LA Steakhouse Chain Sizzler Declares Bankruptcy Because of Coronavirus | Eater LA

"I note that the article compares Sizzler to California Pizza Kitchen when discussing bankruptcy as a strategy to shrink footprints, renegotiate business terms, and try to survive into a post–COVID-19 world." - Farley Elliott

Located in Hillsdale Shopping center. We passed by this several times but only visited this recently. The indoor seating are vaster than we thought. It’s warmly decorated in warm light with comfortable seats. Our server was very kind and friendly. He spoke softly but in a very polite way. He gave us time to decide as it was our first time but he also returned quickly once we waved for service. The food was better than I expected. To tell the truth, I don’t like pizzas but my son loves cheese pizza, so we would have pizzas once in a while. The only pizza I like is Hawaiian, the controversial pizza with ham and pineapple and is invented by the Canadian. This place serves Hawaiian which delighted me as many pizza restaurants in the Bay area don’t serve that option. We also ordered the house’s Tomato Basil Bisque soup, one Original BBQ chicken pizza for kids, and their special Butter cake as dessert. For drinks, I ordered their Sparkling Watermelon Cooler as we cannot tolerate alcohol. Their food was delicious. I didn’t think any dishes were bad, although my husband complained the Butter cake was too sweet. But, I like that sweetness and I’m the one reviewing, so nothing is wrong here :) the drink was also satisfying.

I would say this place is perfectly average. Service was so so. The pizza was good, but nothing impressive. The dumplings seemed way too soggy. I can think of better places in the mall to eat. And they need to dust the lights. The idea of all that dust falling in my food is nasty

Google
The food was really good they serve packed plates the strawberry lemonade drink is really good. The customer service is good, it was a little short staffed when I went one person was serving almost every table, but besides that everything was good. Artichoke dip was good….. tequila chicken pasta was Great.

Had a wonderful experience celebrating my daughter’s birthday here. We originally placed a catering order, but the team graciously accommodated our last-minute request to switch to dine-in. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food was both delicious and generously portioned. Will definitely be back!

Google
Server was kind of awkward, lots of confusion with who ordered what, but it’s understandable given we had a large table of 13 The dish was under salted but still better than too salty, the pasta noodles itself was very very good The shrimp appetizer was delicious! Also why was my plate noticeably smaller than the pastas other people ordered hahah

On this day we came in after lunch and it was empty. We had to wait for more than 7 mins to get seated even though there were a few employees walking around. That was NOT the problem, it was the service. The wait times were sooo long I could not get a refill of my water. The waiter took more than 15 mins to come back and take our order. After giving us our food, she never came back until I asked someone else for help. What kind of service is this? We have been here, previously, many times and it was not this bad. If the restaurant is full then I understand, however, that was NOT the case on this day. I think they recently changed owners or managers ?? They've also taken some items off the menu. I would avoid this place! Eat at Shake Shack or Pinstripes.

Went in on a Sunday to order pizza to go. Was directed to the far end of the counter where a pleasant cashier took our order. A few moments later, the pizza was ready. They gave us a big paper bag. Thank you. Will eat pizza wheh we get home. Very good

Google
Very conveniently located on the ground floor of Hillsdale Mall. We went for lunch and there were no lines and the host gave us a nice booth. The service is friendly and fast but not rushed. The salad was fresh and crisp. The veg sandwich tasted OK … could have used some jalapeños!! The fingerling roasted potatoes were delish. It was a pleasant experience and the food was filling. This is a nice spot for a casual meal. Their pizza oven is wood fired and although we did not try any pizza I think their pizzas have to be awesome!

Yelp
CPK was a thing in the past for me. When the kid was young and had simpler taste bud, anything pizza (or anything that looks like pizza) was always the best bet. CPK was the solutions. Then we left... Fast forward 10 yrs later, I need to feed my colleagues. Mind you they are in their 20s. So, I ordered: Carne Asada, the Works, Burnt Ends BBQ, and for the not so grown up yet, Pepperoni. Needless to say, we all had rush of Endorphins after consuming the pies. Every single bite was a pleasure. Thank you CPK for making our GoodBye Meeting less painful.

