Cameron Trading Post

Popped by for a quick lunch in a local Navajo restaurant. Great portion sizes and lovely staff. Would have posted a pic of our sharing appetiser sampling plate but we ate it too quickly. 🫣 Didn’t stay in a room so can’t comment on that, but if the decor is as lovely as the restaurant, I think it’d get a 5* from me too.

We drove 3 hours round trip out of our way to have lunch here. This is a must stop! More authentic, American Indian made items than you can imagine. If you're looking for something really special, there's a separate store with antique pieces. The restaurant is busy but has the service worked out so there's not too much waiting. The atmosphere is old, elegant and there is a great view of red rocks. I highly recommend anything with the Indian fry bread - stew, burger, taco or French dip.

The Trading Post was such a convenient and beautiful place to stay! Easy off/easy on to Hwy 89. We were in the Hopi building, 3rd floor, and had a great view of the river. It was surprisingly quiet given that it is right on the highway. So nice to have the restaurant right next to the rooms. Really good food, extremely reasonable prices! Our server was so kind and helpful. The trading post had some very unique Native American crafts and art, plus a huge selection of touristy souvenirs. We were just passing through on this trip, but the next time we head to both rims of the Grand Canyon, we'll stay there again. Bonus: there is a post office on the grounds as well.

My Lady has never had a Navajo Taco. Cameron Trading Post serves the BEST Tacos in the area, so we took a little trip out for her to experience them first hand!! The food was AMAZING, and the rustic decor and views are worth checking out!! The gift shop is also amazing offering just about anything you would want, and even several things you didn’t know you wanted or need too!! Great place to stop for great food and also things to remember the trip through!!

If traveling thru then DO stop in for at least something to eat. Really good food! Staff was great and service quick. If you want a souvenir with a native feel I do believe the trading post has it! Some nice local pottery and then the funky stuff from China too.

Customer service was great! The store has a lot of authentic NA made items for sell. ||The Navajo taco was blah for being so hyped up. I didn’t even bother finishing it. And their guacamole lacked flavor. Liver and onions was very good!

Strategically located for visiting Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon , Monument Valley and Bryce Canyon . Stayed there for 4 nights and I drove to all four best spots in the western USA. Rooms are clean and spacious and reasonable priced as the Motel is very huge and never goes full . Restaurant is 250 seats and offers Native American hospitality with Mexican and American food . Food quality is hit or miss as some portions are huge but Soups are served in a tiny cup and charged 5 dollars for 5 tablespoons !! Shell Gas station on premises was useful to top up gas every evening after your day trip . A must stay if you want to visit the Canyon lands .

Here’s my two cents. I wanted to go here so bad and talked it up to my family. We ordered the green chile stew, a Navajo taco and a French dip on fry bread. Service was not so good. Took a long time to get drinks. The taco had no flavor. It wasn’t good at all. The French dip was ok and the stew was really bad. Nothing was gross, but nothing had flavor. I wouldn’t waste my money. I saw a lot of stands along the side of the road and maybe they would’ve been a better choice. The stuff in the store is so expensive. But it’s all cool stuff. It’s just a really touristy place.

Here at the 108 year old Cameron Trading Post there's a Trading Post, Dining Room, Top Quality Native Goods showroom, hotel/lodging, fuel and a bridge over the Little ColorColorado River Girge built in 1911 under a Bureau of Indian Affairs contract. If you follow William Henry Jackson, A.C. Vroman, Jo Mora, etc. You can get a feeling for the usefulness of this bridge in the early automobile years, and second, why a gas station, food, lodging, and groceries are useful East.of Grand Canyon National Monument. My brother, even in his thousands of miles of Southwest photographic and other travels never stopped here. My daughter brought fellow employee at Bosch Baha'i School to AZ about 17 years ago. I knew a woman employed here as a girl. I worked in the area. We met Ed and Christie here as they returned to Texas from the North. Each of these reasons brought us to Cameron and it's trading post. Every trip, in it's time and season educated me more. The pull-apart bread appetizer is a must-eat, if you like ham and white gravy. Young women from Kansas are thrilled by Navajo Tacos (popover with everything). The vistas are grand, anqmtiquity and hand handcrafts timeless, stonework stunning, the 1911bridge closed. E

Stopped on our way to Horseshoe Bend for lunch, as I wanted to try the fry bread here. The dining room was beautiful with a nice fire going and a lot of Navajo art. The building is historical going back to 1920 and is very quaint. I ordered the French dip sandwich made with fry bread and I asked for coleslaw but was given fries instead. The sandwich was a little heavy with the fry bread and could easily be split with someone unless you're extra hungry. The fries were just ok. My husband ordered a burger, which he said was good. I also ordered a sopaipilla for dessert which is basically fry bread with honey, cinnamon and powdered sugar. This was a little different than a sopaipilla I had at another Southwest restaurant in the past but still good. Service was excellent apart from the coleslaw mixup with us being checked on by several people during our meal.

