Best Pizza in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"This beloved local chain is the go-to for many Dallasites, and with locations across the Metroplex, all of North Texas has now embraced it. The pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired grill and served piping hot, but don’t travel well — which is not great for takeout but wonderful to share for dining in with a group of friends. On the menu, find red or white pies with clever names like the Jabroni (pepperoni and pesto), Billy Ray Valentine (vodka sauce, smoked bacon, bacon marmalade, and sweety drop peppers), La Flama Bianca (ricotta, garlic, and crushed red pepper), and Truffle Shuffle (truffle mascarpone, prosciutto, roasted mushrooms, and truffle oil). The original location in Deep Ellum is Cane Rosso’s flagship, and for your first purposes, it’s the outpost to hit up. Diners will find a bar that’s great for solo diners, butcher block-topped tables, and plain cement floors. It’s not fancy; they saved that for the pies. Must-try dish: You’re not a Dallasite until you order the Honey Bastard at Cane Rosso. It’s got hot soppressata, bacon marmalade, and habanero honey. If you don’t fall in love, maybe it’s time to move to Austin." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
I love this place. They make real Neapolitan pizza. We started with the Cesar salad, so fresh and tasty. The prosciutto and arugula pizza is excellent, little crispy and full of flavor. I’m might be biased since pizza is my favorite meal!!! No seriously, this place serves one the best pizzas in town. Service is also very good, we sat at the bar and I believe our bartender’s name was Christopher, he gave us a very nice service, so kind and attentive. We definitely well be back!

Google
Cane Rosso is my go to for Naples, Italy style pizza in my neighborhood. It’s a relaxing atmosphere after a hard day of work. The staff and managers are very friendly. Matteo at the bar took great care of me too and suggested yummy drinks.

Google
Cane Rosso makes authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, and they are great! We had a group of 30 for lunch on Sunday at Cane Rosso. There is a private dining room with a large screen TV (for Cowboy die hard fans). The house salad and pizza were great, and the service was excellent and fast! The Cane Rosso and Margherita pizzas were delicious. These are the only ones we tried, but there are many others. Cane Rosso divides their menu into Red (with tomato base) and White Pizzas. All the pizzas are cooked in a wood fired oven. There is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. There is also plenty of parking. You cannot see Cane's Rosso from Gaston Avenue. Turn South at the traffic light at Tucker and drive up the hill. Taste first left into the parking lot. Try Cane Rosso, you will not be disappointed!

Google
Great New York style pizza. Lots of variations. We also liked the focaccia. We ate outside as it was beautiful weather. A great place to visit if you are going to Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum. It is only about 5 minutes away and was perfect

Google
Loved this place, definitely gonna come back. Despite it being a little difficult to eat, their version of Neapolitan style pizza is probably the best I’ve had. I can’t speak to its authenticity but it’s definitely worth it. They allowed me to customize the pizza as well which was nice. Only problem with Atmosphere was that it was pretty loud during the time I was there and pretty busy. Got the Fried Artichoke and Voodoo Mama Juju customized with red sauce instead of white. Both were great but the Pizza was amazing

Google
Look we know Cane Rosso is good! But Marco took it a step above what I could’ve expected! Customer service is top notch! Thank you so much for being an amazing human and I hope you pillow is always cool. 🤗

Google
Really good pizza done right. I liked everything about it but if I had to nit pick, the crust was not firm in the center of the pie. That makes this a fork and knife pizza. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but I prefer to eat pizza with my hands. I built my own pizza but there are several options on the menu that look great. The dessert menu looks amazing. I'm sure I'll be back.

Google
Fantastic is what sums up this place. I can't believe I missed the opportunity of dining here when I lived in Dallas for 5 years. Welp, you live and learn. Everything we ordered off the menu was delicious from the Cheesy Garlic Bread, Truffle Shuffle, Carbonara and the gigantic Chocolate Chip Cookies. Not to mention the Rosemary Parmesan Tots! These are definitely items I would order again on my next visit. Everything was fresh tasting, high quality ingredients and the service was phenomenal. The funky decorations are also a plus.

Yelp
I would definitely come back to this Cane Rosso (White Rock)! I went in on a Friday evening and it wasn't too busy. We had a lovely server who took our order right away and I really enjoyed the experience (the vibe inside was very chill and relaxed). Here is what we ordered: - Caesar salad (8/10) - Margherita; red pizza (8/10) - Honey bastard; white pizza (9/10) Overall, I would say this is a SOLID pizza place if you're craving authentic Neapolitan style pizzas. A bit floppy (to be expected with this style if you don't eat right away) but so delicious and flavorful!

