Can Travi Nou - Review - Horta-Guinardó - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"Anyone planning a trip to Catalonia between January and April will want to slurp back a calçot, a.k.a. the Catalan national vegetable. It’s a cross between a leek and a spring onion that’s charred on the barbecue and doused in tangy romesco sauce before being dangled and lowered into the eater’s gullet. The downside is that most calçot feasts, or calçotadas, happen deep in the countryside, and you’ll need a car to get to one from Barcelona. Unless you go to Can Travi Nou. This pink bougainvillea-covered 17th-century mansion, known for serving carnivorous lunches to local businessmen in a faded vintage setting, also puts on a perfectly respectable calçotada (which includes lots of grilled meat and heavy pours of red wine alongside the onions). And it’s only a 20-minute metro ride from downtown Barcelona. photo credit: Sara Larsson RESERVE A TABLE" - Isabelle Kliger

What a delight! Can Travi Nou is a truly charming and authentic Catalan restaurant tucked away in a rustic farmhouse setting — it feels like you’re dining in a hidden oasis within Barcelona. We ordered the croquettes, black rice, and stroganoff, and every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and generously portioned. The staff were lovely — warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive throughout the meal. The ambiance, service, and food all came together to create a perfect dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and traditional meal in a stunning setting.

Nice calçots, romescu sauce and very good parrillada - especially the lamb. However, the service was terrible. All of the waiters who served us had a really bad attitude, and it felt as if they were doing us a favour. They made ordering drinks very difficult and were generally pretty rude. Great food but won’t be going back for that reason. When you’re paying a fair whack, you at least expect everything to be top. This wasn’t.

Visited with a group so it would be hard to rate service. Some of the servers were very attentive and others were not. The tapas were good and everyone at the table thought the pate was the best. Main dish was seafood Paella served on individual plates. Several of our dining partners didn’t receive any seafood, just rice. I’m not sure they know how to “under promise and over deliver”. Nice view though.

Google
a beautiful rustic farmhouse in Barcelona with a cozy, countryside charm. I had amazing setas, delicious carne, and a fantastic paella—everything full of flavor! If you love authentic Catalan food in a magical setting

Food was quite good, not so salty. But it’s a bit understaffed. The restaurant decorated nicely.

Went in here unplanned with wife and daughter. We were treated like family, Dam made us feel completely at home, and had a great meal. Atmosphere was great, service was perfect. Really accommodating for my young daughter.

The place is very nice, hardwood floors, remote from the city. The food was good, potatoes just amazing. For the vegetarian they did a paella with artichokes and red peppers - quite delicious! The meat was also good, not dry at all (even for the chicken, they serve thighs only). For wine they have an acceptable Segura Viudas red (garnatxa negra). Crema catalana and coffee are inclued in the price, we ended up paying 46 eur per person. I would come back.

Yelp
Esta un lugar muy amable. Pedimos tartar y boletos a la plancha y ellos estuvieron muy bien.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to enjoy a calçotada! Disclaimer: We love Spain (especially Barcelona). We love Spanish food (especially the local, traditional dishes)... so much so that we chose to move here a couple of years ago! That said, we wanted to go to a traditional calçotada (Catalán green onions cooked over hot coals - you strip off the 'burned' layer, and dunk the remainder in a Romesco sauce - followed by platters of various meats. Delicious!) We'd been to several in prior years, but had not been to one in a classic masia (farmhouse). This place scored a five out of five on both counts! The ambiance here is everything you could hope for in a rural masia. This one, however, had a city grow up around it, so now it is mere blocks from the nearest bus and subway lines. Nevertheless, it is in a quiet location, and retains its rustic charm. The food is terrific. The nine of us enjoyed lots to eat - and dietary restrictions were all honored. The service was good, and we all left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. THIS is the place I would take out-of-towners to for an exceptional meal.

Yelp
The grounds of this restaurant are absolutely exquisite, and the food was both traditional and delicious.

Yelp
Had a group dinner of 20 executives in a private room. Was recommended by a friend. Would do it again! SERVICE: 5.0. Adept, warm, and timely, with good recommendations for dining. AMBIENCE: 5.0. The private room had patina, with a rough stone wall and a beamed ceiling. FOOD: 3.0. I had grilled goat shoulder with potatoes. The goat was quite good; the potatoes were unseasoned roasted small potatoes--mediocre. Appetizers were rather nice--sausages, pate, and more. Desert was fine. Expresso excellent.

Yelp
Traditional and regional cuisine. Rustic and elegant. Good also for big groups. Well worth the trip up the hillside.

Yelp
A friend told me about this spot a bit outside of the city. It was so beautiful and rustic... I felt like I was in an old Tuscan farmhouse. I loved the fried artichoke appetizer! Food was good , but defined ambience was the best part!

Yelp
The outdoor setting is really wonderful and service is good. The food was expertly prepared. However, given the high price and the out of the way location, it gets only four stars. It's really good, but there is better food to be had for less.

Yelp
We went there in line with a business meeting. The restaurant has a very nice garden with likely flowers, also the wall of the restaurant-house is over and over growed with lavendar blooming flowers. It's a very romantic view. Inside it's also very nice arranged. We had an own room with oval tables. The tapas were absolutely fine, but the tables a little bit too small for so many plates. The staff was friendly and amusing. They told us how to drink of a decanter with spout. We had a very cheerful evening there.

Yelp
While on vacation my wife and I dined with 13 other people and enjoyed the best meal we had on our journey. Warm, accommodating, attentive staff enhanced the meal. We ate in a private room at a table at which we could see everyone else that was eating the meal. We had small plate after small plate with the most succulent, tasty and very delicious foods. Eggplant and peppers, white beans and sausage, vermicelli and calmer with an incredible aioli sauce, roasted peppers and much much ore. The meal ended with a piece of perfectly prepared salmon with a wonderful butter sauce. I just wish they had a restaurant where I live. Outstanding.
