Croissant, however you prefer to pronounce it, is a golden flaky bundle of buttery happiness to me. On our continuous quest to try different Croissants offered in Houston, Vanessa found in her French forum a new spot that we haven't tried.
When we reach the cafe, it's where the old Inversion Coffee & Art used to be, right across the since relocated LES BA'GET. Right in the heart of Montrose, there's a diversity and coolness that are unique in this special part of Houston. We both love the high-ceiling opened-space do the architecture and bask in the chill vibe of the atmosphere.
Once we order, we pick a small table near the entrance that has beautiful light shining in from all sides. Vanessa takes a bite from the Plain Butter Croissant and exclaims that it's one of the best she ever tasted in Houston, and I trust her opinion as she grew up in Paris, plus I too, am impressed by it. The Twice Baked Almond Croissant has Almond Paste that has the right sweetness, which is rare in Houston and goes well with the Cappuccino and Chai Latte. The Espresso used is Ethiopian Guji from Hambella Woreda.
We decide to also try their cold Caprese Baguette that looks deceptively simple but enjoyable nonetheless. We find ourselves usually preferring the simpler food that has quality ingredients and is executed well.
For a short time of timelessness, we just be here now, with nothing to pursue, nowhere to rush, a luxurious pleasure we appreciate and don't take for granted.
