We had probably the worst possible customer service experience with this hotel.
There are many good things — stunning views, great location, delicious food, and cool interior design, but it doesn't cover for the feeling that is left after that situation...
Everything that went terribly wrong was due to the service staff, their incompetence and communication style.
We booked two rooms for three adults via booking.com and received confirmation that everything was fine. Upon arrival, it turned out that a mistake had occurred — only one room was available. In other words, they failed to notice that one guest had booked two rooms, and in the meantime, they had rented out the second room to someone else.
When the situation arose, they simply said there was nothing they could do and, frankly, told us to "go to hell."
I then requested to cancel everything and have both rooms refunded. They told me I had to cancel myself, but there was no such option in my profile — the only option was to cancel and lose the entire payment for both rooms.
We spent three hours trying to resolve the situation with Booking.com customer support. No one from the Camps Bay Retreat team apologized or tried to help solve the issue. We felt completely unappreciated and treated as if we were just causing them trouble.
There was absolutely no leadership or problem-solving skills shown — a complete disaster.
