California Cookout Catering

We hired California Cookout for our wedding, and the food was SO GOOD. I want to have another event just to eat the food again. Nathan was so great about talking through our options for allergies and dietary restrictions. The serving team on the day of was so fast and efficient and there was plenty of food for seconds. Some of the most popular items were the Santa Barbara salad, penne alfredo, tri tip, balsamic and mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had berry and peach cobbler with ice cream. Both were great- I especially liked the berry!

My experience with Nathan and California Cookout was excellent. They catered my wedding in June and they did an exceptional job. The food was fresh, delicious, and we received compliments from our guests through the night on how good the food was. I guess people are used to stale, generic wedding food but Cali Cookout delivered the goods! I will attach pics to my review. Check them out. We got mesquite grilled chicken along with the tri tip. And the desserts! All so good!!

10/10 Nathan and his staff were absolutely wonderful throughout the entire planning process and our wedding! They made everything clear and easy. Andrew especially was incredible - so accommodating. We had a few guests with allergies and they were happy to have a separate salad for those guests. Super punctual and responsive to all of our questions. Everyone complimented the food. A major hit were the grilled cheese and tomato bisque shooters! I cannot recommend them more! Thank you Nathan, Andrew, and staff! You helped make our wedding perfect!

California Cookout recently catered my son’s wedding. We were extremely pleased with the beautiful charcuterie board for our cocktail hour and the delicious western Bbq for dinner. Everything was fantastic. The serving staff was also amazing. Super professional and very fun and friendly. The owner Nathan was extremely nice to talk with over the phone, getting the menu planned and finalized, as well as discussing all of the necessary details of the actual day. I would highly recommend California Cookout for anyone looking for a great catering experience.

Amazing service from California Cookout for our Christmas celebration! Highly recommend! Our guests walked away so happy and everyone was just raving about the food for days to come. So many asking for business cards. I'm very very happy we went with this company. I felt Nathan and his team went above and beyond. Everything went smooth from the initial call to the end of the service. He was so professional and kind over the phone when making a quote, even when changes were made to the event later on. Cannot recommend a caterer more. We used them for our wedding and all of our guests loved the food. It may seem like your classic wedding catering menu, but Nate and his team really elevate the flavors and deliver amazing food. He also worked really well with us on dietary restrictions (from celiac guests to vegetarians and several in between). Nate was great with communication and the process was incredibly straightforward. He and his team were perfectly on time and managed the event extremely well. Nate went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our wedding! We are still eating leftovers and excited about it, since the food was so good. A special part of working with Nate is that he really does everything he can to meet your budget. He has a variety of options and ways to keep to a smaller budget but still give your guests great food and service.

We just recently had our son's wedding catered by California Cookout. Everything was perfect. Nathan was a pleasure to work with over the phone, setting up the contract and getting everything planned to the smallest detail. The whole process was completed in about three easy phone calls. We did a charcuterie board for cocktail hour and the Bbq menu for dinner. Everything was delicious. Our guests really enjoyed the meal. His serving staff was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish, working with CA Cookout was a breeze. I am happy to update my review with some photos (now that I have an abundance of photos and our photographer happened to get some of the amazing food!) I wish I could have eaten more on my wedding, but as the bride, talking with everyone etc. I was lucky to sit down and grab a plate! Cookout can pretty much do whatever kind of food you want, table settings looked amazing, and I appreciate the very very affordable cost (seriously, you will not find a better quote for the quality/amount of food, and if you add on any drinks, plates, etc. I think it will be the best choice you make!

A call back like they said they would do would have been nice. Guess my business isn't of value to them. I'm Very disappointed. Was hopefully and looking forward to trying their food and service out for my events but can't rely of businesses that don't follow through.

My review is based on communication I asked for a price quote and was told they would get back to me but never happened So I had to find someone else which sucks cause did want to try them I get your busy but you can't hire someone to respond back or something not to professional.

