Can Alberti, Mahón, Menorca, Spain - Explore & Book

"Climb the stately stone staircase with its exquisite bannister to a chill-out terrace at the top… and views of rooftops, belfries, harbour and sky. High above the boats and bustle of Mahón’s old town, within strolling distance of the cathedral, this rose-pink townhouse exudes an air of slightly faded grandeur. The 14 rooms are beautifully restored and simply adorned, with high beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls, modern art and modernist pieces, white muslin and boho touches. The feel throughout is laid-back.There’s no reception, no lift and no in-room TVs; just friendly service, good-value rates, a lounge with books and games, and a shared kitchen where you can help yourself to tea, coffee and fruit. We've yet to visit, but we love its sister property Jardi de ses Bruixes, and past Alberti guests heap praise on the small team here, who help you connect with Menorca. If you fancy a bike, a boat trip or a table at a nearby restaurant, it’s yours in a trice. The honesty bar is well stocked with local wines; breakfast, served in the shaded courtyard garden, is a spread of breads, pastries, fruits, salamis, cheeses and jams so good you’ll linger long into the day. Highs A perfect location in the old town, 5 minutes’ walk from the harbour; there are fold-up electric bikes to hire for exploring Creative, light-filled interiors with a stylish blend of contemporary and vintage piecesTwo peaceful courtyards and a roof terrace with loungers for chillingBreakfast is a bounty of local produce, and there are restaurants all around A happy, homely feel that suits couples, families and friends Lows This is an 18th-century building, and the soundproofing could be betterReasonably priced parking is a 10-minute walk awayNo pool, but beaches and coves abound on Menorca (the nearest is 5km away)It’s a trek up to the third-floor roomsOnly ages 12 and up allowed - a plus for peace-seeking couples" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

Can Alberti 1740 Hotel Boutique (Minorca, Balearic Islands) 9 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The historic city of Mahón may be Menorca’s capital, but even at its busiest it’s hardly a bustling metropolis. Even a hotel in the old city center offers more rest and relaxation than stimulating urbanity — a situation that suits Can Alberti 1740 just fine. It’s named for the family that established it as its home and for the year of its foundation, and in its present incarnation as a luxury boutique hotel it trades heavily on its residential atmosphere and its quasi-aristocratic elegance." - Tablet Hotels

An absolutely gorgeous hotel! We stayed here for 2 nights and we loved it. The hotel is beautiful and the staff especially Mar the host who greeted us were really friendly, helpful and kind. Our room was really spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. We had room 16 which is not suitable for people with mobility issues or tall people, but it suited us just fine. The hotel is beautiful inside, welcoming and wonderfully decorated with fabulous period features. We loved the terraces and the lounge and the honesty bar was a nice thing to have. There was a tasty continental breakfast selection as well as a cooked option. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

We are currently staying at Can Alberti and after only 24 hours here we know we will return in years to come. This is a charming “boutique” hotel where much care and thought has been put into the experience of those who stay here. Our room is spotlessly clean with its own private roof terrace and lovely eco-friendly products to enjoy. The breakfast on the terrace downstairs is beautifully presented with many different choices including a cooked option. On arrival we were given access to a personalised in-house interactive map with recommendations for restaurants, churches, museums and boat trips. What is most striking, however, is the calibre of staff who work here. There is an atmosphere of genuine enthusiasm, cheerfulness and pride in their work. Nothing is too much trouble, it seems. This is a delightful, calm and happy place to stay and I cannot recommend it more highly.

We came to celebrate a milestone birthday and our time at Can Alberti made everything extra special.| We arrived early but were treated to a lovely breakfast. The chief, Lea, created a delicious omelet and had all sorts of goodies out there n the buffet table. She also bakes cookies and brownies available all day as snacks. Scrumptious. ||A nice welcome surprise in our beautiful room! ||The hotel is spotless and filled with interesting art. Living room is a great spot to relax after a full day of sightseeing. ||Staff is charming, can’t wait to return.

Can Alberti is a beautiful, characterful boutique hotel set in a tastefully restored historic residence. It’s located in a quiet street of the old town but is only a very short walk from all the restaurants, sites and shops of the old town and port areas. Our room was a very comfortable base for our exploration of Menorca, with a small private roof patio. The breakfast was beautifully laid out each morning and offered quite a wide range of options for such a small hotel. There was roasted coffee, tea and snacks available in the dining room throughout the day for when we had an attack of the munchies. But perhaps the best aspect of the hotel was the friendly, helpful and expert service provided by all the staff members. In Menorca booking restaurants in advance is essential and not always easy to do. The hotel staff gave us excellent advice on the best restaurants to sample the excellent Minorcan cuisine and made all the restaurant and taxi bookings for us. The hotel’s WhatsApp service allowed us to easily stay in touch with them while we were out and about and when I lost my watch in a taxi they went above and beyond to find it and return it to me. Excellent service from lovely people. We strongly recommend a stay at the Can Alberti.

As a solo traveler, I decided to stay in Mahon vs. one of the beach resorts for my first trip to Menorca. I'm so glad I did. The hotel is in a good location and it's easy to walk to everything you want to see. Many excellent restaurants and bars right on their doorstep. The staff are all very accommodating and welcoming. I especially want to mention Mar who put my mind at ease when my flight was delayed. Every place she recommended was good. They are also helpful in securing dinner reservations and taxis if needed. The rooms are very comfortable and have all the amenities you need. You are spoilt for choice at breakfast. I also enjoyed sitting on the roof terrace after exploring Mahon on my first day. It's very quiet and I always felt safe. What a wonderful long weekend in Menorca and I hope to return.

The hotel is very quiet and ideally situated for shops, bars and many highly recommended restaurants. |We booked a deluxe room with a patio and were allocated room 14. The patio is up on the roof via some steep steps accessed from a vestibule outside of the bedroom door, I felt the stairs were dangerous and were an issue due to mobility, once up the stairs there are two cafe style chairs and a small table. There is also a window overlooking it from another room! Not ideal or what I was expecting. It would make more sense to use the hotels roof terrace than pay for a patio on the roof (we’ve not seen the shared terrace as upstairs and no lift). I asked if we could be moved to one of the rooms shown on the website with the patio off the bedroom but unfortunately they were already occupied. Mar (very nice lady on reception) offered to move us to a suite 2 days later but that didn’t have a patio or to an alternative patio room some days after that. We declined both as we’d unpacked and were settled. We appreciated Mars attempt to help. Breakfast is good and all staff were very friendly. We ended up paying a lot of money for a cosy room without a patio, we didn’t ask and we weren’t offered a reimbursement for not being able to use the patio. Although it had negatively impacted our stay, we would recommend the hotel but would add an advisory note to check which room and whether there are any mobility issues.
