The Best Hotels in Malibu

"Quietly nestled on a 200-acre estate in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains, this nature retreat has been owned by the same family for five generations. Access to their beach club is worth the booking alone, but if you need more reason, consider the Ranch’s restaurants that source from their own organic farm, and their three separate pools, meaning you can always find a chaise to lounge in. Room categories include cottages, bungalows and estate rooms, each designed with sustainability and integration of the surroundings in mind. Private cottages boast outdoor rain showers, cloud-like Walker beds, and private courtyards to marvel at nature from your doorstep." - Krista Simmons

"If you're looking for a romantic getaway that's close to Los Angeles but feels entire worlds away, you won't find anything more fitting than the Calamigos Guest Ranch. Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, it’s also no wonder why this picturesque property has become a coveted wedding venue. The private bungalows and cottages, set within 200 oak-filled acres, offer guests a place to decompress and reconnect with nature. Built in 1947 and family operated ever since, this rustic gem features a vineyard and organic garden that grows strawberries and herbs. Beyond exploring their three pools and five restaurants, you can make a quick trip (twelve-minute shuttle to be exact) to their five-acre beach club for all manner of beach activities."

We were invited to photograph and film a wedding of T & J at Calamigos Ranch, and the experience was truly memorable. From a creative perspective, this venue is a dream. The ceremony space we worked in, nestled beneath the towering trees with soft light filtering through, gave everything a romantic, almost cinematic feel. The way the spaces flow together, from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, made the day feel seamless not just for the couple, but also for us as their photo/video team. One of the standout features of Calamigos is how it blends nature with elegance. Water features, string lights, wooden accents, and open-air layouts gave us so many organic, story-rich backdrops to work with. We never felt limited creatively, every direction offered something beautiful. The staff were also fantastic to work alongside: organized, professional, and helpful throughout the day, which allowed us to stay focused on capturing genuine moments without any logistical friction. For couples looking for a venue that’s both stunning and effortless, Calamigos Ranch is everything. And for us as storytellers, it's a place we’d love to return to, there’s just so much heart and atmosphere in every frame we shot there. – Anastasia

Calamigos is a stunning venue with an incredible team—especially Kurt and Connor! They went above and beyond during my client’s surprise proposal. Kurt was so generous with his time, showing us several beautiful spots around the property before we ultimately chose the vineyard, which was absolutely perfect. The lighting there was magical, and the surrounding scenery made it a dream location for photos. Connor was also incredibly helpful, guiding us through the process and offering valuable insight to ensure everything went smoothly. I’m so grateful for the amazing experience and can’t wait to recommend Calamigos to future clients!

We just had our second stay at Calimigos Ranch And it was perfect in every way. Our bungalow had an outdoor bathtub, completely private with beautiful trees overhead. A surreal experience, one I will remember forever. The kind staff goes above and beyond in every capacity. Kurt (reception) was our favorite, what a beautiful soul. The rooms are gorgeous and high end, the property is expensive, shaded with mature trees and impeccably maintained. They have three pools so there is always chairs available, sun or shade when needed. The Pickleball courts are fun and well kept. The spa is beautiful with yummy tea always available. They also treat your furry loved one like family. Overall I can't imagine a more perfect spot to spend a weekend with someone you love. Or even if you need a peaceful getaway on your own. Great job Calimigos!

I came for a company event and I just fell in love with the place, it's pretty big and elegant, you can get lost in here. The service was amazing, very friendly staff, and there are three waterfalls! I want to come back some time for the spa!

It's beautiful.. relaxing, spacious grounds in the mountains NW of Los Angeles. Great location for events, weddings, company picnics, gatherings as well. Very helpful and courteous staff. I didn't stay at the hotel so do not know about the rooms.

If you're looking for a special place to create unforgettable moments with your guests, I highly recommend Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. As a wedding planner, I can confidently say that the venue’s natural beauty is breathtaking, and the lighting was stunning, creating the perfect atmosphere for my clients' special day. The food was definitely a highlight—especially the steak, which was incredibly tender and delicious. It was truly a joy working with Event Specialist McKenzie Haisley throughout the planning process. I'm grateful for the amazing experience and all the support she and the entire team provided!

Google
Beautiful venues, that being said, it is not "family" or handicapped friendly. The staff was lovely, warm and helpful. Food was great and overall it was nice. Don't bring your younger children or strollers. Also several locations are not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers.

