A fabulous place to stay overlooking the grand canal. The staff were so professional, friendly and welcoming. The room was wonderful and came with its own terrace! |Breakfast was plentiful and so tasty. Guests have a complimentary trip to a glass factory in Murano which was fascinating. |Clean linen and towels every day. Very comfortable bed and pillows. |A really elegant place to stay!|Wonderful!

We just finished a stay of 4 nights at Hotel Canal Grande. It’s a beautiful hotel in a great location, right on the Grand Canal. We stayed in the Canaletto suite with a wonderful view. The staff is superb especially the desk staff Anca, who went above & beyond to help us find a step stool for the bathtub as I have short legs. She also helped me place an order on Amazon Italy for a replacement medical device accessory that was delivered to the hotel. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of food. Our only complaint was our stay wasn’t long enough. We highly recommend Hotel Canal Grande.

My family stayed here in March 2025 for 3 nights. The location is very convenient being on the Grand Canal as well as being very close to the train station (less than 5 min walk).||We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite overlooking the canal and it was an amazing to wake up and to see the canal outside your window. The room had traditional decor which can seem dated but is full of character, and its’s Venice after all. Rooms were very clean.||There is a bar in the lobby and you can order drinks and sit on the canal balcony as well. ||The staff is very friendly and helpful, providing a map of Venice and recommending restaurants nearby.||The only drawback was that it is on the pricey side, but you pay for what you get. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff at the Canal Grande Hotel took special care of us as first time visitors to their city. We wanted for nothing and could rely on the knowledge and care from the staff at reception. All the advice we needed on transport, dinning, shopping etc.; all provided with duty of care. The roofs were lovely and comfortable throughout our stay and I would happily recommend this hotel to both couples and families.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Hotel Canal Grande, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Beautiful room with view of the canal and we enjoyed watching all the boats going by. The breakfast was plentiful and lots to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. Excellent recommendation of restaurant opposite. We visited three times. |The hotel is well placed with short distance from bus/train station/water bus. We walked to Realto bridge in 10 mins, St Mark's in about 20-25 mins and lots of other places.|If we ever return to Venice, we would book this hotel again.

|We spent a few nights at this outstanding hotel, and for my family and me, it was truly a dream. The breakfast was superb, the staff were both friendly and professional, and our room was great as well! We will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Hotel staff was the best! Very kind, and provided great restaurant recommendations. Have multiple waterfront tables a great view while enjoying a coffee or a spritz. Just a short 20 min walk from city center, but near great neighborhoods!

Love the place. They have very accomodating and friendly staff who go the extra mile to help their guests. Told the staff that if I will stay there again next time. Right in front of the train station (although need to walk about 10mins round the old buildings and cross a bridge to the train station). Free tour to Murano to see glass blowing at a factory. Breakfast was very good. Checking out was smooth. And able to get a porter to help transport the luggages over the bridges to the train station was fantastic!!

Yelp
- beautiful room with a canal view and GREAT AC. Really enjoyed the good water pressure and the travel shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, too, after a long day sightseeing. - fantastic breakfast buffet with a beautiful view. Nothing can really beat this view! - very close to water bus station (3 min walk) and about 10 min walk from the train station. mobility note: the first bridge you need to cross to get to the hotel may be difficult if you have mobility concerns and/or have large luggage. The hotel can help arrange a porter for you - approx. €15 for 2 large bags. - very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Would absolutely stay here next time we're in Venice!

