Best Restaurants in Bucks County, Pennsylvania | Eater Philly

"The build-your-own burger and noodle bowl nights are popular draws at Caleb’s American Kitchen in Lahaska (Tuesday and Wednesday respectively). But the rest of the menu is still worth checking out. Satiate seafood cravings with honey-miso-glazed salmon with sticky rice or crab cakes. If weekend brunch is more of your thing, the eggs Benedict and potato-crusted frittata will keep you coming back every week." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
I pass it on my way to work a couple times a month, and finally went with my sister to try it out. The place was simple, bright and clean. Staff and service were nice and attentive. Recommend making reservations in advance tho. I parked across the street since we were going to walk the shops afterwards. I wanted to try the frittata, but they were out. So I ordered pancakes with side of bacon and potatoes. Pancakes were so good by itself -could eat it without syrup! My sister had the eggs, bacon, and cheese grits. She liked everything but the grits. I would come back to try the frittata and/or lunch soon. It was a great start to a fun fall day in Peddler’s Vilage.

Google
The food is fantastic, and the service is outstanding, all set in a refined yet casual dining atmosphere. The beef medallion was spectacular, and the cheese plate was beautifully presented. For dessert, the fruit crumble and salted caramel blondie were perfect. This is a fun place for a family dinner or a large gathering, and it's BYOB! I highly recommend it!

Google
Everything was a positive experience from the moment we got there until we left. Food was nice portions for price and service was spot on. Thank you for an enjoyable morning out to breakfast!

Google
Not every restaurant can be perfect every time, but they can all follow Caleb‘s lead and make it right no matter what. And the homemade Challah crème brûlée French Toast with strawberries was delicious, and so was the bacon and even the coffee. But besides the high-quality food, your people are your best asset!

Bergj M.

Google
Breakfast food was pretty good! Eggs were tender and fluffy! Pancake was warm and tasty. The only thing I didn’t like was the chicken sausage. Service was excellent! Janell is lovely! I would go back for their lunch or dinner service.

Google
First time adventuring to Peddlers Village, and stopping at Caleb’s on the way. A great pit stop before heading into the village for shopping. Our waitress Mary was great, providing suggestions, which made the experience better. Would definitely recommend and cannot wait to go back.

Google
It was a near perfect brunch experience for us. Quality ingredients paired with quality service makes it an obvious choice when in the area. The place serves good burgers, but their beef blend is on a lean side. A medium, pink in the middle, will feel drier than your typical 80/20. The Benedicts are also very good, with crispy, but a bit underseasoned, home fries. Overall, highly recommended.

Joshua P.

Google
I was literally blown away how good the food was. Got the recommended pear and candied almonds crème brûlée French toast and I’m not usually one for nuts but man was it good. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, all seasoned and cooked amazingly. Really good coffee menu.

Steve B.

Yelp
Food excellent and generous portions. Creative menu. Attentive servers made sure all was well

Yelp
Best pastrami Reuben , and the server was excellent . Look forward to visiting again. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Yelp
This Casual yet elegant breakfast & lunch spot is located in Lahaska, Pa, about a 10 minute drive from New Hope. Fresh, innovative food is the rule here. Service is professional and friendly. This is one of our fav spots!!! Try one of their pop-up dinners too!

Yelp
Caleb's is a cozy but modern place near Peddler's Village. Our server Marie was great- friendly, welcoming and attentive for our party of 7. Brunch was delicious- we tried the cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches and a few different Benedicts. Highly recommend anything that comes with those roasted rosemary potatoes (and I am not usually a potato fan).

Yelp
Tuesday burger day. I came at 6 and they were out of beyond burger. No worries! So I enjoyed the next best thing Beet salad! It had yellow and red beets, and it was flavorful and delicious. Some greens and crumbles blue cheese.

Yelp
Great food always fresh! Every time I go there, I want to ask for the recipe for whatever I get. The service is wonderful and they make you feel special. The restaurant is comfortable and feels like home.

Yelp
Such a nice surprise with a very unique menu and everything was delicious. Sorry no pictures, we ate it all. We didn't have reservations but the staff was very accommodating to fit us in. Our waitress, Mary, was very good and genuinely friendly. We will be back.

