"Cancun Lighthouse is lying to us. Much to our disappointment, it looks nothing like an actual lighthouse. You’ll still get a little maritime vibe given that it’s right on the lagoon, where you can get juicy shrimp and colorful, frosty cocktails with an awesome view. It’s also right next to La Isla mall, so if you’re shopping for souvenirs, recharge with a frozen strawberry daiquiri and a shrimp burger, or a vegetarian burrito and fries. Whatever you order, grab a side of their excellent chipotle dressing—a luxury that you surely can’t get at most real lighthouses." - barbara gutierrez

First night back in Cancun, it has become a staple to visit the Lighthouse Restaurant located inside La Isla Mall. It is right at the marina, overlooking the water. The location is great. Last night they had a saxophone player adding to the experience. I always order the Red Snapper meal, and this time started with the Oysters Rockefeller, while my wife had the Tuna steak for the first time and the Shrimp Ceviche. The servers are professional, and never rush you. They allow you to stay there and enjoy the music, or just the company you keep as long as you like. The food is exceptional and again, has become a staple for us to visit when we arrive in Cancun. It isn't the cheapest, but you do get what you pay for.

They are scamming people. There is a group of people where the Waze or Maps app location is, selling tours to "Isla Mujeres" they offer you a trip on Ferry and a full fare "all-inclusive" trip. * The real thing is they send you on a bad shape boat, with inexperienced captain, with 10 more people. * They charge you for dock taxes in $15 USD and the real price is MXN$10. * At the end forget about your promised lunch, it will be never or very delayed. * You will be charged for anything you can imagine and you can't, $60USD per person was the final cost, for this amount you expect no less than a real all-inclusive trip, this is nothing like that. Total scam, be careful!

Very tasty and simple jalapeno margaritas ❤️🇲🇽

The shrimp cocktail and coconut shrimp 🦐🦐🦐 are the best I've ever had. We came here 5 years ago and have compared every shrimp cocktail to this and they always fall short. Yonathon was a great server. We will be back next trip to Cancun.

Karla

Google
I felt forced to eat her as they don't let you walk away if you walk by, but it was good lol

Google
Nice place but the salesman guy who works at the tour office was nice but EXTREMELY persuasive and aggresive. If you come here be careful not to be pressured to take a cruise ship to the isla de mujeres or anything you don't want to take. His tactics were a turn off.

Day before our fishing Carter we spoke to the staff and they allowed us to bring our fresh catch in and prepare it for us. Was an amazing experience and our server Isa was amazing, friendly and provided an amazing experience. 10/10 recommend With our fresh caught Baracudda we had 4 main meal 2 appetizers and it feed 4 men. And we ordered lots of drinks.

Where to start...? 1. The food was just ok. We got the Caribbean grill platter. The lobster and shrimp were overcooked. It was really overpriced. It was over $100USD for a mediocre seafood platter for two that would have been better a some chain restaurant in the US. 2. The service was terrible. They were harassing us to sit down and eat and then just disappeared for a while after we actually decided to sit down. Took them for ever to bring the drinks and the waiter was just starting out at the ocean for a while. He just brought us the glass bottles and no glasses to pour it into (which isn't that big of deal, but this place is expensive). 3. The waiter purposely added a 20% tip to the bill and was trying to hide it with his hand on purpose when he brought me the receipt to sign. 4. I asked for the food to go and after 20 minutes of waiting we just left. 5. No bathrooms. You have to walk down the way to use the mall's public restrooms that are disgusting and the doors have no locks and the sinks didn't have soap.

Yelp
We were delighted to find this place for lunch walking distance from our resort. A nice lady that was trying to attract customers gave us a coupon for a free guacamole appetizer or margarita. Since I was with the fam we opted for the guacamole which of course made fresh and was very generous. The margaritas were large, refreshing, and lifted our spirits. The food was very savory and satisfying. I really liked the cream of lobster soup served in a bread bowl. We enjoyed a great view of the lagoon and the mainland. The servers didn't speak English so I appreciated the opportunity to practice Spanish and they graciously corrected my errors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was the only place open before 11am at La Isla (the mall). We stopped in to have a beer and watch the water. They have a beautiful view, attentive staff and great decor. My only complaint- it was $13 US dollars for two Michelin Ultras before the tip. They had been $6 for two beers everywhere else. I want to come back here for a sunset, it had a great review of the lagoon.

Yelp
When we were in Cancun, my mom wanted seafood so we went to this place that I consider a tourist location. I typically like to visit holding the walls because these prices are more on the tourist side. But we enjoyed nonetheless the food my mom was really happy with the service and the taste of the food quantity. It's nice to sit at the seaside and see the boats coming in and out.

