this is the only cake shop I have ever received a cake box with a sticker that says " they recommend eating the cake at room temperature " My opinion of this is because they use very cheap butter for the frosting and if eaten cold this cake sucks. It's ok at room temperature but much better options out there. 3/10 Pop tart was excellent. 9/10 Almond croissant 10/10

Delicious cookies and snack cakes and their birthday cakes are incredible too. Order in advance. You won't be sorry.

My old lady got cakes from everyone for her birthday, and one business associate sent her a box of goodies from Cake Monkey. Brownie cake slices, their high end equivalent of a ding dong and a yodel. There was more, but they went so fast in this house. As a New Yorker who can't get yodels and ding dongs and devil dogs (along with Entemann's Chocolate Chip Cookies) in Los Angeles, because they want to torture us, tasting these super high end reproductions was heaven. When I'm no longer overdosed on cakes from some family birthdays all near each other, I will go back to this place in a heartbeat and get some treats. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Everyone raved about the mint chocolate chip cake, but I missed it so I can only go on heresay. But the folks non the phone were super nice.

I wanted to get some "mini cakes" for my husband's COVID birthday just us two and this shop popped up conveniently close to our house! This particular location is just their commercial kitchen I think? I called the day before to order for pickup the next day and they were very accommodating. It was a weird area but I rang a doorbell and they came out right away with our items. The mini cakes were the perfect size (I think four inches?) for us and the cakes were really *moist* and a cuter birthday alternative to cupcakes in my opinion.

VEGANS! food allergy people this is THE bakery to try I have an egg allergy and looove pastries and I couldn't believe I just found this place! They have the best chocolate loaf ever! Delicious chocolate chip cookies! Definitely recommend trying this place, but beware it's ADDICTING

Stopped by this bakery to pick up some COVID safe desserts for a work birthday. The individual wrapped cakes are DELICIOUS! This is not a storefront, it's strictly a bakery, but you can knock and place an order in their small lobby. Highly recommend this bakery.

The service we received from the bakery at North Hollywood location was phenomenal. My fiancé and I made an appointment to taste some flavors for our wedding cake and the flavors were absolutely delicious.

I can't believe this bakery exists in the valley and my friend in Florida found it first! I received the Gluten Free Sampler Box as a surprise for Christmas. They delivery person was friendly and presented me with a well packed box in a bag. The presentation was beautiful with each item individually wrapped. The first item I tried was the birthday cakewich and wow wow wow! It was delicious, moist, with perfect frosting. Each item has been fantastic. I'll definitely order more from this bakery in the future.

Wanted to try different pies for Thanksgiving instead of ordering from Marie Calendars or Cocos. I found this bakery through Instagram. Their pies did not disappoint. We tried pecan, butterscotch & chocolate pudding pies. All 3 of them were so good can't wait to order again from them. Can't wait to try their mini cakes next time.

Love this place! Love the small version of each cake you can buy - allowed me to try multiple flavours instead of having to pick just one ;) My friend LOVED these for her birthday surprise. See you for my next birthday!

The prices are a bit steep but totally worth it the flavors are amazing! Like nothing I've tried, I've gotten mini cakes, chocolate toffee blondes and vegan cookies. Making an order on the website is easy just have to do it two days before. The staff is very nice and quick when you call to let them know you're out front. I order for special occasions and have not been disappointed.

Great choices of flavors. Incredible taste and the cakes were moist - and most importantly they were gluten free! Most other possibilities in the area had very limited gluten free choices. Will definitely return to Cake Monkey!

While I have tried several desserts And always enjoy them, I have to say, they have Absolutely hands down the best almond croissant!!! It is the perfect balance between flaky layers of buttery goodness and almond paste topped with slivered almonds. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable.
