Yelp
Nice park. Has outdoor pool in season. On weekends soccer teams play on fields. Parking is available.

Yelp
Candler Park is a beautiful park. It's quiet and pretty. You can see people playing frisbee or hanging out. There's a parking lot with free parking. They have a gif course and pool. You can get there from Marta or by bus.

Yelp
My friend lives in the neighborhood so we came here to visit the Candler Park festival that was going on this weekend. The festival took up a huge amount of the park and the nearby streets, so it was a great opportunity to have a good walk around and see how big this park really is. Ball fields, shady spots, picnic tables and gazebos. Note that if you're planning to visit the Candler Neighborhood Park Festival, they have all the streets blocked off by the police. Only residents or people escorted by residents will be allowed in.

Yelp
These 55 acres may not get as much attention and foot traffic as Piedmont Park, but you're bound to like this park that flies a little more under the radar. Candler Park boasts a public golf course, swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, fields, pavilions, and the PATH walking/biking trail [Stone Mountain one]. And lots of flowering trees if you come at the right time. There are a lot of attractive and non-flashy houses in the neighborhood if you feel like strolling around the area. It's easy enough to continue your park wandering and meandering to nearby Freedom Park if you choose to do so. There are places for your car near the playground and pool, and street parking is also an option. I haven't been but there are some big festivals that occur at Candler Park, like the Fall Fest. Thumbs up for Candler Park!

Yelp
Candler Park is a neighborhood east of downtown Atlanta near Little Five Points. This review is for the public city park with the same name located within the neighborhood. The main entrance to Candler Park is on McLendon Ave. between Candler Park Dr. NE to the west and Callan Cir. NE to the east. The entryway is marked with one of the standard City of Atlanta park signs and has a stone "gate" at the top of the driveway. The driveway leads downhill to an area with ample free parking, one of the bigger perks of this park. Street parking in this residential area is free too. Remember to hide or remove all valuables from your car. I've seen the aftermath of brazen broad daylight break-ins in what seem to be very open, visible, and safe areas around the park. That's a fact of life in the City of Atlanta. Piedmont Park is no different. Freedom Park is nearby. It's to the west and a short walk from Candler Park. Freedom Park is smaller and seems to be a lot hillier than Candler Park. The grass and landscaping at Candler Park seems to be better maintained. The windy trail that leads through Freedom Park actually feeds into the Candler Park golf course. The Candler Park golf course is a nine-hole municipal course which is inexpensive to play on, but minimally maintained (ergo, you get what you pay for). It's great for beginners. The golf course occupies the northern part of the park. Along with the golf course, Candler Park has a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and fields for soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, etc. Plus pavilions and restrooms. These facilities are in "passable" condition. They've definitely seen better days. I'd say it's hard to expect more from the City of Atlanta. The best part of the park is probably the kids playground. The equipment seems relatively new and the woodchip surfacing comparably fresh and safe. Generally, the park feels clean and safe. The park hosts activities, events, and festivals regularly. Check the Candler Park Neighborhood Organization's (CPNO) web site or Facebook page for details, news, and info. Overall, Candler Park is a fine intown park and one of the better ones offered by the City of Atlanta.

Yelp
Candler Park is the reason I bought my house- I wanted to be near this lovely, quiet park. I cannot stand Piedmont Park because it is always so busy and it's a drag trying to find a street to park on. And I also do not trust their dog park. So, Candler is the answer to all my park prayers. It has a field for soccer or football, a basketball court , a golf course, a nice walking trail, a playground for the kiddies, a place to have a picnic, a field to just relax in, and a large swimming pool. The walking trail and golf course have lovely little bridges that lead you over the creek, and they have park benches all around so that you can sit and just enjoy the beauty. In the fall the leaves are breathtaking as there are a lot of huge, old trees all over the park. They also have a lot of festivals- but you should especially check out Fall Fest- it usually happens in the teens of October! I walk my dogs there daily and they enjoy it as much as I do! And I can let them off their leashes to cavort freely as there is usually no other threatening dogs to attack my 5 lb. babies!

Yelp
If only I could get rid of this mental picture: a man with three dogs let them take turns drinking from the playground water fountain. Each with its front paws up on the bowl to steady itself and long pink tongue licking water off the spigot.. That aside, I enjoyed my recent visit to Candler Park. The crowds at Piedmont can be overwhelming but here you have room to unwind in your own way. Spread a blanket and sit under a tree. Get your heart rate up by running or biking the pathways. Watch people play basketball or golf. Read historical markers sprinkled throughout the grounds, like the one honoring the working class African-Americans who lived there between the 1890s and 1940s. The parking is easy (in a lot adjacent to the playground), the pathways are designed for strolling and it's never as congested as Piedmont. Just don't drink the water.