Yelp
In 30+ years of traveling, this is the 2nd worst hotel I have ever been. AC didn't work, after 8 hours of them promising to fix it, they brought us a portable air conditioner "a fan". Broken tiles in the bathroom, a shower that leaked all over the floor, 20 years old bed, I felt like I was on a reality show to see if I would crack. After 8 hours of pleading with the hotel to move us ( they wouldn't) I threw my key ( yes, I said key, not keycard) at the unhelpful desk man and said "thanks for nothing" and we walked .3 miles to the Marriott. Ruined our first day in Venice

Yelp
We stayed here in Venice and it was an excellent find. It's less than 10 minutes walk from the Piazzale Roma and only 2 from the closest water taxi station. When we arrived, we were shown to the room immediately after a brief introduction to the hotel and city. We were offered any advice we needed as well as access to concierge services gratis. The staff was welcoming and friendly as well. It's very comfortable. The room decor was elegant and the bed was wonderful after a long trip. Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

Yelp
Love this place--stayed here in May 2022 and again October 2023. A perfect boutique hotel, close to everything in Venice but enough out of the high traffic zones to be a refuge. Beautiful interior spaces, helpful staff, great breakfast, nice little patio overlooking the Grand Canal for cocktails and snacks. Clean, comfortable, posh rooms. Not inexpensive but worth the price!

Yelp
Misleading advertising. NOT a flexible booking. Should be avoided at all costs! I wish I had great things to say about this hotel, but they lied on their booking site when they said they are flexible. Due to Covid hardship I needed to rebook my stay here and they completely refused. Even though they admitted it was possible to rebook, they said they were not willing to allow a rebooking due to Covid. They DO NOT take Covid seriously. Stay here at your own peril. Watch as your entire trip is ruined after you contract Covid at this hotel. NOT WORTH IT. I'm out well over $1000+ because even with a notice of more than a month they refuse to let me reschedule. No credit, refund, anything. Horrible! Did I mention they were incredibly rude over the phone? I can only imagine how terrible they are in person. Do not book. Stay somewhere else - you'll be sorry if you book here.

Yelp
We loved every minute of our stay at Hotel Canal Grande. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. We had a gorgeous corner room, with a breathtaking view of the Grand Canal. Complementary breakfast was delicious and offered lots of options, something for everyone! Our stay also included a complementary water taxi to the glass factory on the island Murano. One of my favor parts about staying at the Hotel Canal Grande was that everyday they left a candy on my pillow. Oh and that bathtub. Perfect for a long hot soak after a day on your feet exploring Venezia!

Yelp
Where do I start? I researched and booked 7 days here 9 months ago for mine and my husband's honeymoon hotel. We purchased water taxi tickets at that time as well and from the moment we arrived at the airport, we've been taken great care of. The water taxi knew exactly where our hotel was and although we arrived and checked in quite late, the employee was expecting us! The receptionist got out a large easy to understand map of Venice and highlighted main points on the map to help us. He also let us know that a trip to the Murano glass factory was included and to just let them know what day we wish to go and to be at the lobby for 10am that morning. They water taxi us there and back. The breakfast included has a large selection from pastry sweets to meats, cheeses, eggs, and cereals! All four employees we've interacted with have been so sweet and accommodating! They let us choose between two separate rooms the following day after arriving for more privacy. They moved our luggage for us from our first room to the new room and walked us through the room details. I love this hotel and we'll never stay elsewhere when we visit Venice!

Yelp
Venetian luxury at its finest! I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel from beginning to end. Having never been to Venice before it was hard to pick a hotel. There were so many recommendations regarding location, comfort, and amenities. When I finally settled on this hotel... I was glad I did!!! The hotel is located less than 5 minutes from the train station and you only have to cross two bridges to get to the front door. Two bridges! That's nothing compared to the hundreds Venice has. Save money and stay here instead of paying for a water taxi to get to where the other hotels are. To get to all the restaurants, tourist attractions, and the other side of Venice it takes about 20 mins (walking). It sounds far, but it's not. You get to take in a lot of Venice by walking, wandering, and finding the local hot spots. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. From checkin through my stay, they were eager to help and ensure I had a great time. The ROOM was phenomenal. It was way bigger than I expected, especially for Venice and was well decorated. Clean, big, and surprisingly modern and rustic at the same time. You'll be impressed. The morning breakfast is pretty good as well. It's got a decent selection of pastries, juices, fruits, and a few hot items. With your paid hotel stay, you get a free tour of a glass factory too. It was worth it to go on because you get a free boat ride to Murano Island and get to see how glass is made. Cost... $0, so it was a definite pro. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat! Solid 5 stars!!!

