Medieval in the Medical World Exhibit, Cambridge University Library I booked free tickets online, and on arrival the receptionist gave me a lanyard to wear. The exhibit is mostly located downstairs in its own dedicated room, with toilets nearby. The information provided was clear, easy to read, and well presented. It was also pleasantly quiet, with only two other visitors during my visit. The second part of the exhibit is upstairs in the University Library, where you can browse some of their fascinating medical books. Bags need to be left in a locker, which is provided. A well-organised and interesting exhibit that’s easy to explore at your own pace.

Came here for some research work at this esteemed library. Really grateful for the help before the visit and some great service. Very clear instructions. They have a system you need to go through to visit and order items. This is a huge building and one needs some help finding the way around for sure. Here, there are specialist collections and unique books.

the number and variety of books here blew my mind!! Cambridge is the best place to find good book recommendations, and Cambridge University Library offers fantastic academic literature (I looked for medical/ chemistry textbooks) in multiple languages... also fun to look through the huge collection of census data and see if you can find your ancestors, very fun :))

Went for the curious cures exhibition. Erie and imposing looking building from the outside, but don't let that put you off, the inside is a delight. Nice little exhibition on medieval medicine. I would have liked to look at the whole library (which is enormous), but sadly, and quite rightly, it is off limits to the public. Don't try to drive there. Use the Park and Ride and the University blue bus (it is for everyone's use).

Excellent exhibition of Curious Cures. Wonderful to see such old books and manuscripts. Interesting approach to security! We arrived and went to the first part of the exhibition which was located on the ground floor. My small backpack style handbag was allowed through. On return to the reception in order to gain access to the 2nd and 3rd locations of the exhibition, I was informed that my bag had to go into a locker, but I could have a clear plastic carrier bag and take whatever I needed into the library. Okay. Seems fair enough. Whilst in the locker room I saw a couple of people merely empty the entire contents of their rucksacks into the plastic bags and gained admittance with no problem, Another merely put her entire backpack into the carrier bag provided and was then allowed through the turnstile without a second glance!!! All by the same person who denied my handbag admission 🤔. Whilst in the library I noted quite a few people with rucksacks, backpacks, and other large bags, so am a bit confused. However. Exhibition was great.

I went on a tour of Clare College organised by the university and a local council. The facilities look very inviting with subsidised cafes and bars. A pint of beer is £3 and the bar is run by students for the students. There is a nice community vibe to the place.

Standing tall over the city. Imposing. Grand. The 'UL' contains a fantastic collection of books. It is also a central point of study for many students, being a central point for study at the world famous University of Cambridge. Not everyone can use the library. Only members of the University of Cambridge and Academic staff and research students from other universities can use it. Undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from other UK universities can apply to access the Library for reference during Cambridge vacations. Even if you can't get in, it is worth having a wonder round the site to be impressed by the sheer size of it. And why not keep walking and have a look around the Sidgwick site of the University of Cambridge - home to the Arts Faculties of the University.