Yelp
I hate to post this review, however this location has really gone downhill. Stopped in for dinner with just myself and two kids. Took an hour for two kid spaghettis to come out. My pizza and salad took about half an hour, but any parent knows how awful it is to have hungry kids waiting at a table with no food. They also charged me full price for house Rose during HH. When I asked why they said the menu was wrong and it's no longer on HH. Time to find a new pizza spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Mine and my boyfriend's go-to place for a dinner date. The food never disappoints and the service is always top-notch. On busy nights (generally Fri, Sat, & Sun) the food takes a while to come out, but that's to be expected. You can, however, make a reservation online to evade any wait time. For food, I recommend the Honey Bastard. The price point is fair and the waitstaff is generally prompt to refill drinks and follow-up on requests. The only bad experience I've had here was when the wait time for a pizza was over an hour and we seldom saw our waitress in that time. It was a Saturday night, however, so I can hardly knock them for that. The priority seems to be on take-out orders, sometimes, but I always enjoy my food so it's fine.
google avatar

Brad U.

Yelp
I do not like really wet pizza. Their adult beverages selection was wine. Not my cup of tea, but others seemed to enjoyed it. The management was very courteous and accommodating when they learned we did not enjoy anything. The Resturant was clean and tidy. Parking is an issue at this location (Deep Ellum). This is only the second recommendation by Guy Fierri that I strongly disagreed with.
google avatar

Samuel D.

Yelp
The pizza was flavorful, and definitely something I would eat again and plenty of! Worth a try if you're nearby to one. The service was fantastic, Erykha was nice in helping make a choice in a half and half option so we can try more than one flavor. The interior was clean, and the music wasn't too loud that you couldn't hear yourself which was great, and you could have actual conversations!
google avatar

Doug M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I discontinued visiting Cane Rosso back in 2015. I made the mistake of trying it again and remembered why I stopped going. The pizza tastes like a paper plate. Never again.
google avatar

Yelp
Good takeout pizza for us. Great ingredients. Not far from the (fantastic) Dallas Arboretum. We had a bit of trouble finding it - the address is misleading as it is on the upper level at that address, but not upstairs - it's around the corner and opposite. The website explains it pretty well, in retrospect.

Yelp
Cane Rosso offers their own unique twist on pizza and I find it absolutely hilarious that they categorize their pizzas on the menu by "reds" and "whites." My husband loves loves loves pizza, while I am more of a pasta gal myself. The pizzas here are so generous enough in portion and toppings that we can both share one and some pasta too, getting the best of both worlds. We've tried the Honey Bastard, Cane Rosso, and Straight Fire pizzas. Our favorites are the Honey Bastard and Cane Rosso, but we have yet to test the rest of the menu. The truffle carbonara pasta on the other hand, will prevent me from ever trying another pasta here. It is quite literally to die for! I order this every. single. time. And I still can't get enough! The truffle cream and bacon and egg yolk? That's what I call the holy trinity. I think I'll starting ordering 2 - one to eat there and another to eat at home because I immediately start to crave it again after just visiting. Try it, you won't regret it.

Yelp
My family and I came here after going to the zoo and looking at lights. I'm really glad I was able to make a reservation. They got a seated pretty quickly. We ordered the cherry and burrata for the appetizers and it was excellent. I loved it! My dad ordered their hot dog which was hilariously huge but he said it was great. The other four of us ordered two pizzas that are half and half. The Taste was really good but I wish the crust was a little crispier. I didn't really enjoy having to use a fork because every time I picked it up all the toppings fell off. The thin crust is great, I just wish it wasn't all goofy underneath the toppings. But this is a go-to for my little sister who lives near here and so we will definitely be back multiple times. The wines we had were very good as well. Thanks!

Yelp
I've always been a big fan of Cane Rosso, and this location is no different. The pizza is absolutely delicious--we tried the Billy Ray Valentine pizza, and it was superb, particularly the smoked bacon on top. And the restaurant is very family friendly--they had stacks of high chairs near the door, and the kids menu offered a smaller (but still big, I think) pizza for a reasonable price ($7). Service was great, and the pizza came out quickly. I'm a fan!