Yelp
I got married here on 10/13/22 in the birchwood room and we had a great time! It was everything we dreamed of and the staff was attentive. I had a full time planner which I highly recommend. Thank you for a romantic night I will never ever forget! We now have a baby and moved our lives out of state! Thank you for such a romantic wedding. I grew up in this area so it was super meaningful to me. The food was fantastic! I'll attach some Photos from our tasting. P.S my photographers videographers coordinator and Dj had access to full bar and food just like the guests. They need sustenance too! Cheers!

Yelp
This venue is perfect for weddings of all sizes. There are plenty of rooms to choose from and each room has its own characteristics. The food is amazing! It is quite a drive from the San Gabriel Valley area for guests but it's still a good venue for celebrations. Not a fan of the flies and mosquitoes but it's part of the package due to the location in the mountain area.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of planning a wedding at Calamigos Ranch this past month and was blown away by the level of professionalism and care that went into helping my client and I. As a wedding planner, it can be a challenge to find venues that provide quality service and care from the start to completion of the planning process, but Calamigos and their team went above and beyond! Lauren has been extremely helpful - from answering all our questions, sending check-in messages, being prompt and available for calls, and assisting with load-in the day of the wedding. Not to mention the last minute tweaks to details that she handled with ease. She also has amazing an amazing sense of style which I'm sure comes in handy when assisting couples envision their big day. Jenna, our banquet captain, was also exceptional and stayed on top of every single detail. Weddings always come with its fair share of minor adjustments, but Jenna and the team didn't even bat an eyelash. And beyond simply getting the job done, she really took the time to check in with all the vendors and ensured we were well taken care of throughout the event. Beautiful event spaces, stunning natural features, incredible food, and the sweetest staff - I'm not sure you could ask for a better venue than Calamigos Ranch! Alana Godoy Godoy Events

Yelp
Beautiful property, we have been at friends weddings here, so we like the venue. Very easy to find, they have good signage, classy decor, big place, very Californian in a good way with lots of nature and vegetation around, very green. We have been here in the winter as well, still nice and woodsy, great decorations during the holidays. Calamigos Ranch is a nice getaway, very close to the city!

Yelp
Calamigos ranch is definitely one of our favorite stays! Thanks to Kurt and his exceptional service/communication I was able to plan a dream vacation and an awesome surprise proposal! Kurt went above and beyond when it came to planning and coordinating our trip/ proposal! We are definitely going to be back! Such a beautiful and relaxing stay!

Yelp
WOW! Just wow at this place! We came to Calamigos ranch for a birthday dinner. This place is huge! It's over 200 acres and we got a bit lost at the beginning looking for the restaurant But i wasn't mad at it. It gave us a chance to take a look around. We came at night and the lighting/chandeliers in the trees made everything look like a fairytale place i swear! I can see why a lot of people choose to make this place their wedding venue. Nonetheless, the food at the Calamigos guest ranch and beach club restaurant was amazing! It was super intimate and the inside was just so warm and inviting. The staff was great and we basically ordered the whole menu. NOTHING we ordered left us disappointed. It was all very flavorful and I liked that it was like an asian fusion theme. We'll definitely return because from the moment we arrived to when we left we were left in "Awe" the staff was amazing as well and we loved our waiter.

Yelp
What a beautiful venue for events! This ranch is very classy, beautiful, and gives tranquility vibes! I'm happy I was invited here for my friends job picnic, it was a very good time for sure. Professional staff here soon as you arrive they tell you where to go and park. They had nice valet parking that was complementary for the event, and I was able to walk through the ranch to see all what they have to offer! They have a coffee shop, restaurant, and you can view the nice rooms as you walk through the venues. Just very beautiful and well kept up. I see why many people have weddings here because it's quite memorable, which great photos to capture. I would love to stay here but I would have to save up some coins because it's not cheap, but I see why you get what you pay for. It's very worth it! They even had the paddle boats available for us to use, and that was so much fun! This place was perfect for a picnic. I will love to come back and stay when I try the wineries in the area! I hope I get invited to someone's wedding here in the future :)

Yelp
Really fantastic wedding. We attended one in The Birchwood Room. Beautiful location for the ceremony, & absolutely gorgeous deck where we were seated. Crystals and chandeliers hung from trees, was a cold November night but there were lots or warmers all around. So many staff were around to help, replenish food, valet service..... was a pleasure to be there. Would definitely love to attend another wedding there or host one for my kids. A really well run operation, and beautiful location too.