I'd been here a few times just to use the bathroom and peruse the general store/gallery, but the Yummy Shack down the road always seemed a bit more appealing for food. Passing through around dinner hours provided a nice opportunity to actually try the restaurant here. Service was a bit slow (took a few minutes to order and get the check), but food came out very fast. I had green chile stew--given how fast it emerged they likely just have a big pot of it and fry the bread to order. Stew was flavorful and tender--potatoes and pork were fresh, and the chiles were very spicy (think 3/5 at a good Thai restaurant). Fry bread was tasty since it was fresh-fried, but it was a bit on the crispy side, and not as tender or flavorful as the yummy shack down the road. That said, even after tax and tip it was $5 cheaper. So, comparing the two places to get Navajo food in Cameron--the Trading Post has indoor sit-down dining, slightly lower prices, and a wider menu, but the Yummy Shack has lamb specialties and fresher fry bread. Make your choice accordingly.

If you've visited the Grand Canyon, you've probably been to the Cameron Trading Post. I've been here mostly when I've taken tour guided tours of the Grand Canyon and is a great stop for all things touristy- to shop, to eat, and to pee. The dining room is through the gift shop and it's usually pretty bustling. When I ate here last time, I wanted to get something that I can't usually get where I'm from so I tried the Navajo Taco, which is made with fried bread. This was huuuuge and definitely tasty. The gift shop had a good amount of things to choose from and was a great place to kill time before heading back on your tour. Great stop!

Very friendly staff. Warm and inviting atmosphere. I had the breakfast special and it was amazing You can tell the food is made with care. Do t hesitate to give this restaurant a try!

Fun rest stop for the whole family as we traveled from Antelope Canyon to Sedona. Beautiful, historic trading post with a solid option of indigenous-made gifts. The dining area had a roaring fire and plenty of seating. There was something on the menu for everyone, we had to try the famous Navajo taco and prickly pear milkshake. Worth the stop if you're traveling through the area.

We came straight here from the Grand Canyon on my friend's recommendation. The restaurant sits in the back of the store and has a lot of seating and great views. It wasn't too busy when we came in and were seated almost immediately. Our server was really nice and checked on us constantly. I ordered the Navajo taco and it was huge. It could've been shared between two people, but we all ended up ordering one each because we didn't anticipate how much food it was. The flavors of this tasted like a taco salad but with frybread instead of a tortilla bowl, but it was still good! This is an extremely filling and heavy meal, so keep that in mind when ordering this. As a table, we ordered the sopaipilla as a dessert, but it was much heavier than we expected. We thought it be lighter and more airy like other sopaipillas we'd had, but this felt like the frybread from the Navajo tacos repurposed for this dish. It came with honey, powdered sugar, and cinnamon to pour on/in. It all tasted good, but I wouldn't order this after the Navajo taco as both were quite heavy and dense.

The Indian Tacos are massive . Only need one and you're stuffed. I recommend you also taking fry bread to go as that is an option. The flavor was amazing and there is spectacular views in the dining area and a gift shop .

We've stopped here a couple of times now, but this is the first time we've eaten in the restaurant. It's a huge dining room with this amazing huge roaring fireplace. It was a great wintery vibe before heading back to warm, sunny Tucson. We shared an Indian taco because they're huge! We also split chips and salsa - they use their hot in house jarred salsa, which was pretty good! We love to have an Indian taco when in the area, and this one was loaded! Service was good as well. It's also a great stop in the middle of nowhere to use the restroom, stretch your legs, and look at lots of Native America crafts and gifts. There so much to catch your eye here! You can't drive right by this place!

