No fee to get in, donations gladly accepted! I'm so glad we stopped, it was a very cute and interesting museum, full of California history! Kids loved it too, so many things they had no idea were common in our homes back in the day! The ppl working/volunteering there were friendly and knowledgeable! We had fun!

Google
Beautiful place to come and visit. Totally worth it even though it's not as big as a huge museum, but the history and stories in there make this place unique. If you are seeking to go back in time, this is the place. They have plenty of souvenirs, T-shirts, and even drinks to buy from, and at very good, affordable prices

M Mina

Google
Awesome, flashback to the past..so many memorabilia..and the vibe of the store is definitely worth...kids had a great time too.

Google
A nice homage to the old road. Expect some authentic nostalgia plus fun history thrown together and you’ll be happy to have visited. There were a few nice surprises too, such as a Cars poster signed by the voice actor for the Sheriff.

Google
Super dope little spot to come by and see antiques/relics of route 66 local to the area!! Theres multiple photo ops inside and the workers are so informative and helpful. Theres a giftshop as well

Google
Parking was a little difficult to find, but spacious once you get in. The ladies working here were very pleasant and offered to take a photo of us in the love bug. Location is the perfect size for the amount of displays and information they had ready for viewing. There was also a little train set zooming around, very nice.

Greg Rowe

Google
This museum was a fantastic stop for my family and I. It is free to visit and was filled with multiple historic artefacts from the route 66 past. The shop was also excellent, it had keychains, magnets, T-shirts, caps, stickers and signs. I highly recommend buying a piece of memorabilia. The museum itself was very interesting and told the story of route 66 very well. There was lots of history vehicles and signed posters which was great to see l. The staff were also fantastic. They were friendly, informative and welcoming and went the extra mile to give us suggestions on where to stop next. I highly recommend visiting this shop/museum if you are driving past it.

Google
We stopped here on our way to Vegas. It is free. The staff is very welcoming. We got many souvenirs from there at very affordable prices. The place has so much history to show. Kids loved the cars displayed there. There is also a train station just opposite to the museum. Luckily kids got to see two trains during the visit.

Yelp
The people that work here are so sweet and welcoming. Entrance is free but I highly suggest leaving a donation to keep them in business. There's three separate rooms with amazing things to show the kids. I have an 8 year old and he was so interested in the old technology and appliances. They also have valuable history on Victor valley. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend checking them out.

Yelp
It is important that this museum exists. Route 66 is American Kitsch and American Memorabilia at it's best. It may not be the Best Museum in the world - yet a Hot Dogs isn't the best snack in the world. However Hot Dogs are so totally American that to experience America one must try a Hot Dog. There is nothing like it, however below par it might be. The same holds true for the California Route 66 Museum. One must visit this place, even if it's not the Best Museum in the world, because it displays a history that is so totally American that one must give it the respect to shine it's dim lite on the wonderful Route 66, a road experience which will never happen again. There is no other museum like it that I know of. We drove on Route 66 in a VW Bus in 1969 from New Mexico to Chicago, when Route 66 was still alive. 66 went thru towns lined with independent theme-motels, mom & pop stores, Indian Trading Posts selling handmade crafts, truck-stops serving fresh-cooked local meals, & tourist attractions like Dinosaur Parks, Go-Carts, & Mini-Golf all along the way. It offered such wonderful Americana. Now Route 66 has entire sections washed away by floods, erosion, and neglect. Nearly every restaurant & motel is boarded up, burnt down, or eaten away by termites. Replacing Route 66 is a multi-lane Interstate Super-Highway stretching from California to New York. And the only restaurants along it are Fast-Food Drive-Thru. And it's only Motels are Franchise Chains. Route 66 is like a priceless American Cathedral. It should be preserved.

Yelp
Two words... very kitschy. An amalgamation of donations from locals, with each item telling a story of the historic Route 66. The gift shop does not add much. The museum is free but donations or purchases from the gift shop are highly encouraged. The best part is the staff that can recommend nearby sites to see.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Great place to stop, they have a gift shop inclusinf postcards. bathroom and fun museum. About 30m.