Yelp
The Calamigos Ranch is the luxury destination in Malibu that encompasses both a private ranch as well as an exclusive beachfront beach club. The private Cottages, Bungalows and Estate Rooms are thoughtfully designed to be cozy, intimate spaces to exist sustainably within the undisturbed nature, and the cabins have been created with the rural land. There's a pond inside the ranch area and it's good for pedal boat.

Yelp
I attended a corporate event hosted at the barn at this venue. I was immediately impressed by the gorgeous grounds. The area nearby the barn was nestled in cozy beautiful trees and had a pretty man made waterfall perfect for group photos and ambient noise. The catering was excellent, both in quality and variety. All of the staff, from food service, to activity hosts were very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed the event hosted here and would gladly return again.

Yelp
I had the best birthday surprise gift from my husband, we loved Calamigos. Both my husband and sister also loved the property. It felt great taking a break from LA. We enjoyed the nature and the stunning property. The food by the pool was very delicious, I hardly ever eat a burger but their burger was amazing. During our stay some inconveniences occurred, but the way it was held by the property manager Connor I no longer even want to mention it nor get into details. Connors approach was beyond professional and his kindness towards the situation and how he solved everything was just wonderful. With this review I wanted to share how beautiful the property is but more importantly I want to take the opportunity and share my gratitude towards Connor and how attentive he was. To sum it up Calamigos is truly lucky to have you Conor. We will all return back for more visits. Until next time.

Yelp
Bella Vita Events had the honor of producing events over the last 10 years at the Calamigos Ranch. The venue has been expanding and is always trying to stay up to date, in order to provide the exceptional experiences to our clients. It is a pleasure to work there, and you have the choice in-between several rooms for your event. The Team is flexible and always willing to go the extra mile. Yelp
Super cool vibe. Spent a fun day there with the kids. The pizzas were great as well

Yelp
The timeless Pavilion, ferris wheel and twinkly lights are really popular with couples who want to get away in the Malibu mountains with so many surrounding things to do before and after the wedding. You can easily keep everything really close by for portraits and guests. Timing of the ceremony to retain the string lights will be the hour that the whole day is designed around.

Yelp
Yoooo this one of the best wedding spots ever. This the second time I been here. And now I see the there signature package because I saw similarities. Bubbles, they blown once folx say "you may kiss the bride" and the check in with instax camera. Those are hella cool. Love taking those Polaroid pictures. The space is so pretty and valet all so friendly. It's a huge space so I'm happy I was directed where to go. Feel super vip as a guest coming here I wonder if I'll be back here again for a future wedding.

Yelp
Mother of the bride here. And wedding still 6 months away but we have so appreciated the responsiveness and support of McKenzie Haisley and Brittany Fera. They have SO much experience and are sensitive to our budget, style and so easy to work with. Not to mention the exquisite venue, great food by Chef Rosie and killer Katie Cocktails!

Yelp
Calamigos Ranch is synonymous with elegant, SoCal weddings. Albeit a wedding factory, Calamigos is somehow able to make every wedding feel special, unique, and bespoke. My wife and I's wedding was no exception. From the moment we arrived on our tour, to the moment we left on our big day, most everything was spectacular and our friends and family remarked at how beautiful the venue was. Some of the venue highlights included: +A gorgeous, tree-filled woodland backdrop for the ceremony +A spectacular, twinkle-light studded reception +Attentive and courteous waitstaff +Free use of not only our ceremony location, but also the surrounding gardens and lots +Zero visibility into or cross-contamination with other weddings occurring that day However, there are a few setbacks (and warnings) that prevent me from giving Calamigos a five star review: +The sales office staff were somewhat haughty (and fussed over a small refund they owed me the day before my wedding) +A wedding planner or coordinator was an absolute must (and a month of coordinator is required by Calamigos)--you will not feel very secure navigating all the choices, paperwork, and dates without one +The parking "lot" is ample in size but has no pavement, thus guests complained that it scuffed up shoes and dresses (don't let the bride walk here!) +The signage and instructions to get to the venue are adequate at best and frustrating at worst, leaving some folks scurrying they day off

