NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"There’s another option for an easy meal in Greenpoint, and it’s the second location of Campbell & Co. (the first is in Williamsburg). You can get a breakfast biscuit, or a ham and cheese on a pretzel hero roll for lunch here, and they also cater." - will hartman

We ordered sandwiches in this cute little shop and they were excellent. We tried the Italian, the Spicy Turkey Melt plus the Ham & Cheese, the bread they use is so good! They also have a lot of food and gift items in their store. I'd love to try more things on their menu in the future. There are a few spots inside to eat, however no public restroom!

i was eating at 3 michelin star restaurants in the south of france 2 weeks ago, yet this surpasses anything that i ate. that buttermilk biscuit bacon egg & cheese with sweet sorghum butter was truly the greatest sandwich to ever enter my mouth. so good i ordered another one after.. if i lived in brooklyn this place could single handedly make me obese and end my career as a model/actor. With pain in my heart I’m writing this review… I lived next door for 6 years and have come back a few times since moving, but this week will probably be my last visit. I ordered a cappuccino and I know Campbell is pricey (even by NYC standards), so that’s not the issue. But getting a lukewarm, super milky drink with no latte art, barely any coffee taste, just steamed milk with maybe a whisper of espresso? 😭 It honestly made me sad. I used to see the quality I was paying for, but not anymore. To top it off, the people behind the counter were rude… So yeah, $7 all in for this? No thank you.

Google
Nice space selling freshly made food a wide variety of specialty items. It comfortable. The people are nice. They make a good basic espresso. Thank you for making this a homey environment.

Google
Very cute staging! The walls are lined with local packaged and whole foods mostly to do with sandwich making, and coffee coffee making; but also some produce. I loved hanging out on the benches outside with my coffee, the ‘vibes’ are welcoming! I LOVED the grilled cheese with bacon and fig. The sourdough was crisped, the fig spread took the lead flavor as expected and the bacon was thickly cut and not providing too much oil. Just a win all around. I did not like my tuna sandwich. I loved all the ingredients, capers, olives, white beans, etc. But, the ciabatta bread was too overwhelming and for a $13 sandwhich I really expected it to be larger, with more tuna, more capers. Like a thick sandwhich but instead it was really a snack. Service was good and I recommend stopping by!

I have never felt more compelled to leave a 5-star review for a place before! I ordered their pickup catering for a bridal shower I was hosting and was absolutely blown away, not just by how good the food was, but also by the attention to detail. Cute edible flowers interspersed in the arrangements, and even a custom menu displaying everything I ordered so that guests could know what everything is! Will definitely be using their catering service again, ordering was a breeze and pickup was hastle-free!

Google
Hands down the best sandwich I have ever tried in my life. The turkey sandwich literally melts in your mouth and is an explosion of flavors! Don’t be in a rush when you come here because it’s made to order and it will take some time, but I promise it is well worth the wait! Grab some chips and a drink and dive in!!

Google
This adorable little grocery was the perfect blend of my husband and my favorite two things…coffee and cheese. Get a latte and some nibbles and sip it out at the curbside tables. The Camembert cheese is to die for. There are so many unique and interesting things available, definitely worth a stop here. We made it a point to come back and stock up on cheeses for home. Will be back!

Yelp
Great spot. We waited at the window for a minute but then decided to go inside. Order was slightly messed up but we made some trades and everyone was happy. This was one of our Williamsburg friend's favorite breakfast spots. Breakfast Biscuit Sandwiches: As someone from the south, these are quite good. My friend ended up with jalepenos on her BEC but didn't want them and I LOVE jalepenos so I took hers. Yum New Experience: Black Sesame Latte 10/10 - didn't look at the nutrition facts but so damn good Ambiance: Really cool and fun store for kids to get - think wax bottles / candy corn / ring pops. Also great selection of beer. Try a Westbrook White Thai!

Yelp
Great little sandwich and grocery store! I ordered a roast beef sandwich and iced tea. Both were great and I really loved the bread on the sandwich. This shop offers some benches for dining outdoors and one common area table inside the shop. They have a lot of great sandwich options, give them a try!