Yelp
The museum was a gem that we didn't know about until one of the locals suggested it. It was very nice. The Route 66 Museum in Victorville also has a cute little stop for anyone interested in the history of the iconic highway and buying souvenirs. It's small has the cutest memorabilia and exhibits that display the cultural impact and significance of the legendary route 66. You'll find vintage signs, old photographs, and displays about the communities that Route 66 passed through. The museum also offers some cool interactive elements, like vintage vehicles and restored gas pumps, which really take you back in time. It's not a huge museum, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're driving through the area like my friends and I did from Las Vegas. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and they shared great stories about Route 66. The location is also nice because it's near the original route 66 so you can take a stroll afterward and get a feel for the area's history. Be careful because there are quite a few vagrants and the surrounding area is a bit run down. Nevertheless, this museum was a fun, low-key stop if you're into Americana and road trip culture. Make sure you pick up a souvenir shot glass or cup. They r pretty cool!

Yelp
Very cool! I love new places and new experiences...the area surrounding it needs a bit of a facelift ...but made

Yelp
Small museum in the older part of Victorville. Good place to spend a little time looking at everything. This place is chock full of interesting historical information. This is a good stop in conjunction with other museum visits in the area.

Yelp
After finally making a trip to Victorville. I made it to this hidden jem The Route 66 Museum! Your greeted by knowledgeable dedicated volunteers. It was like walking back in simple time in America the 50's and 60's!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
I took a hard pass on the LA traffic and began my route 66 road trip right here. I really enjoyed the museum, The people there are very friendly, it's not crowded, and they give a good tour. Lou was an especially fine guide with lots of local lore. .
google avatar

Yelp
Get Your Kicks Small museum/roadside attraction dedicated to historic Route 66, and specifically this particular area of Victorville. The Good: *Free admission but they ask you make a minimal $2/per donation *It's actually located on Route 66 (aka National Trails Hwy)!! *The gentleman who greeted us and gave us a quickie 10¢ tour was very friendly and full of good info. *Great gift shop full of all kinds of Route 66 memorabilia. *Tons of stuff to check out including old historical photographs. The Meh: *Some of the stuff seemed very random and just filling up space. I'm sure there's a story behind it somewhere but it just wasn't evident. The Ugly: *Neighborhood it's located in seems a bit rough... Lock your doors, kidz. TLDR: Great spot to check out if you're passing thru town and esp if you like quirky little museums.

Norman G.

Yelp
Nice place to visit lots of history about Route 66 .I just wish that the city will rebuilt the old town Victorville seems a lot of potential for visitors and restaurant around the museum.
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
Fun place with so much to look at. Old cars, diner set up, old photos and a cute gift shop! The volunteers were wonderful.
google avatar

Pam A.

Yelp
Small museum dedicated to US Highway 66 in Victorville. If you're looking for a pit stop driving to/from Vegas, it's worth checking out especially since it's free. My favorite part was the random wall displaying different currencies from all over the world (donations from tourists).
google avatar

Serg L.

Yelp
It's small and cozy. Nice people and a nice piece of history. Enjoy the artifacts they had from years ago. I hope they get a California road 66 magnet.
google avatar

Jason V.

Yelp
Great Mother Road/Route 66 Museum, as was the one in Barstow. I was lucky to go to both of them on a Friday, as they were both open only three days a week. Plus, they were both free, though they encourage donations. The volunteer workers were very helpful and friendly, as they were personable with everyone. They'll even take your picture inside the VW and the Ford Model T! Cool memorabilia from different time periods all over, and there is a viewing room where you can watch a short documentary on Route 66. There is even a small section on the city of Victorville. Great gift shop, too. Be sure to check the hours and days before coming here. Recommended!
google avatar

Raquel A.

Yelp
Friendly staff but I wouldn't come back lol. Just needed some postcards while I was driving thru. Not really much to see here tbh.
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
A very small museum but if you're in the area you should stop by and check it out (there's no admission fee but please consider donating and buying some souvenir). Staff here was friendly (I think most are volunteers) and they have a Model T you can sit and take a picture. Walking through here, you do see some history (they even have a Motorola phone from the early 90's) including telephone switch board, washing machine and fridge. They have some cool souvenir and reasonably priced. Hours of operations vary so do call ahead.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Recently opened back up for visitors due to Covid19 restrictions opening up to California. Admission is free and they do have friendly docents to answer questions and even take your pictures so you don't have to do selfies. Lots of cool items and things to look at and read up on and to get history on the "Mother Road". Of course they have souvenirs and drinks and snacks and it is air conditioned. Yay! Pick up a Route 66 Passport for $10 at the register and get it stamped at this location and other locations along the historic route for discounts and even some freebies.

