Google
10/10 experience you'll definitely enjoy it and have quite a few laughs. Great cocktails and amazing staff. The Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy was fantastic.

Nichole Rettmann

Google
The show was a fun event with comically dramatic presentations of some of Poe's works paired with chillingly tasty cocktails. Mocktails were also available for those not wanting alcohol.

Google
Tonight’s Edgar Allan Poe! He is my favorite writer and OMFG! Please know, these actors and not just actors, 5 people put this production into effect! These guys did the most Amazing job! Do not tell them, I would have paid double!

Google
SOO much fun! Went to the Edgar Allan Poe speakeasy event!! I can't say enough about it. Super entertaining & friendly cast and crew. The drinks? Delicious!!!! I need the recipe for "The Cat's Meow" STAT haha. Poe lovers will be delighted. The creative liberties taken were flawlessly done so that none of the source material was neglected, only improved in a modern way such that the stories held even more resonance. I walked away appreciating even more how much of an agonizing, passionate artist Poe was & how much his sense of the gothic and macabre holds up as beautiful & haunting. Fantastic acting that conveyed his torture & love. I'm so hype for their other shows coming out. If you get the chance fellow lit lovers, this was so fun. Only complaint is that I would've enjoyed it being doubly as long!

Google
Best movie theatre experience I’ve ever had. Very intimate and classy vibe. Always playing great movies. Staff is very approachable and friendly. I recommend this place to all my friends and family who visit Fayetteville.

I went to the Edgar Allen Poe speakeasy here. I had a blast. Cocktails were all good and show was on point

Google
The Poe Speakeasy show was great! Cast was talented and friendly! Poe story selections were terrific! I plan to attend more of their shows. Loved the intimate venue at the Cameo!

Google
Cameo is the best part about Fayetteville tbh. Very grateful that they are willing to show the “smaller”, indie films that the larger chain theaters in the city aren’t able to offer. Love that they also provide opportunities to see older classics on the big screen and host other artsy events. The historical building on Hay Street is simply a precious gem. So cute! 🥺

Yelp
Cute little movie theater right in downtown on Hay street! You can pre purchase tickets online or right there at the counter. Great selection of snacks in addition to some pretty tasty popcorn. Also they sell beer and wine. It's old timey so dont expect cushy recliner chairs or fancy bathrooms. I will definitely keep an eye out for their showings, it feels more special than a huge name theater.

Yelp
Wonderful place. Loved the history there. Definitely will be back. Hope it stays open

Yelp
Such a cool little theater. I prefer this over AMC or other big theaters. The employees were nice and the layout is so cool.

Yelp
Awesome little independent movie theatre. They have 2 screens, the upstairs screen has maybe 20 seats... Very intimate and a great way to experience a movie away from the crowds. They serve beer, but I didn't catch the price. Downtown Fayetteville so there are some restaurants and small shops near by too.

Yelp
This is the best theatre in town, and I would know for I am a college educated movie-theatre expert. The smaller theatre room upstairs is my favorite place to watch a movie. The popcorn has a crunch and depth that you will not find at the cineplex! Industry-insider tip: mix Swedish Fish in with a small bag of popcorn. Excellent The Cameo is an important fixture of Fayetteville. When very few businesses believed in downtown, the Cameo opened up to bring Fayetteville an art experience that many larger cities in NC do not have.

Yelp
I have been to this little Indie theater twice now and I really enjoy that they show movies that are not normally in theaters. They have 2 theaters, which are very clean and they switch out their movies as frequently as once a week. This place also sells gourmet snacks and drinks such as wine, beer or coffee. The employees are always friendly and helpful. Definitely a great spot for date night.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the design of this place. It's hip and retro. I haven't actually watched a movie here but they show indie movies which I appreciate and will definitely watch one day. They offer a lot of snacks and seating, however the prices are pretty high to be frank. They do have discounts for students and military. I'll have to actually watch a movie to see how the rest of this business is, but from my limited exposure its an A in my book.

Yelp
Swoon. They have 2 screens and the one upstairs is the most comfortable and perfect theatre I've ever been to. Also, you can drink.. I mean, hello. Definitely in my top 10 favorite places to go this town.

Yelp
It's a great addition to the whole historic downtown feel. We love that they play the independent films and that you don't have to deal with the usual rowdy crowds at the more commercial movie theaters. They have a great selection of snacks and finer sweets. And they serve alcohol. It's only a couple dollars more than carmikes, but with the atmosphere, it's definitely worth it.