Yelp
This has become a wonderful Sunday morning tradition for me. I've loved this little spot for years but hadn't visited it nearly enough. Then one day last Winter I went for a coffee and pastry and haven't stopped. The staff are the kindest humans who are very helpful. The food is delicious. From their hot food to their pastry case, you can't go wrong! In addition, don't sleep on their groceries! Many delish cheeses, breads, and other snacks! A must go in Williamsburg!

Yelp
I walked in and got the beer cheese spread, and artisan bread. I thought they were a good compliment of each other. The beer cheese spread has a really strong beer flavor though, and not enough cheese. The bread was nice and fresh, still soft on the inside. The service was great and quick. The inside is pretty small, but has a lot to offer. They also make sandwiches and soup!

Yelp
Their breakfast biscuit sandwiches are amazing! I always walk by this place and see a lot of locals here so I wanted to see what the hype was. I tried the green goddess and omg, their biscuit is perfectly buttery and flakey. I'll definitely be back! Plus they have so many cute picnic items at this little grocery.

Yelp
Came here to get a macchiato, and as I was ordering- the espresso lemonade caught my eye. The macchiato was good, but the espresso lemonade changed my life. The espresso lemonade was pretty great for me because I don't have much of a sweet tooth The cheen mixed with lemonade is a very refreshing beverage, while only being slightly sweet. And the lemonade is kinda like a sugar in a cheen plus some acidity. Altogether it makes for a complex taste beyond your classic sour/sweet lemonade So glad that they have espresso on their sign or else I might not have stopped at the order up window

Yelp
Breakfast sandwich was very savory. latte well just delicious and staff was really friendly. I pass this place every day on my way to work. Never noticed it was more than a grocery store. I definitely will return.

Yelp
I really liked Campbell Cheese & Grocery! This place has been around since '13, and it's a sister-run place! This cute little shop gives off total Brooklyn neighborhood vibes with a nice little grocery section, specialty items, a kitchen area that serves up sandwiches, salads, and coffee, and they also have gifting and catering options, too. We stopped by to just grab an Americano (nice and strong!). While we waited for the order, perusing through the store was such fun. While there's no seating inside, there were tables and a bench outside, by the walk-up window. I can see how this place is popular with the locals, as they were constantly getting orders! I'd love to return to try their breakfast/lunch menu. Friendly service! +cute specialty grocery store +good strong Americano +outdoor seating available +friendly service!

Yelp
Decent outdoor dining setup. Worst cookie I ever had in my life. If you want to know what mulch tastes like, their dark chocolate cookie will satisfy your earthly craving. Waste of $4.

Yelp
Store is too focused on being "cute" rather than delivering quality food products. All the sandwiches that we had were disappointing. The "Italian" was made with a mixture of meat that was obviously old -- I guess they don't sell much meat. The avocado sandwich was inedible -- the bread was thick and the avo was too brown. Other sandwiches weren't any better.

Baska K.

Yelp
Consistently good coffee, decaf espresso-based drinks, which is rare is enough for me to keep coming back. Everything else is as tasty as it gets. I was never disappointed with anything from Campbell's.

Yelp
I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place. They have a very unique assortment of hard-to-find grocery items, and the prepared food is incredible. I'm a southerner, so I was excited to see pimento cheese on the menu in the Chicken Pimento Sandwich. They made the genius choice to add sliced apple and arugula to the sandwich, which cuts the heaviness of the pimento cheese and adds a really nice crunch. I also like the Spicy Turkey Melt, which has tart cabbage slaw to balance the creamy, cheesy elements of the sandwich. They also sell Torres Black Truffle potato chips, which...if you know, you know. Just grab a bag with any sandwich and thank me later! Lastly, their lattes are top notch and they have lots of syrups if you're into that. Highly recommend this place for a meal and unique groceries, including lots of giftable treats for your foodie friends.

Yelp
The quality of the food here is amazing along with friendly staff. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and the mustard was so spicy to me and I asked the young lady if there was any way they could replace it without it. I was already so embarrassed to bring it up since I worked at a restaurant before, but she was so understanding & replaced it just the way I requested. It was absolutely amazing. The coffee was soo good too. I got the iced latte. Yummmm. Sat on the patio chairs along the outside. It was so nice and shady. Overall an amazing experience. Wonderful staff & the best food!

Yelp
Great place for sandwiches, pastries, and coffee! Come here pretty often for a quick bite, definitely recommend their pulled pork barbeque sandwich, honestly feel it is the best sandwich they have. Also had some pastries, and would definitely recommend their chocolate croissant.
google avatar

Celine C.