Yelp
I love this Place, a picture perfect place to have your family experience and able to touch and learn the history. I am so Glad the fellow filipino is affiliated with this Museum.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome little museum with lots to see and take photos of. Definitely worth the short stop. If you have the chance to meet the tall, dark, Air Force veteran man, take the time to listen to his funny stories and incredible knowledge.

Yelp
We were visiting Victorville from Los Angeles on 1/4/2019 and decided to yelp things to do in the area and came across this little gem. I highly recommend everyone visiting to definitely stop by and see this Museum. The Museum has a small parking lot that fits about 6 cars but it wasn't busy at all and there was plenty of parking upon our arrival. The second we entered the museum, I was really impressed with all the Route 66 and all the collectibles. The museum is fairly small but with lots to see. It doesn't cost anything to go into the museum but I would definetely buy something from their little souvenir shop that they have inside. The best thing about the museum was you get to take some really cool pictures and take the memories with you. The staff were very friendly and were there to answer any questions that you might have. The second we walked in, we were greeted and informed on how the museum works and to go ahead and take pictures inside the car that's there as well as they had some funny props to take with the picture. I'm so happy that we went out of our way to see the museum because it was definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
loved , loved this place ! staff there are very welcoming and very nice . if you are in town you definitely need to check this place out SO MUCH HISTORY to see .
google avatar

Yelp
Very disappointing we were in the area on Tuesday and Wednesday and unfortunately they're closed
google avatar

Craig H.

Yelp
I cannot begin to describe how lovely yet professional this museum is, both in its operation and display. You will not walk out of this museum without knowing a good bit more knowledge of this famous route, these folks/docents/friends guarantee that. So very interesting and I would recommend it to anybody who likes to study 'Murika! LOL Seriously though, it was an intense learning experience filled with pride of The Mother Road! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ruby R.

Yelp
We took a mini road trip to the Crackle Barrel, can't beat that bread. Anyway, decided to check out this Route 66 museum. It fell nothing short of amazing. You're able to interact with displays (not all of them) and get to learn the history behind the historic road. One employee in particular deserves an award for the way he talked about the art and displays in the museum. Lou, you made it an extra special experience, the way you brought life to the pictures on the walls was great! Somebody give this guy a raise!

Doris D.

Yelp
We visited the museum yesterday and we had a great time. Mr. Lou was a wonderful teacher, very personable, He knows so much about history and overall such a great experience . The lady at the counter was very nice too. I definitely recommend visiting the California Route 66 Museum in Victorville. Let's keep history alive, please visit and enjoy the history and the people at the museum. Thank You.
google avatar

Yelp
Words can not describe the experience at this location. It is a MUST SEE on the way to or from LA or Las Vegas... I was suppose to be in and out in half an hour but ended up spending above 2 and half hour. The entire tour of the place is free. There are local volunteer to take you around and describe the entire history one piece at a time. Lot of the items were acquired through donations. The place is divided into 3 areas and a gift shop but the highlights were an old refurbish jukebox, old diner booth area, a classic vehicle and front of scooby doo van. Make sure to take a picture in the old school toilet! Please donate something as the entire place runs on donation and the staff taking everyone around is a volunteer. The gift shop is quite fascinating and interesting, so make sure you check it out. They also have a nice board where people have been leaving their countries currency, so if you country's coin or note is not their make sure to stick it up. I highly recommend a stop over to this awesome place!

Yelp
A charming little museum. Lots of info about local sights and the growth of the area and impact of Route 66. Helpful docents. Interesting artifacts. Took about an hour to go through.

