On the Grid : Campagnolo

"Campagnolo opened in 2010 and in our opinion, is one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Known for their top-notch service and ambiance, Campanolgo excels at creating comfort food that your Italian grandma would make. Start with the burrata and end with the salted caramel budino and your senses will thank you." - Sovereign State

Google
Amazing place with its unique atmosphere (the real Old New York), friendly staff led by Frankie, who has worked there for more than 45 years. Pianist deserves additional compliments! Loved that place and definitely will be visiting it at the first chance again.

Google
We dined here on our first night in NY with a very large group, and the staff did an excellent job accommodating us despite the restaurant being on the smaller side. The atmosphere is classic old-school Italian, and the service was outstanding—my wine glass was never empty! The wine selection was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed several bottles of Caymus. Instead of ordering from the menu, we opted for the holiday specials, which included a delicious antipasto plate, fresh salads, incredible homemade ravioli, and an assortment of entrees: steak, fish, and chicken. The steak was massive! To top it all off, the desserts were absolutely divine.

Walk into yesteryear when sophistication and class were in style. Charming Italian decor with wood floors and efficient wait staff. The managers are in suits and a grad piano sits in the entrance area. The bar is set back in time and adds to the overall ambiance. Delight in the restroom attendant who enthusiastically greets his guests. He has an assortment of toiletries to offer. The entrees were perfectly prepared and delicious. We were so happy we chose this place and can’t wait to go back.

Google
Old school Italian with great food, but it's very pricey, particularly the wine. I was surprised when they brought out complementary antipasto along with bread. This was a nice touch. The pastas that we ordered were all delicious. The appetizers were okay, but not anything amazing. The main courses were solid. I think that this is definitely the best Italian restaurant in the area, but you pay for the privilege. It's a place for special occasions.

Google
Highly recommended and memorable meal. Our server, Renato, is the best! He steered us in all the right ways. The rest of the staff were please, quick, very attentive, and professional. We enjoyed a broad feast....the flavors were all exceptional. The charceterie starter was delicious, and we really enjoyed the octopus. For the mains, the Veal chop, and Osso Bucco and the seafood linguini with red sauce were superb. The atmosphere is old, warm, inviting, and turns lively with the piano player. Make reservations. We'll be back forbour next celebration. Enjoy!

Google
We really wanted to love this place but it just didn’t quite hit the mark for us. I had the pasta Puttanesca, the pasta itself was cooked perfectly but the anchovy flavor was way too overpowering and the sauce tasted super salty. My husband had the Ossobuco which unfortunately wasn’t much better. The meat didn’t taste very fresh and the quality wasn’t what we expected. That said, the vibe was great and the service was friendly and attentive. We appreciated the experience overall but the food just didn’t live up to the hype.

Google
The food was very good I had the branzino, and our table shared the dessert - cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake, and tiramisu, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, the service brought the experience down. The servers rushed us through ordering, frequently reached over our heads, and came across as dismissive. While I’d return for the food, I’d hope the service improves.

Google
Just a great old NYC restaurant with amazing everything. Best seafood pasta ever. Same with the veal chop and the Napoleon dessert. Staff was super sweet. The piano player played September Song over and over again, it was kind of cute. High spirited, happy place. Definitely going back!

Yelp
You read the description: Country-style, Italian dining where plates are meant to be shared, and elbows are meant to be touched. You are intrigued. Excuse me sir. May I-- He nods assent. I'm sorry, could you please take off your blazer? He smiles. No need. He lifts up the patch from his coat, revealing the elbow within. You gently touch his nude elbow. Your eyes lock. Your fingers linger, slowly caressing the protruding knob. Such vigorous dexterity, he purrs. Suddenly, a woman approaches you. What do you think you're doing?! No more than three seconds. I'll tell the manager if you two don't knock it off. Startled, you disengage from his lusty flesh. The woman's sleeves drape alluringly, her hippie fringe barely concealing the wonders within. One day, you think, blushing. Soon.

Yelp
Our dining experience felt like the establishment really didn't want us back ever again. We were ushered to our 5pm table in a timely manner - this is the only good thing I can say about the restaurant. The table was cramped with servers constantly roaring by, a noisy birthday party with unruly kids across from us and a fellow diner persistently bumping into my chair. Our waiter sped through the explanation of the specials and attempted to clear our dishes before we were done. As for the food, the linguine and clams was way too salty and the pasta special wasn't that special. To give you a sense of value, we asked for spaghetti and meatballs and were charged $24 for the pasta and $20 for the meatballs ($5 each). STAY AWAY. I have worked and managed restaurants, so I understand how it is a difficult business, so I generally only leave positive reviews and stay silent on not so good experiences, but this is probably only the second negative review that I have ever posted.