Yelp
We had a very enjoyable dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in San Mateo. The food was excellent -- we shared a Caesar salad and tried the 5-cheese & tomato pizza plus the Sicilian pizza, and everything was flavorful and well-made. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience more pleasant. That said, our reservation experience left something to be desired. We told the reservation girl we were on the waitlist and were told it'd be about a 40-minute wait. But after just 30 minutes, we got a text asking if we were still coming. All in all, great food and service -- just wish the waitlist communication was handled better.

Yelp
I had the Habanero Carnitas Pizza. It is made with seasoned and slow-cooked pulled pork, red onions, cilantro pesto, Mozzarella and Queso Quesadilla cheese with spicy habanero salsa. The pizza was delicious and I highly recommend it. Service was great.

Yelp
I don't tend to like pizzas or chains, but I love this pizza chain. I'm not too sure why the reviews here are average, because this CPK always hits and is pretty popular amongst the mall denizens. They have a weekday happy hour and lunch specials, take and bakes, and even calorie counts. They do occasional promotions and let you stack certain coupons, and most of the employees try their utmost to give you the best service; some of the Italian servers are also quite attractive. Have I waited a long time for stuff before? Yes but not unreasonably long, but I find myself coming back here time and time again because they consistently satisfy my dine-out cravings. Depending on the time of day, there may be a wait, or the place may be empty. Tables are usually pretty clean, and they have a takeout ordering counter near the back (they have good packaging). I've had a lot of things on their menu, so I'll just give some pointers and list my favorites. Their complimentary bread and olive oil is freakishly delicious, especially when it's fresh from the oven (you may have to request it if they forget). Someone here knows how to make bread. It's cold and stale sometimes, but if you hit them at the right time, you're going to need ask for some refills. Ask them for freshly grated parmesan cheese (they sometimes forget to offer) - they grate it right over and it's delicious and melty. Their cocktails are decent, appetizers are good (though I wish there was more variety and stuff from a generic Italian restaurant instead of fusion), and salads are filling even at half portion. The pasta is pretty delicious and tastes high-end, like they make the pasta there and use quality ingredients for the sauce (except the spaghetti). Their chicken dishes tend to run dry so I'll avoid that protein here unless it's their specialty pizza or salad (they are known for The Original - barbecue chicken topping). The pizza is nice and light, artisanal-tasting, thin and floppy, with a chewy bready crust. It's won't be as good as wood-fired pizza, but it does a decent imitation.

Yelp
Have been here a number of times with kids. This place is located inside of hillsdale shopping mall. Some wait time is expected on average. They would reach you via text for seat status. Their host system is not very good. There are often long lines for the hosts to either get into the line for seating or waiting to be seated. Often time just one person here for both arranging for seating and guiding people to their seats. Place here is of a good size, with plenty of seating around a bathroom within. Good food options for the entire family and some opportunities to get kiddos into healthier eating options. Food is reasonably priced. Service has improved over the years but still a hit and miss. Would like coming back as my kids command.

Yelp
Located in San Mateo's Hillsdale Shopping Center, CPK seems to always have a healthy crowd of patrons. This speaks to their quality of offerings and diverse menu options. At most, I've waited perhaps 10 mins for a table, even on busier days and times. Service has been consistently solid and friendly. Their non-alcoholic Cucumber Reviver is bright and refreshing and recommended. Lately, I've ordered the same entree time and time again, which again is a testament to this menu item. That item would be their California Club pizza(applewood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, mozzarella, slices of avocado, fresh tomato, basil, and Arugula). This is literally a balanced meal served as a pizza. The interior is fairly deep in size, and can accommodate large and small parties with various seating configurations. I understand Hillsdale mall, as well as the surrounding neighborhood, will be under going under major a major transformation in the coming years. I do hope they keep CPK around for the long haul.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant. I like the location if the place since it's located in Hillsdale Mall. The food itself is basic american food. Nothing too special with the food... The staff is very attentive and I like the ambiance inside the restaurant. I feel like their pasta is pretty bland to me, but I enjoyed the pizza & their complimentary bread.