Great choice for our school function! They served a delicious tri-tip, barbecue chicken, caesar salad, string beans, potatoes and pasta. Service was excellent and the staff was smiling and exuberant the entire time! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

5 stars all around! Nathan and his staff did an amazing job catering our wedding. They took care of our appetizers, vegetarian entree, and dessert all for an UNBELIEVABLY AFFORDABLE price. Even if we got meat entrees, the price would still have been a lot lower compared to other wedding catering options. I reached out to dozens of vendors and no one came close to CA Cookout's price points. The price is just the icing on the cake though. Nathan is efficient and organized. His staff was professional and quick. And the food was really good! We had picky eaters at our wedding and they came back for seconds!

Booked with california cookout for my wedding, Unfortunately it was cancelled but Nathan made the process from the beginning to the cancellation soooo smooth. The taste testing he offered was fun and so good. Catering vendors can be the hardest and most expensive part of a wedding but going with them was the easiest. If and when I have an event on the books I will definetly contact Nathan again. And to add another positive comment about Nathan himself, I had to cancel my wedding permanently meaning no postponing or anything. And he was supportive and didn't treat the cancellation like a transaction

California cookout catered for my families anniversary dinner. They looked very professional. Everything was set up with care and cleanliness. And they are reasonably priced with quality food. I would recommend them to anyone !

I'm a so happy that we booked with CC. Nathan was amazing from the start to finish. Most importantly, the food is great. All of our guests complimented how good the food was. We went with the surf and turf option and let me tell you that salmon is second to none. Our venue had a list of preferred vendors and CC was on that list. We knew we didn't want pasta or tacos and we appreciated the mix of options that came with our food. We had proteins, salad, pasta, veggies and some potatoes and rolls. It was just sooo good. Price point is great. Even with the upgraded option of surf and turf we were quoted a lot less than many others. All in all if I was throwing a future event I would definitely book with Nathan again!

Just had a fantastic event in which the food was hosted by Cal. Cookout and Nathan and one of his co-workers was there. We were celebrating my girlfriend's 40th high school reunion. OMG, has the time past by so quickly!!! It was 95 degrees++ and we were at Cortez Park, West Covina with about 50-60 people who showed up. The event was great, meeting all of Beth's friends and enjoying talking to all these friends of hers. Nathan was in charge of the food and thus let us begin the review of the catering food now:) First off Nathan was super nice and friendly, and mind you, we were all standing around in 95 degree temperature. We had some tents for some shading, but still it was brutal! The food served was Tri Tip Beef, Chicken, Cesar salad, some awesome potatoes, seasoned bread, pasta, and for desert we had peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Everything was great. Very tasty and the chicken was outstanding. I love how it was marinated. I spoke to Nathan for about 10 min. He is super nice and they do this catering type of business to events quite often. I highly recommend them! Shout out to Steve Miller (if you yelp) for organizing this fantastic event. I was glad to be a part of it and meet all of Beth's old classmates!

This was so long overdue! I thought I left a review before. My apologies Nathan! I've booked CC for a few occasions, first was for my mother's funeral service in March 2017, again at her one year unveiling, again for my daughter's high school graduation, again most recently for my father's funeral in 2021and each time they never disappoint. Nathan and his crew provides excellent service. The food is amazing. Surf and turf is our favorite, chicken, tri tip, salmon all delicious and cooked to perfection with great flavors. I added roasted potatoes or garlic mashed, Alfredo pasta, green salad with strawberries, green beans rolls and butter. My guests had positive reactions to the menu. Had other friends and family members booked California Cookout for their events through mine.I highly recommend CC for their excellent service and delicious menus.