Yelp
Came here for NYE and the ambiance was amazing. The service was swift as well as professional. Be sure to get a reservation as it gets busy. We started with a complementary small charcuterie with a few meats, Parmesan, and bread. The cheese is cut fresh right next to the bar. The baked clams were okay, a little too much breading and didn't get much clam inside. The steak was fantastic. Perfectly cooked medium rare and super tender. We ended with a cappuccino that was one of the best Ive ever had. Definitely come for nice dinner out!

Yelp
I love the cocktails here, and the bartender is always amazing! Really nice place, and a fun time since everyone's always so friendly!

Yelp
Very homey Italian food with great ambiance, exceptional service, and overall fun vibes! Would love to go back here!

Yelp
food atmosphere service was all outstanding. Of course if your from Oklahoma and you know the old OU football coaches it helps'

Vincy L.

Yelp
What's the fuss about? I love their piano performance more than their foods. The food is decent nothing outstanding. I do like the ambiance. It's pleasant overall, a good place to gather with family and friends.

Yelp
If you're into old school NYC restaurants where it's cool to see and be seen and you love when the matre d remembers you even though he fakes it, this place might be great for you. But if you care about good food, take a pass. This place has an old school NYC Italian vibe, with a very busy staff working hard to bring food to tables. They have the *worst* beer selection, which indicates exactly how much they care about the burgeoning craft beer scene and the interests of their customers. The menu is promising but the food is sloppily prepared despite the prices being on the very high end for the style of cuisine. A $15 chopped salad I shared with my wife was a tiny mini-mound of overdressed lettuce (attached). It would cost zero dollars to make this a good salad. My shrimp was overcooked and meager for $35. My wife's $38 veal was tough and my sister-in-law's chicken was a small portion for $35. I could keep going around the table, but suffice it to say, it was all disappointing. Overall, this is the typical NYC place that is coasting on it's reputation but the food is clearly lagging their reputation. But this restaurant survives because there are people who don't give a crap about the food and just want to go to a fancy "name" restaurant. Avoid if you actually care about food.

Yelp
The best Italian spot (even over Boston's north end). I got the pasta sampler and it was to die for. I also have never experienced more effective and kind service. The place is so cute, your typical NYC old school restaurant so the tables are very close together but there was a piano player that made for a great experience. Blessed Campagnola is in my neighborhood!

Cal R.

Yelp
Food was average price was very expensive pizza so so service was very spotty I Percy wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.

Perri F.

Yelp
Service was slow; the dishes were mediocre ie little to no sausage in the orecchiette pasta dish, salty veal saltimboca & the seafood pasta was sent back because what was supposed to be marinara sauce was not (but spicy). No special accommodation was made (yes of course taken off the bill). Waiter was not accommodating nor was the manager. Couldn't believe the service especially when manager said the dish was not supposed to be spicy. The wine selection not great and we paid $95-which was the least expensive bottle-for a $16 bottle! All in all the dinner experience and the dinner was sub par. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Best kept secret in town. Ok well maybe it's not a secret. The food was delicious true Italian old school. For starters they serves a lovely plate of salami, pecorino cheese, olives and bread. The salad was very fresh & good octopus. Our belly's were full by the time our mains arrived but hey, we had to try them anyway. I brought 1/2 of mine home while hubby ate his full dinner. Def will go back! The Linguini and clams were delish! The stuffed squash blossoms were fresh and filling. Our server was so kind and attentive. He even brought us little dessert cookies at the end. We will come back for

Yelp
What a strange, strange experience. Arrived on time for our reservation, felt immediately as if we were inconveniencing staff with our presence. We asked for more Parmesan slices and our server literally said no. They couldn't get us out of there fast enough. My husband got the orecchiette with sausage and it was a kids meal with practically no sausage. Food was fine, but the service was pretty bad. We have both worked in the restaurant industry and felt pretty dismissed as customers. They also confiscated our olive oil which was weird. We are grateful for the funny story this will be, but felt compelled to let others know they can do way better with Italian food in the city.

Andrea T.