Yelp
Pizza, salads and mixed drinks are actually really good + service is excellent! Super shocked and nicely surprised. Value is also amazing if you get the gift cards from Costco for $70 for $100 worth of food. Also for each entree you can take home any of their pizzas for $9. For happy hour All cocktails are $8 and impressively well done. IE: their old fashioned is with a luxardo cherry! Wine is not so great.

Yelp
We ordered through Doordash. Never again!! The CLASSIC CAESAR had no cesar dressing! the avocado that we paid extra for was old and brown all the way through!! The GARLIC CREAM FETTUCCINE was under cooked! The noodles were not soft, my wife could not eat it! I requested utensils and did not get any! CPK used to have quality food, very disappointed!

Yelp
We came around 7 pm on a Sunday, and we were seated right away. It took a few minutes to be served water and bread. I got the strawberry lemonade that came with free refills. I specifically come here for the chicken piccata and the chicken lettuce wraps. These two dishes are so flavorful and paired well. The music was not too loud, and they had TVs playing sports.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Brings back great memories of my childhood coming to CPK after a day of shopping. We always pick a couple of pizzas and a salad to balance out the meal. Run to Costco as grab some $100 gift cards for $80 for a sweeter deal.

Yelp
I've always loved coming to CPK especially for their lunch duo specials. I think it's such a steal! We came during lunchtime on a weekday around 1:30 and waited around 15 mins to be seated. Located inside Hillsdale mall. Large interior, plenty of seats. They informed us that they were out of pizzas for the lunch duo. We were shocked because it was 1:45pm and they have their lunch specials until 4pm. Our server informed us they would have more available at 2pm, so we decided to wait since it was only 15 mins at that point. Past 2pm the server came back to tell us there would be no more lunch sized pizzas. I wish they informed us before we were seated, since I think California Pizza Kitchen being out of lunch sized pizzas might be something worth mentioning beforehand. However our server accommodated us by giving us full sized pizza slices that added up to similar in portion to the lunch sized personal pizzas, and he matched the price of the lunch duo, which we appreciated greatly. We were able to enjoy the food we had originally planned at the same cost. Despite the great service, I still knocked out a star due to not having lunch pizzas available during lunch time! Their tomato basil bisque is phenomenal, with a little kick of spice. We had the mushroom pepperoni sausage pizza and original bbq chicken pizza, which were both great. I always love their crust - thin and crispy on the outside yet chewy on the inside.

Yelp
We had a good lunch here. The Jambalaya Pasta was delicious. The waiter warned that it was spicy but it wasn't. We also had the Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad which I found a tad different now from the salad from prior years. We split both dishes and it was enough for 2 people. I also liked the bread with olive oil.

Yelp
Updated take out menu. Wife craved a sandwich they no longer offer. Service was efficient. Chill ambiance waiting for take out food, which is located in the middle of the restaurant.

Yelp
The butter cake is hella good, they really hooked it up and the staff is so great beautiful and amazing. I got my free bday dessert yes!!

Yelp
During my visit, I observed several instances of unprofessional conduct by Gabriel Castellanos and our waiter. while handling food on the expo line. He failed to wash his hands at any point and indiscriminately discarded receipts on top of dishes. Consequently, servers were compelled to remove the tickets using their bare hands, which raises significant concerns regarding sanitation. Additionally, I documented the presence of raw chicken that remained exposed throughout my visit, presenting a serious risk of cross-contamination and demonstrating a lack of adherence to food safety standards. The establishment's rating of 2.9 is warranted based on these observations. The service was also poorly organized. All courses were served simultaneously despite our request for appetizers to be delivered first. Furthermore, although we inquired about bread, it was never provided by the server. My younger brother came to visit to celebrate Mothers Days and Ca This place used to be good, what happened?