Evelyn L.

Yelp
We were wandering around La Isla mall and Lighthouse Marina just stood out of the rest. The restaurant is conveniently located right at the boat dock and right there you can enjoy the beautiful sunset while enjoying your meals. We had the pina colada and strawberry margarita which were amazing. Shrimp in garlic sauce was yummy as well. the buttery shrimp was marinated and seasoned to perfection. We do recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Yelp
Wow, what a change from 6 months ago. These guys are shysters. Draw you in with the offer of free stuff that we never got. The food quality is way down... and they add a 20%tip for the worst service. Never going back here. My advice is to stay away.

Ken S.

Yelp
This place is a nice escape from the noise of the Isla mall. It's in a corner away from the loud bars and blaring music. There was a fellow playing a sax when we were there that was very pleasant. There's an extensive menu focused on seafood. Everything we ordered was nicely presented and delicious. Service was prompt and courteous.

Yelp

Yelp
I have rarely in my life had a meal this bad. The food was basically inedible, and my wife (after having one bite) questioned whether or not the burger was actually beef or some other unknown meat. Overpriced too, with a basic lunch for two adults, two kids coming in at $90 USD. Only nice thing I can say is that the staff were friendly and hardworking. Avoid. You're far better off going next door to La Parilla.

Bella T.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to have some good seafood and walked by here. We had the large size oysters and the calamari! It did not disappoint, their drinks were excellent which was a definite plus. Definitely recommend this place.

Linda M.

Yelp
We were going towards the restaurant Nextdoor and a guy gave us a card for a free margarita so we went to look at their menu. Once we were looking at the menu the guy who gave us the card said he had spoken to the manager and that we were going to get free margaritas and lemonade for our entire party of 12. We were still undecided and looking at the menu and the server told us we would get to free guacamoles on top of the free margaritas. We fell like suckers since the offer sounded so good. Well the margaritas were tiny and overfilled with ice. Maybe three solid sips of tequila mixed with lime and water. The guacamole was good but definitely not enough for two people let alone 12. Then the server sold us a parillada claiming it had 2lbs of shrimp 2lbs of lobster 2lbs of octopus 2lbs of every meat on the darn thing. Yet when the parillada arrived it was not enough for four people as they priced it and sold it to us. It was a SUPER tiny tray with old overcooked/burnt seafood that made us sick. I regret eating it but we were so hungry. Three of us got diarrhea less than an hour after ingesting the food there. DON'T COME HERE!

Lavoni M.

Yelp
One of the best ceviches I've had, but I've only had a few in my life. Very tasty though. Got a few items cause i was hungry... enjoyed the red snapper fish, fried, (pay by gram), was really tasty especially the garlic butter sauce i dipped it in. Great service! The only thing that I was caught off guard was the tip that was already included... they run my Visa card and then my waiter didn't let me know till after probably because her lack of English speaking skills. I wanted to leave a good tip, but they took the responsibility of doing for me. Overall, I would come back, Enjoy!

L W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere at the pier with view of the water. There was a saxophone musician playing to the music. We got small complimentary margaritas for a table of six. Seafood was fresh. There was a great photographer taking pictures for their customers wearing sombreros. We kindly decline and she did not push or try to sell , which i appreciated. Food was flavorful. A little salty for my liking. Menu was simple and mostly seafoods with some American dishes(pasta and hamburgers)

Todd B.

Yelp
Hard to find a breakfast spot in the mall area, as most places don't open until 11am. The Lighthouse didn't disappoint, and the breakfast was fresh and delicious.

Kelly F.

Yelp
Amazing FRESH oysters on the half shell! Great atmosphere & evening entertainment - saxophone player the night we dined there.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Great meal. Deceptive practices. Waitress quoted 1 price (1/3 of actual price) for catch of the day, and I asked to be sure. She even showed me on the calculator. She delayed bringing the bill. I believe it was because she knew what she had done. When the bill came, it was triple the price. She then lied and showed the new price on her calculator. Another waiter came and said maybe she didn't understand. I explained that she was lying. They did not care. They take advantage of tourists, and the gratuity is included. Be warned!

Michelle S.

Yelp
They automatically add 20% tip. Very overpriced. Charged $5 US for 2 tablespoons of cheese. Food was fine. Plus they wouldn't serve us breakfast @11am even though the sigh clearly says serving breakfast til 12:30pm. Tried to upsell everything.

Daniél M.

