The Best Restaurants and Bars in Camas, Washington | Eater Portland

"Olga Mikhalets and Yaroslav Mikhalets, owners of European bakery Sweet Touch Bakery and Svitoch European Deli by the Vancouver Mall, recently took over Camas Market by Lacamas Lake creating the perfect spot to grab picnic provisions like organic produce, deli meats and cheeses, pickles, and large rounds of crusty sourdough bread baked daily in the newly installed onsite oven. Their son, Ben Mikhalets, recently opened a coffee roastery and drive-thru next door called Daily Paper, which serves fresh pastries from Camas Market & Bakery as well as coffee drinks like the White Oak with white chocolate and macadamia nut and the Mud Slide, a sea salt and hazelnut mocha. Food and drink can be enjoyed at the nearby fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs." - Rachel Pinsky

We dropped in Friday , and purchased honey cake, fruit, and Pickles that were out of this world. I was a pickle maker some years ago. I want to leave a helpful tip to whomever makes these. Get fresh grape leaves to add to the cucumbers, and your pickles will stay extra crunchy, and mustard seed it will give a pretty yellowish color to the juice...keep up whatever you do ..they are fire!

They have excellent pastries here. I definitely recommend it.

So when you first walk inside the store, the front door is super clean. Once inside big windows with a large amount of natural light, the produce is amazing looking, the best produce I've seen in about 2 years. Inside the store is super clean, floors walls cooler everything. I would say this is the best small store in Camas Washington. Once inside greeted by a fellow local, who answered all my questions. Even the parking lot is clean and no debris. They also sell alcohol and scratch off tickets. This is the cleanest store I've been to in many years I'll be coming back again and again.

Google
A very nice little surprise. I pulled up to the market to redirect myself but decided to walk in. I am absolutely glad I did. I got some local berries and an amazing meat pie (I can't remember the name :P). I'm definitely gonna try to make it back for more!

This adorable little place is amazing, run by a great group of hard-working Ukrainian women. They have a fantastic fresh fruit selection, an amazing array of international foods, and a phenomenal bakery section with all the fresh baked goodness you could want. You HAVE to try the focaccia.

Google
Camas Market & Bakery is just as the name suggests. It’s a quaint little market and bakery with a European flair. The baked treats are wonderful! The store is very neat, clean and well organized. The staff have been extremely friendly and helpful when I’ve asked. We will definitely visit again.

Google
So far I've only gotten fresh bread, pastries, and produce from here, but they're all excellent. It's one of my favorite places to stop for a treat if I'm having a day or if I'm on my way to the lake. Highly recommend any of their yummy treats or savory bites.

When coming to the farmers market it’s a “must get a delicious bread” from Camas bakery. My favorite it’s the Nutella bread, but always try something different. All its so good.

Yelp
Great stop for some fresh bakery items and produce! When you walk in, there's a bakery case on your left with a large selection of various bakery items. There are macarons, turnovers, croissants, cookies, cakes, and breads. We decided to try the birthday cake macaron, coconut chocolate macaroon cookie, and the chocolate eclair. All 3 items were delicious. The coconut chocolate macaroon was drizzled with chocolate. The chocolate eclair's dark chocolate glaze was excellent. All of the items tasted fresh. We would get all 3 again. Camas Market also has grocery items like fresh fruit, vegetable, drinks, pasta, rice, snacks, etc. I would stop here again to try more of their delicious pastries!

Yelp
Gluten-free review: This is such a cute place right next to Lacamas Lake. I went in after it was redone. Still adorable. There is a ton of fresh produce, drinks, a small amount of shopping that you may need to grab, and some delicious sweets! I didn't look around much because I got caught at the pastry counter! They have a lot of breads and pastries, but they are not all gluten-free which is why the 4 out of 5 stars (this is a gluten-free review). Gluten-free Macarons: As someone who is gluten-free, you must try the macarons! They are the best that I have ever had. I personally feel most macarons usually just taste sweet, but these have the flavor they say they do. I have tried Earl Grey (my fave!) last summer. I went yesterday and I purchased the salted caramel and the pistachio..... My mouth is drooling thinking about these! I give them both 5 out of 5 jellybeans (5 stars). They are 3 dollars a pop, so choose wisely. I bought three macarons (one was an Oreo one for my non-gluten-free brother/ p.s. he loved it) and a cute pink meringue cookie. FYI: The macarons are not dairy-free but the meringue cookies are. The wonder gals helping were kind and very aware of what had gluten and what did not. They were kind, and you can see the hard work they put in the food they make. If you are around the neighborhood or want a delicious treat that's gluten-free head over to the Camas Market and Bakery to get some droolingly delicious macarons. I feel it's worth the trip. PS if you can have gluten, someone go try all of those yummy homemade breads and pizzas they make!