Yelp
TBH I haven't had anything but the coffee here and a complimentary sample of cheese. But honestly, that is all I need to know that I'll be stopping by whenever I'm in the area. Have tried both a cappuccino and cold brew -- both worth the few bucks. Honestly there's something in their roast because these are above par cups of joe. If you're looking for a sign to grab a cup on the way, this is it. FAVORITE ORDERS: coffee!! (I'm sure their food is great too) Coffee: 5/5 Service/Speed: 5/5 Price (college student budget): $ Ambiance: tables outside Would return & recommend? 5/5

Yelp
You know it's only okay. Everyone was really nice but the coffee was fine, and the muffin was mediocre at best..and overpriced. Great spot though! Love the look, tables outside, etc

Yelp
the absolute best. have never ordered anything that wasn't above average delicious but their breakfast biscuit sandos are unparalleled and i've tried them all. pies & thighs can keep theirs. they also use biscuit dough in their cinnamon roll (not sure why that's not more of a thing) making it without question the best cinnamon roll i've ever had. the pretzel baguette ham & cheese is perfect too. and the peanut butter cookies. lastly customer service is amazing - just had an uber eats fuck up and upon re-ordering the staff called to make sure it wasn't an error, then laced me with extra goodies on the house for my sorrows. and the shop is darling :)
google avatar

Cheyenne H.

Yelp
First of all, this place is so cute. Second of all, their sandwiches are amazing!! The cheese and all the flavors are so fresh. I got the spicy turkey on sourdough, and am still dreaming of it. Plus, they had a great, seasonal, maple chai latte
google avatar

Cathy D.

Yelp
Three stars because it's just so overpriced for what it is. I spent a grand total of $21.23 on a biscuit with egg, cheese, bacon and fig jam and a cold brew that came pre-packaged and without any milk, cream or sugar. It was tasty, but this is not for people who make my salary. I only ordered because I was sick and didn't feel up to cooking my first meal of the day. Unless I win the lottery, I will not be ordering again. Three stars because yes the biscuit actually tasted good but it's not worth $10 plus a delivery fee and tip. Williamsburg madness.

Yelp
What a neat spot!!!!! This place is a walk up window where you can order coffee or groceries & still maintain social distancing. I got an oat milk cappuccino and two Saratoga waters. I actually forgot my wallet so I was VERY happy when they said I could pay via Venmo.

Yelp
Afternoon treat outdoors. The recommended cinnamon roll with a cup of iced Dona chai was spot on. Not just good food, you also get served with a smile!

George R.

Yelp
Great staff (5 stars). Good coffee. Decent, not very flavorful baked goods (muffin, cinnamon roll, crashing). Early morning hours. I enjoyed my Saturday morning experience and was very disappointed in the Sunday return visit. I paid $18 for a roast beef sandwich (2 stars), which could have been much better. The staff used the end of a loaf to make the sandwich, so the bread was dry and brittle. I could not see or taste the red onion or arugula. If there were 2 oz of meat, I would be surprised. It reminded me of an airport sandwich you know you will regret buying/eating.

Yelp
Campbell Cheese & Grocery is located on a nice corner spot in Williamsburg Brooklyn a short 4 blocks from the L or G train. Service ranges from mediocre to friendly depending on the employee and how busy the tiny shop is. I've tried Campbell's biscuit with sorghum butter, breakfast biscuits, cinnamon rolls, cookies, spicy turkey sandwich, ricotta pesto sandwich, and all their salads. The food is usually tasty, but they gouge you on prices. The $4.36 biscuit has yummy sorghum butter, but they occasionally skimp on the sorghum butter, making me feel ripped off. Though it's farther away, if you're willing to make the trek, Pies n Thighs makes a much better biscuit for $3 and it comes with a scrumptious honey butter. Pies n Thighs' biscuit is also larger and actually flaky, savory, and layered too, whereas Campbell's is crumby. I prefer the taste and texture of Pies n Thighs' biscuit, but the fig jam and raclette inside Campbell's breakfast biscuit is scrumptious. As for sandwiches, I stopped purchasing those from Campbell's because they are usually stingy with filling. I once got three measly turkey slices in the $13 spicy turkey sandwich. If you want more bang for your buck, Hana Food or Bagelsmith, which are only 4 blocks away, will satisfy. I once ordered iced coffee here, added milk, only to find it was clumpy. Campbell's milk had gone bad. You'll get much better and stronger java at Gimme Coffee across the street and I've never had bad milk there, but pastries (cookies, cinnamon buns, quick breads, etc) are better here at Campbell. Extra star for Campbell's tasty cheeses too. Although some employees have been dour, the occasional super nice cashier or cheesemonger helps balance out those bad employees.

