London’s Best Cafes and Coffee Shops | Where to Drink Coffee in London | Eater London

"One of the most consistent cafés in the game and an East Finchley standby, Campbell and Syme offers two espressos and three filters from its rotating cast of single origin coffees — currently, a macerated natural process coffee from Honduras and another from the well-regarded Aricha area in Sidamo, Ethiopia are standing out." - James Hansen

Their coffee? Absolute perfection — balanced, rich, and clearly made by people who know their craft. But what really wins you over is the warm, down-to-earth service. Almost the perfect coffee heaven! Just wish they’d ease up on the “no laptops” rule during quiet hours… it borders on cruelty to serve coffee this good and not let us hang around a bit longer :)

There are a lot of excellent specialty coffee shops in London, but for me, Campbell & Syme is the place to go. In fact, every time I’m in town, I go out of my way to stop by, sit down, and enjoy. They are deeply embedded in the community, and yet are extremely welcoming to outsiders like myself. All the drinks I’ve tried are excellent: milk-based espresso drinks have the correct temperature and texture, the batch brews on rotation are excellently brewed, pour-overs range from sweet to juicy to experimental, depending on your tastes. As for the beans on offer, they are extraordinary. I bought a glorious yellow catuai, double fermented natural from Costa Rica. Cannot wait to brew it! Special shoutout to Beau for making Campbell & Syme even more special. She is softly-spoken and warm, it’s rare to meet a barista who is both so knowledgeable and approachable!

I had a great experience at this café. The flat white was excellent, and the berry cookie was delicious. The staff were friendly, cheerful, and very helpful. They even recommended a type of coffee bean that we ended up buying. Overall, highly recommended!

Just had cappuccinos here after a family lunch in the area. Our son and his wife are regulars and now we know why, the coffee is great in a lovely place which also has a selection of pastries. Thank you.

Google
One of the best coffee places in London I have visited so far. Their espresso is mind-blowing. Full body, low acidity and hardly any bitterness at all. I wish I could dial in my machine like this. Pour-overs are tasty as well. Once they noticed after my order that they didn't have enough enough beans. Despite my protest the barista gave me a refund and the espresso on the house. Can't wait for my next visit.

Great cafe just off the main street with speciality coffee. Atmosphere felt very relaxed and not too busy. Oat Flat white is only £3.50. They have a great selection of cakes and also toasties. Plenty vegan options too. Highly recommend!

The cappuccino was good. It was a bit bitter to my taste but it was definitely rich in taste. It was a bit too hot in my opinion though. They have some good options too like toasts, so it can be a good light breakfast option

Yelp
We were in search of a decent cup of coffee and came across this establishment- Not being familiar with the area (we're from California), it was such a nice surprise! Coffee was great, friendly atmosphere, just a really nice respite from the busy days (London!!) we had been encountering. Wonderful experience! We're the "Half-Caf" couple, BTW... : )

Yelp
Very good coffee, friendly stuff and exceptionally good bread with tasty soups! Personally, I found it to be a hidden gem
