13 Essential New Haven Restaurants

"Westville is one of New Haven’s quietest suburban neighborhoods, but chef Arturo Franco-Camacho — also known for City Point waterfront favorite Shell and Bones — has turned a former gas station into a daily destination for contemporary Mexican street food and nightlife, proving there’s an appetite for more action in the area. Take a seat at the emerald-tiled center bar or sit on the large, semi-enclosed terrace for a view of the Central Patio, a section of street reclaimed from cars to make room for arts markets and free dance classes from neighboring Alisa’s House of Salsa. Alisa Bowens-Mercado, who owns the dance studio, is also Connecticut’s first Black woman brewery owner; pair her refreshing Rhythm Brewing lager or a pisco sour with Franco-Camacho’s braised lamb barbacoa flautas or some quesadillas featuring wild mushrooms and huitlacoche." - Stasia Brewczynski

If you are looking for the best Mexican food in CT, this is definitely the place to go. They use fresh organic food and make their own tortillas, ice cream, and more. I like that they have things on the menu that offer new experiences for most, like banana ice cream, which I would highly recommend! Great atmosphere and service as well! I only took pictures of our desserts, I didn’t think of it sooner, but the presentation of all our food and drinks was very nice.

This place isn't far from where I am staying, so I've frequented here a few times. The quality of ingredients is top notch, and their drink selections are both wide and strong. My go-to is the octupus and shrimp ceviche - fresh, acidic, and flavorful. Octupus and chorizo tacos are another one of my favorites. As a side, I'd reach for the street corn off the cob every time. Two issues I've had are when it comes to choozing tacos and cost. You can mix and match the basic tacos, but when it comes to the special tacos, you get two and can not mix and match. Then the cost is something to consider. It was almost enough to give this place 4 stars, but the quality won out.

Took our son for birthday dinner and drinks. Had a great corner table with fresh air since the walls are open. Louder industrial style place, but it works. Good food and drinks. Service was great for how busy it was. Parking is getting lucky with street parking. Price was a bit high in my opinion, but we would go again.

Google
Awesome restaurant. Their menu has great choices across the board and I noticed much of their menu can be made vegetarian. The service was great as well. Fun interior design too!

Delicious food/drinks and great service. The atmosphere was definitely vibing. Street corn was different yet good

Google
It was fine, but too expensive. Our server Carlos was fantastic, and the ambiance was great. The drinks were delicious, but about $5 overpriced each. The food tasted pretty good, but the portions should have been bigger for the price. It was disappointing after wanting to try this place for a while.

Google
An off the beaten path hidden gem of New Haven! The drinks, the FOOD, the cool layout, the chill vibe, it's really a great spot. Great outdoor seating options while still being covered with the way the garage doors open. Went here twice, once for lunch with my wife and then three year old, and again for a late night dinner after a concert with my wife and had a great time big times. Very family friendly but also a great bar vibe, the place is huge so it worked out great.

This review is as honest as reviews can get. The food was DISGUSTING. I gagged whilst trying to force feed myself the enchiladas that tasted absolutely awful. For my elongated stay there the waiter completely vanished as I sat waiting for the bill, with my appetite completely gone because of how gross everything was. The guacamole was bland, and had no flavor. The chips were stale. This place definitely cares more about presentation than the actual quality and service they have to offer. Once I got the bill after 30 minutes I was met with the utter HORROR of what it contained. 18 dollars for GUACAMOLE. Guacamole that wasn’t even good. You can buy guacamole for half the price at a grocery store and get better quality. I’m so upset about this guacamole specifically because the waiter offered it to me and my sister after we gave back the menu. I didn’t even want the guacamole but after the waiter kept asking if we wanted any I felt obligated to say yes. Had I known the price of a small bowl of guacamole with comically large chips I would not have ever considered saying yes. In what world is it okay to not disclose the price of a side when offering it to customers? I felt taken advantage of. When my sister and I said “we weren’t made aware of the price of the guacamole, is this a mistake?” The waiter scoffed and replied “That’s just our price.” How hard is it to mention the price of chips and guacamole when offering it to customers?? This is unacceptable. The guacamole itself was pricier than the other food I purchased, which I find ridiculous. I’ve never written a review for a restaurant before, mainly because I’ve never had such a bad experience. The only good service I experienced was the young woman at the front doors. Writing this now I still feel nauseous, the few bites I could get down haven’t sat right at all. I will not be coming back.