Yelp
Husband and I took a day trip out on Route 66 not knowing where to go or what to do. Used yelp to find something to stop at, this place popped up and so we dropped in. I must say this was a small gem! Everyone here was the best and the sweetest! I have to shout out LOU, he had so much info and so many amazing stories!!! I wish he could be my tour guide on route66! Stop in say hi and get a ton of info! Will for sure be back to show the kids!!! Thanks guys!
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim while driving by. The volunteers hovered a bit too much for my taste, as I would have preferred to browse in peace, but my kids loved the attention.
google avatar

Valerie M.

Yelp
We always look for unique places to stop and see while traveling and I am so glad we took the time to stop here. It is simply amazing. Lots of photo op setups, so much history, and amazing helpful staff. It was actually a highlight of our trip. Will definitely stop by again if we ever see ourselves in Victorville again!
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
So fun to do on the way to the bottle ranch! They are super welcoming:) and it's is free! there are so many cool things to see and there is also a lot of very cool antique shops around it to go and see! Lots of fun would recommend for any age group.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
Fun place. Free entry. NASA mini museum and railroad museum. Nice old gift shop. Easy to find from the road. Friendly employees.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
This place is dope, as the kids say today. Love it here! Essential stop for any Route 66 aficionado or someone interested in the not-so-distant past. It's on 66 in what they call "Downtown Victorville." The museum is free to come in. The staff are very nice and welcoming and will talk your ear off and answer questions. It's loaded with donations, right down to an old diner booth, a vehicle, and history of the road all over the country as well as locally in Victorville. There are 3 rooms and plenty see. This is highly worth an hour of your time at least. Check out the gift shop. Maybe donate a little (it is free, after all, to come in). Lots of fun. I love that this exists. It's my second time in and I'll be back. The counter guy also said I should try Emma Jean's Holland Burger, which dates back to the days of Route 66 and is currently staffed by the 5th generation of family at that location. How cool is that?
google avatar

Ana K.

Yelp
I'm into going to museums and going on road trips or sight seeing wherever with my family. Went here a few times with my family and we enjoyed going. Friendly volunteers that answered all of my dad's questions. Neat things to see and look at. Photo opportunities as well.

C. A.

Yelp
The museum in Victorville is comparable to the Route 66 museums in Oklahoma. They have a large variety of displays and the docents will talk history with you if you choose to do so. Be sure to get a copy of the hand-out that is next to the donation jar, it lists all the landmarks between Victorville and Barstow.
google avatar

Hershal B.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to visit the museum. We intended likely half an hour, but the folks were friendly and we both love history, so we were there over two hours. There are three rooms basically, the first room being the largest. The third room is the smallest and dedicated to Victorville specifically, and highly informative. We spent a lot of time talking with the staff and learning some of the personal insights, plus walking around showed more. The outhouse and hula girl both have unique bits of history, as does the switchboard in room 2. There is also a section in room 1 dedicated to the history of the former George AFB, which was here in Victorville. Donations are how they keep going, so please do donate. Also, we bought souvenirs. We encourage everyone to visit, as it is only 5 minutes off the I-15.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
This Place was AWESOME! It is totally "kitschy". If you like the "World's Biggest Ball of Twine" or "Cadillac Ranch", "Gator Wresting" or "Flintstone's Bedrock City" You'll LOVE this place. Driving from Vegas to So Cal decided to stop in here and get a "Route 66" Sticker as a souvenir and found SOOO Much more. Arrived 5 minutes after closing but the staff unlocked the door to let me in and get my sticker then found an AWESOME Route 66 Bowling shirt that I bought. (Because they were closed, I tried to keep my visit short so the staff could go home.) Wish I had more time to spend there. The people working there are mostly volunteers and very helpful and anxious to share local folklore...Including that the Disney Imagineers drove the route and used the rocks just south of the museum as inspiration for "Radiator Springs" for the Pixar "Cars" series of movies.
google avatar

D B.

Yelp
Very friendly knowledgeable volunteers and great history about the surrounding areas. It was much larger than I thought, plenty of neat things to look at. Bring some cash for donation and buy yourself some memorabilia from the gift shop. It's what keeps them going!
google avatar

Roxy G.

Yelp
I would love this place if it wasn't for the manager she's not a very nice woman! But if you're a tourist it's a good place to stop and see Route 66 memorabilia.
google avatar

Aur R.