Yelp
My brother lives only a couple blocks from this park. I love taking a stroll in this area, it's open, clean and pet friendly. Street or Free parking.

Yelp
My local park (if you don't count the much smaller Lake Claire park). Seemingly non-stop festivals and events during the spring & summer, good tennis courts and ample parking if you're not within walking distance. I really like the food trucks that seem to show up at CP's festivals. The neighborhood would be much poorer without Candler Park. Definitely, I'm a fan.

Yelp
One of Atlanta's many parks - a nice retreat in the middle of city. I drove to the Candler park area, bought a latte at Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party and then took a stroll through Candler Park. It was great. It must be an ideal spot for little kids birthdays because there was balloons, birthday cakes and the tasty smell of hot dogs over a charcoal grill. Yum! There are a bunch of restaurants and little shops nearby, so would be a nice area to spend the day - shopping, walking around, picnic in the park. There is also a pool, tennis courts, a community garden, playground and what looked like a golf course (not sure how many holes). Definitely check it out!

Yelp
This neighborhood in general has a relaxing small town feeling. I was happy to find this while visiting Emory.

Yelp
Great fields for frolicking and general pleasantries. The whole area is a little quirky in a great way. Grab some food at the market or dr. Bombay's and have a picnic here.

Yelp
Oh, how sweet it is to live so close to this perfectly equipped park with all of the greenspace, basketball courts, open air, and ample parking we need. Not only is Candler one of the nicer parks I've seen nestled in a neighborhood, but it's simplicity carries it forth as a staple for us. I'm really stoked to check out the golf course more. It's pretty gnarly to have a course tucked into the north part of the park and keeping tranquil enough to make it feel as though you're far into the burbs. It's like Candler wears a sweet hat that's all about golfing. Fooooooour! The field is by and the large the best part. Ample room for a picnic or seven, a game of ultimate and even a round of bocce. I really dig that there is a pool, too. Not the norm for a park this size. Can't wait to make this a more regular spot for us. Good things.

Yelp
I will be leaving my beloved Candler Park soon. In the early days of my neighborhood occupation, I filmed a VERY nice scholarship video with my sister and best friend on the golf course. Plus, I took my dear kitty-boo here for his first Birthday; he became puffy with gratitude (or fear?) when children came scampering toward him. He eventually succumbed and let me photograph him on the playground, atop the slide and on other brightly colored equipment. Not to mention the many festivals I've attended on the hippie-trodden grass: the Candler Park Fall Fest, the Midsummer Music Fest and the always well-attended Sweetwater 420 Fest. Oh how I will miss getting liquored up at my house and stumbling to the park, avoiding outrageous libation prices! And during Snowpocalypse 2011, I sledded down the hill by the tennis courts with my next-door neighbor. The slope and foliage encourage optimal speed. I've jogged by and through the park so many times, I know its cracks and crevices by heart. I could sprint up the staircase outside Mary Lin Elementary School with my eyes closed. Don't ask me to prove it, though.

Yelp
Candler park, let's get married. You're everything I look for in a partner: you're nice to look at, you're pleasant to be around, you're entertaining, you give me plenty of space, and you get along well with my dog.

Yelp
The city has completely re-done the basketball court and the soccer field at Candler Park. Even with the drought, the field is in pretty good shape. If you're around on a weekend morning during the Latin league games you can buy some excellent (and thoroughly unlicensed) food from the venders that take advantage of the crowd. Bobby Jones played on the golf course back in the day. That's pretty cool. The kickball league is charming in its profound goofiness. Sadly, the pool features too many unattended children for my taste.

Yelp
In spite of going to Agnes Scott and driving by this park for 3 years, I never paid it much mind. I ran in the ATC's Women's 5k today and got to experience the park up close and personal. I'm not exactly a park connoisseur, but this one is pretty darn nice. Even though there were 1600 runners participating in the race, it didn't feel that way at the finish line. I only got to see a small part of it, but it seemed like a nice place to spend an afternoon and not nearly as crowded Piedmont or another larger park.

Laura R.

Yelp
This is the grown up version of Piedmont Park. It super close to the city but you can come here and get lost in nature - and still feel safe. This park is huge and cavernous so you can find a social spot or a quiet spot depending on your mood. There is also a golf course, pool, track, etc. So there's plenty in the way of entertainment. It also hosts plenty of events like local races, 420 fest, and it's own version of Screen on the Green.

Yelp
420 Festival was great for the whole family. I went with my kids, both under 4, and the playground area was a nice size for them to run and play around. The park seemed really clean, and we had a great time. Only downside was the parking situation, but we expected it to be an issue, so we got dropped off.

Yelp
I shoot hoops here, play frisbee and go to 420 Fest at Candler Park. The big open space and tucked away grass is great and I've never had trouble finding parking.