Yelp
Love this place so much!! My favorite store / coffee shop to get my morning coffee and snacks and gifts for friends - the sweetest people work here too!

Yelp
This is a very nice gourmet food shop in Williamsburg. It is probably the best place to get a grilled cheese sandwich in the neighborhood. I used to live in the Lower East Side where I would go to Cheese Grille, but Campbell & Co. is very good too. They sell many types of sandwiches - turkey melt, reuben, Cuban grilled cheese, tuna, Italian, etc. I had a classic grilled cheese on sourdough pullman with bacon and fig jam which was delicious. The shop sells a variety of cheeses, mainly domestic. I mentioned that I like Humboldt Fog, and the knowledgeable cheesemonger suggested I try the Sofia goat cheese from Capriole creamery in Indiana. I bought a small portion. It was excellent. I didn't try their coffee, but that looked pretty legit as well.
google avatar

Frances O.

Yelp
Inconsistent service and products. Took over an hour to make a simple sandwich, I'd understand if they were super understaffed but that's not the case. Employees were chatting and felt bothered when I asked after 45min how much longer my sandwich and iced coffee would take. 3 stars since hard times but I'll be buying my coffee and lunch somewhere else. Also their business hours do not make any sense

Nolan B.

Yelp
Such a nice local coffee/cheese shop and a place to get those more specific cravings as well! Americano is delicious and so is the salted peanut butter cookie. Definitely going to become a favorite spot to chill at on my lunch break or a lazy weekend afternoon.

Alex Z.

Yelp
Service very good. Young man at counter was very helpful in recommending espresso drinks.
google avatar

Christa Lei S.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood small grocery store/cheese shop. I live a couple blocks away and am on good basis with many of the workers here, to the point where I pretty much am aware of many of the cheese they have in stock, and usually can find my favourite ones here. I do like buying cheeses here because they do let you sample and you can tell them what flavor profile/what kind of cheeses you normally like, and they can suggest something to your taste. That's the sign of a good cheese shop. They do rotate out their cheeses fairly frequently, so if you are looking for something you like, you should ask ahead of time. I do get sandwiches here occasionally, with my go-to being the grilled cheese with fig and bacon! Coffee here is good as well, and they always have artisanal snacks, craft beers and wines, and fresh produce on offer. It's a smaller selection than other places, but they usually have something new to explore. It's been great for me to try many of their items on offer because I know I'm supporting a small, independent business as well as vendors!
google avatar

Courtney D.

Yelp
Cheese, cheese, cheese and meat. SO good. It has become a tradition for my husband and I to always have cheese and meats for our guests when they come over to pair with some vino before heading out to dinner. Campbell does not disappoint. They have a great variety of cheeses which you get to sample before you buy. The staff is so friendly and helpful and know their stuff! The speck and proscuitto di parma are fantastic pairings with the cheese. They never disappoint. Even better, is when I do not have time to run up the block to go, i can pop online and they will deliver. What's not to love?

Jenny G.

Yelp
The Cheese and Charcuterie Board has arrived!! What a beautiful platter!! Thank you to the team at Campbell @ Co!!
google avatar

Alexa S.

Yelp
The pretzel bun is soooooo yummy and it *is* a pretty good ham and cheese sandwich, but the portion was much smaller than i was anticipating. I took a pic for reference (and i have very small girl hands) - it actually made me laugh when I unwrapped it.
google avatar

Bryan R.