Yelp
Our recent stay at Calamigos was very disappointing. Definitely not worth the price. We stayed there with high expectations as the place came recommended. The service was consistently poor and severely delayed with staff members appearing inattentive and displaying a noticeable lack of care towards guests. It's disheartening when a basic expectation of attentiveness is not met. Moreover, the amenities in the room were shockingly under-furnished. The lack of essential items or their poor quality detracted significantly from the overall experience. It's regrettable that the hotel falls short in providing the level of comfort and service one anticipates. My stay was far from enjoyable, and I would strongly caution others considering this establishment. A notable exception was the Saloon Cafe. Ari there was awesome! Food at the Ranch Club/M Cafe was very good. But service again was sloppy.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at the ranch and loved it so much that we are signing up for a membership! The location is absolutely stunning, like a fairyland, and perfect for weddings. The accommodations were both beautiful and comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for a must-visit destination!

Yelp
We recently coordinated a wedding at Calamigos Ranch, and the venue is just gorgeous. Andrew, the site coordinator, was nice and friendly, making the planning process smooth. Maxcine, the banquet captain, was very flexible and on top of everything. All the day-of staff, from the bar to the setup team, were very nice and helpful. As wedding planners, we thoroughly enjoyed working with them and look forward to future events at Calamigos Ranch!

Yelp
Luke at the outdoor bar was so hospitable to us while my girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend. We had an amazing time, and the service was above and beyond. Especially from Luke. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
SELLING OUR CREDIT We are selling our credit for a Calamigos ranch wedding at a loss. We had our wedding scheduled for June 2020, so being the peak Covid season for obvious reasons we could not have the wedding. Calamigos refuses to refund us the money we paid but is willing to allow us to transfer the credit. If you are planning a wedding at Calamigos, please let me know so we can coordinate and transfer our credit to you at a loss to us.

Yelp
The wedding and reception for my sister, which were held at this venue in July, turned out to be a massive disappointment. Right from the beginning, the lack of air conditioning created an uncomfortably hot and stuffy atmosphere in the room where the wedding party prepared, leaving everyone sweaty and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the staff's attitude took a sudden nosedive after the final payment was made. Kate, who had been friendly during the property tour, abruptly became rude and uncooperative. Not only did we end up paying for services that were never delivered, but we also discovered significant overcharges. Looking back, I deeply regret choosing this venue for my sister's special day. My heartfelt advice to anyone considering this venue for their event: stay away and explore other options.

Yelp
Pretty cool spot with all of the amenities. They have a cool little bar near the ocean but the beach part is just okay. Spent about 300$ in drinks on one afternoon which seemed pretty pricy since it was just normal cocktails and no bubbles. The rooms were nice and the staff super friendly. The breakfast was just okay and the pool was relaxing. Definitely a very upscale place and private but I don't think I'll return unless there is a wedding or a concert there. Not my style but worth staying there one night to escape from the city.

Yelp
Wow. Wow. Wow. What an impressive place! The service was top notch as every staff member went above and beyond - from free bottles of water at the pool to a staff member bringing us large bottles of water at the pickle ball courts mid game. There is fresh juice in the lobby at all times. Breakfast at The Ranch was incredible, tho expensive. The French toast was a delicious bread pudding with berry coulis. Lunch at the pool was also great, especially the chicken wrap! Uber had a difficult time finding the ranch multiple times. Ask the valet for a specific address to put in the app. The Valet driver drove up to find our Uber driver and guide him back to pick us up. Pools were nice with very comfortable lounge chairs. Every hour the waitress walked around with a special amenity (chipwich, frozen grapes, face mist). Gym was well equipped- only missing a foam roller, but had all the cardio equipment and weights needed. Cottages were comfy with outdoor showers. Don't make the mistake of sleeping with the heat on in the cottages. It blows on your face and dries you out. Grounds were beautiful, hiking nearby and just an all around a cozy retreat. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Amazing in all aspects! Don't know where to start! Where to start with I went there because was the wedding of one of my best friends who moved to Australia last year to be with his love. I know my friend has excellent taste, so could not expect a better location for the wedding to the love of his life. Everything was SO beautiful, the venue, with so much sense of privacy, the trees, the enchanting chandeliers, the million flowers (I guess that goes apart but anyway someone from inside has to put them there in that way right? so kuddos because there were like million roses there). I liked the sense of intimate, cozyness yet formal feeling. There was valet parking and everyone working there was so professional and accomodating. This ranch is located in a very nice scenary area on the way to Malibu. Needless to say we all had a great time and what happened in Calamigos stays on Yelp:)