Very touristy, but in a good way. Lots of shopping, souvenirs, restaurant and munchies! We ordered a Navajo Taco, Navajo Burger and shared a Prickly Pear milk shake. The service was good and fast! Although we were sat in the middle of the dining room, we could still see out the windows at the beautiful red rock landscape. We were hesitant to stop but will stop every time we are in the area now.

Be prepared for a little bit of a wait! Service is a little slow, so chillax and enjoy the view. While the service was slow and the food was decent, the views and the location itself are stunning! Beautiful scenery and magical gardens surround this place. It would be a fun place for an overnight! As for food? The frybread is an absolute MUST order. Even if it's just a side order. The prickly pear milkshake is a legit prickly pear milkshake, not a fake syrup addition to creamy ice cream. We started with a combo appetizer and selected the prickly pair, hot wings, Cameron, potato skins, and the pull apart bread. Everything was good. I just wish the pull of bread had the cheese melted all the way through. It was cold in the middle. The green chilli stew is yummy (maybe add a pinch of salt). Our group also shared a traditional dry bread with chili and toppings, add on salsa! The fry bread French dip was a thumbs up. While the gravy on the Navajo Hot Beef was DELICIOUS, the meat was a little tough by eating it "like a pizza" worked like a charm. If I came again, I'd order prickly pear wings, a side fry bread (with their ranch which was amazing), and a prickly pear milkshake!

It was such a drive to get here. We stayed at Navajoland Hotel, which is one of the few options out here in this neck of the desert. The food, cleanliness and speed of service at Navajoland were far from terrific; plus, we were staying for a few days and felt we had been there and done that. So we ventured on the road in search of other options. Yelp and Google were not accurate. The mom and pop food stands and food trucks on those maps were nowhere to be seen. We were visiting during peak spring break season (hotels were sold out), so it was odd. Perhaps they all went under from lack of customers during Covid. There really were not other dining options. This trading post was over an hours' drive round trip. We walked to the dining room and see a dozen people lined up waiting to be seated. Others who came about when we showed up ended up leaving. The ballroom size dining room had a lot of people seated. Had they been served? We wondered if we made a huge mistake of having trekked so far out with hungry young kids in tow only to arrive at hours long wait times. There is no food for miles. With no other viable option, we stuck around. When a new hostess showed up to work (where was she? why wasn't someone working the prior shift?), she had good work ethic. She walked as fast as she could and seated most everyone. Not the most efficient in decision making but such a hard worker. Ok. We had seats. We next worried that the kitchen would be backed up with the herd that just came in. But that turned out ok, too. The servers came by within a reasonable period of time to take orders. Most the menu and what we ordered was either pre-made for assembly only or easy to fix. The kitchen was fast. - Indian fry bread taco (cold toppings, be aware) - French dip - burgers - fries The server bringing food out were fast. She carted a 3 layer cart and delivered food to multiple tables along a route. We got our food. I was sad to see our food was on the bottom shelf of the cart, next to the floor, the cart wheels and her feet. :/ I imagined the dust kicked up from her and other feet landing on the food. How often do they vacuum? But starving beggars can't be choosers. We ate. Relative to Navajoland, the food was tastier, service was faster and prices were about the same. This seemed like a restaurant. Where Navajoland felt like eating at a friend's aunt's house where you fake smile at the slow teenage servers and suck it up as auntie isn't a pro in the food industry. If not for the missing hostess and the food being near the ground, this place has a higher sense of order. If we come back to this part of the country, we would stay and eat at the trading post.

We stopped in here on our way to Monument Valley . I had been hearing that the food here was very good and the fry bread was phenomenal so this time with some friends in tow we didn't decide to make the stop for lunch. The fry bread did not disappoint the Navajo tacos or delicious huge The service was excellent, our server graciously split a taco and another dish so that we could try more things. The Arnold Palmer was delightful. Not too sweet. The chili was a little bland but still tasty.

Everything was so unique and "Native". Someone was actively weaving, very interesting to watch. The "Tree of Life" sun catcher went in my front window and was the best souvenir I brought home!