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised how good this place still is - I thought it had fallen off! We went here for the $10 pizza special and it was great! The bbq chicken pizza was great and the server was extremely friendly and cool to talk to. Located in the Hillsdale mall so parking can be a little hard but definitely come back and give it a try!
google avatar

Yelp
The lunch duo deal is pretty good- I had the tomato basil bisque and mushroom pepperoni sausage pizza. The soup was great, good flavor. I am a sucker for tomato soup. The pizza was good as well, lots of toppings. So unfortunately there was a bug (with wings and legs lol) underneath one of the slices, and when management learned of this they were able to fire up a new one no problem. If you dine, maybe check your plates. Happy hour is 50% off drinks, not bad. The endless sunshine drink was tasty, but more fruity than boozy. Does CPK still do complimentary bread? We weren't given the option :(

Yelp
Went to CPK at the Hillsdale Mall. The service was great and servers were very attentive. The restaurant was clean and spacious, perfect sized tables for 2 youngsters and 2 adults. We ordered the artichoke spinach dip which came out hot and the chips were perfectly crunchy. Very flavorful. I ordered the margherita pizza which was mid. Didn't have a lot of flavor and the cheese fell off the top with very bite. The crust was a little doughy for my liking. The size of the pie was perfect for one person. I would definitely come back, but would get a different pizza.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Place was clean and the staff nice. What made this not so great was lack of parenting. A party with 4 kids 4 and under letting their kids act like animals and did nothing about it. I looked at all the tables in our section and they all not pleased with that. Wish someone from the staff would have said something. The Pizza was great and loved the crust. Our poor waiter was working his rear off. Think they needed one more person. We will return.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and was really craving something fresh for lunch. I usually don't go for chain spots, especially ones in the mall--half the time the food isn't great and service can be hit or miss. But I gave CPK a try and honestly, I'm so glad I did. As I walked in, the team greeted me with smiles as I passed by--it felt super warm and welcoming. I got seated fast, and Abel, my server, was awesome. Super friendly, not pushy, just genuinely helpful. He got me going with drinks and recommended the White Corn Guac, which came out looking beautiful. Someone from the kitchen actually brought it over and checked to make sure it looked and tasted good. It did--so fresh and full of flavor. I ordered the Waldorf Chicken Salad but subbed in grilled shrimp instead. Everything was super fresh and the shrimp were grilled perfectly. Big portions too! I also grabbed their $9 take-and-bake pizza deal to have for dinner later (a little bonus win). And shoutout to how clean the place was--I definitely noticed. Mall chains can sometimes feel rushed or bland, but this location really felt like they care. Everyone was kind, the food was great, and I left super satisfied. Big thanks to Abel and the San Mateo crew!

Yelp
My daughter and I enjoyed our lunch with amazing seats near the kitchen. Cauliflower crust was delish!!! Food and service was excellent! No complaints!

Yelp
The food was good! They delivered food costing me, $29.23.........Fine‼ I added a tip as I always do! They added a "Dispatch Fee" of $7.74(?) It does not make sense. Why not increase the price of the food? Don't like being nickel and dimed!

Yelp
3.5 for me -- average fast casual. It's been years since I've had CPK, but I remembered that their Thai chicken pizza is pretty good. We came here on New Year's Day since it was open and we were already at the mall. Decent fast casual option if you're in the mood for things like pizza. Convenient location as parking in easy since there's lots of options nearby and you can shop around the mall before and after lunch. Staff was friendly and at least the women's bathroom was clean. The Thai chicken pizza was good (not great, but still good). I felt like it could have used more toppings. It looked like the toppings were concentrated in the center, so we ended up with some deep long crusts. Also the toppings were kind of dry, so I'm not sure if they weren't fresh or maybe got overcooked. We also ordered the children's cheesy pasta, which tasted good. We were able to bring in our outside drinks like Philz and Jamba Juice, so that was convenient and helpful. There's a variety of seating options inside. As a family, we sat comfortably in one of the booths by the large window.

Yelp
Went in today with my family and unfortunately felt very unwelcome. The restaurant was pretty slow, with only about three tables occupied, but the service we received made us feel like an afterthought. The table next to us got all the attention and even received a 30% discount. We ordered from the happy hour menu, and were planning on ordering more, but barely got any acknowledgment. Our food was quickly dropped off without much interaction, and when we asked about dessert, instead of being shown the full menu, we were oddly told to choose from the kids' menu. At that point, we were so surprised and disappointed that we just paid and left. We were really hoping for a relaxing meal out, but the lack of care and uneven service left us feeling really uncomfortable. Not sure we'll be coming back.