Yelp
The Redwood Room at Calamigos Ranch is breathtakingly beautiful! When we first came to Calamigos Ranch and saw this room, it felt like we had been transported to another world with endless possibilities and magic, and we knew we had found where we wanted to celebrate our wedding. The staff helped us navigate through the room being renovated between when we booked our reception and our actual date a year later. We know we didn't always make it easy on them as we had high expectations having both worked in the events world ourselves. Their recommended vendor list was immensely helpful and we ended up using a wedding coordinator, photographer/videographer, dessert vendor & transportation services from their recommended list and most of the rest had all worked their in the past, so they were very familiar with the venue and able to give us the best advice on how to create the event we wanted. Planning a wedding is not easy and was often quite stressful, especially as the threat of rain became very likely and we had to make last minute adjustments and still try to keep as close to our vision as possible. Thankfully from the moment we walked into the Redwood Room to start our photo session and saw how breathtaking the space already looked, there was such a huge sense of relief for me knowing my wife and I could relax and enjoy our celebration. Thank you Calamigos for giving our family, friends and especially my wife and I the most memorable night of our lives that we will cherish for the rest of our lives!

Yelp
Five stars for Kyung and her team. Kyung is not only sweet and generous with her time but thoughtful and attentive. She would periodically check in with us while we were prepping for our wedding. It can be stressful and overwhelming. Kyung was always a phone call away and sweet as can be. Besides Kyung, Cate was also extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Really happy with her team. Our wedding was perfect! Can't thank you enough!!

Yelp
So good to be back! Calamigos ranch always has a special place in my heart, and I'm thrilled to know our best friend's wedding was held at Calamigos! The weather was just perfect in late March, but note to self, if the reception is outdoors, it can be a bit chilly during the evening. Everything was so dreamy and intimate, the entire ranch is just beautiful. Calamigos is for sure one of the best venues around LA! We enjoy every visit to this magical place!

Yelp
Invited to Calamigos Ranch for a Business Family Day event. My family and I had the best time! Let me start by saying Calamigos Ranch is more of a venue. The experience comes from whoever us hosting. Our host worked worked with Calamigos Ranch planners and their vendors to make it all happen. Calamigos restaurant catered the food, BBQ style and open bar. Vendors includes: Fruit truck, cotton candy machine, ice cream, jumpers, water slides, soccer, tug o war, petting zoo, bingo, pool, horse shoes, boats, facing painting, comic drawing, tattoos, and more. The Calamigos staff from parking, walking through and during the event were very helpful! Honestly, we had the best time! I would love to host some kind of event there. Highly recommend also trying their cafe "Malibu Cafe", it is open to the public. It is a very great place to eat, hang out and have a few drinks. FOOD is delish!

Yelp
I used to LOVE going here - when there was live music music on the weekend (during brunch) - food was great, ambience was amazing - outdoor eating on a wood deck or tables on the beautiful grassy area. Oversized outdoor games- fun! And a little late where you can ride on individual paddle boats. Sadly last few times the place was like a zoo- too many loud people, even louder music blasting from speakers- too many kids running around- just not the same peaceful place I remember. But it is nice to walk around the grounds- away from the crowds.

Yelp
I recently got married here at the Redwood Room on July 6th, and it was quite literally the best day of my life! My mother and I worked with McKenzie and the rest of the event specialist team at the venue to create the wedding of our dreams! The venue itself is drop dead gorgeous, it feels like a real life fairytale. The venue handles a lot of the "bigger" ticket items which took a lot off our plate, such as the catering team, bar, chairs tables and rentals, etc.. I was a little hesitant at first to use their catering team, but the food was absolutely incredible, and all our guests thought so as well. The overall ambiance of the reception room was romantic and classic with little decor necessary, which was so important for me. We used some preferred vendors and some that we found on our own, all of whom were 10/10 in every way possible. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone considering making this decision. Please see the photos attached from our darling photographer, Kelsey Rinaldi. Thank you Calamigos team, you're the best!!!