Yelp
I unfortunately didn't get any pictures, but everything we ate at this restaurant was amazing! I got the special, which was lemon zest ricotta pancakes topped with a special buttercream, and a side of bacon. They were so light and fluffy and perfect! My dining companions also loved their meals. One got the eggs Benedict with smoked cauliflower and spinach, along with a side of the cheddar grits with caramelized onions. The grits were so amazing that I even dream of them, and I normally don't care for grits. My other dining companion got an omelette with the house made chicken & apple sausage, and that was also quite tasty. We all shared bites of each other's food because everything was so tasty! Our server was very kind, and we were sat quickly even though we didn't have reservations. Their outside patio was perfect, especially in the sunny spring morning. One note: the parking lot on the front side is very small, but if you drive around to the back of the restaurant, there is more ample parking.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Been coming for years. Our go to for great, clean, fresh food. Not a tourist trap. Shhhh, don't tell anyone ....it is that good xox

Yelp
Came here with my family recently and enjoyed my lunch. There was a small parking lot right next to the restaurant and we luckily grabbed a spot. We were seated immediately and I ended up ordering the Crabby Lizzy (a crabcake sandwich) with some OJ to drink. The OJ was freshly squeezed and tasted like it - it was delicious! Honestly, the service was a tiny bit slow, as it took a bit longer than I expected for the food to arrive. That being said, my entree was pretty tasty! Maybe not the absolute best crabcake sandwich I've ever had, but it wasn't bad at all. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area and wasn't in a hurry.

Yelp
We came here for dinner during an annual trip with our Book Group on a very very busy evening during the holiday, season. One of the group members had made a reservation, thinking she made a 5:30 reservation for dinner, but she mistakenly made a brunch reservation (long story). She somehow realized her mistake shortly before dinner (she ended up not being able to join us, so she was navigating this via phone from a distance) Despite the fact that we now did not Have a reservation, Caleb's graciously offered us a table when they opened at 5 PM and allowed us 70 minutes to eat as the table was booked at 6:15. We were worried we would be too rushed, but in the end, we had an AMAZING dinner. The staff was professional and this night they seamlessly managed to make 70 minutes feel more like an hour and a half. I know they were under the wire and we pushed them to the limit, but we had a really great evening and owe them a heap of thanks for saving the night. Oh .. and everything we ordered , from appetizers to dessert, was perfect!

Yelp
The food was extra good tonight. The wild salmon had a really good soy based sauce. So good. The burgers are good too.

Pati F.

Yelp
Loved it. Quite a nice surprise. And the staff is all very nice and attentive. Very busy but service was went fast and smoothly

Rosa L.

Yelp
Food was great. Service, horrible and even hostile. Short story hostess was downright rude and the waitress actually verbally abusive. Long story. It was a busy Sunday morning and our party of two was informed that because we didn't have a reservation, we would have a half hour wait. I told the hostess this was our first time there and I didn't know that a reservation was preferred. I asked why such a long wait when there were so many empty tables. She said she had 335 reservations so those took priority. She then said unless you want to sit at the counter or outside. I said no thank you and we chose to wait the 30 minutes. We get the text that our table was ready. Same not so nice hostess takes us to a table outside. I asked if we could sit inside and she said no, that was an additional hour wait. I said fine, we'll sit outside. So we sit and we get swarmed by one bee, then another. And then another. I again ask the hostess if she could move us inside on account of the bees. She said no. So having been stung by bees recently, I'm a little nervous because it's incredibly painful. When the waitress finally comes to take our order, I asked her if these bees had been circling all morning and she confirmed that they had. I asked if anyone had been stung. See said no-that no one had been stung and everyone had eaten their meal and been very happy. So, I said, okay, we'll take our chances, and we placed our order. Fast forward a few minutes. Another couple gets seated at the table next to us. The female patron starts swatting at the bees with her menu. I said to my partner, "see it's not just us". Then a pair or young ladies gets seated at another table two down from us. The bees make a beeline for them. One girl is very nervous and jumps out of her seat. Then the bee gets into the other girl's hair and she jumps up. Bees leave for a minute, and the girls start to look over the menu. I said to them, it's not just you guy-we got the bee treatment and so did the table next to us. Waitress overhears me and then starts here verbal attack. She's not even at my table, she was at the table with the two girls and turns to me and starts giving me a verbal lecture about bees and that there was nothing they could do, and you are sitting outside after all, and we can't stray because there is food and on and one she went and yada, yada, yada. I said, I don't need a lecture from you today. She still goes on and on. I didn't engage, but I didn't back down either. She said you know you are free to leave, and I said no thank you I waited a half hour to be seated so I think I'll stay. At this point the two girls get up to leave and tell the waitress she was out of line and very rude. I apologized to the girls, they weren't upset with me, but with the waitress. The couple next to us also got an apology from me, but they also said it wasn't me it was the waitress. The gentleman even said that the customer is always right and that I had done nothing to apologize for. Morale of my long story, don't eat here unless you don't mind getting verbal abuse from the waitress and looked down on by the hostess because you didn't have a reservation. Won't be going back, no matter how good the food might have been.