California Cookout has catered our annual event for the last 3 years, and we have been very happy with both the food and the service, that's why we keep coming back! Exceptionally delicious catering for our COVID-friendly rehearsal dinner and wedding. Kudos to Nathan and the California Cookout team for their fantastic service and excellent culinary ensemble! Before I list the many wonderful things about our experience, I will offer one disclaimer: Nathan is a very busy guy, and therefore his response times to emails and phone calls can be rather slow. However, with enough time to prepare for your event and being patient with Nathan's busy schedule to give him time to reply, you will absolutely be 100% satisfied with the service. Now, for the good stuff! First of all, the entree selections on their menu are fairly diverse, so we had no shortage of options to choose from, and didn't feel pigeonholed into any particular main course. Sides and desserts were slightly less numerous, but were ALL fantastic, so the menu is definitely "quality over quantity" in terms of available selections. One BIG plus for us was that Nathan tries his best to make his dishes gluten-free when possible, and even though the peach cobbler was GF, it was absolutely to DIE for! We also had 2 wedding guests with other food allergies, namely cinnamon and tree nuts, and Nathan was very knowledgeable about exactly which ingredients went into every dish, including their sauces, sides, seasonings, you name it, so we were able to get our limited-menu guests taken care of without issue! I'm not exaggerating when I say that not a SINGLE plate was left unfinished. It was seriously THAT GOOD--delicious, soft pasta with flavorful sauces, buttery and flavorful rolls that were hot and fluffy, tender and robust tri-tip with a zesty signature BBQ sauce, spot-on "comfort food" level mashed potatoes, perfectly cooked green beans that weren't bland or mushy, crisp and fresh salads with delightful dressings, and that peach cobbler... just thinking about it makes my mouth water!! Thanks again to Nathan and the rest of the California Cookout crew for making our wedding feast a succulent success!

Amazing food! Amazing staff! We hired Nathan to cater our wedding. He delivers high quality in every aspect of his work. Not only was the food a hit at our wedding (guests are still raving about our dinner that night!), but also the entire planning process leading up to our big day was so easy. My husband and I ended every phone call feeling like we had without a doubt made the best choice!

I cannot express how much I loved working with Nathan! We got soo many compliments about the catering at our wedding, from the appetizers to the main course. Everyone went back for seconds and was completely stuffed. "This was way better than the food at OUR wedding," was one of the most heard comments we heard from our guests all evening. From the start, Nathan is super easy and flexible to what you want and need for your event. I went into this experience blindly, and he made me feel comfortable in all my decisions. He's so easy to reach, whether by text or email, and will always work with you and your schedule. During the event itself, he's on top of it. He made sure my husband and I ate and checked in on us regularly, bringing us water and drinks. He even made sure my husband got seconds! Nathan and his staff are so professional and friendly. Nathan catered a party at our house for my wife's birthday, and it was a big milestone, and the entire experience was tremendous. His team showed up on time; prepped the food and the set up; and was ready to serve in 20 minutes. The food was fantastic and we had leftovers for a few nights! i was worried that the salmon and veggies would be soggy, but they were one of the first items gone. i will definitely have Nathan back to any occasion.

I cannot help but give the absolute highest praises and recommendation to California Cookout! Everyone knows how stressful planning an event could be, but Nathan is an absolute boss. Like totally amazing, on point and sweet, his customer service is impeccable and we felt comfortable with him from the start. It was such a wonderful opportunity to work with him and he's made our experience incredible. The food is absolutely amazing, when we went to the tasting i could not even begin to describe how mouth watering it was (we chose the Santa Maria). The charcuterie is divine, the steak was tender and juicy, and the same with the chicken, it's just simply amazing food. You could taste that it's cooked with love and really taste every flavorful note. I wish I knew bigger and better words just to describe how amazing the food and service are, but really, truly, i would not (and never will) go anywhere else but California Cookout for all of my catering needs.

While planning my mother's 70th birthday party I knew I wanted to hire a caterer. Typically we get a local taco guy and though they are a hit every time, we wanted to try something different! As I searched, California Cookout stood out to me. The pictures of their appetizers and mason jar drinks stole the show for me! The response time was super quick and I was able to lock in the date for my event. Nathan was all booked up, but was able to squeeze us in since we had a smaller guest list. Nathan was super flexible with the selections and even gave me ideas for the rest of the party! I didn't feel pressured to go with any type of specific menu. Once we did the tasting, we made even more changes, with Nathan offering up more amazing recommendations. The billing process was easy, and a quote was provided the same day. You can tell it is very structured and calculated. I selected the dinner service in which they walked around with appetizers and served dinner. Nathan also called the guest for dinner as I kept getting distracted!! Thank you, Nathan and team for an amazing event!!