Yelp
This was the only place in 50 mi to show Snowpiercer (great film btw!) and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to watch it at the Cameo. It's a nice addition to downtown and definitely gives an otherwise drab downtown a spark of character and entertainment, especially for people who are not interested in the bar scene. There are snacks available: popcorn, soda, but also candies like fruit gummies, gourmet chocolates, and alcoholic beverages. There are two screens, but they're pretty nice and the audio clarity puts some of the other Fayetteville theaters to shame. Seating is a bit cramped and a little dated, but otherwise, for a small, independent cinema, it's a great place to be.

Yelp
What a fabulous place to enjoy a movie, not mainstream movies, enjoy refreshments to include adult beverages and relax! With their new digital projector, the screen is crisp and very vibrant.
google avatar

Allie A.

Yelp
What an amazing movie house! They have a delightful menu of alcoholic beverages and snacks too. Added perk: if you have to use the restroom mid movie they have the soundtrack playing in there! Win!
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Just the best movie experience. I took my family here this evening for a night out. A really good value for the money and an opportunity to enjoy a movie in a nostalgic setting. A true gem in this community.
google avatar

Whitney M.

Yelp
This is a cool little spot to relax and watch a movie. Majority of films that they play here are not in other theaters around Fayetteville. The theater is so relaxing not freezing and everyone watched the movie and not play on their phones the whole film. I enjoyed my time here and I wished more movie theaters were like this one. Yes there is wine and liquor..
google avatar

C A.

Yelp
Better and more diverse selection than the chain theaters, fun location, and the staff make the experience even better. They have free refills on coffee, too! It's not the best coffee or anything, but it's not shabby and more coffee is always a good thing in my opinion. No big difference in price than any other movie theater, but I'd much rather have my money go to support these guys. (:

Yelp
First time visiting Cameo Art house last night. Great local gem find in Fayetteville. Staff was pleasant and knowledgable. I have always been a big fan of the movie "The Majestic" and now I felt like I could live it (except the experience has been updated with digital sound and video). The only downside (why my rating is a 4 and not a 5) the seats could be a little nicer. Great spot to take a date, I know my wife and I will be back. I didn't go upstairs, so I won't comment only to say I have heard good things.

Yelp
Awesome. Only place in Fayetteville where you can feel for a second there may be a small splinter of culture in an otherwise overpopulated hell-hole of a town. No small children due to type of movies shown, which is a blessing in a town where everyone has at least two or three children they cannot seem to control.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Excellent place to see a movie. The loge upstairs is comfortable. Get to see movies not shown in chains. Thankful for the theater being here. Give it a try!

Yelp
Hello, amazing. Old school charm with new school movies. Boyfriend and I went to a Sunday afternoon showing of Act of Valor. The guys behind the counter were very nice and explained to us the rules of the Theatre "have a snack, have a drink (alcohol or not), kick back and relax. They have 2 screens, one upstairs and one down stairs. We both got coffee and popcorn. We had the Theatre upstairs and it was so comfortable, the most comfortable movie Theatre seats I have EVER sat my tush in. *sigh* if only ever Theatre was like this.
google avatar

Yelp
They get four stars just because I wish they showed more new movies! My husband and I have been going to this theater regularly for two years. It's old-fashioned and adorable. My best experiences here were seeing Harry Potter in the upstairs theater (felt a little bit like we were in Hogwarts) and seeing Hunger Games with some girlfriends (love the mini bottles of wine!) It's a little less kid friendly--please don't bring a baby!!--and if you're tall, expect to slouch a little bit because the floor isn't sloped like in most theaters (you're more likely to block someone's view). Overall it's a great place with a fun atmosphere that's more bang for your buck than a run-of-the-mill theater.

Yelp
By far the best theater in town. I love that they show a few big hits as well lots of small budget art films. Another thing is that you can actually buy a beer or glass of wine at this theater. There are two screens, on the ground floor it has a lot of seats, they could be upgraded a bit, they are a bit short, and I like to rest my head back. The upstairs theater is much smaller but the seats are super comfy. Even though the main floor seats aren't the greatest, they get 5 stars. Gotta love the local business!! Also, another great note is that their prices are less than the big name theaters around time. Not a child friendly theater, which; in my opinion is great!

Yelp
My favorite place to see a movie. Great service and clean. It is small but never overcrowded and noisy. Always has great films.Plus they serve alcohol!

Yelp
I have to hand it to Cameo, they're trying to keep the last gasp of culture alive in Fayetteville. They're pricey, but worth it: they serve beer and such during the films. I wish to god they would get some better popcorn and the seats are a bit uncomfortable when compared to a megaplex, but in general the experience of seeing a film here can't be matched. If you have the chance to see a film upstairs in the smaller theater, I recommend it. It's a bit more intimate - you really feel like you're watching it with a few dozen other people. It's easy to strike up conversations after the film.

