There are a lot of excellent specialty coffee shops in London, but for me, Campbell & Syme is the place to go. In fact, every time I’m in town, I go out of my way to stop by, sit down, and enjoy. They are deeply embedded in the community, and yet are extremely welcoming to outsiders like myself.
All the drinks I’ve tried are excellent: milk-based espresso drinks have the correct temperature and texture, the batch brews on rotation are excellently brewed, pour-overs range from sweet to juicy to experimental, depending on your tastes.
As for the beans on offer, they are extraordinary. I bought a glorious yellow catuai, double fermented natural from Costa Rica. Cannot wait to brew it!