Yelp
CPK San Mateo is located in the Hillsdale Mall and will meet your hunger pains while shopping. There's an open food court along with some upscale restaurants in this mall; however we wanted to eat in a sit-down, booth restaurant, with no wait. CPK met our needs. This CPK is larger than it looks with a front and back section in its elongated design. Individual tables mostly in the front section while more booths are located in the back section. Service is decent although a little slow on getting bread and water. Being Mushroom addicts (that sounded weird) we opted for the Mushroom Pizza with a side of Truffle Oil and the Vietnamese Salad with Chicken. We liked the pizza although it needed more mushrooms, the salad also needed more chicken and it's dressing was a bit light in taste. Overall, it's ok if you don't want to wait for the upper priced nearby restaurants and don't want food court faire.

Yelp
Food is on point as well the service but here is one very important suggestion we hope it will not fall on deaf ears. I wash my hands before meals and going in the washroom makes it unappetizing and had to sit for a few minutes to clear what I saw. OMG ! I did not have the heart to post photos, go see for yourselves and you will understand clearly. To the management of this branch. Please clean your restrooms ? The mens room urinal and toilet bowl seems to have never ever gotten a good scrubbing and the urinal has a thick calcium build up and the smell is unbearable. We go here 2 tines a week and the same restroom condition and it is in need of daily disinfecting and scrubbing. It only takes 5 minutes at closing to clean it and disinfect etc. Honestly we hate to see you all get bad ratings. We will edit this review of things change on our next visit.

Yelp
Once a month I'm dining in this location. The prices of the launch menu are really good. All the dishes are tasty and the service is nice and welcoming.

Yelp
An everyday to go place! There's something for everyone with a casual relaxed feel. Generous portions with an array of delicious dishes. The bacon butter cake! Yummm....oh my! But the service is terrific everything served with a great helpful vibe. You are well taken care of when you're here, especially with Gabriel!

Yelp
It was the week between Christmas and New Year's, a week when many people are on vacation and the mall is a great place to go. That makes the restaurants and food places very busy. Be patient, be kind, show grace. That said, the food was delicious, The service was very slow but that was due to a large number of customers and few waitstaff. I get it. Our table of six had a great waiter who worked very hard to take care of us. I thought CPK only served pizza as it had been decades since I ate at one in Southern California. This time I had a cup of tortilla soup, street corn, and guacamole and chips, all of which were delicious. Makes me want to try to CPK in Fresno and have these again. This location has a bar with lots of tvs on showing a variety of sports shows. Being at Hillsdale Mall, the windows show the traffic, inside and outside, coming and going, great for people watching. I had used the restroom at Nordstroms, but hubby used the one at CPK and said it needed to be cleaned. Again, a matter of too few workers.
google avatar

Gene D.

Yelp
One of the hallmarks of the many CPK locations is consistency, at a fair price. Today was not one of those days. Our dining journey was off to a decent start with their complementary bread, White Corn Guacamole, and Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower. The only issue with those were the chips. It looks like they had given us the broken ones that you'd typically find at the bottom of the bag. After that, it went downhill a bit. The Korean BBQ Steak Pizza was a major disappointment. In fact, we sent back of the 2 pizzas we had at the table. A member of our party ordered his without the sriracha-lime hot sauce. So, his pizza a pretty bland with tough pieces of meat. The other pizza came without the sauce as well, though we had not asked to have it taken out. After asking for a side of the sauce, that pizza was palatable. The Banh Mi Power Bowl was just ok. Service was good. Javier got overwhelmed trying to handle our party of 7 and the other party of about 15 people. Thankfully, a team member came by at our request. She took our orders and checked on us frequently.

Yelp
One of my go to spots for a quick lunch in the north Peninsula, they have a vegan tortilla soup, the lunch menu is definitely a bang for the buck. Specifically, I enjoy how they serve you a freezing cold glass with my seltzer.