Yelp
On my birthday they had a sweet surprise waiting for me in my room! The woman at the front desk (6/24/19) was super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. In fact, all the staff we encountered here were warm and accommodating. The rooms were clean and and well decorated. Breakfast was wonderful and the location is top-notch. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Beautiful beautiful beautiful hotel! Amazing staff I'm super nice rooms. We had the junior suite overlooking the canal I enjoyed everything about it. Stayed here for two nights and got engaged in Venice and the staff helped my man put roses all over the room, order flowers, and had champagne awaiting us after. Also their breakfast was wonderful with many options that could satisfy anyone. Will be back for sure! Enjoyed the whole experience.

Yelp
Best place to stay in Venice. Friendly helpful staff, comfy cozy rooms that are nicely decorated. Internet that works, great breakfast options. Location is best, right on Grande Canal. Stayed here in November right after flooding and staff have excellent advice on working round the flooded areas during high tide and offered suggestion for things to do until water receded. Amending the review to talk about WiFi. So many reviews indicated that the Internet service is so bad, however, we had excellent service in this hotel. It did log you off if inactive for a few minutes, but over all the connection was quick and reliable. Between the four trawlers, we used 4 iPads, 4iPhone, and one PC laptop and it handled all very well.

Yelp
Came from California with my Fiancé to visit Venice & stayed here for 2 nights in Venice at Hotel Canal Grande just a couple days ago. My experience was soo exceptional. There were no cons, only pros, which is rare for me to say. Out of all of the cities in Europe I stayed at, this one takes the cake and I would absolutely come back just for this hotel stay right on the canal! I recommend them to anyone and everyone! #1 Perfect location... very short walking distance from buses and trains #2 Incredibly hospitable staff... Not only was all of the staff just so nice and helpful with everything, but I had an emergency ad was very sick during my stay, I had a hard time breathing too, I come down to the lobby at like 11pm crying saying I need a doctor. The gentleman called a water taxi for me right away and while waiting for it (literally just a few minutes) he offered me hot tea to help. After being taken care of by the staff at the hospital, I called the hotel back and asked for them to get a water taxi for me to come back. It was a total of $120 Euros all together for the private water taxi but my life was kinda on the line so I really don't care. Best part is I was so shocked that my hospital bill was only $23 Euros! I was like shocked. Anyways, I get back to the hotel and the other male there asked if I was ok and needed anything, and gave me more tea free of charge! They even asked me the next morning how I was doing. #3 Free Continental breakfast ... omg so this breakfast was full on oozing with so many choices, tea juices, coffee, a bunch of different kinds of pastries, meats like bacon sausage eggs prosciutto salami, etc. I made a breakfast sandwich in a croissant actually. Fresh cut fruits galore. I mean this I could call a smorgasbord haha! #4 Affordable ... I believe my stay was very well priced especially for the view of the canal I had and the amazing Venetian room I had! #5 Beautifullly decorated and gorgeous clean rooms with beautiful floors. Windows that open up everywhere in the room with fresh air from the canal. That pretty much sums up my experience and they will get my business again as well as any friends or colleagues of my that travel to Venice. Best hotel stay actually ever, even though I was very sick. -Brooke

Yelp
Absolute fantastic place to stay. Room was comfortable, staff was always smiling, helpful and therefor our needs and questions. hotel is very close to the train station and major sites, restaurants etc. We casually mentioned that it was our daughters birthday during our stay and came back to the room after a day out and found a birthday cake in our room. Hotel Canal Grande is now our go-to for any of our Venice trips in the future. August 2018, 6 days.

Yelp
Rooms are so lovely. Better than the pictures. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were there only for one night but it was magical. I would come back again for sure.

