The Best Restaurants At LAX - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"LAX is home to several what we call “zombie concepts”—places where the original LA location has closed and the restaurant only lives on at the airport. Campanile, a famous California cuisine spot that finally closed in 2012, is the oldest of them all. The menu is peak '90s with it cobb salads and grilled salmon with farro, but if you’re looking for a safe bet go with the roasted turkey breast sandwich with white cheddar and garlic aioli. Be sure to splash on some of the imported Italian hot sauce they put on the tables, too." - brant cox, sylvio martins

We have just stayed in this hotel, and our experience was quite good. Great location as you step out of the metro and the hotel is in front of you. The hotel is in the middle of a big roundabout, but you can't hear the traffic in the rooms. It is a long way from the centre of Paris, but the metro is very good. Staff on the whole are pleasant and helpful. We di find the evening staff better than the morning ones. We did have a couple of issues, blocked toilet (fixed immediately), broken fan reported in the morning still not replaced by nighttime, staff moved us to another room as our original room was so hot. The rooms are small, but have a very large bed, which is very comfortable. Yes the rooms are dated and need refreshing, but are clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on 2 nights, great buffet. Unfortunately breakfast was not so good, scrambled eggs and sausages was cold. Also be aware that when we were there the restaurant didn't open on a Saturday and Sunday evening. The bar area is really nice and relaxing. For us the biggest problem was there was no air conditioning and you cannot open the windows for safety reasons. We were in Paris during a heat wave, and the hotel provided fans. For the price, this is a reasonable hotel, yes rooms need refreshing, but are comfortable.

I wasn't going to write a comment, but after the situation in the hotel canteen I changed my mind. There's a lot of it. First of all: the hotel rooms are very dirty. The carpet is stained, the furniture is damaged. The bathroom tiles are yellow from dirt. The shower is damaged. When we arrived at the hotel room it was stuffy and hot. The window wouldn't open. Central air conditioning with no way to regulate the temperature. I was informed that the air conditioning wouldn't be turned on because there was no employee who could do it. Really?! It was 38C outside. The air conditioning was only turned on in the evening and only worked in the evenings and very poorly. And now the situation in the canteen. Our group entered the canteen at the agreed time and my friend received information from the employee that we had to leave. When asked why, she heard: "What don't you understand? Get out of here!" She started to block her by waving her hands in front of her face. Then the group heard racist insults addressed to them. Nowhere in the world in any hotel have I encountered such a lack of culture and xenophobia. The cafeteria worker refused to apologize to our group even after the manager intervened. After all this I strongly advise against visiting this hotel! Are you basing this on the fact that it is close to a metro station? The metro does not operate in this location.

Two night stay and just what we wanted. Close to ring road but couldn’t hear traffic in rooms. Easy parking and right next to metro. Metro is currently closed but there is a free replacement bus to Republique. Rooms clean and comfortable. Given price and location was everything we expected.

I think the negative reviews should temper their expectations a little - the rooms offered have an extremely affordable rate for such an expensive city. Comparing the rooms to prison cells is silly, unless perhaps fancy Norwegian prison cells. The room was relatively clean and I found the bed very comfortable. While the location isn't especially central, the Gallieni stop being within a 30 second walk of the exit of the hotel more than made up for it, and we were able to get anywhere in Paris within 40 minutes by metro. This is definitely a great option for visitors with tighter budgets.

Would never return to this hotel! ||Firstly arrived with my partner for a 3 night stay for a birthday treat at Paris. Reception staff spoke French and English but were extremely rude. Advised when booking in, they do not have a room available for us. The room booked had already been given out we were told ? ||I politely asked why and if this could please be looked into. The manager came over and advised the staff to just cancel our booking. His manager was not only rude, but loud and harsh. ||This is where I got upset. The manager continued to state because myself and wife are both female, we will not need a double bed and a separate twin room would be fine. However again advised no rooms available. ||Lucky, the staff member could see the look of distress being 7pm at night with no alternative hotels available, he managed to find us a room (we think it was a family room they give, as it had a double and single bed within it).||Once we finally got checked in, the carpet within the room had allot of large stains over it. Rooms are extremely small. Use of telephone for reception in an emergency does not work in floor 600 so not as easy to just run downstairs if needed. No iron available. Hotel is used for allot of school trips, so over 200/300 students were at the hotel making it very loud overnight. Shouting, partying and dancing entering in and out of each other’s rooms. Staff not willing to help. ||Only saving grace was the location of this hotel. Metro literally 2 seconds walk. Mc Donald’s / supermarket and other food places very close by. ||Overall, due to the staffs / managers rude, abrupt and dismissive behaviour I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Asked multiple times if we had a problem for apparently “staring” at them. Our toilet in the hotel room blocked 3 times and overflowed onto bathroom floor. One staff in particular seemed as though she had an issue with us for no reason whatsoever we came in for every meals greeting them with bonjour and still got rude glances. On our last night we had burgers and mine was pink ish red inside so I didn’t feel comfortable eating it and when she came to collect my plate she threw her hands up rolled her eyes twice because I didn’t finish it . Would not recommend .