Yelp
Very disappointed with our experience. We had just been seated for our 6pm reservation, and literally within seconds were asked what we were drinking. We requested a few more moments to settle in first. We ordered drinks and our meals simultaneously, and were served way too fast for our liking. At this point, we definitely felt rushed and unappreciated. We each ordered appetizers, and entrees off the " Specials Board". The bill was ridiculously high, but what stands out is the CHEESE ravioli (6 pieces) for $45! I mean, come on, really? Every table seemed to have been occupied, and our table for 2 could have easily been a table for 4, because that's how close we were seated to one another. With so many restaurants, I have no need to return here. My final recommendation; SKIP IT. Take away... too rushed too cramped too expensive food mediocre

Ada G.

Yelp
Food ,service.ambiance flawless. We were party of 4 .behind happy with food and service. We sure are returning

Yelp
Reservations are a must at this bustling upscale Italian restaurant located in the Upper East Side of NYC. We were presented with a plate of bread with olives, salami and cheese which was a treat. I had the Linguine con Vongoli $31.95. The clams and sauce was delicious but the pasta was just too Al dente for me. I felt it should have been cooked longer. Service was very good.
google avatar

Lily T.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time here. This place sure isn't budget friendly but the atmosphere is lively. There was a piano player on the night we were there and the service was also good. We had the linguine with claims and the porterhouse. Both were excellent. Crowds were a bit older and classy One thing I have to say though, this place got extremely packed on a random weekday night during dinner hours, the tables were also extremely cramped together to the point we were bumping into the tables next to us. Also to get to the bathroom, expect to elbow people crowding over the bar area. So if you are COVID conscious, this isn't your place. Overall we had a lovely time here and would recommend this place.

Yelp
Campagnola is an iconic Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side of New York City. It has been serving fabulous Italian cuisine for over 30 years, perhaps longer, but I've been going for at least thirty. Campagnola is a vibrant spot. You'll likely see a celebrity or two, both from Hollywood and most certainly the New York sports teams and some visiting while playing here. The restaurant is headed by the fabulous Frankie D', whose held fort for as long as I've been going. It's an amazing place and always a fun and wonderful culinary experience.

Yelp
I went to Campagnola last night with my boyfriend to celebrate our 8 year anniversary. When we arrived we were asked if we would like to check in our coats, we declined. Then the waiter proceeded to take us to our table. The table was by the stairs to the bathroom & the space was pretty tight. My boyfriend is 6ft and I could tell he felt squished. The space is not enough for two people to sit comfortably, that should be revised. Looking back I should've definitely said something because we deserved better especially since we were celebrating our anniversary. We were started with a free charcuterie plate that had amazing salami & cheese. I really enjoyed it! We also asked for a bottle of Prosecco that was also yummy. The only downfall with that was that it was placed far from us so we couldn't serve ourselves as we pleased & the waiters were hard to flag down. For our appetizer we had the fried calamari, it came with the best fresh tasting marinara. Then for our entrees I had the chicken parmigiana & my boyfriend had the spaghetti bolognese. The chicken parmigiana is not on the menu but they were happy to make it, it did not come with a side I should've asked for some pasta to accompany it. My boyfriend shared his spaghetti bolognese with me, it was tasty & perfectly al dente. For dessert we opted for the chocolate cake. It was more of like a hard mousse, but it was very rich & the strawberries it came with were a great addition. Overall we had a pretty good time but if I'm honest I'm not sure I would return. Don't get me wrong the food is good but I felt something was off. Starting with the table we were sat at, to the lack of service our table was receiving in comparison to the table that was right next to us. My boyfriend was constantly trying to get the waiters attention. We were the only POC in the establishment so that definitely made me reflect more on our experience.

Yelp
If you're looking for a comforting, amazing Italian food definitely make a stop here. This restaurant has been around for over 37 years and you can just feel how warm and welcoming the restaurant is. The staff treat you like family and they take good care of you. Highly recommend to make a reservation if you can, they are only open for dinner and it's busy here for sure! As for the food, just pure excellence! From the starters of complimentary bread, salami, cheese, and olives it sets the tone for the night already. Order the fried calamari, shrimp scampi, baked clams, and the crab cakes! They are SOOOO good! Next for entrees we had a pasta sampler of mushroom ravioli, gnocchi, and i forgot the other two but they were all good! I'm glad it was a sampler so I could taste everything. But wait, there's more. Haha. Then we had Branzino done two ways. One with the traditional capers and the other with Olive oil and tomato. Both versions were so good and so flavorful. Highly recommend ordering that as well. And lastly, we had lamb chops. Oh my gosh, these melted in my mouth and one of the best lamb chops I've ever had! There were also sides of vegetables serviced and a fried potato pancake like and those were just as good! I was for sure after all of that food, but the star of the night was the dessert sample tray. It's MASSIVE! But it has a little bit of everything! Sorbet, napaleon and more. Great way to end an epic meal. Highly recommend this place and take your time to enjoy the food, the company, and enjoy!