Yelp
I personally would not choose to stay here again. There were good things and bad but the bad out weighed the good. Trust me I read all the reviews before coming! The good is that they have a fantastic breakfast and the young woman with curly dark hair is extremely nice. The breakfast was excellent. They gave me the room of my choice for my honeymoon and a fan as I need the white noise to sleep at night which was also very nice of them. And finally there was a lady front desk worker who had dark brown hair whom was exceptionally kind/warm/friendly and helped us load the bags on the taxi. Thank you for doing that. Bad things were: I felt like most of the front desk workers more "all business" so to speak and not that personable! A smile and where are you from goes a long way. The worst thing is and the reason I'd never go back was because they will only give you ONE key which has to stay in a slot in the room if you want to keep the room air conditioned while you are out in the very hot and humid conditions June thru September! Otherwise you come back to a hot room and they won't allow the air conditioner to go below about 71 degrees but feels much hotter than that due to the muggy conditions. I personally need it cool but if you don't mind it being warmer like the Italians then it won't matter to you! The temperature does get cooler at night so it may not bother you. I think what bothered me the most is that they are not upfront about it! They lie and say that they will try to get you another plastic card (which all hotels have and are a dime a dozen) but they never do. The reason is because they are hoping you will get sick of having them let you in the room each time and take the key that shuts off the air conditioner when you pull it out so they can save money even though you are paying almost 400 dollars a night for a room!! But THEY want to control the air conditioner and they have settings at the desk that allow that. I think if you are paying that much money per night...YOUR comfort shouldn't be their choice!! If they are in the HOSPITALITY business then they need to understand that not everyone is use to the heat and humidity like them. But honestly if they were just honest about the air conditioning policy on their website or when one inquires...that would be okay because at least you can chose before finding out something completely different upon arrival and playing this ridiculous cat and mouse game. I should be able to have 2 keys to my room for my husband and myself!!!!

Yelp
After researching lots of hotels, we came across Hotel Canal Grande and it looked perfect. We arrived and were greeted by the front desk. The hotel is located right on the canal across from the train station. The location is great, it's not right in the middle of all the crowds so it is quieter. After visiting some of the areas in Venice, I was glad we chose to stay in a location that wasn't in the midst of the crowds. We were shown to the Rialto room, which is located off the courtyard behind the main building. The room was beautiful! A long hallway led to a lovely bedroom decorated with gold decor and wood floors. The room was very clean and VERY comfortable. The bathroom was also lovely - sparkling and new. The shower was awesome. The room was so comfortable and quiet; it was hard to leave it. For breakfast you can sit outside right on the canal, watching the boats pass by, it was a great way to start the day. The breakfast was good, they offered croissants, little rolls, cookies, little pastries, yogurt, meats and cheeses. They will even make you an egg (costs extra). The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful; they made the stay even more enjoyable. Just as originally thought, Hotel Canal Grande was perfect.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place, as it was the last stop (three days / two nights) of our ten day tour of Italy. Come on it's Venice, right? Yes; however, bad service is still bad service, no matter where you're visiting. I hate to call out people, but the "woman" at the front desk (during the day shift) was so snarky and condescending, we thought we were in Paris. Our booking said we would have a Grand Canal view, but that matter was dismissed immediately without any apology or explanation. Then we were escorted to a room in an adjoining building on the second or third floor (we lost count of how many steps there were) which had a view of a wall. My wife went ballistic, so the woman at the front desk reluctantly assigned us a room on the first floor with a view of an alley (yay). Needless to say, our interaction at the front desk during the day was somewhat "chilly". Everyone else at the hotel was absolutely wonderful, and our room was very nice (less the view). We couldn't get the outlet to work in the bathroom though for my wife's curling iron. We brought it to the attention of the "woman" while checking out and were told ..."the outlet in the bathroom is for "shavers only, not curling irons" (what the heck?). Funny enough on our last night there we met a couple in the lobby from New Zealand who had the same "room switcheroo" experience and attitude issue we experienced with the "woman". I hope the Manager / Owner addresses this personnel issue, which really forced us to rate the hotel so low.