Yelp
When I found out this place was run by the same guy who use to run Marsha Brown's I was very curious. The restaurant and location are fairly unassuming. That said, it's a very solid BYO. The menu has a nice variety and everything we had was enjoyable. No complaints. While I don't think I'd rush to go back, it will definitely be one of those places we visit again when we're looking for a reservation in a pinch.

Yelp
Ordered the Shrimp and scallop risotto. The whole dish was oversalted and the shrimp were not cooked all the way through. The lobster roll pastry was too thin and did not give the traditional Crunch that I would expect from this establishment. Very sub-par for this restaurant.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Had the butternut squash soup (it's not like any you've tried before!) and was earthy and a bit spicy and the vegetables were cooked long and down to deliciousness. I licked the bowl. For the main meal I had the bacon and cheddar burger, cooked medium rare. It was perfectly cooked. The bacon was cut up and every bite was delicious and savory and sweet. Chips on the side also had a perfect blend of seasoning and were crispy and fresh. Great atmosphere. Big windows show the heart of Peddler's Village. Everyone I went with enjoyed their meals served by a very attentive server. It's a great place to come and I'm never disappointed.

Deborah H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a restaurant that delivers the best in Central Bucks, you have to put Caleb's Kitchen in Lahaska on the top of your list! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've only ever gone for dinner and have never been disappointed. There's a taste for everyone's palette. And, get this, if you want a tweek to what's offered due to your needs, they are happy to comply. It's BYOB so you know the passion is put into the food. Jennifer will take you to your table, Emily might be your wonderful waitress; all are friendly and solititous. I love their Vegan offerings AND there's so much more. Don't miss it!
google avatar

Anthony A.

Yelp
I Have been to Caleb's several times over the years but it appears their attention to detail has gone away. I ordered an eggs Benedict and the potatoes were literally burnt, not well done. I ate the eggs and could not eat the burnt potatoes. How does the cook allow this and how does the waitress serve such a plate. Terrible
google avatar

Jason And Cindy Z.

Yelp
Made a reservation and seated right away. Tiny table for 2 on a ledge, was interesting...hubby soup had to be sent back bc it was cold, my beet salad yum! Dinners were mid and we brought our own wine. Service was good but seemed a bit overwhelmed with crowd. Cool place just sat in a weird spot

Pammie P.

Yelp
Service here is hit or miss. Our reservation couldn't be found at first, then suddenly it was. Yet the restaurant was practically empty that afternoon. The food is very good, though. I had a chickpea salad with chicken. It was very fresh and tasty. My partner had the burger, and it was delicious, too. We were kind of astounded that we weren't offered coffee or dessert at around 2:20, after we'd eaten. It's not like there weren't still people eating their meal at another table. Their website states lunch is until 2:30, but we felt rushed, even though our reservation was for 1 pm - the place was not full and we could have been asked if we wanted anything else. We ended up just going to Peddler's Village for ice cream instead.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
Soooo...I had to make sure that our first visit to Caleb's wasn't a fluke. Nine of us ventured back to try their dinner menu. Hostess...on point. Server...on point. Selection of dinners...on point. Apps...on point. Service...on point. Make sure to put Caleb's on your list of "must dine." You won't go home hungry or disappointed.

Katie L.

Yelp
So many gluten free options. I had the the fruit punch Fritz cocktail and a gluten free BLT
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
Bring your own wine and enjoy an amazing dinner. The salmon was fantastic and prepared perfectly. The atmosphere is quaint and I found it peaceful on a rainy evening. The ice cream cookie was good too! I'll be back!

Martin K.

Yelp
I've been to Caleb's several times. I usually go on Saturday or Tuesday for breakfast. I wouldn't go on a Saturday again. Too crowded, too noisy it took longer than a Tuesday getting your food. My breakfast was over cooked, and the server was very noisy. Tuesday's are Okay.

Linda C.

Yelp
We love Caleb's in general but tonight we went to a special Tapas dinner they were offering. It was superb. There were 8 very generous courses. James, our waiter, paced the evening perfectly. Each course from the Arancini Balls to the Carrot Cake Trifle was delicious and beautifully presented. The shrimp toast with seaweed salad was my favorite. The $68pp price was a bargain. Hope Caleb tries other special dinners. Great job.