Yelp
Best gem in the downtown area. Very special place! Love the historic atmosphere. Also love that you can purchase gourmet snacks, beer, and wine here and eat while you watch your movie.

Yelp
Five stars! We been fans of the Cameo for years. Our experience is always pleasant, the employees and the owners are always very polite and welcoming, and it's a great place to catch an independent film (or mainstream for that matter). The "experience" at the big theaters doesn't even compare - McDonald's versus fine dining. I agree with the reviewer who said the seats down stairs are little tight. You just have to be choosy about your seat when it's crowded. The upstairs is great, less seats but quite comfortable. So, so glad the Cameo is still here, it is a Fayetteville "best".

Yelp
Cameo Theatre offers a great venue to view movies, live performances, and events. I prefer the atmosphere the Cameo Theatre provides over large theatre chains. This theatre obviously prides itself on providing the perfect movie experience by serving a large variety of concessions and keeping the theatre, filled with comfortable seating, impeccably clean.

Lea B.

Yelp
Our fondness for the Cameo continues to thrive. We venture here with near weekly regularity, and are never disappointed. The films shown are predominantly independent and foreign, but since the transition to digital there have been a few showings of bigger name films. Whilst we might in the past have seen Superman or a cinematic equivalent at a different theater, I have loved the option of blockbuster, beverage, and support of a local small business. There are a few unmentioned perks of this theater. First, buying a membership saves cost on tickets. Considering our patronage frequency, this is most definitely worth the cost. Second, the bathroom in closest proximity to the screen has audio of the film playing. This might not apply to others, but I LOVE this feature because my husband can be a film talker. Hearing the action as it happens has eliminated many a marital squabble. P.S. So glad to see that Franziskaner has returned to the beer line up.

Yelp
Cute theatre downtown, movies are documentaries which are nice. Alcohol available for purchase and reasonable prices!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place. Independent and foreign films are my thing. And I was so excited seeing the Oscar nominee shorts. Unique atmosphere. I feel sophisticated when I go there. LOL!
google avatar

Yelp
The best Movie House in town. A beautifully renovated old school movie house. Great movies, great atmosphere (few if any screaming kids except when there is a kid's movie featured). Oh and they serve beer and wine.
google avatar

Dinah G.

Yelp
Very cozy and friendly theater. It is like a well-kept secret downtown. Great cinema atmosphere, gourmet snacks and a general Hollywood feel.
google avatar

Lizzy R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Whenever they offer a movie that I'd like to see I go out of my way to go there rather than any of the more convenient Carmike cinemas. It's got a retro style, and they serve beer and wine. The popcorn is fresh and sweets offered are great! The beer service totally won over my husband hahah

Jamie P.

Yelp
This is the best theater in Fayetteville. I wish they had an additional screen so they go show more films. The atmosphere is relaxed.
google avatar

Jackie L.

Yelp
The Cameo is the only theatre I'll go to in town. I love it there, fantastic staff and overall atmosphere. They are always showing the movies I want to see, we go every weekend, get a couple beers and enjoy the show!
google avatar

Ann N.

Yelp
This is my favorite movie theater in Fayetteville. Staff is friendly, theater is clean, and snacks are great. They have all the traditional offerings, plus a few non-traditional offerings (wine & gourmet chocolate are my favs) that make it a fun mix. A great place for a downtown date night. We like to grab an early dinner and see the early showing and grab some dessert after. One of my fav spots in Fayetteville.
google avatar

Caitlin L.

Yelp
Super nice! Went on a date with hubby. Id come here again!

Robert G.

Yelp
Absolutely the best movie theatre in Fayetteville. It has a cozy, intimate atmosphere. The staff are very hospitable. There is a wide selection of popcorn, candies, snacks, and beverages - including beer and wine. The Cameo is the only venue within hundreds of miles that offers independent movies. foreign films, and little known screen projects. The Cameo also showcases live musical acts. Unfortunately, there are only two screens, and one of them has slightly tight seats. But this mom & pop establishment is one of the best places for entertainment in town.

Jordan S.

Yelp
I love the Cameo. This is a little gem in the Sandhills area. They show wonderful independent films, and I just love the overall atmosphere. It's hard to find anything like this theater.

Mindy E.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal! Great atmosphere! Movie, coffee and beer! What else can you ask for?! Love , Love, Love!!!!!!

Erin O.

Yelp
Got to see the Horrible Folks perform here. Place is amazing! Candy is expensive, but still a beautiful building!
