18 Decadent Milkshakes To Try in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Another serious contender in the adult milkshakes category, Cane Rosso’s location at The Star in Frisco has partnered with Cow Tipping Creamery to create the following crazy shakes: Pina Cow-lada, Pancakes & Sizzurp, and the Old Fashioned Shake, all with booze, of course." - Rachel Pinn

Visited on a date night with my partner. We ordered fried artichokes to share, I ordered chicken Parmesan, and my partner ordered the Star pizza (a special here). The fried artichokes were alright, akin to fried pickles in a way. I felt pretty average about them but they weren’t gross or anything. We did substitute the sauce for ranch since I’m not a fan of spice. My pasta was surprisingly better than expected. There was a pleasant bite to the noodles and the sauce had a vague wine flavor to it. However, the chicken was burnt and I honestly could’ve done without the fast food pizza esque cheese on the top. Overall a decent dish. The Star that my partner got was great. The ricotta pockets were lovely and the dough around it was cooked very well and tasted great. My partner expressed that he wished the pockets had more ingredients inside them but they were good regardless. I felt pretty average about my experience here. It was slightly above avg food but nothing like some other Italian foods of a similar price in the area. I can definitely vouch that the pizzas seem stronger than the pasta here.

I absolutely LOVED the Carne Rosso in Carrollton. I've been there about 3-4 times, and the pizzas have always been excetional. So it was such a disappointment to be getting the worst pizzas I've ever had. They were burnt and chewy. Some of the toppings were sparse. And the margherita was basically just a cheese pizza. For the asking price, this was completely unacceptable. All this to say, I recommend the location in Carrollton. Even when they're busy, the pizzas were amazing. When I went to pick up these pizzas, there were hardly any tables taken.

David Hinnant

Google
My overall experience here I have to give 4 stars. The pizza was just average though. I get the 900 degree flashy-flashy oven concept but the dough in the center is simply undercooked. Especially on the Cane Russo-based specialty pizza with lots of greasy meats. I had the latest spicy version. It's also unrecoverable and inedible if you take the leftovers home. Reheating in an oven doesn't help. Go for a veggie or one with just one meat.

Google
Cane Rosso isn’t just a pizza place—it’s an experience. From the moment you walk in, the smell of the wood-fired oven pulls you straight in and sets the tone for what’s easily some of the best Neapolitan-style pizza around. The crust is that perfect mix of chewy and charred, with just the right amount of blistering from the fire, and the ingredients are always fresh, bold, and full of flavor. Their menu offers a great variety, but we always find ourselves going back to the classics—Margherita, Zoli, or the Honey Bastard if you’re feeling adventurous. The mozzarella is house-made, the sauce is light and zesty, and everything comes out of that blazing oven with a touch of rustic perfection. The atmosphere is laid-back but lively, making it a great spot for date night, family dinner, or catching up with friends over a couple of pies and local craft beers. Cane Rosso nails that balance between casual and high-quality, and it’s clear they take their pizza seriously without being pretentious. Hands down, it’s our go-to place for wood-fired pizza. Once you try it, it’s hard to go anywhere else.

Google
The hot honey pizza was AMAZING! Love the wood fire grilled taste with the spicy sweet- great combo! The smokey wood oven is pretty cool to see. (If you get it to go... be aware the honey runs and the box got leaky so being extra napkins and don't put the box on your lap! )

Google
Great food, interesting sporty atmosphere. The service by our waiter Maggie was wonderful, She gave us a run down of the menu and some suggestions of her favorite dishes and drinks. I got the Star Pizza and my partner got the Spaghetti with Chicken Parmesan. We also got an order of the Artichoke Classique as an appetizer. I quite liked the Artichoke Classique, It was like a cross between fried pickles and a blooming onion, would recommend! My partner's spaghetti was pretty good, the noodles tasted fresh and springy and the sauce was exceptional. The chicken that came on top was well seasoned, but was noticeably burnt. My Star Pizza was the highlight of our meal, such an inventive dish. The dough was well cooked, both in the calzone pieces and pizza pieces. The points of the star are filled with delicious ricotta, and I don't even like ricotta. And the middle has flavorful pepperoni. I would have loved the points of the stars to have pepperoni as well, but this was still an amazing dish. Aside from the burnt chicken, this place was amazing and I look forward to coming again.

Google
A fantastic pizza spot with a diverse and intriguing menu, serving up a thin, perfectly cooked crust topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. The vibe is cool, that makes it a great place to unwind and enjoy a great meal. The service was decent—nothing exceptional, but efficient enough to keep the experience enjoyable.