Yelp
Pros - beautiful shop, great selection of cheese and craft beers (was surprised they had so many good beers), biscuits are fantastic Cons - got a bit of a cold vibe from the people working there, the breakfast biscuit was a huge letdown Regarding the breakfast biscuit, I was really excited to try this after the rave reviews here. I was still excited when I got it and took a picture because it looked perfect. Then I bit in, and the middle was still cold. I also suddenly had a grease explosion running down my chin. I can understand not being able to cook fresh eggs and bacon, but at the price point ($8.67 after tax) I was expecting a lot more (certainly that it would be reheated property). The bacon had a bit of a fake smoke taste to it and the spicy butter was too much on top of the bacon grease and cheese. The biscuit itself was quite good. So that said, still a fan of the shop. Just not sure I'll get any food here again.
google avatar

Dee G.

Yelp
I refused to come in here for many years because it did come along with gentrification in the area (I was born and raised here in East Williamsburg) but came in for the first time this summer when a friend wanted to get coffee. The cappuccino I had was so good, I kept going back but usually on special occasions because it's $5.44 a cup. The espresso is delicious but I don't think soy or any alternative milk should be charged extra. I buy soy and almond for my house and it's usually cheaper than regular cow's milk so why charge extra? I haven't bought anything else here because it's so incredibly expensive. If this is truly a neighborhood shop, understand that you're not just catering to white middle-to high-income folks. There are also a variety of income levels in the area who should also be able to enjoy anything in this shop and should feel welcomed to do so.
google avatar

Esodora R.

Yelp
Grilled cheese with bacon and fig was amazing I was hesitant at first cuz I've never had anything like it before but I really enjoyed the fresh cheese and fig made it slightly sweet which I dug. The cinnamon roll/bun was good wasn't overly sweet probably better warm but I had it cold
google avatar

Yelp
Campbell cheese and grocery, shall I count the way I love thee? If we're putting it in numerical quantities, I've been to this place no less than 50 times in the year and a half I've lived down the street. This place is the number one supplier for all of my cheese parties (and to clarify: this is the majority of the parties I host). Cheeses and charcoots to try: the truffle tomme Adrienne, hot soppressata, truffle pate, and there is a triple creme cheese in the case that tastes like buttered popcorn and I get every time but always fail to write down the name of. Despite my lack of name recall, it is divine and you must eat it. Their sandwiches are also to die for. Particularly the ones of the breakfast varietal. Get them with the spicy butter. Also their grilled cheeses are heavenly (but really, this is to be expected right?). My only complaint: it seems like there is a smaller cheese selection post-remodel. But maybe that's because I have poor spatial perceptions. Who knows?

Yelp
Food: great. Service: horrendous. My boyfriend and I went and he ordered a bacon egg and cheese. The food arrives and is without the bacon. He goes back to the register to let the person know his bacon is missing (it was a different person than the one who rang him up). The cashier asked my boyfriend if he had a receipt. My boyfriend did not get a receipt, but had ordered the food 5-10 minutes earlier. The cashier looks it up in the system and there is no bacon on the order. The previous cashier forgot to add it (idk if their shift was over and they left or what... but like it's frikking bacon and I was there to vouch that my boyfriend ordered that). The new cashier tells him that there is nothing he can do for him but my boyfriend can BUY bacon NOW to add to his food... I was in shock. My boyfriend is not a bacon swindler. It sucks because I love the coffees and pastries here, but I won't be coming back. The audacity of some folks is really insane.

Meghan K.

Yelp
I have been to this shop so many times for my morning breakfast sandwich and coffee. I love it because it is always so consistent and just a short walk from my apartment. However, I think I have made my last stop in. There is a woman who works there that is always SO rude to me, I just can't stand it any longer. I won't be back, it's a shame because my punch card is almost full but there are so many amazing places in this neighborhood with better service.

Phillip R.

Yelp
Overall good but PLEASE tell your people to stop over trimming the prosciutto. You are not supposed to take all the surrounding fat off, and should be thin, not an 8th of an inch think. Seriously, if you are going to charge premium prices at least teach your people how to slice the product.

Yelp
Went here to pick up some cheese for a party and had a great experience! Selection is extensive for a small shop, with some interesting and unique offerings. We received great service from the knowledgeable staff, who were helpful in working with us to design a balanced cheese plate for the size group we had. It was fun learning from them and tasting cheeses to construct our plate! They also had a great selection of crackers and baguettes to choose from to accompany the cheese. I didn't delve into any of the prepared food items but they look to have a good selection of high-end, premade sides and appetizer type items, coffee, pastries, and sandwiches (featuring some excellent-looking grilled cheeses!). It's close to the L/G trains so unlike many other parts of Williamsburg, it would not be too tough to visit from other parts of the city. It's a cute, light-filled space with a hipster, yet accessible vibe. Prices were actually quite reasonable ($53 for a pound of cheese, 3 types of crackers and 2 baguettes) given the quality of the items and the upscale vibe of the place. I'd definitely return next time I'm in NY!