Yelp
Amazing experience and great food. Our server Michael was fantastic. Best service and delicious pizza! I ordered the honey bastard, which is their #1 and I can see why! 5/5 experience. Michael is the best so make sure to ask for him if possible :)

Yelp
My friend and I visited Cane Rosso on an early afternoon Wednesday. As one would expect the place was very empty which was OK with us. It gave us a chance to take in the ambiance which is both comfortable and stylish. The interior is large with a separate room, I'm guessing, giving groups some privacy. Since the weather was perfect we chose to sit outside in the "courtyard " which features picnic tables and an elevated deck which adds interest and atmosphere. We felt comfortable and "at home". But all the atmosphere in the world is wasted if the food isn't good. The food was good. Very good. We shared a Caesar's Salad and the pizza of the month. The salad was fresh and tasty and included anchovies (which I could do without). The wood fired pizza was delicious topped with a light sauce, pesto, sausage, and a chili oil. A word about the crust. Our server gave us a heads up regarding it. It was a bit chewy and the texture seemed softer. More bread like. My friend had water. I opted for the Roller Town Big German Kolsch which was the right choice for me. Our server went over and above. He explained the particulars of their process, was friendly and was timely in bringing food and refills. This Cane Rosso is a little bit different to find. It's located on the upper level of the shopping center at the Gaston, Garland, (East) Grand intersection. Turn at the light and go up the hill. It's a but of a chore to find it the first time. But definitely worth it. I know we'll be back.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is impressive. The wonderfully relaxed atmosphere coupled with the absolutely delightful personnel makes for an exceptional casual dining experience.

Yelp
The happy hour is great! This place is tucked up on the hill but has indoor and outdoor seating. The happy hour is $2 off apps, highly recommend the artichokes. It came with so many and they were so tasty. They also have select pizzas for $7-$9. There are so many interesting combinations for the pizzas. I went with the Ella which has hot soppressata and homemade mozzarella! Yum! It's shareable for sure. The service was good, she checked on us regularly and brought us extra red pepper and cheese.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
The service was slow...when my friend and I first got sat...it was like we weren't there. Then her family showed up and we got someee help. The honestly could've made far more on all the people drinking. The food was good though. I got the truffle carbonara and it wasn't JUST truffle. The sauce was tasty. Cesar salad - I really liked it. I liked the anchovy on top. Everyone was like eww. Not me, give it to me! Lol we just got one but, it was enough to share. Burrata was perfect amount of sweet and acid. It was my faves. It wasn't spicy. Meatballs were okay. My friend really wanted that. Everyone got pizza and it was a lot. Definitely can share one pizza with 3 people but, no one shared. LEFTOVERS. Tasty food but, the service game needs to improve big time. Everyone walking by should be someone who can help. Not just the ONE person. I'd eat it again. I'm not from Dallas so it's not like I'd go out my way. Lol
google avatar

Bobby H.

Yelp
Pizza had about two inches of the dough around the circumference of the pizza with NO toppings. It was also barely even warm, maybe room temperature. $28.35 for this tepid, soggy and poorly topped pizza.
google avatar

Jyreka N.

Yelp
Didn't go inside, my brother went inside to place and pick up order. But the parking lot and outside was clean. He said the cashier was nice. He only ordered the Margherita pizza as a snack. The cashier was like are you sure, it's not like regular take-out pizza. Which was true and understandable why he gave a heads up. The pizza was so fresh & tasty! Def recommend.

Roger J.

Yelp
I love other Cane Rosa locations but your food is not the same, I have ordered many times over the past few months and it has been consistently bad, bolognese that is nothing more than a glob of mozzarella and too salty sauce. So this last time I ordered your spaghetti and meatballs what I got was a tough doughball over cooked swollen mushy pasta in a too salty sauce. I will never patronize your establishment ever again. Unforgivable to do that to pasta.
google avatar

Izzie P.

