Tried 'em, liked 'em a goodly bit. If they continue on the path that they're on, they'll get a fifth star, for sure.
I wanted fajitas...that is the sole reason I went there, basically. Fajitas often disappoint me: they can be made with a poorer cut of beef (which *can be* fine, depending on how it's prepared beforehand and how it's cooked/grilled), and I don't require a ton of the myriad different toppings that they're often served with: I don't want cheese, or sour cream, or various other extraneous things. Here's what I want: good beef, good bell peppers and onions, and good pico de gallo. That's pretty much what I want out of fajitas, as well as decently prepared tortillas (decent lettuce is fine, too, but completely optional). I'm honestly *easy*, if you do things right. I also like some sort of starch on the side, and I don't give a rat's behind about refried beans.
These folks get them *right*, and at a very fair price of $11.99 plus tax and tip. It's not a particularly good cut of beef...it just isn't. We can all agree on that. However: if you marinate/prepare it right *beforehand* and don't grill the ever living crap out of it on the flattop, lesser cuts of beef can do wonders in such a dish. This beef was just fine for my tastes and needs. Have I had better? Sure. Have I had *tons* worse? Absolutely. They do this right, though I do wish the beef had been a *bit* more rare...not any kind of a hill to die on for me.
Too, the peppers and onions were nice. Not limp, certainly not raw. Flavorful, with some crunch left. Even pretty, still, as both red and green peppers were used. A good ratio, here.
The first tortillas they gave me were overdone or old...one of the two. These were quickly replaced with new ones that were *just* fine: all I needed to do was ask. They also provided an extra one for me later on during the meal, which was nice, and appreciated. It allowed me to have a third fajita instead of just two, and I was quite hungry.
The crowning achievement, though, was the pico de gallo, which was *excellent*. Very, very fresh, and wonderful. I ordered more to have on the side, and was very glad that I both could and did. They had already provided some with the entree, but it wasn't nearly enough for *my* needs...I'm a Pico Freak, and I'm happy to pay for it when it's good. This qualifies in spades, and good pico de gallo makes a fajita the dish that it's supposed to be, according to me.
There's a generous portion of rice in with the entree, and it's just fine. Nothing that'll set your world on fire, but I ate every bit of it, so that's a better-than-passing grade from me, too.
I also ordered a personal portion of their coleslaw because...well, because it was $.99, and I was there. It probably goes better with the chicken, but it's a cream-based coleslaw, and I thought it just okay. I ate it, but probably wouldn't get it again.
A note about the Mild and Spicy sauces they provide: better than you'd think. I used them liberally on my fajitas, and found that they added something, flavor-wise. I liked them both, and the Spicy isn't going to burn you or anything...it more has an afterburn than anything else. These were good.
So, without any beverages, my total bill with tax and tip was around $17, I believe, all-inclusive. Really nice folks running this place, and they've been open all of 3-4 whole weeks at this point. Good facility, and you can dine in there, too! How novel!
Get in there early and support them during this time. Try some fajitas! I guarantee you I'll be back for those alone. Heck: I'll be back for the pico de gallo alone! Well done!