Nathalie S.

Yelp
Wow where do I start??? The hot chocolate is thoughtful with notes of chocolate and milk. Very tasty 10/10 would recommend. Was surprised to find a lovely design in the foam when I opened it up. What a perfect temperature as well! The staff are so kind. I will definitely be visiting again!

Allison M.

Yelp
We love you guys, today, tomorrow, and every day! The food is insanely good here, the breakfast biscuit sandwich is to die for!

Jerri M.

Yelp
Never waited so long for a BLT but the worst part is that I only got 3 strips of bacon in my $12 BLT. Please reference the photos. This mostly bread BLT with a Cold brew cost me $20 with a $2 tip.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
Their egg & cheese biscuits are incredible! If you get one thing on the menu, get those. I've had better coffee in the area; the food is what to go for. Nice people behind the counter and a cute shop.

Yelp
Oh my, what words do I have? This is my current food crush, right here. I ate their Cuban grilled cheese with jalapeno slaw at the Big Cheesy and knew this place was something special, but it took me awhile to actually get out there. I finally came in after a three mile walk, ravenous, and ordered their bacon egg and cheese with sweet and spicy butter on a biscuit. The biscuit is super moist, slathered with this divine butter that absorbs into the bread, melding perfectly with the softly folded eggs and melted cheese, complemented with expertly cooked bacon. Whew, this is a sandwich! Other sandwiches should aspire to be this sandwich. Besides the sandwiches, the cheese and grocery portion of the store packs in a massive variety of high quality goods considering the relatively small space. The cheese case alone is so overwhelming. They also have cured meats and pate, craft beer, yogurt, truffle butter, mayo, tomato sauce, pasta, salsa verde, roasted peppers and tomatoes, roast duck (from Le Trois Petit Cochon), chocolate, jerk sauce, bacon, sausage, creme fraiche, spicy pickles, pickled okra with smoked paprika (this last one I couldn't help but take home with me). I will happily go broke here. The staff who work there are also friendly, helpful, and very patient. Don't be afraid to ask questions! They also deliver, which is dangerous. Go, fall in love with something new.

Yelp
Found this spot on Seamless. Absolutely great food and speedy service. I have no complaints on the delivery and only ordered a spicy turkey w/ tomato basil soup -- both of which were good. Need to order again before giving a more thorough review. Give it a shot.

Yelp
You're not at Mickey D.'s anymore. Not with biscuit breakfast sandwiches clocking in at $6.95 a pop. Happy to report, though, that they are good! Maybe not $6.95 worth of good, but close. The Tuna Sandwich may be even better: Briny, lemony, and slightly creamy from the addition of white beans, it all collides to soak into the crustiest, most airy ciabatta I have had in a long time. I would think twice about ordering off the Daily Specials menu, though. I got a Buffalo Chicken Salad that was just wrong on so many levels. We're talking rubbery chicken and soggy greens that wilted under the weight of too much thick blue cheese dressing. Honestly, it tasted like something that was thrown together with whatever scraps were left in the kitchen. In hindsight, the pleasant counter person who helped me seemed to be steering me toward ordering the Ricotta & Pesto sandwich I also had my eye on instead. I should have listened. On one visit, I was able to splurge at the Grocery part of this place, thanks to a Gilty City deal. But even as I was browsing, this voice in my head kept repeating like a mantra, "these prices are ridiculous!" I wound up getting some "lower end" (24-ish per pound) cheeses and an 8oz bottle of Morris Kitchen Ginger syrup ($15!) among other things. Fwiw, the cheeses were delicious and that syrup is amazing stirred into seltzer. The 4-star worthy sandwiches trump my misgivings over price, and I will no doubt return for them. Please note this spot is takeout only, though there's a bench outside for nice weather days.

Really good sandwiches and salads here! The london fog latte was interesting too. Good window for ordering and pickup