Yelp
An easy walk from the Ferrovia, this historic home was completely gutted and rebuilt as a hotel in 2009. The interior is modern and friendly, but not half as friendly as the staff. Every single person we dealt with was wonderful. My daughter and I loved our room, and even the high-tech shower. Everything was spotless. Our ground-floor room even had a little private outdoor seating area. The staff was able to recommend a neighborhood restaurant that had great, non-tourist food, and could map out any Vaporetto connection we needed. Breakfast was also very tasty. Tip: When you cross the bridge from the Ferrovia, with the station to your back, just look up the canal on the right and you'll see the hotel. If you're researching hotels in Venice you've noticed that all the hotels are expensive. This is my third stay in town, and far and away the best hotel I've had there. It was definitely worth the money. I booked via Expedia and everything went perfectly smoothly. My only niggle is that their WiFi requires that you log in again with your provided name/key combo every time you want to use it. Not too hard with iOS, but it can get a bit frustrating on a laptop if you have lots of tabs open. As I say, that's a niggle. How good is the staff? On our last morning I realized, to my horror, that a time zone subtlety in my calendar app meant that our flight home left in about two hours, and not later that evening as I had thought. Gianni was a hero: She expedited our check out and arranged for a water taxi to be there in five minutes. We made the flight with fifteen minutes to spare.

Yelp
The perfect location! We had a view of the Grand Canal from our bedroom. It's very easy to get to the train terminal from here (it is almost literally directly across from the hotel) and close to the main gondoliers. Very close to Piazza San Marco, the open market, OUTRAGEOUS top tier shopping..actually everything is very close in my opinion because the size of Venezia is not very big at all so we walked-or caught a gondola taxi (no cars at ALL) for 1 Euro- the entire city almost every day. The hotel staff is very helpful, and after a few days at the hotel they began to recognize us and would joke around even (sometimes common, but not very from my experiences in EU-Italy specifically lol). (As a person who loves history I just have to share this bit of knowledge I learned, Venezia is actually a lagoon. It was built by peaceful fishermen trying to escape the Barbarians & Huns attacking them, so for years they stomped the fortified trees in the area into the ground to get away and eventually were able to build Venice-the floating city- on those fortified trees after putting enough distance between them and the mainland! How cool is that lol!! This is why they had such an amazing Navy and were able to conquer much of the other regions during their World reign because the other's had no navy to defend against theirs.) (There is a late nite pizzeria nearby that's open until around 1am or so. You can grab some pizza to go, a couple of birra's and walked to Piazza San Marco and have your very own picnic!) It is a great starting point for you to explore this most beautiful city on Earth! I would live in Venezia for half of the year if I could! - and you actually CAN because some of the Doge's Palace rooms-Palazzo Ducale- are for sale to live in =D

Yelp
This hotel is excellent and is in a good location close to train station. The guests are treated like they should be in every hotel but usually arent. All employees were five star-above and beyond any expectations. The breakfast was great. Even a free tour by boat to Murano island ,there was the expected sales pitch but we were told about it before boarding ,very nice. Leaving Termini head to left ,cross first bridge, straight to first left turn down and across little bridge, continue to first open area then left towards canal ,hotel is on right side.

Yelp
If you want the flavor of Venice, this is the place for you. The location is excellent, close to water taxi stops on the Grand Canal, walking distance to good restaurants and a "postcard" view from your room. The staff could not possibly be more helpful. I had some questions prior to making a reservation and they were friendly and responsive, each time following up with an email. The complimentary breakfast is wonderful and the cappuccino was made to perfection.