Yelp
Great place to connect w/our past American history. The friendliest staff & very knowledgeable. We got there right before they closed but they didn't hurry us out the door. I plan on going back again next time I'm out on the west coast.
google avatar

Inspector B.

Yelp
Hello everybody this is business C here writing yet another fair and honest review for all of you. Now without further ado first off when Pulled up into the drive way of this so called museum. The Manager or owner who ever the hell he was winked at me well grabbing his behind and putting his finger near his nose. I was disgusted and very uncomfortable already at this point so much was flying through my head I couldn't believe what I just seen. Second I stepped off my vehicle and he tried shaking my hand with his hand that he picked his butt with I didn't shake hands with him after what I just seen I just kindly said hi to him. Third I stepped inside expecting to see an actual museum and guess what that's rite it really wasn't a museum this person just had naughty pictures on one side of the wall with two gay men kissing and lesbians making out as well. Along with a couple of Route 66 signs and water barrels the dude actually put his hand on one of the pictures of a naked man near the balls section and acted like he was pitching at them. I just decided to run out and get to my car as fast as possible which I did and I must say I am never ever coming back here again and I would advise all of you reading this to not come here unless you like dirty shit then fine but if not don't show up here.

Hope T.

Yelp
My husband, daughter and I visited this museum on 1/27/19 and we really enjoyed it. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and nice and there was so much information we will definitely have to come back.

Charlie C.

Yelp
A high-desert community between San Bernardino and Barstow, Victorville is definitely lacking with respect to culture. However, if you are passing through this town on your way to or from Vegas and you want a treat, pull off D Street, travel about a mile east and go to the old town Victorville to see this museum. BTW, a mile west of the 15 freeway on D Street is a small old diner called Emma Jeans. Check it out. This museum is an absolutely awesome place to revisit the golden days of Route 66, specifically through Victorville. Yes, Victorville is a city rich in history. The old town area isn't is great shape, but I have seen a slight resurgence from many years ago and it is slowly making it's way back, which is what many other cities along Route 66 in this country have done. This place has a lot of items to look at from the past and some great items to purchase. I spoke to the wonderful folks who worked there and we talked about a lot of the places along Route 66, as I was returning from a trip specifically to visit the Mother Road, including the founding city of Route 66, Seligman, AZ. Make sure you go to the east side of the building and take some pictures of the mural on the building. Very nice. Spend some money in this place and keep the memories alive. And don't forget to donate some in the jar, they appreciate it. Besides, the museum is free.

Gail C.

Yelp
A fun trip to see Americana & the way it was in the 50's & 60's. What fun autos, travel, kitchen & living 'necessities' of the time and a tribute to local celebrities Roy Roger & Dale Evans. Yes; do go if you like 'off the beaten path' history museums.
google avatar

Don T.

Yelp
This is a small museum so it won't take much of your time. But if you are interested in high desert or Route 66 history, this place is for you!

Shelly H.

Yelp
We happened upon this place on our way through Victorville. It turns out there were three events happening simultaneously right around the museum that day which added a lot of energy to our experience! The museum itself it was very interesting, filled with many artifacts and offering interactive experiences. The volunteers working there were friendly and informative and seemed truly excited to share their knowledge about the history of Route 66. It also operates on a donation basis. It's so wonderful to get something for free nowadays! There is also a little gift shop on site where we grabbed a couple of cute Route 66 mugs. Oh and I can't forget that the bathrooms were wonderfully welcoming and clean! You can never overstate the importance of this when you been traveling all day and using gas station bathroom!!
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
Great place to stop and see the history of the famous Route 66 and town of Victorville. Felipe our Docent on Sunday was friendly and very informative of all the memorabilia throughout the museum. It's free!!! Donations are welcome and the gift shop has inexpensive things you can buy to get as mementos and help out the museum. So worth the time to stop by and travel back in time.

Yelp
This is a nice break while driving through the high desert. You can't beat the price - it's FREE. Staffed by friendly volunteers (mostly retirees) who are more than happy to explain this stretch of old Route 66 to any person that walks in. Do visit the informal gift shop in the front corner of the building and help support this historical window on the past.