Yelp
Came for lunch and had a really good meal. The guacamole was very good (I liked the pepitas and that it was a bit spicy) and the torta was massive and tasty. I liked the addition of the egg and felt the sandwich was a good value for the price, I would have just liked a bit more carnitas on it. The service was friendly and they allow dogs on the outdoor patio. The tables were spaced a good distance apart so you didn't feel you were on top of the other guests. Overall a nice spot for lunch.

Yelp
Camacho Garage. It is truly a fun and enjoyable place to spend your end of week, listening to great music, savoring a glass of spicy margarita, and indulging in delicious Mexican cuisine. We decided to try the family taco meal, and to our surprise, it turned out to be incredibly generous and could easily feed a family of four. The fish tacos were amazing, and even though I don't consume meat, I was informed that the chicken was also delicious and divine. If I may make a recommendation, do not hesitate to ask for extra pickled red onions as they complement the dishes perfectly. Our waiter, Carlos, provided exceptional service, and he made sure to check on us frequently throughout our meal. Overall, my time at Camacho Garage was delightful, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a lively atmosphere and scrumptious Mexican food.

Yelp
The ambiance and servers were great. We had a party of 12 and everyone raved about the food. My friend and I got the family style tacos and we unfortunately were the only ones dissatisfied with our meal. We got the chicken and pastor tacos. The chicken was dry and the el pastor did not have pineapple. The server just brought us a small dish of pineapples to resolve the issue. Overall had a great time, but wish we enjoyed our meal as much as everyone else!

Yelp
Long standing Camacho fan. Always enjoy the people, ambiance is always on point. Last dining experience was not so great. Ordered the birria tacos, chicken quesadilla and the queso fundido. The queso was delicious, hot, flavorful and well Prepared. The chicken in the quesadilla was dry, cold and hard to eat. My birria had a warm taco and cold meat. Margarita was delicious. Moving forward this will be more of a happy hour spot for me and no longer for dinner and special occasions.

Yelp
Food and drinks are always superb! Ash behind the bar is perfection and super nice and fun!

Yelp
It's a yes for me. Four stars. Love the decor. Bartenders were friendly and talkative. The food was delicious. Portions are modest, not big. Everything very vibrant. All the elements of a new favorite place!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, good tacos, and a great price! We had about 20 people with 2 tables of 10. Our group flew in for a local event and met here for lunch. People from Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, New York, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The employees at the restaurant were friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a fun experience!

Yelp
My friend and I enjoyed dinner here tonight. The service was good and the food also! The decor of this place is super unique and creative. The time and day we went wasn't busy which was nice. Happy hour deals are great. $6 for sangria! I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Waisting away again in Margaritaville...This little paradise in Westville, brings you back to a little cantina in Mexico. It is a former automotive garage, that has been transformed into a Mexican cantina. The food is fresh a delicious. Our party started with their street corn, roasted vegetables, chips and Guacamole. All of it was delicious. All of us had assorted tacos and all of them were enjoyed. The menu is full of specialty drinks. You need to know that this restaurant specializes in small plates. So you are better off ordering a bunch for the table.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill big time over the years with the food. Came last weekend and got the Birria tacos and they were literally dripping in grease. Had in the past and they were pretty decent. Also, $18 for two tacos?!! Insane. Prices are crazy here. My margarita was $17. My friend got the chicken tacos and the chicken was dry. Bland too. Step it up Camacho. Wouldn't come back for food. Maybe a drink.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a great date night meal here. The lack of 5th star was for the cost-benefit ratio lol. Highhhhh prices for tiny portions, in the name of "tapas". Oh well. Everything was thoughtful and tasty though, even on a busy Saturday night.
google avatar

Lexi S.