Yelp
I have live in this area very long time. This building has always been a place that I go for some good treats and eat. It has recently been taken over by new owners and remodeled. It has a large bakery now. Lots of fresh produce. The prices are a bit higher, but you expect that for fresh fresh. I bought several of the pastries. Little croissant with chocolate inside and a pistachio filled croissant. My friend bought some produce as well. Unfortunately, the pastries were not that fresh. Kind of dried out actually. The produce that my friend got was pretty good. Except there was mold on the bottom of the tomatoes in the basket. We do wish them success and I will definitely give them another try.

Yelp
Camas Market Bakery is my favorite discovery! Here you can find incredibly delicious, freshly baked sourdough bread and a wide variety of other bakery products. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. They also have a beautiful dessert display -- oh, that's my weakness! Especially their raspberry macarons -- absolutely divine, you have to try them! In addition to baked goods, they sell a great selection of fresh vegetables, many of which are locally grown. Everything is super fresh and top quality. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good bread, sweet treats, and fresh produce! Plus, the staff is so kind and helpful -- always ready to assist with a smile!

Yelp
Excellent produce, great selection of deli meats to choose from along with other goodies. Their bakery is wonderful! Focaccia bread baked fresh daily is amazing! Their pastry is fresh & delicious- not overly sweet which is very nice!! So blessed to have this little gem of a market & bakery so close by us in Camas right near Lacamas Lake!!

Yelp

Yelp
Dropped into this little grocery store and bakery and was pleasantly surprised. Fresh bread, pastries, and even some hot foods alongside gourmet items and basics. Good if you need to get some pastries for an event or snacks after a hike in one of the nearby parks. I wish this place would offer fresh deli sandwiches with the great raw ingredients they have! I would be a regular for that!

Yelp
Gorgeous bakery display. It was difficult to decide on what to get. I ended up with a 10 pack of macarons. They were delicate and delicious. Highly recommended!

Aleksandr L.

Yelp
Very important to see 1. Selling expired food 2. Selling food with no expiration dates 3. Various times of expired food or food went bad Service - is good

Yelp
What a fun find! An Eastern European & Russian market. Was returning from a short hike at Lacamas Park and stopped in here. They have a great selection of Eastern E.U. pastries and goods. Their roasted garlic focaccia is huge. We also got some poppyseed danish, savory cabbage pastry, cabbage-filled frybread, dumplings, pirogi, a variety of the bite-size fruit pastries as well as some bulk poppyseeds, veggy spread, and other random stuff.

Yelp
I'm so desperate to love this beautifully re-decorated store and support small local business. But every time I go there I get overcharged, or the staff is unnecessarily rude or the overpriced baked goods are stale. I love the new look and am prepared to pay a little more to support local, but after multiple attempts to shop there, I hope that this feedback will encourage them to respect their local customers, who are their lifeline and to treat them with kindness and gratitude for choosing them over a bigger corporate store. Camas Market- You have a wealthy captive audience and are so well-placed to make loyal customers- don't waste this opportunity by being rude and insulting your customers by pretending you don't understand when we call you out on repeatedly overcharging us.

Prisila F.

Yelp
We had a couple of pastries and purchased a couple of grocery items. Pastries were good and items were fresh. They had a lot of European items, staff was friendly and location was clean.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! This market is so small and cute but offers such a wonderful variety of products from fresh bread, which is baked on site, delicious pastries and so much more.

Yelp
The flavors are amazing, the staff is lovely, it's clean, well kempt and well organized. Like a small grocery experience in Europe. I will absolutely be back. They have house made perogi and perini too!

Sharon B.

Yelp
Service is okay. Just a simple small market with a bakery. It's okay. Thank you very much.

Yelp
It was a wonderful store with great pastries and amazing staff. The prices might be a bit higher than a commercialized store for some items but that's to be expected. But the unique selection and pastries and produce make this store great. If you want cheap celery or cheap produce go to Walmart it's 10 mins away, I don't see why people feel the need to be so entitled.

Max H.

Yelp
Super cute and diverse selection! Looks like a convenience store from the outside but it's packing a lot of interesting stuff. Got a sausage pastry and it was delicious

Joseph H.

Yelp
I just got back from Switzerland this morning and was craving some good bread and cheese which is hard to come by out here. You can find cheese in Safeway but it's expensive, and you have to go to Portland or Vancouver for the bread. Plus I'm tired of shopping at big grocery stores. I was super excited to see there's a new bakery in town that sells fresh loafs of bread! Also they have some very nice cheeses and meats, including pate. Everyone who works there is super helpful and the food is delicious and authentic. Craving satisfied! Found my new spot :)

Jeremy O.