Yelp
Food was not great and service was very pushy (I guess you can expect that). Make sure to check your check before paying - they added additional items on the bill and wasn't happy to remove them. Will not recommend anyone to eat here. Not sure how they got their ratings - maybe staff but don't waist your money here.

Rochane F.

Yelp
Overall 4 Stars food was GREAT and prices were awesome in USD. For 6 of us we spent $117. Drinks weren't the best as my frozen Margarita was watery (hence the 4 stars). The ambience is awesome as well, as it sits right on the marina. Augusto our waiter was real cool also. Great experience definitely a great place for dinner or lunch.

S H.

Yelp
Refused to take my AMEX or any credit card despite AMEX welcome signage. Food was good. 1200 pesos for a sangria, a corona, and one 3 taco plate. Free chips and salsa. Too much $ for what we received. Great water location though. Guy refused to take a credit card. Despite me pointing out an Amex sign in the wall. I wouldn't return.

John Farr F.

Yelp
We were a party of eight and the service was great. The location at the end of the pier is beautiful. However, a few in our group did not like there meals at all and the others just said their meal was ok.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Had dinner here on a cool night near the fashion harbour mall. We ordered the steak fajitas, which was recommended by our server, and enjoyed them. The portion was quite large and the steak was tender. Their guacamole was good too, nice large chunks of avocado. We also had fresh grilled fish that was seasoned well, nice and flaky. Then we had two tortadas. The octopus one was great but the marlin was way too salty for us. We also liked their complimentary nachos. The restaurant wasn't cheap, but I don't think any of the restaurants in that area are. All the seating is outdoor and you are right next to the waterfront. Our server was attentive and he made a good recommendation for us which was appreciative.

Kathy V.

Yelp
You have to walk past ALL of the coupon givers, tour sellers, and other pushy restaurant hosts to get to the Lighthouse. It's annoying, but learn to say no or shake your head and keep walking until you get here! (unless it is someone with a drink coupon for the Lighthouse....take that one...) Both times we went, Deyler was our waiter. Charming and fantastic. What more do you need in a server? Misael was also around and kept us laughing. Great staff here. The first night I got the fish tacos (the ones not actually listed under "tacos" on the menu. Very good. The next night (yeah, we went back the next night it was that good) I got the shrimp tacos. You can get them either fried or grilled. I went for grilled, put the chipotle-mayo sauce on them....so good! We also all shared the caramel crepe and the nutella crepe. Definitely worth the calories! Also worth the calories: the Golden Margaritas. My favorite margarita from anywhere during my week in Cancun. Before our meals came, they also brought a plate with cucumber and (I think...) jicama and the three sauces. A different kind of "appetizer". Light and good for you too! And you can't beat the view towards the sunset!

Yeret G.

Yelp
The food is so so when to get some fish tacos nothing special about them , bf got the salmon is was good again noting special. Order the guacamole for starters missing lemon and salt, got the fish ceviche way TOO MUCH SALT !! Also order the tuna and Marlin tostada return them tuna was flavorless Marlin was over powering with the what ever tomatoes paste the mixed it with. The service was okay when we go there no one greet us we literally walk to the bar to say hey (since they were all just talking there) maybe we should have took that as a sign.

Ryan C.

Yelp
The restaurant is located on the backside of the large mall on Hotel Row, so you have to walk through all the gift shops to get there. The view is fantastic overlooking the water. Honestly, upon arrival we weren't impressed. The view was great, but the restaurant was empty at 7:30p on a Saturday evening and it has a heavy 'touristy' feel. We had a group of 9 spanning ages of 7-64, so a lot of different types of people to please. This isn't a Mexican restaurant, so don't expect chips and salsa on the table (that bummed me out, but it was forgiven once I realized I chose a seafood restaurant not a Mexican restaurant). The following meals/items were ordered... Shrimp fajitas Chicken fajitas Veggie burrito Chicken burrito Chicken nachos Seafood fettuccine Chicken fingers Pescadillas Chicken tacos Across the board the food was good. Fajitas were well done, so the peppers and onions were great. The burritos were full and flavorful. The seafood fettuccine looked great and was devoured before I could get a pic or a taste. Pescadillas were a little thin on volume, but very flavorful. It was pretty hot, so everybody went with water or beer which kept the bill down. We had a 10% discount, so after tip it was $13/person. When we left, we all agreed that upon sitting down we thought we had made a poor choice. The restaurant just feels like a tourist trap (i.e. Over priced bad food). However, we all agreed that we would come back for the good food and prices.

Brian V.