Yelp
The owner, Garrett Gerson, reached out to me and was friendly, patient in listening to all my concerns and proactive in ensuring that all issues were attended to. Within just a few months, the rooms at Calamigos Ranch were upgraded and renovated. Since my old review was specifically pointing out the The Birchwood Room, I will focus on this room only. It looks amazing after the remodeling. They extended the bridal suite and added a bathroom. They repainted the walls, pulled out the dated carpet to implement new hardwood floors, put in new windows and upgraded all the old furniture to clean and modern pieces. It felt bigger, airy, brighter, functional and had character. I was very impressed with this upgrade. The owner also had the groomsmen suite completely renovated by replacing all the old furniture. They took down a wall to create an "open concept" space to the new bathroom. They now have a beautiful black marble vanity with beautiful light fixtures. The toilet was replaced and they removed the urinal. Thank goodness. They added new bathroom doors with sleek black handles. They redesigned the layout and upgraded to a new checkered floor and redid the walls to a wood finish that gives the groomsmen suite and bathroom personality. I am highly impressed. I wish they didn't take out the bar window and replaced it with the door. I liked the idea of easy access to the bartender. The new door is a stark white compared to the muted cream/taupe paneled walls so it doesn't match too well. However, this is minor and it might just be my taste. This doesn't take away from everything else that was done impeccably well. Thank you, Garrett, for being open to listening to the public's concerns and taking immediate action to remedy all the issues. To me, that is true professionalism and great leadership.

Yelp
Beautiful hidden treasure of a place. Came here for my aunts 70th birthday. Detours was a bit frustrating but arrived to the venue after confusion of the signage all over the place. The most helpful valet people ever! 10$ Valet and shuttle bus to different areas such as Malibu Cafe. Chandeliers in the trees, water fall back drops and cute rustic aura.... For the price to have a private party, they really put on a great service. They know how to make guests feel welcomed. Beautiful location

Yelp
Beautiful place to do SO MANY THINGS! We shot a commercial today for a popular cellphone, I signed an NDA so I can't say anything about it ‍. BUT, this HUGE Property with so many sections was stunning. I can only imagine at night when everything is lit up. They have small chandeliers throughout the trees, so lovely.

Yelp
The copious unpleasant smells! So much smoke in the air from the lobby fireplace our hair and clothes reek of smoke ALL the time. The lobby also CRANKS out perfume -and the smell is super strong and offensive because of the amount. It's insane . The main restaurant smells moldy and dank, the beach club bar smells like toilet cleaning products and whiffs of sewer wafted up while dining at the outdoor patio next to the lake.

Yelp
y'all already know, Claire back at it with another awesome review! hahah, all jokes aside, this review is SOLEY for my experience after becoming a member here at the ranch. (If you'd like to see my review about my wedding here, it's on the knot, and if you'd like to see my review about the resort staff, it's on tripadvisor lol). Because Wesley and I had SUCH a great memorable time here at the ranch during our wedding. The entire employee team down to the minor gritty details, we CANNOT and COULD NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT CALAMIGOS WAS, so when Kyung and Conner mentioned about the membership program, we just HAD to dip our toes in and did some further investigation. Applied for the membership and did our interview with the awesome Garner and Kristy and we did a walking tour the following week. OF COURSE WE LOVED IT AND SIGNED UP! I've come across a lot of negative comments and saying how it shouldn't be kept private, and how everyone here is just rich and stuck up. YOU CANNOT SAY THOSE THINGS IF YOU HAVE NEVER INTERACTED WITH ONE OF US! We for one just love the whole vibe here and we love the amenity a member can receive, and for those that still wants to come here and enjoy the property you totally still can! Just book a room! Yes, yes y'all are going to say but it's so expensive! But you pay what you get! the privacy, the luxury, the cleanliness, the friendly service, I HAVE NO COMPLAINT! Now let's dive deep into their private member service team. We always hangout at the Great Room because all the fun toys are here for baby Ava. There's a pool table, shuffle board, and foosball table. Dylan was the first membership liaison we met. Big smile, greeted us right away. We didn't have our photos or membership number yet at the time, but the process was seamless. Dylan showed us around and we had a very nice chat. Cool, now we know one person, ha! We usually always come on Sundays so we saw Dylan quite often! We got to know him better and I am serious when I say this, it's like hanging out with my little brother! He has the most respect and always a great attitude. Then, we met Eric, who's energetic, funny and full of energy! Seriously, everyone runs here! Eric is constantly running and getting stuff for members, whenever I ask him for something, he literally darts out the door and gets it done. I swear I literally just come here to have a great time with the employees hahaha. Both dudes, great worker, with great work ethic, can't complain. Then there's Sofia. I LOVE SOFIA, not because girls bond and click well, hahah but also because that. She's very sophisticated and intelligent. Well they all are haha. (Trying to write something different for each person). I always have a great time with Sofia whenever she's working. Everyone is always busy, trying to keep the members content and happy. Now there's Blake, I first remembered Blake from seeing her by the pool taking marketing photos during valentine's day. When I officially met her was when the kids club opened up and she instantly welcomed us with open arms. Even though our daughter Ava is still young, she was still willing to take Ava in her care. Blake does a fantastic job at watching Ava! Alright, now I gotta loop back to Valeria one more time. We hired Miss Valeria to baby sit Ava for one night when we had my birthday dinner at Nobu, Oh Honorary mention for Kurt!!! Got me the best reservation EVER!!!!! Kurt is literally the SHIIII******* hahhahah. Valeria and Ava had the best times! She even gave Ava a bath!! We came back to a knocked out Ava and all of Ava's clothes folded and nicely put away. Like Girl what can't you do! haha There is also Leila, and Jackie who I also love that works at the pool. Even though there's a members pool, but I still love staying at the main pool, because all of my peeps are here. We've been members here for a little over 2 months now, now these are literally my second family members. They have watched Miss Ava crawling everywhere to now walking and running. Ava gets sooooo excited everytime she comes to her happy place and seeing all her people it's such a joy to us and we cannot wait to watch Ava and our family member grow with calamigos!