Yelp
This small market in upper Camas has a great selection of interesting Eastern European fare and ingredients. A great spot to stop for a snack, whether it's a sweet bakery item or a savory one, like pizza. Super nice people, too!

Heather M.

Yelp
Delicious, focaccia bread everyone who's tried it loves it with the rosemary and garlic. Beautiful produce fruit and gorgeous desserts

Yelp
I love coming here for lunch! Their hot case is amazing. It seems like it's made fresh daily and there's always new things to try!

Suzanne D.

Yelp
I had not been in since it was sold. I was impressed with the new store and looked forward to telling friends and family about it. I got up to the register and the lady behind the register who is actually the owner was horribly rude. I mentioned how impressed I was with the store and the pastry bar. She saw that I had milk in my hand and did not respond to anything I said. she said to me "it that all"? I was taken by her attitude. No thank you, no smile nothing just a rude disposition. The store is already a bit spendy and with her sour and ungrateful personality, I won't be back. I was telling a friend of my experience, and she stated the same and this is why they quit shopping there.

Yelp
The best sourdough bread EVER. We come here every week for some. They have dope desserts, but we have only tried the cannolis (wish they had more cream in them, barely any). Good store to come to for essentials but we come for the bakery and international foods.
google avatar

Yelp
At Last! Beautiful delicious European breads and fresh produce!!! Right here without having to burn fuel up Highway 14! Love it!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Just amazing. I liked Camas Produce, but this new owner has an amazing selection of high quality products. Major upgrade. I think this is the same family that owns the European Market off Andreisen. Now I can get terrific bread and gourmet food much closer to home!

Yelp
My new go to for the tastiest dessert I have ever had. 5 stars I had the Tiramisu and it was absolutely the best I have ever tasted.

Ken A.

Yelp
This is a great place to get fruit or vegetables if you're in a hurry. They have very unusual bakery items you won't find anywhere else.

Debbie H.

Yelp
They are unfriendly, do not carry basic needed produce that is good quality. Very overpriced. The old Camas Produce was head and shoulders above this store. I mow avoid going there as it is a waste of time and money.

Duyen N.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised there lots of desserts offered. If you like desserts that are not too sweet and flavorful, then it's the place. I would highly recommend making the trip there.

Michelle G.

Yelp
I stopped in when I was almost home and didn't want to drive back to Safeway, I just needed a few veggies for soup. I picked up a wilted organic celery, I saw no price listed, it rang up at 8.59!! I said "Eight fifty nine, for celery!" Olga replied, "It's Organic!" I said that's crazy and grabbed a non organic one, it rang up for 4.99, I said forget it I don't need to make soup that badly... she actually gave it to me for 2.99 which was nice, but this store is so overpriced. I cannot shop here, I tried!

Emma M.

Yelp
New owners have done an amazing job! I shop here often. Lots of Eastern European foods that you wouldn't find anywhere else. They even have some vegan friendly options such as plant based milks and vegan marshmallows. Good selection of produce including big bunches of dill, cherries, plums, apricots that are well priced. Very nice staff and owners, and the market somehow always has everything I need.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Bakery goods were good, wasn't a fan of one of the worker in the building. Probably would not return since it's so far out and my experience wasn't the best. Wouldn't recommend to friends and families too since there are other bakery with friendly staff with better bakery goodies closer to Portland and Gresham.

Cam E.

Yelp
I stopped to buy a pastry and when I walked through the door they had corn 99 cents an ear.The corn is what I would feed my cows...They didn't know what Italian prunes were I had to show her.The produce looks so sad.I went to the pasty case and bought 2 different things at 15.00 and I threw both away. They were so dry I couldn't eat them. Will never go back.

Grrrrrrrrrrr G.

Yelp
This is a great new place. It's in the building where Camas Produce used to be. The new owner has expanded the stock tenfold and included hot food as well. She is friendly and knowledgeable. She also owns a similar shop near the Vancouver mall. Excellent place

Phil T.

Yelp
EVERYTHING tastes awesome. Not just some things, but everything that they bake tastes as if it was sent down from heaven! Wow are they tasty. My waistline is sooo in trouble. The fresh bread is so good, that a slice or two with dinner is not going to work out realistically. The pastries are really something that we have lacked for a while in Camas. I try to not go by as much, but I just can not stop myself. My family is waiting with extreme anticipation for the rest of the Market to be completed. A great Deli is so important for every town. Everything is fresh and often the bread or the turnovers are still hot from 5he oven as it goes in our bag. Sadly this means that many things just stand no chance of getting home before we eat some! Also able to pick up some great fresh apricots and peaches today. Just a great market with extremely friendly staff. We love it! Oh yeah, today we had a few "Pups in a Blanket" like I had at school as a kid. But the old lunch lady never made a hot dog baked into a bread roll seem nearly as tasty!
