Nice hidden gem! Very clean with a trendy upscale vibe. Small bistro type shop with delicious small plates, salads and sandwiches. Freshly made baked goods are delicious. I ate half of my sandwich (prosciutto and fresh mozzarella) and took the other half home so I could try dessert. Mini lemon bundt cake was wonderful.

Came here for a desert after having a brunch from other restaurant. Not much of varieties but they were very tasty. I wanted to have a dark coffee but it was not as dark as I expected. Latte and coffee took very long time to delivered to our table. This place looks like in and out place but speed of service was very slow.

Very nice lunch deli right in Decatur square. The lunch sandwiches were very light, good for a snack or light meal but you would need to order more if you were very hungry.

Food was just ok. Service was friendly but slow and uneven, had to keep waiting on waiter to show up.

Everything we ate was delicious. However, portions were a little small for the price. The steak was tough. For $28. I expected at least prime. If I ever win the lottery, or I am with someone with very deep pockets, I would go back. Service was excellent. Food a little slow coming out of the kitchen. ( I was hungry) It was nice to get the bread & butter to keep me going until food began to arrive. Love the service and food.

I feel bad giving two stars, honestly, but the service I had here made me not want to go back. The food was amazing, don't get me wrong, but I had some issues with the service. The dinner started off great with a very attentive server, but things went downhill quickly after giving our order. The meal was interrupted on several occasions by people changing out my silverware for reasons I don't know why. At one point, they took my fork and never returned with a new one. Then the food came, which was great, until there was a very much alive spider on my salad. Having not seen our server for about 25 minutes, we stopped the server at the table next to us to ask for his assistance. He took the salad, and promptly returned with a new one - end of story. No real apology from staff which I kind of expected. We then waited another 40 minutes (20 after we finished eating) for our server to stop and check in with us. At this point we wanted to leave and asked for the bill. I expected the salad to be removed from the bill, especially since no one wanted to eat the new salad but it wasn't. It may have been an off night. Like I said, the food was amazing, but I was less than impressed by the service at a fine dining establishment.

We had a phenomenal experience at Cakes and Ale! We had arancini and the liver mousse for appetizers and they were amazing!! The arancini was my favorite thing we order. We ordered the gnocchi, quail and the trout for meals. Everything was so amazing. The gnocchi had eggplant in it but it was so delicious my fiance who doesn't like eggplant loved the dish! We shared all the entrees and they were good portion sizes. We left stuffed! The trout was simply amazing! It comes as a full fish and they fillet it at the table so it was a fun experience! We also ordered a couple cocktails which were just as delicious as everything else! The overall experience and vibe of the restaurant is classy and relaxed. To top it off the staff was super knowledgeable and were able to answer question and help us decide on what to order! Great place! Definitely recommend for any date night!

Sammy was awesome and the cocktail was fantastic but it stops there. Waitress was cold and slow as was the food. Really cold steak and overdone fish. We went for the NC trout but they were sold out by 6:45! The chicken and greens was so salty it was not edible. After getting a top rating from Atlanta Magazine we made a reservation with expectations for an awesome dining experience and we were so disappointed!