My family was in Arizona for a family vacation and we stopped at Cameron Trading Post along the way from Page to Flagstaff. I loved how big the place was and how much art and decor there is in the restaurant. We were seated almost immediately, but the staff seemed a bit rushed and not super helpful. We came a bit after peak lunch hour but they still seemed very busy and when we asked if we could sit by the window to take in the view, we were told it was only for parties of 5 or more which seemed odd. Our family tried the Navajo Taco, the special which was a Turkey wrap in dry bread, prickly pear bbq chicken, and the chicken wrap. The Navajo taco was super interesting to try and we loved the fry bread!! I really liked my turkey wrap special and the dry bread was unique. I also loved the potato salad on the side as well. The prickly pear bbq chicken was ok, and the chicken wrap was pretty good. For dessert, we got the Sopapilla which was fry bread pieces with powdered sugar and honey on top. It was absolutely delicious, but I think I would've tried the Highway 98 Landslide instead which comes with ice cream! Overall, pretty decent spot and great store to check out afterwards.

Came here on a tour. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone to this place. The entire place was unique as it is a hotel, restaurant, and a store with various items inside ranging from authentic Native American items such as rugs, souvenirs, I was able to check out the store, and there's a weaver inside who makes the rugs and blankets. In the back, there is a restaurant with American and Navajo food. I ordered the Navajo Beef Stew, which came with fry bread. It was so delicious that I finished it right away. The fry bread came with honey, and that was a great combination. I tried a little bit of the Navajo taco, and that was great, too. It had the toppings of a regular taco. However, it came on a fry bread. The fry bread has a different texture like a zeppole. I really suggest this place to visit.

Eating here makes you feel like you are really eating in the American West. Lovely dining room with gorgeous original Navajo art works all around, a fire place and beautiful views from the windows. I had the Navajo Taco. My bar is set pretty high because I have a good Navajo friend who makes me excellent, from scratch tacos frequently. But this taco did not disappoint. It was huge and delicious. The fry bread was just perfect. Service was good too. I was so glad we had time to eat here. I will be back next time we pass through.

Meh, it was ok. Food was alright, but definitely a bit interesting. The restaurant is in the back of the store front and overlooks onto a beautiful red rocky canyon area. The restaurant itself is very large. It's a good and interesting spot to stop on a road trip, but nothing special.

I've stopped here one other visit just to use the bathrooms (clean and decent) but this time around I decided to look around. They have items like shirts, shoes, jewelry and knickknacks. There is a little corner that has food/drinks and snacks (got fresh popcorn!) They also have a restaurant in the back (did not check that out). I went to have a look at the jewelry and found some bracelets I was interested in. It was nearly impossible to get someone to help me. They had more than enough employees in the jewelry section but apparently I wasn't their target customer. Everyone around me who was more 'fair' got the attention. I was literally ignored asking for service. Really? A minority is gonna act that way towards another minority? That's fine, I will not shop here if that's how they treat people. Some of us brown folks have money to spend too, you know!

Visiting from Virginia and tried out this spot along the way to visit Antelope Canyon. I loved the view of the restaurant and that it's inside a market. Our servers were also very nice and the decor was traditional -- which I loved. The food was okay. I tried the Navajo Taco and I really wish it came with chicken or something. It really lacked flavor and some seasoning would've taken it a long way. The fry bread was really good though! I'd try a different dish next time, but I'd definitely come back to visit.

This was a recommendation from one of the front desk associates at our hotel when we mentioned we were headed to the Grand Canyon this weekend. We ended up being hungry right around the time we were near here, so decided to stop in. The trading post is beautiful, with lots of stunning handmade crafts. The smells from the restaurant were enticing so we were looking forward to trying it out. That being said, my meal unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. I had the Navajo taco and was really excited about trying it, but found it to be very bland. There was no spiciness (or even much seasoning)- and while I did like the concept of the dish (having never tried it before) I thought the execution was lackluster. My son had a bacon cheeseburger and he actually really enjoyed it- and his fries were perfectly cooked. I didn't take leftovers because I couldn't imagine the fry bread on the taco standing up well to the wet beans/meat and not getting soggy over time. They are charging almost $5 a pop for sodas, which is absurd to me. I told my son to go ahead and try a milkshake instead since they were only a dollar more. He did *really* enjoy the prickly pear milkshake and it seems like a unique menu item which is always fun to find. To me it tasted both sweet and earthy- with almost a veggie-like flavor. Service was just ok. The waitress was not rude, but was a bit abrupt- and she never checked on our meal/food/whether we needed anything else until we were finished eating. If I was back in the area, I'd skip this in favor of trying something new/different.