Yelp
This place has such an incredibly cool vibe. This is a renovated vintage repair garage that recently opened within the past new years in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. My favorites are the birria tacos, the guac, and their spicy margs. It does get very busy here on weekends, and it's definitely a hot spot in the summer.
google avatar

Angel B.

Yelp
I really liked the vibe of Camacho's Garage. The bar area is large. The dining area (which was enclosed but I imagine gets opened up in warm weather) was spacious. The service was attentive from the moment I walked in until we left. The food was outstanding. I had a chicken tostada and birria tamales and they were delicious. Definitely worth a return visit!
google avatar

Yelp
There are some places which make the presentation fancy but fail in taste. But this is one of those places which can do presentation and the taste both win! This place does amazing mexican flavours and gives vegetarian options which is the greatest part according to me. They can do wonders in their desserts as well. The pictures here don't do enough justice. The tacos, tostadas, quesadillas were lip smackingly delicious. We will surely return and recommend to all. Enjoy the amazing food, service and ambiance - all in one! Great job to the team who makes it possible.

Yelp
Came here after a long day of moving & unpacking. I got the regular margarita and it was amazing, fresh ingredients and refreshing. My parents got some assortment of tacos and I got the pork belly tacos. Everything was very good, our waitress could have been a little more attentive but overall a good experience!

Yelp
Great spot in New Haven for drinks, a quick bite, and happy hour. We tried the table side guacamole, which was amazing. Also really enjoyed the ancho curly fries and the tinga tostada off their happy hour menu. The sangria was delicious, as well as the ceviche. It was a slower weekday afternoon when we arrived, and the bar tender took care of us at our table. Modern and updated interior and decor.

Yelp
4.75 rating & primarily because the parking was on the street (parking lot has only 6 spots including the handicapped ) & the menu was so limited, but the food was execllent. The decor is cool and cohesive, and the atmosphere is good. I sat at the bar at 10:30pm. The bartenders acknowledged me, but took a good 15 minutes to come back to me & there were only 3 other couples sitting at the bar. I tasted 2 different beers, the Amacho Garage Door (lager) a little disappointing & the Pacifico Clara (pilsner) which was sweet, but I opted for Dos xx Amber. You can have your beer in 6, 12, 18oz or pitcher size. I ordered the taco special, where you get your choice of two . I tried the Enselada Fish & the Carnitas, which the runner brought out so fast. I am a pork gal, but that fish was off the chain!! it was really good! It was served on a corn tortilla which usually break a d fall apart, but these did not. The flavor was spot on & the gold ingredients were cold & the hot was hot. The fish was a perfect mix of crispy & creamy. The lime provided the acidity, (and it wasnt just a dry unsqueezable garnish, it was an actual slice of juicy lime!) but the only thing that could have made it better would be a few diced jalapeños.

Yelp
Not sure what's happened to this place but it's really gone downhill. My friend and I sat at the bar recently. She ordered a spicy mango margarita and said it wasn't very spicy at all and wayyyy too sweet. For dinner we had the guac which is A+++ and opted for the BYO tacos with chicken, fish l, veggies and rice. The rice was incredible (some of the best I ever have had) but everything else was bland and lacked any type of flavor. Bummer, not sure we will be back anytime soon.

Yelp
Date night in New Haven and it was a quick walk from our air BNB .. when you find someone who loves Birria tacos as much as you. It must be true love lol ok enough of that... We both ordered Birria Tacos and street corn.. he opted for it to be on the cob and I did it in a dish. The Birria Tacos were just amazing. Flavorful with dipping sauce. Corn was delicious as well

Yelp
Met up with some friends the other night and discovered this delicious restaurant about a 10 minute drive from Downtown New Haven. If you're in the area and craving good Mexican food this Camacho will not disappoint! For starters, the ambience here is fun and lively making it a solid choice for weekend dinner plans or happy hour. The menu isn't extremely expansive (I was shocked to discover they don't have burritos) but this place has a lot of the staples you would hope for. I tried the Birria tacos and friend sweet plantains. The plantains were decently portioned, soft, sweet, and fried to perfection. The tacos were also tasty but I thought the Birria cause could've used more flavor. Solid dinner experience all around!