Yelp
I won't write about how wonderful and magical and serene calamigos ranch was. All I want to express is hands down best of the best customer service/concierge. The Best. Thank you for the best time!

Yelp
Looks great for an event but not set up for a couples spa day. My wife and I decided to come here for our anniversary and have a full spa day. We were very disappointed because they don't seem to be set up for couples and their facilities were in need of repair. For example, the pool was cold..in fact all but one pool are not even heated. So the one pool that was supposed to be ...was not so that was a bummer since we couldn't use the pool. So we tried the hot tub. Only one side was working and broken caulk was laying around the spa. Uggg.... Our day was slowly going down hill quickly. We were told we could have lunch at the pool only to find out that they were incorrect and we had to walk across the property to another pool where they served lunch in our bathing suits. The staff was very young and really needed training. when they put our food down after waiting 35 minutes for it....I asked what all the little condiments were and the server did not know. I ordered a double margarita and they charged me for two complete margaritas! Oh, and this is one of those places that 20% is included on everything and they were sure to let you know that an additional tip would be appreciated. The burger was great. The steak on a stick app was overly complicated with a bunch of side condiments that weren't required. I don't know what is going on with chefs these days but they are trying to be overly creative and the sauces and little extra fancy touches are drowning out the taste of a good piece of meat or veg. So.... poor service, overly complicated food, and poor facilities. See, this is why the events are getting such great revues...because they don't have the same experience since they wouldn't use the pool, spa, or lunch place. Now the massages were over the top. Very very good. In closing, we saw a young man walking around the pool and inquired about why it wasn't heated. He introduced himself as the General Manager. We told him about our experience and handed us his card and said we should let him know next time we are going to be back. Really? Why? We won't be back. He had the chance to make things right, right then and there but lacked the experience to think of such a thing. So after spending a good $700 for the day...they get 2 stars due to service, quality of facilities, quality of food and not being able to anticipate a guests needs.

Yelp
FYI this is a Guest perspective: Came here for a wedding on a Friday. Driving from Corona took us a over 2 hours but we made it on time with our Waze GPS. Once you exit the fwy, you'll be driving through windy roads, up and down hills, and through 2 tunnels. Very scenic. When you arrive at the actual ranch, there is an attendant out front (the guy who greeted us must have been really tired...or high?). The attendant directed us to the venue we needed to be at. The road to the venue is gravel and kinda narrow so proceed with caution and pay attention to signs. We were directed to the Oak room which was all the way at the end of the road. You could also find the Malibu Cafe here. There was parking available and Valet as well. The venue for the wedding ceremony was elegant. On your walk up, you'll see chandeliers hanging from branches of old oak trees while listening to the sound of running water. It was intimate. Outside of the Oak Room was a patio where the ceremony was held. The backdrop for the ceremony was a waterfall that was perfectly framed for any photo. The water was loud but the venue was able to tone it down just before the ceremony. At first, I had the sun in my eyes but it was fine when the ceremony started. And it was an amazing ceremony. After the wedding party marched out of the ceremony, Guests were directed indoors. It's your typical indoor setting: tables , dance floor, bar. There's also some couches to relax from a night of dancing. The restrooms could be a little cleaner - was already barf splatter! Also the door to the stall was not locking - or maybe I was doing something wrong . The windows over the dining area were draped with white curtains and lighting which added to the intimate setting. I thought was a nice place to have a wedding for smaller parties. When the sun sets, the scenery even gets more intimate. Exiting the ranch was a little bit of an adventure. It was super dark. The high beams had to be turned on. Make sure everyone drives safely through the ranch. What was nice about this wedding was most of the Guests stayed at the same hotel and were shuttled in.