Yelp
The ravioli was so good here and the bread is delightful. But the spinach was delish. The service was incredible.

Yelp
Campagnola is a glimpse of New York from a time in the past. Old paintings and other artifacts adorn the walls, the lighting is dim, and the clientele looks to be mostly regulars. The servers do their best to ensure you have a positive experience and I believe the food is of high quality. When you sit down they give you a plate of bread, assorted olives, Parmesan (the good stuff!) and salami on the house. This is quite generous as many restaurants these days charge for bread and those that still offer it complimentary definitely don't give you anything this extravagant with it. Caesar salad- the salad was nicely dressed, not smothered in dressing. The dressing was flavorful and not too creamy or gloopy. Veal Milanese- I asked for veal scallopine Milanese and was very pleased with what I received. The order came with two thin veal cutlets topped with a lightly dressed arugula salad with cherry tomatoes. Chicken scarpariello- I was very impressed by this dish. The sausage was to die for, the chicken was roasted (I believe) and not overcooked. Overall, a true star. Very happy with it. Peach sorbet- To finish off the meal we tried a peach stuffed with peach sorbet. The sorbet was very creamy and it was fun that it was served in a peach half. Dinner at Campagnola will cost you a pretty penny. If you are looking for a spot to celebrate a special occasion, check out Campagnola.

Yelp
This place is a nyc staple. Is it inexpensive? No. Is it worth it? Yes. The restaurant is beautiful, seasonally decorated, frequently has a live piano player, very attentive service, large menu, all the dishes are always fantastic. This is a great spot for an anniversary, birthday, work dinner- would recommend eating in bs take out bc the experience is a part of the appeal

Matthew M.

Yelp
Came here for an anniversary dinner after looking for a classic, romantic setting. We were happy with the food and atmosphere (there was a pianist, even on a Sunday evening!) They have don't have a cocktail menu but have a full bar and we enjoyed our Moscow mule and gin martini. I recommend!
google avatar

Monisha R.

Yelp
The first time I came to Campagnola was in 2019. It was terrific. The food was excellent, the service was amazing, they offered us some free snacks and drinks to taste. Overall, a wonderful family-style and cozy vibe. The second time was this year during Valentine's Day and the food was fine, but not worth the extremely high price, and the service was absolutely terrible. They were pushy, had no patience for my questions about the wine, basically told me that two wines taste "exactly the same" so it doesn't matter which one I get and they were pressuring us to order more food. It also kind of felt like they were hovering to see when we were finished. Wouldn't come back.
google avatar

Beth R.

Yelp
Campagnola Offered a wide variety of perfectly prepared Italian foods. In my opinion, eaten is always the best option as food is the highest quality when it is served fresh from the pan. Delivery can alter the consistency of the food. However, I have ordered takeout from here. I was not disappointed. If you're in the area, I highly recommend.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
Can't way enough about this Amazon go little place. From the people to the food, to the service. Everything was incredible. We ordered a lot... from oysters to octopus salad to veal and osco bucco. Nothing was less that excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this spectacular place!!!

Lu I.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered penne vodka and bolognese and we were both shocked about how bland and flavorless the food was. It was grossly overpriced for the quality.
google avatar

Hank K.

Yelp
What a great little spot, some of the best parm I've had in my life. Don't skip out on dessert I recommend the cheesecake. Prices are expensive, but worth it!
google avatar

Ingrid A.

Yelp
Since the minute I stepped into New York several years ago, this was the restaurant that stood out for me. I felt like I had stepped back in time where the goodfellas might have sat right next to politicians and beside Frank Sinatra and his boys. It reminds you of old New York when crime wasn't tolerated and crime rates were down unless you messed with the mob. Now to the food. Everything here is delicious. Everyone takes care of you here. And if you're lucky, they'll get to know you very well, so well that they'll take away your menu while you're reading it and tell you what you should really order. Funny thing is, they always nail it. Although if they do that, you better be ready to pay a nice penny. You can't go wrong with any pasta dish, and definitely do not leave without their napoleon and I still have dreams of their lobster dishes. I dream of it all the time.
google avatar

Larry K.