Yelp
Went to Camacho Garage on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and appetizers. I'm not sure if the bartender, I don't think she ever gave us her name, was having an off day, but we ordered the same drink and it tasted and looked different each time. We also ordered the guacamole. We thought it was made tableside, but it was brought out and had radish and pepitas in it. It took too much effort to try and pick them out so we left the majority of it, which is a first for us for guacamole. The place is cute and the garage concept carries throughout, but I think it is trying to be too much. All quite pricey for what it is. It could really be a great place if they simplified the menu.

Yelp
Best Mexican meal I have had in CT. Camacho really knocked it out of the park. The wife and I decided to give Camacho a try for date night. Started with the table side guacamole. Very good with a great presentation and many add-on's available. From there we ordered the posole verde, pollo ancho taco's and a Mercado salad. The taco's were outstanding, wish I had ordered more than two. Wife's posole was also very good. The spicy salsa that came with it was over the top as was the frioles tostada. My salad was very enjoyable. Great vinaigrette and light. Finished off with the churros. Again, home run. Our server was outstanding. Place was packed and yet she spent time with us and made sure our needs were met. My new go to Mexican joint in CT. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Food was great. Service was not so good. We waited 20 minutes before a server even came by to acknowledge us. Restaurant was maybe at 80% capacity. Server hardly came by during the meal to check on us. Birria taco was fantastic. Everything else was great but birria stood out for us. Not sure if we would be back because of our experience with the services

Yelp
Finally made it to Camacho... so many recommendations and obsessive lurking on their IG page.. I was excited to go. I thought it was great overall and would return. The ambiance was fun.. love the indoor/outdoor seating. Felt like we were somewhere tropical or reminded me of Austin, TX vibes. What was good: the tacos and street corn and tres leches were all superb! Could be better: drinks and tamales. I always like a hood drink experience.. you know "wow" me with your specialities and they were good but I've had better. The tamale fillings aka shrimp and chicken mole were good but the tamales themselves were bland and somewhat gelatinous.. didn't taste fresh. Disappointed but maybe we'll try something different next time .

Yelp
I really enjoy the food and the atmosphere at Camacho Garage. The Fish Tacos and the Cucumber Margarita are a good lunch. My experience with the Bartenders is in complete contradiction. One visit the Bartender is welcoming, and next is hostile and dismissive. My advice- sit at a table
google avatar

Andres A.

Yelp
We stopped in at the suggestion of our friend and we absolutely enjoyed our experience. We started with an order of fresh guacamole and chips. The guacamole was made table side. It was so fresh and ready. I had an order of the Arabe which was excellent. Two tacos made with a very smoky type of carne asada. My girlfriend had the chilaquiles which she absolutely loved. The decor was really nice and the service was really good. We definitely loved this place and will be back for other items.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday evening. We sat at the bar and still got great service drinks. Here are amazing if you drink the chile relleno was so good so was the lamb and fish tacos seasoned perfectly the vibe is always nice in there.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Been here quite a few times and it's very very good. Each plate has special attention payed to it and it shows. Great Happy Hour specials also with margaritas, beer, and wine specials as well as several food options. The inside is very cool with gas station decor all over. My only negative would be they seemed a bit short staffed behind the bar for a Friday night. Service was slow but once you got your order in things came quickly.
google avatar

Sarah N.

Yelp
I only came here because I was hungry and wanted to eat something within walking distance of Edgewood. You can tell by the vibes it's a less authentic Mexican restaurant with food on the pricier side. The decor was cool and I liked how the restaurant was very open since the weather was nice. The glasses on our table were dirty, though the server was kind enough to bring us new ones. The takeout box I was given was also falling apart and I had to ask someone for tape when I was walking around in the area and all of the food almost spilled out of the bag so it seems like there are some quality control issues here? I was also disappointed at the fact horchata isn't served here especially since it was listed on the menus displayed outside the restaurant. The waitress didn't even know what horchata was, which was super surprising given how common this drink is at Mexican restaurants. I got a Hibiscus Agua Fresca instead, and it honestly just tasted like lemonade I would make at home. I got a family-style meal of Carnitas to share with my friends and I'm glad I did. The food was pretty good, though it wasn't the best I've had. However, the portion size was massive. At $54, this could've easily fed 5-6 people because me and my two friends had so much left over and we were starving when we arrived! That being said, I thought this was a great value, but I don't think I'd be willing to pay for a single serving size of food when there are better places with cheaper pricing around.