Yelp
5/7/22 I have heard from a few people that California Pizza Kitchen was pretty good so I decided to try it out. My boyfriend and I were in the Hillsdale Mall when we passed by California Pizza Kitchen. When we asked for a table, we were told to wait 20 min even though many tables were open... We came back 20 minutes later and we were seated in the very back of the restaurant, which was pretty empty too. Our waiter was very quiet and handed us the menus and water without saying hello. He came back a few minutes later with a plate of chopped bread and a bowl of olive oil. We got one pizza to share: thai chicken pizza. We didn't have to wait long for the pizza to arrive. It had all the stuff normally found in a thai dish: carrots, bean sprouts, peanuts and cilantro with a chili sauce drizzled over it. To be honest, I wasn't really a fan it. The idea of a thai-inspired pizza seemed good, but the actual pizza itself was the exact opposite. There wasn't a whole lot of chicken on there; it was mostly covered with the veggies and the peanuts. The dough was thin and a little undercooked in the center. Maybe we picked the wrong kind of pizza to try that day because my first impression of it was not good. I might be willing to come back and try something else, but I wouldn't come here on a regular basis.

Good food. Prices were higher for portion size. Wait time was 45-50 minutes. Great As ambiance and they have few vegetarian options z

Yelp
I don't expect fancy dining, but I do expect acceptable service. This is where the Hillsdale CPK fell severely short last week when we dined there. We arrived and waited at the host stand for over 10 minutes before someone came to greet and seat us. It was a Wednesday night and it did not look very crowded. Worse, we couldn't even tell who the host was. Several employees were shuffling around, but no one was looking in our direction as the queue to be seated grew to 4 parties. Finally, someone came to seat us. We were seated and then it took another almost 10 minutes before a server came to our table. We couldn't flag someone down because we didn't know who our server was. There was an older Latina server busting her butt taking care of about a dozen tables by herself. I wish we had her. There was another young girl who looked like she was the barkeep but was also taking care of 3 tables. It turns out the latter was our server. What was annoying to see was that she was taking her sweet ole time. No urgency. She was walking the speed you would strolling through the mall. She was helping tables one at a time. She would bring out what they needed and only then check other tables who had flagged her down, needing something. No evidence of multitasking. Finally, she took our full order - we had waited so long we didn't want to wait for her to bring our drinks and then take our food order - and we proceeded to wait another 12 minutes until our drinks and an appetizer were brought to the table. Great, so we had drinks and some food but were missing silverware and plates. You would think that's a basic need and would be noticed by the server. We waited another 8 and a half minutes until our main dishes were brought out. Another annoyance - she put in the wrong pizza order for our son. When a server takes an order WITHOUT writing anything down they are fully to blame for a mistaken dish. I later realized that since she didn't write anything down she did not read back our order for accuracy. My son's correct pizza came out after another 10 minutes since they made the wrong one and they had to make it anew. We ate our food - at least that was good. Getting our check was another wait. I saw two things wrong that night. One- there were only two servers in the front room. When there is something like 25 tables and bar seats, how can this restaurant staff only 2 servers? Is it a cost-saving decision? If that's the case, shame on the franchisees. Stop being cheap and staff properly - I used to come to this restaurant a lot before we had kids and the service was always fast and welcoming. Two, that server needs training and maybe shadow the older Latina server to learn how to hustle. Figure it out, CPK. We noticed a patron who was waiting so long that she got up and left. I don't blame her. She was seated but no one came to their table for at least 8 minutes. If I didn't have hungry kids I would have done the same. [See my attached screencap of my timer. Something told me to use the timer just to see how slow they'd be.]

If you have kids, this is the place to go! Right now they have a kids eat free promo every Mon-Thur going until the end of July. Each free kids meal comes with each adult ordered entree. Combine this with discounted gift cards from Costco and you get a very yummy affordable family meal! We the parents especially like the full size salads (go to is the Thai chicken) and pair it with a cauliflower crust pizza (I like mushroom or just plain cheese). The kids go for the personal pizzas or the tomato sauce pasta. Top off the meal with a kids sundae made with Haagen Dazs ice cream and you're all set! The service is friendly and the place is very clean. It is also very family friendly. We have been going weekly so far!

Yelp
Food: We always get their chicken piccata and seasonal watermelon salad. Both of the items are super tasty. I do not know how many times we ordered their chicken piccata. It's incredible! Service: Robin and Jorge are amazing. Thank you so much for their effort to make our dining experience the best!!! Ambiance: The atmosphere is great! They have tables, boots and seats in the bar area. Since you can see the kitchen, you can make sure how clean they make the dishes. As always, definitely will be back!

