When I found out that there was a California Pizza Kitchen at Lenox Square, I thought, "Would they have a full menu at the food court?" Then I found out that this CPK wasn't at the food court; it was one level up and in the vicinity of the food court.
This is a full service restaurant on the Plaza Level. This CPK doesn't have very much privacy, because it doesn't have any walls or ceilings. While CPK customers can easily see mall shoppers walking by, mall shoppers can also see CPK customers eating.
We walked to the host station, and were met quickly by the hostess who welcomed us and quickly showed us a table in the middle of the dining area near the bar and gave us menus. That's when I realized how open this restaurant was, and the spaciousness was nice too. Our server came to take our drink orders. I still wasn't ready to order when he brought our drinks and some bread and and olive oil dip. The menu has a whole lot of items on it, and we ordered an appetizer, Mexican Street Corn. I thought the Mexican Street Corn had great presentation; however the it was just ok. I was expecting bold flavors, but everything was just mild and average. While we were eating the appetizer, I ordered the Garlic Cream Fettuccine with shrimp, and R ordered Kung Pao Spaghetti. Our meals were served, nice and hot, to us within 15 minutes of us ordering them. After our meals were served, our server didn't return to our table unless we flagged him down for something.
We both like our meals. The sauce on my fettuccine wasn't the best I've had, but it was still very good. The pasta was al dente and the 6 shrimp I got in the dish were cooked perfectly and not dry. R said his meal was good. The portions were big and filling.
This experience was 3.5 stars that I rounded up to 4. Although our server was nice and courteous, I felt that he had forgotten about us once our entrees were served. We even had to wait awhile for our check while he was taking care of customers sitting on the edges of the dining area, forgetting that we were still there in the middle of the restaurant.