Yelp
I liked the interior design a lot: great seating throughout plus a bar that has hooks underneath for handbags... we chose to sit at the bar. Nice! Our Bartender/Server was Peter. He had a great personality & was helpful with our choices: drinks, tacos and dessert. We had 2 tacos each. Mine: beef and pork. Friend: Beef and fish. And a side of sweet plaintains. I had a coconut Margarita. Friend had a traditional one and we shared a dessert: Mexican Creme Brulee. Everything was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was typical Mexican food but Not seasoned very well. Kind of bland in taste. The drinks are where its at!!! Drinks were very good with plenty of flavor. The waiter was not very attentive to us. We were not offered a happy hour menu or even told there was happy hour. We had to request one when we asked. We asked for certain things on our tacos such as sour cream and the waiter never told us those sauses cost 3$ each. Tik Tok is a lie. This is not one of the best spots in new haven! The decor of the place and outdoor indoor setup was nice. Over all I give it a 5/10. Its def average or below. I would have rathered chilis lol.
google avatar

Yelp
How has it taken me so long to visit Camacho Grill when I live in walking distance? I decided to treat my best friend to a birthday lunch, and this was midway between the both of our homes. It's so happens that we arrived during happy hour, bonus! Their happy hour options are limited, but I was able to try both the white and red sangria. I believe they contain two types of rum with wine along with a wedge of lemon and orange. Definitely good. I ordered the red sangria second and opted for no ice and I preferred it that way. They also have curly fries on the menu , which were good. For my entrée, I decided to get the wild mushroom tacos with a side of rice and beans. It took a little time for the main entrée to arrive but the rice and beans were hot- as if freshly made. My best friend got the Mexican hot dog off of the happy hour menu and she said that it was really good. As we were dining and chatting, we observed their hours and realized that they are open pretty late on the weekends so we plan on visiting to just check out the bar scene over the course of the summer. Great ambience, a very welcoming staff. Small parking lot but ample street parking. The food was good, but I wish they would expand their menu a little bit. Maybe frozen fruit margaritas and a nacho option would be fabulous. Otherwise, definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Slightly underwhelming but excellent atmosphere and love that there's an outdoor section (with seating)

Yelp
This is definitely a spot to hang with your friends to get drinks and apps at the bar. We came here because we were in the area. loved the vintage garage feel and it's spacious. We ordered table side guacamole and paid the extra $4.00 for the chips. I don't think the extra $4 for 5 chips are worth the price tag. The guacamole was delicious and loved the extra like it had. The guacamole is not made by your table. My husband and I share the quesadilla, tacos and a side ordered of the sweet plantains. The quesadilla is $18 and I paid the $8.00 for chicken. The quesadilla was very filling and had good flavor. I ordered the quesadilla because I love quesadilla despite the price I paid but even thought it was good I don't think it's worth the price. The tacos ordered were chicken, Al pastor, carnitas. Overall, the tacos were dry and lacked the juiciness it needed. I loved that they were served on fresh corn tortillas. The plantains were good and we opted to keep the cheese on the side. I'm glad we did since it would of ruined what I feel is already good alone. The cheese was salty and not needed. Since I wasn't over the moon about my meal we skipped on dessert.