Yelp
Friendly, attentive service. Food is fresh and delicious. Nice views and ambiance. Glad we found this place.

Yelp
We stopped in for breakfast. The restaurant is clean and very open. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Mary came right over and introduced herself. Coffee and tea came right away. My husband enjoyed the blueberry pancakes and bacon. I had the strawberry french toast special. Everything was delicious and our server Mary was very sweet. Will be definitely be back!
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
For a place that is fairly open, the noise level, at least in the main room, is surprisingly loud - not overwhelming but right up there. Service was fast and efficient. There were 6 of us and everyone commented not only on how much they enjoyed their choices but also on the large size of each sandwich. This ranged from Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese to Avocado BLTs to Shrimp Tacos as well as a giant House-cured Pastrami Reuben. They all came with in-house made potato chips or Fries. With sodas or Iced Tea, before tip, the bill came to around $36 per couple. Well worth a return visit.
google avatar

Sherri S.

Yelp
Very pretty restaurant. Dinner for four. Gotta love a BYOB restaurant! (Don't forget your bottle). Tables were nicely spaced. We could actually hold a conversation as it was not loud like so many restaurants these days. I appreciated that. Every table was occupied too. Our service was right on with just the right amount of friendly. The owner or boss came to our table...very nice touch. Restaurants always run better when the boss is around. The menu is not extensive but there is something for everyone. They seem to use a lot of mushrooms which is the one food I dislike. I would have chosen a few things but the mushrooms stopped me. I ended up with the crab cakes. I use to get the very best crab cakes in Maryland, of course, therefore I hardly ever order crab cakes in my local area but the side of brussel sprout slaw and squash hash pushed this as the front runner over the salmon. Sure enough the crab cakes were exactly what I expected...good but not a wow. I would opt for the salmon next time. The crab cakes were served with a mustard dipping sauce. It was a bit over powering and ended up not using the sauce. Complimentary bread and oil placed on the table. I origionally asked about adding salmon to one of the salads as my dinner choice but it was not a menu choice and they seem to not alter menu choices. I was told they don't do that. Not a big deal. Good for me to switch it up and try something different. Overall, we had a lovely dinner, we all enjoyed our choices, we were not rushed and I thoroughly enjoy supporting local restaurants. They have their act together.

Caryn F.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. TINY portion and RANCID! My husband met a bunch of friends for lunch, and at the end ordered a salad to take home for me. He paid an extra $6.00 to replace the chicken in the salad with salmon. He asked them to wrap the salmon separately so it wouldn't wilt the salad on the way home. (He said the waitress gave him an attitude, but whatever). When I opened the salad to eat, the salmon portion consisted of two 2 inch by 1 inch, pieces of salmon. That's it! for an extra 6 bucks! Then I took one bite, and the fish had GONE BAD! DISGUSTING! And what a RIPOFF! I wish I could give negative stars. This is totally unacceptable.

Yelp
We were in peddlers village last weekend and went to Caleb's as Yelp had good reviews. Perfect choice. Nice clean restaurant w friendly staff right outside peddlers village. We had smoked cauliflower scramble, El Paso Huevos rancheros, coconut butternut squash soup, avocado toast , 2 eggs scrambled and NOLA banana foster French toast. All the food was yummy n generous portions. Not a morsel left. Mmm Loved the cauliflower scramble. You won't go wrong stopping at Caleb's for a meal. Thanks Caleb's for a great sunday brunch

Yelp
The food is amazing the service is wonderful and the restaurant is a sweet space comfortable and well maintained. One of my favorite places.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service! Lobster pot pie and mushroom ravioli with short rib! So good!

Yelp
The staff isn't comfortable serving people with disabilities. We were kicked out and I can't believe it. Reply- you need to check with your staff then about 3 days ago since your actions speak louder than your words
google avatar

Yelp
Went there for lunch last Friday on our way to Lambertville for Xmas shopping. Place was jumping and they didn't have our reservation. They got us seated pretty quickly though. Husband got the burger and I had the Reuben with house cured pastrami. My Reuben was delicious and hubs said the hamburger was also very good. We did keep looking at other diners' selections as we plan on coming back. Lol we were the only diners having wine with our lunch. BYOB

Dan M.

