"Calexico, a restaurant with California-Mexican influences, opened its doors in downtown’s One Campus Martius building in 2016. The restaurant has now closed, and it is set to be replaced by an Italian and Mediterranean-style eatery later this year, launched by Chicago-based chef and restaurant group Fabio Viviani. Details about the new establishment, including its name, menu, and opening date, have not yet been disclosed." - Serena Maria Daniels

Was very pleased with our whole experience today. We were greeted and then seated right away. Was asked it we preferred inside or out. Our servicer came to the table right away. My Margarita was good but enjoyed m y friends pina colada much more. We got chips and salsa to start off with and guacamole also. Wow was that fresh. And it had texture. Not smooth like paste. Real chunks of avocado. We were all three happy with our meals. Nice big portions. All around great dinner.

Our waitress was very lovely but the service was quite slow. Food was good but not great, Mexican corn is a must. The wet burrito, shrimp and chicken tacos, and beans and rice were all a bit underwhelming. Needed more spices and less salt. Basil lemonade was very nice.

Food was good. Nothing amazing here. It was definitely fulfilling. A little bit pricey ($2 cheaper off entrees needed) for what you're getting but not ridiculous. I would eat there again. Decent lunch if you can't figure out what to eat. Staff was ok, bothered me that we couldn't move our seats because servers had sections they were wo. Just a bit weird imo. No major issues. Place was clean. The place is ight. Hopefully that makes it easy to understand.

Definitely recommend the carne asada loaded fries and the fried chicken taco is very good. I went with the carne asada wet burrito which as huge portion. Great for hungry eaters. The meat in the burrito was a little well done but still tasty. Try the real cane sugar cokes! Manager was friendly. The waitress was kind but slow to get drink or food orders. If service was faster, I would have rated the experience higher. Overall: A good spot for lunch or a quick dinner in Detroit. However, it's not a must-go-to destination like any of the restaurants in Mexican Town!

This place is really pretty and has nice decor. You have two options for Dining; indoor or outdoor. We decided to Sit indoor. The decor and the Atmosphere is amazing. We decided to order a variety of things. The presentation of the food looked tasty but it had no flavour. I felt like I was eating nothing. I don’t want to give this place a bad review because my tastebuds are different than everyone’s but I’ve been to numerous Mexican/Hispanic restaurants and this is not a place to go if you want authentic Mexican/Hispanic food.

I had bad expectations because of the low rating but was surprized with the good taste of the food. There is huge room for improvement. Mint was very old and nasty (see photos). Servive was great.

It's really a 3.5 (star rating). The place is pretty and spacious. The food on the other hand was just ok. The waitress seemed to be a bit overbooked with tables but she handled herself beautifully (thanks Tara). The jalapeño poppers were very good and spicy. The mint lemonade was good you could taste the mint. The enchilada was ok you could barely taste any chicken and I think they fogot the bacon all together. The shrimp taco was delicious, very flavorful, but the shrimp burrito was on the dry side the chips on the side was looking kinda old (I didn't eat them). It's a ok place to grab a bite but nothing to really mention to wanna go a second time on purpose.

Great food, great customer service, and wonderful vegetarian options. I had the veggie enchilada and my wife had the Mushroom quesadilla. We enjoyed them both. The guacamole, green and red salsas were delicious.