Yelp
Got the tableside guac not made at the table side and was overpriced and not good chips were weirdly shaped and hard to eat, good atmosphere but the food was small and not that good

Yelp
We had a reservation for 3 on a Friday evening. We got there early but they are popular! We didn't get seated until maybe 10 minutes after our reservation. In the mean time we had some drinks which were good. The place has an inside and an outside. The decor is awesome and there's loud music playing. After getting seated, we ordered some appetizers. The queso was amazing! Probably my favourite thing we ate. The fries we got were good too. We got the Al pastor tacos, lamb flautas, and the Mexican street corn. The corn was pretty good, nothing to call home about. The flautas were also great. The Al Pastor tacos were very disappointing- super try and tough. I didn't finish it. Unfortunately, I have to take a few stars off due to the service. After we got our dishes, we didn't see our server again until she brought the check, which took about an hour to get and asking 3 times for it. It was really frustrating to be sort of ignored for an hour. I'm hoping that was a one time thing so perhaps I'll visit again.

Yelp
Waitress, holding a water pitcher, asked us if we want sparkling or still water. We said "still, please." She gathered our empty glasses and walked away with the water pitcher. What just happened?!?! Waiter showed up with a bottle of "still" mineral water and new glasses (same size and style that was previously whisked away.) the water was imported from Mexico!! $9.00!! We should have asked for a switch to good old CT water but were too shy and shocked to speak up.

Yelp
Great crew and service , music is cool, not loud and nice atmosphere , food is just great , great flavors , top rate . Highly recommend this place !

Yelp
Had my bridal shower here - everything was absolutely perfect! James was super helpful and responsive throughout the entire booking and planning process. The staff during the event were wonderful and the food was amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better event!

Yelp
I'm not sure why but food always taste better at restaurants when it is personalized. It was wonderful to see and chat with our friend and favorite chef Arturo Franco-Camacho at Camacho's Garage today. For over 20 years Arturo provides a cutting edge dining experience and in our opinion is one of the best chefs in the entire state. We especially miss his older restaurants Roomba, Bespoke, and Suburban in New Haven and Branford. However, we also currently enjoy both Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill and Shell and Bones Oyster Bar in New Haven. We wanted a quick light bite this afternoon and after all were in the Westville area. Camacho garage was on our radar. Camacho Garage did not disappoint. The flavors and combinations were phenomenal. We had the VEGETARIANO with Wild Mushrooms, Nopales, Corn, Caramelized Onions, Spinach, Cotija, Salsa Verde, Crema, and the small plate quesadilla with a side order of sweet plantains. Everything was just the right size and delicious. Gracias Arturo!

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite restaurants! Everything is cooked to perfection and their queso is to die for. It comes out steaming filled with onions, peppers, and mushrooms and paired with flour tortillas to start the meal out in a flavorful, cheesy way (which is the the best way if you ask me). I wish I got a picture of the cheese pull because it was INSANE but I was too mesmerized by the food to even think. Their birria tacos are also a great plate to order - the meat is delicious and it is packed with flavor. The ancho curly fries are another staple. If you're a fan of curly fries and chipotle mayo you'll love it! The interior is also very pretty and the service is great! Perfect for a date night or some time with the girls for some margs!

Yelp
Picked this restaurant due to it being restaurant week in New Haven. First off, love the location. Downtown New Haven can feel overwhelming at times due to parking and it being busy, and this spot is conveniently located. The building and decor has an old time garage feel. I think in warmer weather, the garage doors go up to the outdoor seating? Not too sure though. I picked from their regular menu and needed to look up what chihuahua cheese was (am I the only one?! Haha). I ordered the Totopo Kit, Mexican Street Corn, Quesadilla de Huilacoche (add chorizo),and the Croquetas de Chorizo. The salsa in the totopo kit had such a KICK to it. I dipped the chip in all 3 salsas and it was so yummy! The street corn also had chipotle Mayo on it giving it a small kick, but my favorite part was the outside crunch they added. The quesadilla was made with a corn tortilla which gave it such a nice flavor. The croquetas de chorizo had such a nice flavor and crunch. Two of them on a plate was definitely enough! I give this place 4 stars due to service. The wait staff was very nice but not so much attentive. I had to ask for water often and waited about 15 min after someone else came to clear the table to be asked about a check. I definitely will be back in the summer to experience the summer vibe of the possible garage door being open!

Yelp
Third time in a month to Camacho. Excellent guacamole although not prepared table side. Tacos were very good also enjoyed the queso flamado with beef- outstanding. Cheesecake was very good too! Fun atmosphere.