Yelp
This restaurants offer very delicious food, but it's more expensive compared to others. We are some rice and lobster, and $120 feels overpriced for 3 people. We may consider going back if the food is a little less expensive.

Arthur D.

Yelp
The most amazing restaurant in La Isla! I'm sad I found so late during trip. It would have been my daily lunch.

Lisa W.

Yelp
We were looking for a great seafood place close to our resort in Cancun and decided to try this place. While a little hard to find, (it's at the end of a bunch of shops) the food and view were worth it. We ordered the salmon (delicious) and the whole fish with garlic (amazing). Our waiter, Gabriel, who is mentioned in another post was charming, friendly and very helpful. We sat right on the boardwalk and the views we're unbeatable.

P M.

Yelp
I like the outdoor seating , it has a great view and the service is excellent , the food i would say is very average , nothing outstanding

Alex r.

Yelp
Wow! Delicious food! Had shrimp in garlic sauce with rice , and catch of the day in Veracruz sauce with rice! Also had the shrimp pescadillas, so good! Everything was so Tasty and fresh !! Great service and view of the water and sundown! It's a must in Cancun! Will go back before our vacation is over!!

Renjie D.

Yelp
The food is ok. We ordered the seafood fettuccine and beef fajitas. They were both so so. A little bland. The staff are nice though but they were aggressive. The waiter wrote down the tip on the receipt not giving us a choice. Not really much Choices in this mall anyway.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
When in Cancun (at least 1x annually for last 5 years) always eat at the marina. Our favorite place, Baby Lobster wasn't open (anymore?). COVID may have killed the business. So we ate, here, one of the 3 water facing places on the marina. They basically serve all of the same type food. Food and service was good. Food and drink prices must have gone up since we've been here last because our bill was way higher than expected given what we ate and drank. However, businesses here are struggling so understandable.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Everything in he menu looks very good and sounds good . They had the best nachos we've ever had. The service was good too. The pricing are reasonable too.

Ramya N.

Yelp
This was my best dining experience in Cancun. They have a stellar view and very comfortable couches and friendly service. We had coconut water and beer for drinks. For appetizer, started off with Shrimp ceviche which was on point and so yummy. Ordered Whole Fried fish as entree, fish was perfectly seasoned, not too oily and came with side of rice and veggies. We were also served complimentary chips and crackers. once I was done with coco water, they converted the coco pulp in to a mini dessert for us.

Yvi C.

Yelp
Atmosphere : really accommodating we had a large group over 14 and we were able to get sat right away. Also we were able to see the tourists using jet packs and boat tours Food: pretty decent the boys loved the burgers. I had coconut shrimp which was a lot for one person Drinks : really good but I had the vampire and it gave me heart burn Service : pretty decent

David T.

Yelp
We enjoyed our food here and the service was okay, but the experience was ruined at the end by our dishonest waiter. We'd each had an alcoholic drink and perhaps he thought we wouldn't pay attention when he brought back our change, which was 100 pesos short from what it should have been. He quickly dropped that off and disappeared. We had to seek him out, and suddenly he'd largely forgotten how to speak English or how to do simple math. Finally got the missing hundred pesos but it eliminated our desire to go back there again, which we would have, otherwise. Dishonesty and attempting to take advantage of tourists took four stars down to one.

Jen W.

Yelp
Food was good but very pricey! Had the sea bass- shared with the family. Service was great!

Naz C.

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the edge of the shopping center 'la isla', but it is absolutely not to be missed. The people lure you in, just like any other, but they continue with the amazing service that you would expect. With each meal they serve chips and some fun dipping sauces. The chips are actually crispy (not so much at other places). This place (as with many others) has a drink deal. Buy 2 for the price of one (on most drinks). The best part is, it's not the dinky half size that you get free at other places. The coconut shrimp is HUGE and delicious. We didn't care too much for the mango sauce, but used the chip sauces and amazing pico instead. We got the breaded fish tacos and it was heaven. We left extremely full and happy! One thing, they hadn't added the tax to our meal so it was hand written afterward, which seemed a bit odd. Then if you're using a card, you have to select the tip while the waiter is standing next to you on the card machine. Overall, great service and probably best food in la isla!

Danielle R.

Yelp
Very fresh and tasty food. Prices were the best we found. They gave the best exchange rate for US $. And I had a huge fried fish which was awesome. Just see the pics. They start you off with this hicima (sp?) and cucumber mix with various sauces. It was refreshing even though my husband and I don't like those vegetables. Service was great and we got a table overlooking the lagoon which was nice. I highly recommend this place for a meal for sure.

Tina K.