Yelp
Came here for a wedding tour and it was wonderful! Shayne was very flexible, friendly and knowledgeable of the property. The property is HUGE! There is a hotel, restaurant, 5 different spaces for weddings, a huge fountain and pond and so much more! The rooms for weddings are unique in their own way! Almsot every room requires the reception to be indoors which is something we didn't prefer but started to consider it because the indoor spaces are beautiful!! A con about this venue is there will most likely be 2-3 other weddings going on at the property at the same time. However, their wedding options are great and prices are fair. The drive in is beautiful with the string lights and chandeliers. There is a sign to conduct you where to go at the fork in the road. The sign could be nicer to match the vibes of the property. I would love to attend a wedding here, but we ended up going with another venue. But, it was a difficult decision. We looked into the hotel rates and they were almost $1,000 a night which is a little high.

Yelp
Beautiful wedding venue. Worst dining experience Ive ever had, and I worked in hospitality for 20 years. If management wants to contact me, I'd LOVE to go into detail.

Yelp
Had a company Christmas party here earlier this month. This place is beautiful and the catering staff were all respectful. I would definitely hold an event here.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds!!! The 2 star ratings is only because you can't eat there unless you are a hotel guest! We went to what used to be called the Malibu Cafe and and were told you can only eat there if you are a hotel guest. We were so sad! It's a beautiful beautiful place. Wish that was more clear on their yelp account or website that we couldn't eat or drink there!

Yelp
So, I will happily say that this place is beautiful and exactly what I wanted in a wedding venue, but there were quite a lot of things that happened during our site tour that made us realize this was so not the place for us. 1. Perhaps she thought that the venue would sell itself, but Shayne, who gave us our tour has such a lack of enthusiasm, that it seemed like she would rather be anywhere else except showing my fiancé and me around. She almost seemed bored by the whole thing. This place is already pricey, so for us to spend that kind of money for a 1 day event, we want to enjoy the person we are working with, not feel like a burden, or that we are boring her, have her accompany us to all the locations that we ask about (yes, even if we want a look at the bridal suite), and also to show a little excitement at the very least for us and our journey. To me, this is basic customer service and salesmanship. She acted like she would be doing us a favor by us booking a minimum $60k wedding there, and that turned us off completely. 2. The venue, as I mentioned before, is pricey as hell, and it seems like they upcharge you for every stupid little thing. I know, I know, this is a common occurrence in the wedding world, but as we discussed it and wanted just basic stuff added here and there, it was already up to $60k and that's without the dress, flowers, photographer, etc. this is just venue stuff and catering stuff I'm talking about here. 3. For that amount of money, you're still going to be sharing the property and the day with 3 other people's weddings. That doesn't seem like a deal to me. 4. They REQUIRE a valet. An additional charge btw. And when we asked how people would know which valet to go to if there are other weddings happening, they said that the valet would just park it and they would sort it out. Basically, a beautiful location, but lots of downsides. There were more things we didn't like, but these were the main issues. For us, it wasn't worth it.

Yelp
Went to a special event in April and saw a very sad couple of cows languishing in their own filth, covered in flies. I spoke to the staff and asked about their situation and they let me know sheepishly that their lives were very sad and that they very seldom get out. I do not understand why they would have such an appalling site in the middle of a resort like this. It makes no sense. They deserve a much better life than this and especially amid all this luxury. Absolutely terrible. Will never return.

Yelp
We absolutely love Calamigos! They treat us and our pup with the highest hospitality. We always feel like VIPs here and part of that is in thanks to Amanda at the pool. She always remembers us and truly takes the best possible care of us while we're there: we absolutely love Amanda and she only adds to the amazing Calamigos experience. 10/10 highly recommend