Yelp
This was a small location with a farm to table aspect to it. The décor of the spot highlighted that aspect with rural walls and a 'farm' feel to it. The service was appreciated while the food came out quickly. The menu also had a number of appealing options with fresh ingredients. They started the meal off with a hefty basket of hot bread with oil and herbs. The oil could have used a little more salt, but the bread was excellent. The inside was soft while the outside had a slight crunch. For an appetizer, the braised short ribs grilled cheese ($9) and Maui ahi tuna poke ($9) was ordered. The short ribs grilled cheese consisted of pickled red onion and an aged cheddar. The small pieces of the grilled cheese were very dry. The short rib meat was okay, just not as flavorful as I would imagine coming from this cut of meat. The pickled red onion was a nice touch. The tuna consisted of raw Hawaiian marinated tuna, ginger, macadamia nuts, nori, and crispy lotus root. This was very disappointing. The tuna had no flavor at all, very plain. There was a substantial amount of tuna present, however. For an entrée, the crispy confit duck leg ($30) was ordered. It consisted of wild boar sausage, roasted fingerling potato, seasonal sautéed vegetables, shaved parsnips with a fig and clove reduction. The duck was nicely cooked with plenty of flavor. I was not the biggest fan of the boar sausage, but the vegetables as a whole were cooked appropriately. The fig and clove reduction was also a little too sweet. Overall, it was an average dish. I also tried the pork chop, which was very large and cooked to a perfect medium temperature. For dessert, grams icebox cake ($10) was split. It consisted of dark chocolate pudding, burnt sugar butterscotch pudding with cookie crumbs and topped with a decadent meringue. This was probably my favorite dish of the night. The combination of both puddings was outstanding along with the meringue and cookie crumbs. It was a satisfying finish to a decent meal. Will I go back? Debatable.

Amy H.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this place from my friends but for some reason I had never been. So I came in a couple weeks ago for Sunday brunch with my husband... it was Delish! We split the bacon, corn and scallion pancakes are they were amazing. Our server, Stella, kept my iced tea full the entire time. He also had the french toast and it was so good. Will definitely be coming back to try out the dinner menu.
google avatar

Mohammad m.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Also, kid-friendly. We loved the Scallop risotto and the beef medallions. Note that the restaurant is BYOB.
google avatar

S R.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast food. Everything was delicious, especially the bacon, fresh fruit, and quiche. We did get there when they first opened and it took awhile before the waiter came to get the beverages and take our order. That was our only gripe. We will definitely come back on our next venture to PA!
google avatar

Yelp
My friend and I had a great experience at Caleb's. I usually visit for lunch, but this time we went for dinner. The food was delicious as always and the service excellent. Unfortunately ambiance was impacted by the very large group event in the back half of the restaurant. Still a great experience, but next time I might enquire about any large group bookings, particularly at this time of year.

Brian D.

Yelp
receptionist /manager very rude. We arrived at 5 when it opened , we had a reservation and she tried to seat us next to the entrance . we asked for another table and were given a good dose of attitude and were told if we sat at another table we had to be done eating in one hour. WTF?... Also her stand was in the middle of the front of the restaurant , really bad placement , which more or less makes it a runway into the seating area making it rough for those sitting at the tables. That said the burgers were good and Caleb was very nice in making his rounds to all the tables.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Phenomenal food and the location was perfect on our trip from Rhode Island. We will definitely recommend Caleb's to our PA friends.

Scott G.

Yelp
Really pleasant. No wine or beer but turkey club was worth it and the avocado toast ditto
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I went with two of my friends and their families, and I chose Caleb's because they take reservations for Sunday brunch and the great reviews. It's a small place with a small parking lot in the front and another in the back. We made a reservation for a party of 9 at 9:15AM, and were seated promptly. I ordered the All-American, and upgraded my pancakes to blueberry for an additional dollar, and everything was good! The real winner was the home fries that I got as a to-go side after trying one of my friend's, they tasted like fresh-cut potatoes and were so crispy.
google avatar

Louisa T.

Yelp
Stopped here for a late breakfast. Great menu and choices. The restaurant sports a clean and modern decor. Excellent service and food. The wild boar and brown rice scramble was a delicious special.

Madelynn S.

Yelp
Didn't arrive to this restaurant until 12:30 and waited 15 minutes for a table. But it wasn't until we looked at the menu that we realized that they only serve breakfast until noon, so we decided to leave. Very confusing as to why a restaurant to stop serving breakfast at noon on a Saturday

Marion S.

Yelp
This very unassuming place serves delicious and interesting dishes by a friendly staff. There is nothing better then starting off with a basket of crusty warm bread. Wish I lived closer, I would definitely be a repeat customer.