Yelp
I loved this little restaurant. It's often looked over because it is at the end of the marina after a swath of restaurants and most people end up choosing a place to eat before ever reaching Lighthouse. Well my husband and I kept walking to explore and decided to try it because they had less business than all the other places and we were so glad we did. There were huge tv screens for sports which my husband loved. The service was really nice and the bartender even gave us complimentary shots. We ordered melon ball shots and blue lagoon cocktails and they were both delightful. We also shared the shrimp fajitas and they were awesome! The shrimp had a great char flavor and the vegetables were perfect as well. Skip the others and walk straight down to this place, you will love the service and the food and also a great place to watch the soccer games.

Rachel W.

Yelp
We choose this restaurant because they staff didn't yell at us to come eat there. The surrounding restaurants staff were aggressive. The lighthouse staff was courteous, the ceviche was amazing, the beer was cold, and the view could not be beat. Highly recommend.

Lynell W.

Yelp
I gave them a 5 star not because of the food ( because I didn't order any food ) but because of the service provided by our server Jerry Garcia. He was very friendly and great at explaining al of the drinks . Go and visit if you are in Cancun !

Heather D.

Yelp
Great option for lunch. Pescadillo were light and perfectly fried and the octopus tacos were tender and flavorful (one of the best octopus dishes were had). Ceviche was also just right with nice herbs and not to much vinegar to overpower the fish. The waitstaff is very attentive and the view of the bay and associated water sports (like water hover shoes which guarantee face plants into saltwater) will keep you watching in the shade sipping your cold cerveza.

Tommy L.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. I would give it a 4/5 for food but I didn't like the fact my waiter said the service is included and added 30% tip into the bill and charge my credit card for it. I always tip minimum 15% but I can't stand going to places and the local try to swindle you. Make sure if you come here that they don't automatically add 30% gratuity to your bill.

Alicia F.

Yelp
The food and service was so good here my boyfriend had the best birthday dinner of his life. Alfonzo is a wonderful waitress he was very attentive he surprised my boyfriend with his birthday desert. Hands down lighthouse has the best food and service in cancun.

Carrie D.

Yelp
Location was great but 3 out of 4 members of our party ended up sick. We had fajitas, coconut shrimp, burrito and hamburger

Marcia V.

Yelp
So good! So amazingly good! We had come here on our last trip to Cancun and knew this was going to be our first place for dinner upon our arrival. Walk past all the other people shouting at you to eat with them and was to the end to The Lighthouse. The service was always amazing. They have a sizeable drink menu and an amazing for menu. I am not a fish eater but my friends and family loved everything they tried. My favorites are the Nachos (technically an appetizer but more than enough for a meal or a meal to share) and the pork tacos. Both so good. It is also a great spot to watch the sunset, since it is at the end of the row of restaurants. Go here, please. It is fantastic

Donna P.

Yelp
We didn't have reservations we just walked over from the Westin. They will give you happy hour specials or a dinning discount if you say you are from the Westin. Happy hour specials seem to go on all day from open to close. Beautiful views sitting on the water by the marina. The service was great and our waiter was helpful and so nice. The food is very average, large portions and fresh. A solid restaurant to eat at. This is definitely a seafood restaurant but they do have some other options. I ordered a salad without seafood for a starter and it was delicious. I regret not having that as my main meal with grilled shrimp, octopus or scallops. I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas. Wasn't crazy about the chicken as they were grilled tenders and had some chewy pieces. They did make it GF for me and provided corn tortillas. My husband loved his coconut shrimp, it was crunchy but not over cooked.

Kris B.

Yelp
Juan was an amazing server! So nice and so helpful. My group started with the calamari, which was amazing. They offer cocktails and a small but decent selection of wines as well. I ordered the ceviche mixto and the octopus tacos. Everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. Salsa fresca and guac are awesome too. And the prices are super reasonable. Don't let me forget to mention the view - it's heavenly. Right on the water- perfect for taking in a sunset. It's on the back side of a mall, and all the other restaurants really try to get your business first, but don't be put off. Give it a try- totally worth it.

Mei M.

Yelp
Food: the fajita was pretty good and the shrimp burger was definitely interesting. Drinks: very affordable. Would definitely recommend this place for drinks. Con: service was a bit slow and the atmosphere is a lot more dead considering it's in a mall. I would give it 3.5 stars!

Aaron L.

Yelp
Very nice staff and clean. Great views over the marina. Seafood is very tasty - coconut shrimp and ceviche are nice. Prices seemed reasonable and fair at the time of this review. Open air a nice change with the breeze coming in. Bilingual staff too if Spanish isn't your strong suite.