If you are thinking about coming here, don’t. The rooms have damaged carpets and furniture and are the dirtiest thing I’ve ever seen and after the cleaners came in there was clumps of hair on my bed and blood on my friends. This wasn’t even the worst part, the food was inedible and the meat was raw. The only good meal was breakfast but all of the food was freezing cold anyway. Worst of all the staff were horrible, they were accusing all my friends of pointing at them being rude and even looking at them weirdly and one came over and asked “what’s ur problem”. Who would be that rude to ask it like that they could have said it nicely if they thought we did. Even when we were being rlly nice and saying bonjour to them every meal they just kept giving us horrible looks. One of them had a problem with everyone and was rude to every student there from the very beginning even tho we did nothing wrong. Last night the meat was raw and all of us didn’t eat it so she came behind us and gave us such dirty looks and started having a go at us even tho we said thank you. She even flung someone’s knife on the floor and didn’t say sorry or even pick it up. She was just rude to everyone there and would never come here and is not recommended. Ask anyone.

ROOM Me and my friends went to this hotel for a school trip to France so of course we wouldn't have a great hotel but that doesn't change the fact that I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND. First of all we arrived to are room (we were staying in for 3 nights) with 3 singles to see there was no fan in are room, unlike every other room are classmates were staying in. There was: -stains on the beding -carpet -holes in the walls -dirt all over the bathroom tiles -worsted of all pubes on the bed ROOM SERVICE Then my friend went down to reception around 20 minutes after we got there to ask the woman there where she could get a fan because the ventilation was awful and the window wouldn't open. She said she would get someone to come up to give us a fan. Then around 20 minutes later she went down again to ask when it would arrive. She said she'd get them to bring it up in a bit. My friend asked the first time around 6pm and asked 7 times till 8pm ( not a over exaduration), when I went down with her. This time she told us the worker who was meant to bring us the fan wasn't in work so he or she couldn't bring it. It was boiling that night and I had to sleep with no quilt because it was way to warm. FOOD & STAFF Then at dinner the food was basically the same food every night and same for the breakfast. The meat was cold and the staff would watch you like a haulke to make sure you only touched the food you were going to eat. One of my friends put 3 brownie on her plate with the utensil provided to scoop it up but see decided that was to much so she picked it up with her fingers and put it back on the dish of brownies. She sat down but then one of the staff towers over her and shouted at her in front of everyone in the cafeteria. THE MANAGER Later on, on the second night when we were going to dinner I forgot my key card in my room so after dinner we went to the reception to ask for a spear card to get into our room. The man who I'm assuming was the manager shouted at me "you kids are filling up this hotel and so many of you have already left your cards in your room!". Why was it all my fault my school and other schools left there key card in there room ( which was a common mistake since we e always were rushing to go to activities) IDK. he made it out to me like he was mad at me because of other people forgetfulness. Fair enough if I was always loosing my key but it was the first and last time I did. He then gave me my key card which took to second. All he did was ask me for my room number and he typed it into a computer then scanned a card (like how you would in a shop). He told me to bring it back after and I did within about 10 minutes. When I went back down he was shouting at a teacher from another school and I gave h the card and didn't say anything to me. THE ELEVATORS There was not enough elevators for the hotel at all and the stairs went on forever. There was 700 rooms and 3 elevators. The elevators were tiny only 4 people could fit in with luggage and they would always stop on floors you didn't click the button for. THE POSITIVES The mirror in the bathroom was amazing and the food was decent especially the dessert even though it was the same every day. There was a shopping center right next to it even though the area it was in was roof and had graffiti everywhere.