Yelp
Good food. Food came out fast, drinks were a little slow but only because it looked like the servers made the drink for their tables. No "bartender" per say. We were quick to be sat & the server was great at checking in on us. Beautiful inside and outside dining area!
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
New to this location on Gaston, so completely satisfied with our experience. Just goes to show the quality and consistency of any location of Cane Rosso you visit. We had to have the Truff Daddy again after falling in love with it when it was feature Pizza of the month at the Star location within the last few years. We shared the delicious Buratta and Peppers, wetting our palette with ice cold Peronis. Our 1st taste of the Truff Daddy brought back the eyes rolling back in your head, taking your breath away reaction we shared the 1st time at the Star. Great Pizza and quaint location, so don't miss out!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not sure if there's much more I can add to the accolades of Cane Rosso. Neapolitan pizza is my favorite food, and Cane Rosso is one of my favorites spots for it in Dallas. Though a little pricey, this restaurant is worth the occasional splurge. During this visit, I shared a plate of rosemary tater tots and fried mozzarella balls with my table. The tater tots are what you expect (the ranch was surprisingly delicious though), as well as the fried mozzarella balls. The pizza was an absolute 10/10. I shared a Honey Bastard pizza with a friend and it was delicious. The mixture of sweet and spicy flavors was so good- I highly recommend it! The service at my visit was very good. We had a large party, and they were happy to accommodate us. When it came time to splitting our bill, they were even willing to split mine and my friend's pizza onto two separate bills. So convenient!
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
Miss the Austin location so decided to drop in for lunch with daughter #2 (she literally lives across the street). Really like the vibe. Cool indoor/outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Friendly (a little too attentive) service. Cocktails are a little weak (probably b/c there is no dedicated bartender - wait staff does double duty). Pizzas are great. Made to order with quality ingredients.
google avatar

Carmen C.

Yelp
I was surprised how good the gluten free pizza was at Cane Rosso. I was pleasantly surprised. As a pizza lover with celiac disease, I have tried so many GF pizzas and this one was probably one of the top 5 I've had. Best one was in Italy at a completely gluten free restaurant. But we know the flour in Italia is different and AMAZING. Try Cane Rosso, you will be happy.

Nicki G.

Yelp
Food, service and location was excellent will definitely go back again and again. The brick oven pizza and salad and apps. We're the best.

Celina L.

Yelp
First time going & it won't be the last. Mike was such an awesome server and gave great recommendations. We tried that honey badger pizza 10/10 !! Also tried the vodka pasta so good ! Easy parking as well
google avatar

Ricky B.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner with my spouse and there was a 35 minutes wait on a Friday night. Hostess asked if would like to sit at the counter. On a whim we said yes. What's fun experience. We were right next to the guys slinging the pizzas and got to watch all the action. They were great and even answered questions we had about certain experiences. It really made our experience as we enjoyed the entertainment. We love pizza and have eaten some great pizza. This easily made our list places we would happily return to again. We had the fried nuggs and the Honey Bastard.

Mar M.

Yelp
Usually love the pizza here, but today I stopped in to order the Marghareti to go and waited for it. Service was definitely not up to par and the pizza was a huge disappointment when I got it home. Not completely cooked and very soggy, I only live 2 minutes away so it should have been fine. Not sure if I will go back.
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
This is our favorite Cane Rosso location. The staff is wonderful and we've never had any quality control issues like we've experienced a few times at some of the other locations. If you're new, the fried nuggz or the brussel sprouts are our favorite apps, the frose is fantastic, and every single pizza on the menu is wonderful. We're very fond of the Ella and the Honey Bastard.
google avatar

Lucy M.

Yelp
Stopped by this Cane Rosso location for the first time last weekend to meet up with a couple of friends for brunch and we had a great time! It was my first time trying the brunch offerings at Cane Rosso as well and they do a great job melding brunch foods with pizza. The three of us split the Bodega and the Bacon Jamz and it was the perfect amount of food with a bit left over to take home. I really liked the everything bagel crust on the Bodega pizza, though it did get a bit burned on one side. Loved the inclusion of spinach artichoke dip as well. The Bacon Jamz also had great flavor and texture, though I was surprised at the Canadian bacon used (much more hammy texture) and would probably have preferred crisp bacon. The three of us also split a carafe of mimosas and there was a great amount, enough for each person to get one refill. The location wasn't super busy for noon on a Saturday, and service was great. Looking forward to my next Cane Rosso visit in the metroplex - this location is a winner!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Good choices are amazing and great for the entire family! The pizza choices are diverse and yummy
google avatar

Paul P.

Yelp
You get the local experience here at Cane Rosso - handcrafted pizzas (specials run all year round, with a new rotator pizza), craft beers that rotate and a great bar to saddle up to. I came for the pizza, I'll continue coming back for the fried artichokes - and the pizza. Great spot to sit back and let the attentive staff take care of you! When the weather is nice, there's plenty of room on the patio!
google avatar

Evan L.