Yelp
A successful and game-changing conference at the United Nations deserves and outstanding celebration and Frankie D and the folks at Campagnola certainly delivered. I had a reservation for four, which turned into five, which turned into eight - and they handled the changes with ease. Great wine, amazing pesto gnocchi, the largest veal I've had, perfectly cooked grilled steak and a dessert tray that was out of this world. And the service was stellar. Thanks to Frankie D and all for making this a memorable evening.

Myriam L.

Yelp
The food was good but over priced and they are a little condescend screaming my name to tell me my card was denied and it was not true
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
OMG, visiting NYC to see relatives, we went here. I got the pasta and after three bites found a long black hair. Told the waiter, he ACCUSED me of planting it. I am 60 and nearly bald. my family and friends who were with me are older, and dont have long hair. He then said we did it because of some publicity the restaurant had. Told him I was from out of town and didn't know what he was talking about. Neither did our family who lives here. He just laughed and said a few words I won't repeat and told us to leave. I googled the place later and I see what he meant but I don't care about politics, I care about a good meal at a good price! This is not a place I will return to

Holly D.

Yelp
Went here last night for a belated birthday dinner. Food was excellent, service great. But very very crowded and they were trying to rush us-why? Because twice they took things from the table that were not done yet. A pasta dish that was 2/3 finished-but there was still enough there, and my friends drink that was 2/3 done. It was so fast we did not even see the server do this! Love this place, food delicious, festive, piano player lovely-but please WAIT for us to finish our meals before taking them from the table! My pet peeve!!
google avatar

Yelp
What a wonderful dining experience at Campagnola Restaurant! Although we had reservations, we did have to wait a while prior to being seated. We were fine with that - no need to get uptight, we just grabbed a cocktail by the bar and enjoyed the view! Fun place to people watch! We got wonderful seating in the back by the kitchen in a corner booth that was super cute, and worth the wait! We started out with the crab cake - it was delicious, but to our disappointment, very small and just one. Not taking off any stars for that because the service and our entree were the stars of the night! Edison, our server, was a true professional. He takes pride in what he does and it shows! From start to finish he never skipped a beat, and it was a busy night! The Dover Sole .... Wow get it!!! Melts like butter in your mouth and seasoned to perfection (check out my pics of it!). My friend is a copy cat so he ordered what I did too lol. For sides i got sautéed spinach (big portion and sooo goood) and my friend the grilled asparagus. We washed it down with a bottle of Cakebread Pinot Noir and sparkling water. We ended with the Napoleon - fresh, simple, and delicious! You are very welcome! Cheers to health, life, and good eats! Buon apetit!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant, if you like quality service and quality food this is the place. From the Salami and Bread to the mouth watering Pasta's. The veal oso buca was cooked perfectly. Whenever we are in town we will go here.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Amazing food, ambience and staff!!! Definitely want to go back again. Loved their sizzling T-Bone steak!

Jon S.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this classic Italian restaurant. This is the best pasta sampler in the city and probably the best vodka sauce in the city as well. Everything was wonderful and there service is great. Go primetime on a weekend night with friends who like classic Italian reimagined. Ravioli porcini also to die for.
google avatar

Liam R.

Yelp
Could've, should've been much better but the services are poor across the board. The food was over-salted to the point that it was akin to salt-water in my plate. And, the soup was under-seasoned. Not sure what's happeend to this place but it was not a good meal anymore. The services also felt half-hearted and not very interested in my enjoyment or experience in the restaurant. I will not return, and suggest you do not either.

Paul M.

Yelp
1. Do not take a table outside. Took 20 min for anyone to come to table. 30 min to be served a salad and over an hour for 2 pasta dishes 2. food rating at best 6.5/10 Many many many more choices in NYC and therefore this one should be passed. Visiting from SF and previous lived in NY. Definitely not the calabre I'm used to. Paul

S C.

Yelp
Had dinner here last night, let me start by saying the food is good but.... We order two apps and were charged $10 to serve it in four plates, ordered ravioli for us to share and was given two orders that came out to $80 yes $80 for ravioli. We spent $600 for a good Italian dinner not an exceptional dinner, I can say I won't be going back.