Yelp
Definitely the best place to stay in Venice. The location is great, the staff is very friendly, so why not 5 stars? Well, my family of 5 (with 3 rooms) stayed there 4 years ago, and we stayed in the main quarters. We talked about the hotel ever since - the rooms were amazing, the beds were amazing, blah blah blah. This time, we felt like we were shipped off to the guest quarters - rooms down the way. The staff tried to make them sound better by saying they were bigger and newer and better, however, they may have been newer, but definitely not bigger or more grandiose. We may stay here again in Venice, but this stay cured us of lusting for this hotel. I guess if you want to stay in the main quarters you have to ask for that specifically. Who knew? I would think 3 rooms for 3 nights might get the best accommodations, but that was not the case. Don't get me wrong - it's still lovely, just not what we expected.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel! I agree with the previous reviews. The staff here are incredibly warm/welcoming/helpful. I was taken to my room personally to be shown how the controls for the air, etc. work and to make sure I had everything I needed. Very clean room and bathroom - great shower. With such hot/humid summer weather, the shower is as important as the bed. I appreciate the free wifi in a time when hotels charge loads for internet. I write this as I sit in the lobby bar/cafe sipping on a cappuccino and yummy cookies they brought me. As for price range, I want to note that it is moderate for the type of accommodation in comparison to prices of other comparable hotels I found online when I was searching. I will supplement after I sleep the night and eat the buffet breakfast (included).

Yelp
if you're a fat kid at heart like me, then it's like filling your belly full of dessert before even looking at the dinner salad, or getting to eat your "last meal" several times over before starting your kale cleanse diet. well, maybe not that extreme but Hotel Canal Grande sort of spoiled me and the wifey rotten at the beginning of our Italy trip (Venice, Florence, and Rome). my wife and i cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and service we received. although check-in was at 02:00, we arrived about 30 min early bc we checked out at noon from our previous Venice hotel (another wonderful little hotel by the name of Park Hotel Annia) and even after getting lost, still managed to arrive a bit early. anyway, we walked up to the hotel w/ luggage in tow and confessed we were a little early. well, Gianni and some other staff members greeted and welcomed us in and told us that not only was our room ready, but that we could choose between two different rooms. our original request was a room directly facing the canal and it was gorgeous. but then Gianni showed us another room on the top floor that had a wonderful private terrace. (the only room in the hotel that offers a walkout terrace!) from outside and from our two windows were beautiful views of the grand canal. we were sold and chose it. yes, it was a little smaller than the direct facing room but with the perfect weather, we spend most of our evenings out on the terrace eating pizza, sipping wine and listening to the violinist or accordion player playing sweet tunes just steps away from our room! w/ the light staying out till nearly 9:00, we couldn't have asked for more. not only was the room we had gorgeously decorated, it was spotless clean. the bathroom was the perfect mix of old school charm and modern comfort. each morning we had breakfast at the hotel and the morning staff were also wonderful. we were fortunate to snag a seat outside, right on the water the last morning we were there, too. the staff were also very helpful with directions to various points of interest and offered a great private water taxi that picked us up right on the water to take us to Murano Island, all courtesy of the hotel. the location of the hotel was perfect. very close to the train station, which we caught out to head to Florence. (we spent 2 nights at Hotel Canal Grande, btw...) thanks for the wonderful memories; we hope to return one day!!

Yelp
We booked one night here when our group tour finished and we planned to stay an extra night. It was almost half the price of the Hotel Abbrizio, nearby, where the group had stayed. Canal had good sized room, no elevator, great views out of our room, front desk service very good. Good location to be near train station and bus station. Exterior looks run down, but we had a great experience

Yelp
Checking out tomorrow, really sorry to have leave! Professional, attentive staff, great ambiance and location. Rooms were remodeled in the past year or two and feature modern amenities with old world decor. Rooms are on the small side, but this to be expected, and not a problem for us. Breakfast offers a nice variety, nothing better than sitting out on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal, watching boats cruise past and sipping a cappuccino. We will be back, highly recommend!

Yelp
Stayed for two nights with my wife and this place is great. Fantastic location, good size room and great people working. They even have a little patio on the grand canal that you can go eat or drink on.