Yelp
Maybe CPK don't have your kind of pizza, but OMG their Buffalo Cauliflower is one of the best I have ever had! First of all, I am not sure what they put in their Buffalo sauce, it was AMAZING! And it was DEEP FRIED, probably not the healthiest option but it tastes 10000000 times better! Topped with yummy fresh blue cheese and fresh scallions. 5 stars from me yay!

Yelp
Anyone besides me craving the "original" pre "C" pizza? We have tried three times to get the pizza we so adored at least several times a month. The last three times we tried the barbecue chicken that was so much sauce as the focus it looked scary to eat. Only a few bits of dried up chicken were found after a timely search. Would I pay $3 extra for more chicken they now offer? Not a chance knowing they are a dollar each nibble. The crust was so overly chewy the chance of reheating this was so out of question as it would have turned to rubber. The other Thai chicken pizza sang the same sad story. Think rubbery crust with so few toppings even the scallions were sparse. A few peanuts and again three bits of chicken. We did order take out since we stopped by on the way home from the NFL game and it was ready in a timely manner I will give them that. The take out counter was clean and efficient. I can't see this place surviving much longer at this quality of food. You're letting the star of your company take the hit. The food. Guys, your reviews are consistent. I fear your success with repeated bad food at a hearty price x 3. We can't give you another chance till we hear improvement. Will be watching!

Yelp
Is there a cheese shortage???? I ordered the Mac and cheese on door dash and it came with maybe half a shot of cheese on it. The Sahara desert is more moist than those noddles. My poor macaroni basically came naked and afraid. Even in person I've had problems with the amount of cheese that this cheapskate of a restaurant gives. Please be better for the future and stop being some stinky lil cheap bums on the cheese.

Yelp
Food: Wonderful spot for a delicious meal. I first came here with my niece while Christmas shopping and the food is great. I totally love their Chicken Tequila Spinach Fettucine and the Tostada Pizza. Yum! Service: Let me just say, A shoutout to their Assistant Manager Gabriel. He always has a warm smile when I come in and knows the most popular picks, in terms of size and flavor, and he never rushed his staff to serve us. He even helps them when they need help!! I absolutely loved the way Gabriel recommended some great new menu items to try as well when I asked him what he would recommend if I already tried some of the other popular food. When I come here the staff is friendly, and always happy to see Gabriel because is always kind and friendly and professional. One time, Gabriel even took care of me when he saw my grandkids were cranky and preferred something else on the kids menu. Gabriel goes above and beyond! Kudos and shout out again to Gabriel. I appreciate people like him. Ambiance: The restaurant is great, location in the mall is great. and they have enough room and tables to sit at and its is always nice to see that they are a busy place! The bar area is great for single eaters as well.

Yelp
I haven't had CPK for a while, so I thought why not give it another try. This CPK is located inside the Hillsdale mall. The restaurant is spacious and great for families or big groups. I ordered the Thai chicken pizza to go. By "Thai," it means some bean sprouts, carrots, scallions, cilantro, and bland peanut sauce. There were probably less than 5 pieces of chicken. The pizza crust was crispy which was good, but the flavor was not there and definitely not worth $20.

Yelp
I'm loving their new lunch menu combo menu! They have included the Thai crunch salad my favorite. The kids menu is a good portion for the price(under $7) including milk too. Our server Kaitlin was top notch too

Yelp
Closer to 3.5 stars. This CPK is so close to my home that I could possibly walk here, but I will not as I'm not really a walker and especially not in the cold. I have been going to CPK's for what seems like half of my life, and I have always found their food to be solid. Most recently, I came here for a weekend lunch and decided to try their Lunch combo plate(7 days a week) that gives you a personal 7" pizza or another main dish and as well as a side dish. On this day, I choose their Marinara pasta and their Tomato Bisque soup. The pasta was solid and I enjoyed the soup I chose. I especially like how they bring you steaming hot bread to your table. This is a small but very nice touch. Our waiter was literally running from table to table, doing his best to provide excellent service to everyone, and he definitely succeeded on that front. Kudos to him and the staff here for all of the great service they provide.