This is a very good stop to refresh for a drive between Page and Grand Canyon or Williams and also a good place to go back to navajo cuisine roots. We tasted some authentic dishes such as fry bread with beans and prickly pear marinated chicken wings. The service was really great. I think the food can be improved. The prickly pear wings were extremely sour and the navajo taco was lackluster. None of the dishes had an oomph factor. But I do give it stars for trying to be authentic. The seating is very spacious and comfortable.

Stopped here for lunch before entering the Grand Canyon. We got seated just before the huge tourist buses and vans arrived. I didn't love my corned beef hash. The corned beef was cubed and potatoes were underdone. I tasted the fry bread which was delicious. Be prepared that the fry bread is the size of a dinner plate! The husband loved his blue corn pancakes. Our guide gave us a coupon for souvenir shopping. The staff were pleasant and super patient with the tourists counting out their American coins.

Heaven! Omg my Navajo Taco was my favorite meal here on my trip. I hope this place is busy during the day and dinner because it should be. If you love bread and love tacos you need to try this! I was in heaven.

We were in AZ for a concert and decided to visit the Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon on the same trip. We took the Pink Adventure Tour, which was highly recommended by us to save time and hassle, to our destinations. On the way back to Sedona, we stopped by Cameron Trading Post to get the local famous Navajo taco. The restaurant was inside the gift shop and it offered a four-page menu from Novajo taco, burgers, all the way to roast beef dinner. Since we were on a tour van, we just got the Navajo taco and Navajo beef stew. The taco was as big as the size of our face and served on a fry bread. It was pretty bland for us but definitely filled up our stomach. The beef stew on the other hand had a lot of flavors but small in portion. It did come with a fry bread so we were super full after both taco and beef stew. Overall experience was ok. The cashier wasn't very excited to see us, but friendly enough to take our money. We would say though, if you ever pass by Cameron Trading Post, get the food there so you dont have to deal with Burger King in the same area.

A stop while taking the Grand Canyon tour with pink Jeep. I'm so glad they brought us here. Of course we tried the dry bread just like they recommended. It was really tasty. Their food smelled yummy while we waited. We had time to use the restroom and shop some goods. We bought an ornament and a few other goodies that were locally made... not from china. The staff were so helpful and kind. A great spot to stop!

I was looking forward to this fry bread meal my entire trip to Arizona, and I did not disappoint. I ordered a Navajo taco, which comes on fry bread. The Navajo fry bread was airy and soft but held up well under the weight of the need, beans, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and guacamole. On top we're Hatch green chiles. The portion size is so big I couldn't eat it all and took my leftovers home for a late night snack. I always enjoy coming to the trading post for their fry bread, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

This place was awesome! The hotel was clean, the trading post had a lot of cool things. The staff was so friendly! But the food was out of this world. We ate 3 different meals here. You must try the fry bread or get it with a meal, it's out of this world. My husband loved the chili and the Navajo taco. I had the breakfast burrito and the Navajo beef, so delicious. The portions sizes are huge so come hungry!

If you are in the area, food options are limited. The dinning in this post has good options for both lunch and dinner. Most of the entries are available only for dinner (after 4:00pm, reservation time). The food is well portioned, and fairly good price for the area, you can find lunch options anywhere between ~$10-&17. The place it self has a good charm, they have a shop and market in the front side, good for last minute gift shopping and groceries. The dining area is an open space with a beautiful view of the trails behind. It's good for small and large parties.

So, picture this - after an epic day exploring the mind-blowing South Rim of the Grand Canyon, my wife and I stumbled upon the legendary Cameron Trading Post. We'd been seeing those tempting fry bread signs along Highway 89 for ages, and we finally gave in to the mouthwatering temptation. Let me tell you, my mind was already spinning with expectations of the most incredible fry bread ever. Little did I know that Cameron Trading Post would not only meet those expectations but blow them right out of the water! We dove right into the food journey by kicking things off with their massive nacho platter. Seriously, it was a mountain of cheesy goodness. We had to bag some as leftovers because our main dishes arrived faster than lightning! Now, for the real star of the show - we ordered the Navajo Taco and the Navajo Hot Beef. The Navajo Taco was a dream come true - a taco nestled within their heavenly fry bread. But hold on tight, because the Navajo Hot Beef took us by surprise. Sliced beef, onions, and a mouthwatering gravy, all wrapped up in that magical fry bread. It blew our taste buds to a whole new dimension, surpassing our already sky-high expectations. Of course, we couldn't leave without checking out their shopping area. We snagged some awesome dream catchers for our kiddos - they were over the moon! Cameron Trading Post has a fantastic selection of Native American crafts and souvenirs that capture the spirit of the region flawlessly. Now, let's talk about the experience. Loved it! The food was on point, and the atmosphere was just right. Sure, the service was a bit slow, but hey, it was Memorial Day weekend right outside the Grand Canyon - we totally expected it and didn't mind one bit. Oh, and here's the best part - our kids ordered from the kids menu, and guess what? Zero complaints! That's a win in my book. When the little ones are happy, you know you've hit the jackpot. So, here's the deal. If you're passing through or anywhere near the area, you absolutely have to hit up Cameron Trading Post. Trust me, it's worth it. The food will rock your world, and the vibe will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Casual, relaxed, and seriously awesome. I'm giving this place a solid 10 out of 10. Don't miss out!