Yelp
Solid price for the pizza quantity. They allow you to do half and half of pizzas which was nice for trying different flavors. The fried artichoke appetizer was decent but I'd probably opt for something different next time
google avatar

Doug A.

Yelp
Great pizza! Good service. Nice ambiance. Patio is dog friendly. Recommend if you like this style of pizza.
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
Amazing place! Came by to eat some lunch with my daughters and they enjoyed every bite. They got a kids pasta with Alfredo sauce and we shared a margarita pizza! The pizza looks and tastes superb! Amazing professionalism from the staff. Sadly we are just visiting Dallas for the week and going back to houston but this place is a must try and if you live around here I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The place is also quite and comfortable for children! Thank you again!

Matt N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Cute restaurant hidden in a shopping center. Mood was not impressive. Mac and cheese was overkill and the flat bread/pizza was underdone and limp. Dissappointing.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs here, the meat was very dry and under seasoned. The meatballs at Costco had more taste. I was about ready to ask for more sauce to make it manageable. They prioritized online and phone orders over those who had reservations. Never seen service so slow before and I am a patient person. An hour to get a couple of pizzas is a bit too much. They didn't provide an update as to the status of our order and kept us waiting. The only good thing was I was able to make a decent conversation with the people who I was seated next too.
google avatar

Nick D.

Yelp
pizza is awesome but service can be unbearably slow. Definitely got hit with some shrinkflation. Again, pizza is great but not a great value.
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with the Honey Bastard: it's the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, and the bacon marmalade adds a great punch of flavors. The delicate textures of the toppings match the light & airy crust.. the next-best thing to visiting Italy? Quite possibly. The fried artichoke appetizer was good: the artichoke pieces were juicy and not stringy for the most part, and the calabrian chile aioli tastes unique and delicious. Their patio is expansive and has heat lamps. Bring your dog (or pet your neighbor's), and you've got the perfect fall day.

Kenneth J.

Yelp
Chill vibe and good pizza. Service is typically friendly. An all around good choice for dinner when your craving good pizza

Blake M.

Yelp
Our favorite pizza restaurant in Dallas Wood Fired Pizza is superb as is the service and super helpful and friendly employees. Cane Rosso "has it going on"
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Great lunch spot. The restaurant and the patio are quite large and the bar has lots seating. The ranch dressing was Soooo good! I had the lunch special w/ Caesar and pepperoni pizza. I was nervous about that the caesar b/c of the menu's reference of anchovy. My server assured me to it was just a garnish. I just let them keep their anchovies. The pizza lunch special and Caesar is reasonably priced and yummy!

Cole W.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing Italian food! I highly recommend this great restaurant. The staff were very friendly and made good suggestions for me to try.

Leilany N.

Yelp
Great service every time this is a favorite pizza place on my list . The food is amazing you also have to try their deep dish pizza at thunderbird also when in the area since the location I go to they have it right next door .
google avatar

Alona E.

Yelp
Pizza was phenomenal and I went on my birthday it made my day ... nothing like hot fresh pizza and flavors that pop in your mouth every pizza we tried was amazing in my open and it's wood fired yes lawd ... I love it will be going again soon ...

Jesse R.

Yelp
Different pizza than what you would see at your regular pizza place. But not really good in my opinion. My friends said it was okay. But we all agreed prices are high for the amount of pizza you get.

L C.

Yelp
This place is just sooo good!!! Love it!! Fried nuggz are bomb and the Betty pizza a must.
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Went for a family birthday event. Thin floppy pizza, very good. Service was very kind.
google avatar

Kathy B.

Yelp
Wow we had a great time at the Cane Rosso first time visiting and will definitely would be visiting again the service was great and the food was wonderful
google avatar

Harry C.

Yelp
I'm struggling to keep this at a 4 star while writing this review. Picked up a Margarita pie. Service was good and so was the ambiance. But the pizza was a little bland. Remember eating lunch pizza at school? Similar vibes here. Also, the pie wasn't cut into slices -seems like an easy fix. Don't get the margarita, go for something different.

Peter H.

Yelp
Great pizza, but DO NOT consider dining here on a Friday or Saturday. It took them over an hour to bring our food. The server was very apologetic and explained that 40% of their weekend revenue is from online orders / pickup, which has thrown a wrench into their operation. Great. Buy another oven, staff up, comp your customers for the wait time, do something to not kill the customer experience. You are failing, management!!!Needless to say, we won't be back anytime soon.
