"Produces all the crusty baguettes and other baked goods for Cam Huong restaurants. Will remain open and serve banh mi and other offerings, but can't prepare the whole menu due to a small kitchen." - Janelle Bitker

Delicious banh mi xa xiu for $9 with tax

This is my go-to place to get Vietnamese sandwiches in Oakland Chinatown. Besides Banh Mi sandwiches, it offers packaged small French breads, Asian baked goods, snacks, big muffins, and drinks and Vietnamese desserts in the fridge. Although there are a couple of tables inside, people usually come here for takeouts. I ordered my favorite, grilled pork sandwich with extra meat, which had a good amount of fillings and the bread was toasted and crunchy on the outside.

So cheap and tasty! Seriously, it’s like $3.50 for a whole sammie. Makes me want to crammie them in my pajammies and do a double whammy. Get two and you’ll be full of bread and meat happiness. The baked goods were a bit dry though, so stick with the freshly made sandwiches if you can resist!

Selling stale bread at a bakery is unethical. What's worse is they literally put this bread on baking sheets in a rack to make it appear fresh. Look how hard and stale it is in the video. Only $1.50 but I'm sorry, it should be labeled "day old".

Good banh mi. Not too much mayo or grease. Bread is nicely toasted. Pickled carrots and cucumbers in the sandwich.

This unassuming place has the best banh mi I’ve found in downtown Oakland. $8 after tax. Get the Banh Mi Dac Biet.

A star for the banh mi, taste so so, kinda rough and the flavor is not great at all. Had a hotdog bun, tasted weird and kinda hard. I also had a bbq pork bun, I couldn’t finish it, it was bitter and very sour tasting. Such a strange taste profile, maybe I’m unfamiliar with it. I wouldn’t go back, stomach feels a bit unsettled as I’m typing this up. Just go to other viet cafes nearby. I’m not a picky eater and this is comin from an Asian, I’m pretty familiar with some authentic flavors. just avoid this place, maybe if you go there get the Costco muffins they’re selling. Idk man, not for me though. $7 for banh mi. $.50 more than other places. Also, the lady made my food while she was eating on break, no gloves, didn’t wash hands, I’m out of my mind for even eating there. I just didn’t want to be mean to that older couple, I just wanted to support small businesses, sadly they probably won’t even read this review. Anyway, go elsewhere for banh mi and bakeries!

Got a bag of banh nuoc tro, got them home only to find they were moldy. They must have been sitting on the counter for weeks! The banh mi is fine but it's like $7 now, so don't come here expecting a deal.