Yelp
I have only been to Candler Park for festivals. It is not a bad walk from my home (~40min). Before I moved to the area, I drove there. Boy, is it hard to find parking nearby festival time. I would suggest walking if you can or Uber/taxi. The park is pretty big and is able to accommodate large crowds.

Yelp
I love Candler park. It's big enough for the kids to never get bored of the play equipment, yet small enough to never lose your kid! i like how it's located in the cul-de-sac of the parking lot and right off the golf course. I've never been when the pool is open, but it's looks pretty! it's a great place to throw a cook-out, a lot of room, some green space for kick ball, basketball courts. a very beautiful space of land. The little boys can go up an inclination and play in the forest. you will see the occasional hippie, it's candler park of course. the locals and the recreation park police keep this place nice and safe as it is.

Yelp
Back in the day before the new shopping center was erected, we used to live on Marion Place and would walk to Candler Park. Loved it as a kid and recently went back during the 420 Sweet Water Beer Fest and I can totally say this park has pretty much remained the same. I think the swings are still there that we used to swing on back in the 80's. Great for families

Yelp
This park has a little bit of everything: tennis, swimming, a big athletic field, basketball, and a 9 hole golf course. There's also a nice playground for the kids, and plenty of room to walk your dog or jog. In the Fall it hosts a small arts and crafts festival. I find the athletic field is a good spot to throw a frisbee with some friends, there's enough room for a full blown soccer game and if the field is empty you'll have loads of room to play.

Yelp
Has good festivals (Fall Fest, Midsummer Music Fest, Sweetwater Fest) and a great kickball league. Also contains a pool, public restrooms, tennis courts, and a playground. Sort of small with the parking lot located smack dab in the center of it. You miss out on the people watching aspect (during non-fest days), but you get to enjoy a sandwich without being accosted by an angry homeless man.

Yelp
I love Candler Park, especially for our new dog-child, Kaya! She has plenty of room to run and play and socialize with other neighborhood dogs. The park is well kept and the people who frequent the park are super friendly. The only downfall is that the bathrooms are rarely unlocked, so we aren't able to stay there all day as we sometimes wish. They have a nice playground, tennis courts and there is ample parking available. There are also picnic tables for those of you who would like to enjoy your lunch at the park!
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
This is the best place that I've played kickball in the city. There's ample parking, the field is well taken care of, there are nice trees for shade, there are public bathrooms just down the hill. What more could you ask for in a park? I wish I lived closer, but at least the drive is through Little 5, so there are entertaining places to stop on the way back.

Yelp
I like Candler Park alot. Candler Park is Kid- Friendly, Pet-friendly and is one of Atlanta's best kept secrets. My fiance and I go to the park to hit a few golf balls. My son loves to playground too!

Yelp
I'm sure I chose a sweet place to live whenever I go to Candler Park. It's lovely there! Sometimes I run, bike, walk, or stroll. I sunbathed once which didn't seem acceptable, but I tried to hide on a hill. I had a bathing suit on! The pool was closed - what could I do? It's so pretty here and great for a picnic or bocce ball. This is what I love about Atlanta - it's so green for a city!

Yelp
I needed to walk after stuffing myself for breakfast and the weather was not bad at all. The atmosphere was peaceful, a little concerned about all the dogs even if they have owners.

Yelp
Love Candler Park! Just off the beaten path of Moreland Avenue. Great little 9 hole golf course for the not so serious golfer or the super beginner. Great field for concerts and reasonably well maintained ballfields for throwing the ball around. There is also a pool and a pavillion area. Be careful for stray golfballs though! I don't have a dog but this would be a great place for another off leash park for canine friendly Atlantan's!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a beautiful day for the Atlanta Women's 5K in Candler park. I'll definitely be back for more 5K's or fun runs!
google avatar

Belle S.

Yelp
Didn't like this place so much. Had a hard time finding it and then it was just a few hills intertwined in a golf course area. I was afraid of stray golf balls. I was pretty disappointed. Parking wasn't bad though.

Yelp
Well kept, nice tennis courts and free, trails are in good shape, very pretty nad safe. Great place to take the dogs!

Yelp
Old crappy flowers! I could have done better job myself. So disappointed!!! Would never use them again!!!

Yelp
I love this park and I love this neighborhood. The park itself is a nice place to relax, bring kids to play, take pictures, or just visit. They also have many events like movies at the park, food festivals, and such. The neighborhood has many restaurants nearby. My favorite is fellini's pizza, which has the BEST pizza, and Dr.Bombay's. This neighborhood is great for just walking around, or actually doing things like attending events, eating, shopping, reading and buying books. And, parking is almost never a problem. :)
