Can Pineda

The waitress gave us a warm welcome. The tomato salad she recommended was so sweet and refreshing. It was my favourite dish of the night. The Lobster risotto was delicious. Just it was slightly salty for us. The oxtail (using the same recipe since 1972) was very tender. The prawns that came with it were sweet too.

Solid 4 stars. Fried lorito fish & ribeye rice were the standouts. The fish was extremely well fried and the ribeye rice was a refreshing change from seafood paella we’ve been eating. Note that the ribeye steak (and steak in general in Spain in our experience) comes rare. The rice had a fermented black bean flavor to it like Korean jajang. It was deep and rich. One star taken out because some dishes are more expensive than I’d expect given the portion size notably the tomato salad. Hamachi was interesting but I think it would have been better if served colder. But love the concept of having a seasonal menu based on ingredients that taste the best at the time!

Wow, this place was tucked all the way at the end of an alley. I am surprised people found this place. Our first night in Valencia, we were starving, and we stopped in because of all the ratings. We ate early because we are not Europeans so it was nice because we were the only ones there. There were eight of us, so we ordered 8 different dishes to try. The portions are big enough to share, and the presentation and the food were amazing. Definitely make a reservation and you must try this place out!!! We tried everything the server suggested. The service was great and they are super friendly. The food was fresh and full of flavor, and each plate had a very different flavor. The bread that came with the meals was great and the best salads I've had in a long, long time💜 Yummy!!!

We were recommended by the other restaurant “Els Tres Porquets” as the other one was fully booked, apparently they have collaboration. The food was okay but the service is not really good. The environment was pretty noisy. The next table was almost singing and dancing with the effect of alcohol I guess… we were suggested in the very beginning to try mixed seasonal tomatoes as the starter but we didn’t get the chance to see it even til the end. However, it appears in the bill… it must be “difficult” to remember all the dishes for 3 tables for the entire night in the restaurant…. The owner seemed to be out of the situation. We ordered the tomate salad but didn't come but it is in the bill... or maybe the waitress had it...

Delicious Catalan food! It is a tradicional place with very fresh ingredients. A lot of options in the menu are to share, which is good, so you can try a bit of different things that they have. We went in 2 people and we got 5 plates. All of them were amazing! Desert was spectacular!! Catalan wine was incredible. It’s not cheap compared to other restaurants in Barcelona, but it’s worth it.

Went to this place for dinner while I was in Barcelona for an IT conference. Delicious food, great service n amazing wines! It’s small family run Resturant with some interesting menu. It took me so much time to figure 😅 If you are visiting Barcelona it’s a must try place.

Off the beaten path for authentic Catalan cuisine. Every dish was done to perfection and the wine recommendation was on point paired with cod fritter, fatty tuna belly, pasta, and oxtail. Highly recommend.

The title as one of the BEST AUTHENTIC Catalan restaurant in Barcelona is definitely true!!! Can Pineda is a hole in a wall traditional Catalan restaurant…it’s not a hyper fashionable place due to it’s history but the cuisine is sublime. It is not cheap by Spanish standards, but its WELL worth it for the service and the delicious food. The perfect restaurant to discover the true Catalan cuisine! A big chapeau to all the staff of Rest Canpineda for making the whole birthday experience a little bit more special for my friend even though I informed them about his birthday at the very last minute.

We made reservations on OpenTable for dinner Dec 26 and even received a confirmation for the reservation. Well... we took a 15 euro taxi ride out there to find it CLOSED. Major fail Can Pineda and OpenTable.