Yelp
I'll be honest after reading some reviews my expectations were low. Walking in the aesthetics and vibes stand out immediately. We had a reservation for 7:00 pm and even though we were running late we were taken to our table right after checking in. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and made awesome recommendations. When the food took a little longer than usual she apologized and continued to check on us. I believe her name was Jan or Jen but im horrible with name. To start we ordered spicy Margaritas. I loved the mango one. I also tried a guava one but I was only tasting the spicy part in that one no taste of the guava. Definitely will be back for another mango Margarita. We ordered a ceviche and the camacho guacamole. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. The guacamole was lacking flavor for me. I know there was a mixup in the kitchen so that could impacted the finish product. The presentation was beautiful. For tacos we ordered the arabes on lettuce wrapped. I found them tasty and flavorful while my sister thought they were too spicy. The crème brûlée stole the show. Piña colada crème brûlée!!!! My sister and I both loved this. The combination of the pineapple and coconut with the caramelized sugar was exactly what I needed that I didn't think I did. Overall a great experience. The food does take long to come out but the restaurant was packed inside and outside so practicing some patience and having great conversation made the wait not bad.

Yelp
Food was decent. Mexican street corn and queso were my favorites. The quesadilla had too much on it in my opinion but still good. Also recommend getting the mango mojito! Ambience of the restaurant was nice, good decoration inside. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recommendations.

Yelp
I had made reservations but you can walk-in which is great! It was a nice day so I sat outside, but didn't stay there for long - flies were annoying! I then moved indoors which was fine too - the range of music from Rihanna to Latin was everything! The guac portion was quite small for the price. It had too much tomatoes and not enough salt in my opinion. I won't be getting it again. The drinks were so good - the margaritas weren't super sweet and had the right amount of liquor. The birria pizzadilla was average and barely lukewarm. I wish it was hot. The consume also wasn't hot. I don't get why everything was served barely warm. This also had too much tomatoes - it didn't need it really. The birria needed more flavor and it would have been better. It's a huge size, i wouldn't order if it's just 2 people sharing.

Yelp
This place was packed on a Tuesday night so I already had a good feeling that this would be a solid dining experience. Though it is a Mexican restaurant, salsa was playing loudly over the speakers but it didn't take away from the mood at all. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive to us, even though it appeared that they were short staffed, our table was missing napkins. We ended up getting tacos. As far as vegan options go: the vegetarian tacos without the cojita and crema are vegan, and the rice and beans are vegan, the guacamole and tortillas are vegan, and they have a vegan entree (the vegan sincronizzada) which comes with cashew queso. The tacos were good. They were elevated by the house made corn tortilla but you can get flour ones if you vibe with that. Was it better than the Long Wharf taco trucks? Slightly. You get less though, 2 for $9 at the lowest end. Also you would be forgiven for thinking they don't offer dessert as it is not on their online menu, but rest assured there is tres leches, flan and crème brûlée. Obviously, none of them being vegan so I was unable to try them but my friend enjoyed it though said it was a little too sweet to her taste. You mileage may vary. TL;DR: To be honest, at Camacho you are paying premium for the ambiance, which is really lively and great to be during the warmer months when the patio is open. Four tacos and a dessert ended up being over $30, plus tip. It's nice for a treat. I would bring a date here but my wallet would cry if I came regularly.

Yelp
Ahhh a restaurant I can depend of for all the things!!! I love it here. Ambiance: ALL THE VIBES!!! They so carefully curated the aesthetic of the restaurant inside and out, and it really shows. It's so unique, it's so vibey! It's the coolest "garage" to get a drink. Sitting at the bar is my favorite! Even the handles on the bathroom stalls are wenches I'm telling you they thought of everything! Food: WHATS NOT TO LOVE!!! They use such fresh ingredients and such high quality ingredients and you can taste the difference!! I love the queso, the guac, the birria tacos are to die for! Not to mention the deserts.. so playful and packed with surprises and great flavor! Service: wonderful. Bartenders that we had we very attentive, made great recommendations, catered to our taste. It was wonderful. A go-to spot