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Nathan is incredibly easy to work with and I will definitely use California Cookout again!

CA Cookout catered my neighbor's surprise birthday party and I couldn't get over the fact that they had hot food.. hot.. and cold food... cold! Basically every catered event I've been to (weddings etc), the food is always Luke warm, whether a meat dish or a salad/desert. The setup was great and the food was delicious. The gentleman serving the food was polite and I believe the owner.

California Cookout just catered our micro wedding and they did a FANTASTIC job. Nathan worked with us to create the perfect menu and made us feel really comfortable working with his team during a pandemic. Everyone loved the food (especially the kids!) and the individual charcuterie boxes were a hit. Nathan also made sure to serve us so we actually got to enjoy the food on our wedding day. We had a few guests with gluten allergies who told us that Nathan made them feel comfortable because he had a great understanding of ingredients and had taken the time to prepare food that met their needs. With only three weeks to plan a wedding reception due to COVID pivoting we put our trust into the preferred vendor list from La Villa Bella in Upland, Ca. My son and his fiancé up to this point had faced numerous changes and disappointments in planning their dream wedding! Nathan understood immediately the time constraints we were facing and the quick flip that needed to happen between events at La Villa Bella, he provided calm and positivity that it would all work out! He was the breathe of fresh air that was needed to push forward. Wedding Day I met Nathan in person, he was just as kind and pleasant in person as I had found him to be through the numerous phone calls and emails leading up to the big day! Several family members made a point of commenting on how delicious the food was and several returned to the buffet line for 2nds, the staff, presentation and quality of food are all definitely two thumbs Without hesitation I recommend California Cookout for your next event big or small, you will not be disappointed

Last year, Nathan and his California Cookout team catered our wedding of ~200 guests and did an absolutely tremendous job! When I first called him, he was very professional, courteous, understanding. He quickly opened up his schedule on short notice to get us in for a tasting, and we were pleased by the tri-tip, chicken, salad, and sides. From our first meeting, we could see how passionate he was about his craft. He patiently answered our questions from food options to pricing, and we felt confident enough to move forward with his services after briefly considering other options. As our wedding count and many other details changed, Nathan was very accommodating and quick to respond. It was easy to communicate with him via email, phone, and text. On the day of the actual wedding, Nathan and his team executed very well and helped make things run as smoothly as possible. They remained flexible with some unexpected, last-minute changes and worked fast while making sure all the guests had enough food. We were pleased to see our guests walking around with generous portions on their plates. Just as other people have already described in the other reviews, the food was delicious and our guests raved about it! During the reception, I had some chances to look around and appreciate the moment. I still remember how Nathan smiled and actually spent time talking to the guests. In the end, it was much more than just serving food. Although this review is long overdue, my wife and I are still very grateful for Nathan's great service. Nathan is amazing!!!! My now husband and I went to his tasting before booking him and enjoyed everything he served us. We ended up ordering a completely different menu (that we hadn't had a chance to sample) because it went with our theme, and he did NOT disappoint. The food was INCREDIBLE! Our wedding guests were ranting and raving about the food. Couldn't be happier that we picked California cookout. I love the charcuterie as well. If I hadn't ordered from a different vendor, I would definitely have added it on. On top of that, Nathan was really great to work with too. We told him we were trying to save money and he worked with us to cut cost anywhere we could like suggesting we provide our own drinks and plates instead of picking one of his packages. I really appreciate that! I didn't feel like he was trying to just get money out of us like it feels with some other vendors. Don't hesitate to book him. He's so sweet and the food is EVERYTHING AND MORE!!!!

Words cannot describe how grateful my husband and I are for Nathan and his wonderful team. Everyone complimented on his food and his mango tea, was by far the best tea we have ever had. Throughout our wedding journey, Nathan was communicative, easy going, and patient. Luckily I had just enough time to find Nathan and hire him for our event after doing a taste testing. Not only super reasonable pricing but everyone raved about how amazing the food was at our wedding. The icing on the cake was him making sure we could pay after the event to relieve some stress on my end and him personally congratulating us.