Yelp
Classic NYC upscale Italian. Campagnola is not trendy. On the contrary, Campagnola has been at this location for years and caters to a clientele who is in the know about the classy, club like atmosphere and quality food. Indeed when I attempted to get reservations in Open Table a few days before our NYC arrival, there was not a reservation available except for very late on a Saturday night. At the airport I decided to call and give it a last minute shot. Score! Not only did Campagnola have a time available at 6:30 pm, but when we arrived it was one of the best tables in the house (for my taste anyway!): A quiet round table for four, in the back corner. If you like more hustle and bustle, I suggest sitting towards the front where you can hear the piano player. Drinks orders were taken immediately. A complimentary antipasto plate arrived. Our server then showed us the chalk board full of specials. Tip: Do not hesitate to take a picture of the specials board as there are lots of specials and you will not remember them all. Items we ordered included: Caesar Salad Chopped Salad Vongole Oreganata Mussels Mariniere Crab Cake Pollo Gizmonica (Chicken Special) Linguine con Vongole Linguine al Frutti di Mare Everything was fresh and delicious. The Crab Cake was almost all crab, no filler. I think my favorite dish might have been the mussels. I am not.usually a huge mussel fan but these were small and the sauce was just divine. Dishes came out at a nice pace and we did not feel rushed. I thought the prices were fair (especially for NYC!) The menu has no earth shattering or truly creative dishes. But for traditional Italian, meat, seafood, it's more than solid...and you don't have to leave the UES!
google avatar

Ruby K.

Yelp
came w a big group, ordered a bunch of dishes to share. i am officially a converted camp fan! we got -pesto gnocchi (the sauce!!! OMG) -penne vodka (wish there was more sauce, pasta doesn't taste like it was made in-house) -pappardelle bolognese (good, homemade pasta) -chicken piccata -veal milanese -steak w peppercorn (AMAZING!!!) -orecchiette pasta w broccoli and sausage (the sauce was similar to the vodka sauce) -dessert platter -eggplant rollatini this spot has phenomenal red sauce! service was great, some items on the menu were better than others. the dessert tray was incredible, i liked the tiramisu and the gelato the most! will certainly be back

Yelp
Frankie is a magician! A black belt at what he does. We felt taken care of, like family, and given first class service! Oh and the food...simply the best! Do not write this one off! A true gem. An experience like none other! Thank you Frankie!

Yelp
Totally amazing Resturant, the appetizers, ravioli and fish were all perfectly prepared.

Yelp
My first time here and I'm in love, with the food the people and the whole restaurant itself. Such a warm ambience. As soon as you sit, you get a cheese platter w bread some salami and olives. I had baked clams and the burrata first. Tasty and fresh. We got assorted best pastas on our plates. I really liked the pesto gnocchi! Then had steak and potato's, veggies. The chicken parm was delicious and lacked no salt and cheesy goodness. I was pleased with all the plates. Our dessert platter with 4 different desserts. Aside from our shots taken at the table.. Oh I loved it, taste of every delicious item made it even better for me! So worth it. Our waiter was the bomb his name was Andres. Super friendly and attentive to all your needs. Thank you! I'll definitely be back for more Italian food...

Yelp
I ordered vodka chicken parm and it was life changing. I'll be ordering this every time I come back (it's an off the menu item btw they'll make it if you request it)

Yelp
The moment we walked in we were greeted by the manager and asked to provide proof of vaccination. The staff is very friendly and they are willing to accommodate you as much as possible when ordering and substituting items on the menu. This is a local must on the Upper East Side if you are in the mood for Italian food that will trick your taste buds into thinking you are eating at your grandma's house. The ambiance is old school but very warm and welcoming. We went for my 38th birthday dinner and they had a singer performing which is pretty common for this venue.

Yelp
Went for the first time on 3/23 and it was absolutely wonderful. Campagnola embodies everything you'd want from an old school, Italian NYC restaurant. They are quite generous as evidenced by the bottomless antipasto plates, a unanimously attentive wait staff and the fact that they refilled our wine and brought us limoncello without asking AFTER we paid the bill! This place is pure class and I can't wait to bring my friend from Boston who loves Italian food and The Sopranos. -Antipasto: some of the best dry, crumbly cheese I've ever eaten -Tricolore pasta: amazing as advertised; I think the move is to get this for yourself with a meat on the side -Chicken parm: delectable, could have been a bit thicker -Vodka penne: very good; we split this and the Tricolore but as I mentioned I would probably stick with a solo Tricolore next time -Napoleon (dessert): this thing was unreal!
