My husband and I decided to take advantage of what might be the last perfect autumn day of 2025, so we decided to go to the Willamette Valley wine area and had hoped to go to the Dundee Bistro. Unfortunately, we found out that it was closed, so we researched restaurants in the area and decided upon Camino. Our brunch was a delightful gift! The restaurant is small, and the decor is pleasant. It is what I'd call 'rustic industrial', with metal and re-sourced wood. It was charming. Not your typical Mexican restaurant decor . . . in fact, it reminded us more of a small family-run restaurant in Spain, Italy, or Portugal. It wasn't overdone or frivolous but very tasteful.
The menu offered some of the types of things you would find at a typical Mexican restaurant, but also dishes that we'd never heard of before. The server was very happy to describe each of the dishes we were unsure about. I decided on the Huevos Rancheros, and my husband had the Sojes. I won't go into detail trying to describe them, but they were both delicious and very unique. Don't hesitate to order the chips and salsa - they don't usually serve them - but they are so worth the $6.00 they charge. We couldn't even finish them, and we usually go through a basket and salsa and have seconds!
If you like authentic Mexican food, you've got to try this. They have a limited wine and beer menu, and we are not beer drinkers, so we ordered a Pinot Noir from Carmy Winery that was really good. . . not just good enough - it was good. We'll be looking for it to buy from a distributor.
Service was excellent. The chef even came out to our table towards the end of our meal and asked us what we thought of the food. That doesn't happen often. We'll be back.
