Beachy Venice Hangout Canal Club Closes After 20 Years - Eater LA
"Venice’s longstanding Canal Club is closing this weekend, bringing an end to one of that neighborhood’s more prominent local hangouts. The sister restaurant to also-popular James Beach had been in operation for 20 years, though it did have some down time in 2017 due to a kitchen fire. Ownership posted a long goodbye notice on Facebook several days ago, saying their time running the restaurant “was a Venice blast.” The final day of service could come as soon as this weekend, according to at least one source, though the Facebook post says that ownership will continue to celebrate on Fridays and Saturdays only through the end of the month." - Farley Elliott
Canal club has more than sushi! The food and drinks were delicious. The staff has a much higher opinion of themselves, though, than I think is appropriate. The inside is not that impressive, tbh

The only place where my creativity begins to flow and my passion for sushi makes it something exquisite for the palate

Nice atmosphere food was good. We went in on Sunday evening of Memorial weekend. The hostess offered us a booth even though it was just 2 of us. Staff was attentive but our waiter didn't check on our food until it was gone. Our food runner basically did the water's job. Place was 80% full but no wait.

Excellent ambiance but the food and service was sub par. The tacos we're cold and honestly the sushi was mediocre. This plus the fact that there was a screaming toddler at the table next to us made the meal less than stellar. I give two stars for the decent priced beer and cocktails but will not be back.

Casual and high class at the same time. The sushi is first rate! Solomon, our waiter, was awesome! My lady and I wanted to try it all and he suggested an "off menu" sushi platter for 2. The best in Venice for a date night

Amazing food in a super fun atmosphere! The sushi was super tasty, plus there's a great variety of happy hour drink and food specials. I loved watching the silent films projected onto the walls as well.

I really like the Canal club. It has a relaxed atmosphere, in a cool part of Venice. The food has always been tasty, especially the sushi...and the menu variety will force you to make some tough choices! The staff here are friendly and add to the restaurants fun. It gets packed out of Friday and Saturday night, so book it early.