I stopped here for lunch with a group tour to see the Grand Canyon. It was really cool and interesting to see all of the things the Trading Post had regarding the Navajo Reservation. For lunch, I ordered the BLT Sandwich, which was excellent! They are known for their Navajo Tacos, which a few other people ordered that also looked really good. I definitely recommend coming here!

We had lunch today at the restaurant and it was delicious. My husband and I split the fry bread taco and couldn't eat it all. My granddaughter had the potato skins and shared with all of us and they were delicious as well. It took a little longer than usual for our meals to come out because there were several tour buses there. Also, very reasonably priced! Our total bill for 4 f us was $49. And that included tip!

This place is cool because it was built long ago and it's like eating in a piece of history. I did not like the food here I got their special the taco with Indian fry bread, which was too heavy and the meat inside was too sweet. Just not my thing. The service was OK, not great. The rest of the food that we tried was just OK and I wouldn't go back for the food, outside of the restaurant are many overpriced souvenirs.

Absolutely beautiful hotel room with quality southwest decor. Love the turquoise towels! Fast and friendly checkin and parking at first floor room. I didn't see elevator anywhere for second and third floors but great views from their canyon-side balconies. Very clean but we didn't find the beds very comfortable. The ac unit was more than adequate for our August stay but it was very noisy. Great meals at the large restaurant and plenty of friendly staff to help at the store.

Staff were friendly, breakfast was really good (cool fireplace and view in the cafe) and there were no issues with the room. Only real disappointment was that the store /cafe closes at 8PM, which was unexpected. We didn't really have a view from our room but recommended staying on the back side of the Apache building as there appeared to be a beautiful view from there. Also to note the only other food in proximity is the Burger King up the road which closes at 10PM, which is connected to a small grocery store.

We stopped at the Cameron Trading Post as part of a tour. The gift shop was extensive and full of authentic Native American items like clothes, art, food items and much more. The food at the restaurant was good, not great. Many dishes like fry bread are Native American staples. It was great to see and taste the foods they ate long ago. Fry bread was plain on its own, but dip it in the honey they give you and its amazing! CTP is awesome and definitely worth a visit.

Food was good I tried their beef stew and I liked Nachos weren't the best but the rest was good It was cleaned and very organized Colen was very nice and greeted us from the start Food came out fast so we didn't have to wait long and the place was pretty chill and definitely hoping to have a chance to visit again

Finally stopped here for the first time in April 2024 after passing it on several past road trips just to get a sense of the place. I was not hungry, but noticed there was a fairly long wait for the restaurant, The store is huge, with all types of indigenous Arts- handmade heirloom quality to plastic trinkets. Also a large selection of beverages and snacks to go. I am a knitter, and was delighted to find a large colorful selection of Brown Sheep yarn, spun from AZ sheep in North Dakota. This is the kind of souvenir I enjoy. They also have a website for purchases.

This is a great stop in the middle of nowhere- amazing food and fun shopping. Over 10yrs back, I've stayed here during an impromptu road trip and the rooms were clean and very quaint. On a more recent visit, we were a large group of 10 people but the dining room is big and spacious, with interesting artwork adorning the walls. The menu offers something for everyone but the Fry Bread is a must try! Most items like the tacos or burger have Fry Bread instead of the traditional tortilla or hamburger buns. Be warned though- portions are huge and fry bread does fill you up fast, so sharing might be a good idea. The kiddos in the group ordered some chocolate and strawberry milkshakes - they were absolutely delicious, and definitely reminded me of my childhood. Service is prompt and friendly. The gift shop is filled with cute fun trinkets and curios. Masks are still required everywhere except the dining room. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained with a 5person at a time limit.

