As you're pulling up to the parking lot, you'll notice that this restaurant has the tropical ambience down packed. There are palm trees everywhere and colorful decor playfully scattered around. The building itself is brightly colored and unlike the others in the area. You know the inside will be fun, but once you walk in, it's like nothing you could've anticipated. There's high ceilings, tables everywhere, a fountain in the middle, and lots and lots of decorations. It feels like you're in a lively plaza at night that's buzzing with people and music.
You place your orders at the counter, and they'll bring your food to you. My friend and I showed up around 6 PM on a Sunday, and the line to order took about 15 minutes. As we ate, the line got longer, so I'd recommend getting there early.
We got steak cubanos, chips & queso, and a frozen watermelon margarita. The steak cubano was delicious. The bread is soft and a little crispier on the outside, and the sauce brings everything together. You can ask for extra jalapeños if you're looking for more spice. The queso was runnier than I'm used to, but the flavor was great. It also came with a small cup of salsa. The margarita was tasty and not overly sweet. I want to try the guava one next time.
Even though I was pretty hungry, and the cubano was so good, eating half of it made me full, and I ended up taking the other half to-go. It's a pretty hefty sandwich for only ~$7!
I'd highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Though the cubano is a must-have, the rest of the menu has a lot to offer too. Plus, it's not everyday that you get transported to a completely different place while you're eating.