Stopped by here on a tour to the Grand Canyon. In the dining room, which is 'through the gift shop,' ordered the Navajo Taco, a taco on top of the famous fry bread I had been hearing about. It was huge, but there was no 1/2 portion or smaller portion available. Not that it was expensive, but rather that the portion was giant, and I had no way to preserve any leftovers. Everyone at my table left a ton of food wasted on our plates. The fry bread was tasty, and I love eating the taco this way, with a fork and knife. We sat at round tables that seated four, in a giant dining room (that resembled a living room to me), with paintings everywhere and windows that looked out over rocks and canyons. The waitress was nice. The gift shop seemed twice as large as the dining area. It was kind of overwhelming, with plenty of products that were NOT made by Native Americans, but made in other countries. You have to look carefully to find locally made items. I ended up purchasing small, locally-made dreamcatchers for my kids, some cool rocks from South America, and a handful of other items that fit my budget. I tried to get a practical item here, but they did not carry dramamine. If there were signs telling me what to bring to the Grand Canyon (motion sickness medicine, carbonated water, extra water, etc), I would have probably purchased something like this here; just an idea. Restrooms were clean; thank you, as this is a popular pit stop for tourists on a Canyon trip.

Such an authentic place to dine in while driving in the middle of nowhere to find decent meals. We had to walk through a gift shop to enter the restaurant. There's Rocky Mountain Views by the window seatings. I enjoyed the fast and friendly service!

Service was slow. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich after one bite I left it and shared my husband's club sandwich. The chicken was rubbery and old.

We are spending the night in the hotel and also had dinner in the restaurant and all I can say is AMAZING! Check in was quick and easy, our hotel room is very large and incredibly clean with very comfortable beds. Everything about this place has been wonderful. Every staff person we met has been extremely friendly, one woman even took the time to teach us some of the Navajo language. The food in the restaurant was superb. I had the Navajo beef stew with fry bread, and my husband had the Navajo burger. Serving portions are huge and everything came out quickly. We also got the fresh guacamole, which was delicious. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's definitely a destination worth the time and effort to get here. The gift shop is very extensive and the prices are quite reasonable. This place is on my "must visit" list! Enjoy!

We spent about 20 min. in the store it was well done and plenty of inventory. I was looking for a scarf for a friend and they were very beautiful. After checking the labels I found out they were made in "China". This is an issue at a trading post. Also if you came on a bus tour you get a discount.

Do stop here if you are passing by, well worth your time. I've stopped several times, but finally ate at the restaurant. The dining room is huge. They seem to limit how many people are seated, as the room seemed quite sparse when we left but there was a long waiting line. The menu has it all from classic favorites to Native American specialties. You will find something that trips your trigger. We all went with items from the Dine specialties, and I had the fry bread. Pretty dang wonderful. The service is extraordinary - our waitress was pleasant yet accommodated 5 separate checks and was very attentive. The bathrooms are spacious and clean, the gift shop huge (you will buy something!) Yes, stop here.

best stop in the southwest after stopping in at almost every gift shop, we finally found this place that was a museum, great food, authentic wide variety of native handcrafted goods.

Great pit stop for food, art, and shopping! Came here for an early dinner and by 6 pm, the place was packed! The dining hall is magnificent; it's large and full of artwork and cultural pieces. You definitely should get something with fry bread--I think the Navajo Taco is what most people gravitate towards, which is delicious, but I thought the hidden gem was the Navajo Hot Beef. It's slathered with a savory beef gravy that soaks into the fry bread, but miraculously just enough to capture the flavor, but not get soggy. I also tried some of the Navajo Beef Stew, which was hearty and delicious, and served with a side of fry bread. Our server was very friendly and attentive, so between the service, ambiance, and great food, I'm not surprised why this place gets some traffic. Definitely worth a stop!

Food and service was great in the restaurant and trading post. However, RV park needs some work. No bathrooms or showers and RV dump is positioned too high for use.

This is a unique experience. The trading has changed over the 20 years that I have known as it. The store is a good example I find that the majority of the items for sale there are no longer Native American, but instead I made in China. Restaurants claims to have the same quality The food is well worth the wait. It is a good example of Navaho cooking.