Google
A cool pizza place at a good location I have longed wanted to try this since I have moved to Texas in 2019. The pizza is Neapolitan style; it’s cooked at a very high temp and as a result come out very quickly. Honey Bastard. The pizza was okay. I was shocked how underwhelming it was. The spicy honey, the savory meats and cheese melded together very well. I think I wish it had more basil on it so to help balance the overall gravitas of the pizza. FYI. Wait to be seated. Great service. I’d have to go back to try the more traditional pizza variety.

Yelp
I love wood fired pizzas and so far, I believe Cane Rosso is my favorite. The first time I went was about a month ago, we ordered a margherita pizza with fresh jalapeños and split a chicken fettuccini alfredo pasta. When we got our food, our server mistakenly gave us a pizza with pickled jalapeños, but then we asked for fresh jalapeños and she quickly grabbed us some in a ramekin. The pizza was spot on, whereas the Alfredo pasta was unique-it wasn't bad, it was just very different from what we expected, but we wouldn't order it again. The second time we went was last night, on a Thursday. It was very surprisingly very busy. We were sat in the patio by the hostess and we sat there for a while without getting any help. Two of the servers outside in the patio kept looking at us, but didn't reach out. A table was then sat after us and the server immediately attended to them then we saw her talking to a person outside the restaurant across the street. After a while, the hostess came up to us and asked if we've been helped yet and we told her we have not, so she helped us. We ordered everything right then and there and everything came out within a reasonable time. We weren't given any side plates nor silverware, so I had to grab them myself on the stand-there weren't any side plates on there, but I did get us silverware. It was also a game night where the Dallas Stars were playing, so the TV playing upstairs was right above us and it was extremely loud (not the restaurant's fault). We ordered a pomegranate mule, fried nuggz, and a margherita pizza with fresh jalapeños. The pomegranate mule consisted of a variety of fruit flavorings with vodka and ginger beer. However, it tasted like straight vodka with a tiny hint of flavorings, didn't really taste much ginger beer. It wasn't what I expected and if I were to get it again, I may ask for extra syrup/juice. The fried nuggz is just mozzarella cheese bites-very mediocre, but the marinara sauce was fresh and good. For the margherita pizza, this time we did get the fresh jalapeños like how we ordered. However, this time the pizza was very wet and soggy. When you would pick up the pizza slice, all the topping would immediately slide off of the crust. It was still good, but not as good as how we got it the first time. The flavor was the same, but the texture was not. The first time, the pizza was baked to perfection. I don't blame them, it was a busy day and I totally understand how it goes because I am also in the food industry. Just because our second experience wasn't as great as our first, we would still give it another chance. I just hope the next time I go, the service is more attentive.

Yelp
The more I think of our experience last night the more I'm disappointed. I don't know that we did anything to upset our waiter, but his attitude was off-putting from the beginning. He became disgruntled when we all ordered water. He came to fill our waters and he filled my husband's water and my teenager's water. Mine was as empty as theirs and he still had water in the pitcher. He didn't fill mine and walked away. I joked with my husband if he did it on purpose-- which I would have thought was an oversight. However, he did it again later in the meal. I do not know why he was so disrespectful towards me. Plus-- we are good tippers-- and it's me that writes the tip amount and pays the check. This waiter needs to find another job. I love the food and setting at Cane Rosso-- but customer experience needs some improvement.

Yelp
Great Happy Hour Spot!! Cane Rosso in Frisco has great vibes and service! Ample parking spaces around on a weekday! My friend and I visited for the first time for HH on a weekday around 4pm! Our server was so patient and kept the drinks coming! When it came to the food, we got the spinach dip and ella pizzas. The spinach dip was so addicting! We also loved the Ella! The dough was amazing!! So happy with the HH deals and great service!

Yelp
We LOVE cane rosso. Whether we go in person or order through DoorDash, we always get good pizza. The Star without the pepperoni is a favorite of ours. Along with the classic margarita. Not sure you can order anything bad here.

Yelp
It's so sad. We have eaten here (various locations) for as long as we can remember but the last two visits, something has changed and pizza doesn't look or taste the same. Today, we got one that was turn outside and inside that parts of inside was hard like a piece of Wasa crackers. I Found out that pizza guys have changed and it looks like they haven't trained them or quality control isn't just there. Sadly, we won't be coming here anymore.

Yelp
pizzas delicios y las brussels sprouts super recomemdables , siento que le falta dorar un poquito mas la masa , pero de sabor super deliciosas

Yelp
We stopped by after a long day of travel and we came hungry! My colleague had the pizza and I had the chicken Parm sandwich inside Caesar salad. Sometimes it's tough to judge the food quality when you are so hungry, but this definitely tasted great! My colleague could not finish the pizza and brought the rest to the hotel for snacking later.

Yelp
Went there tonight and was seated on the patio right away. The weather was perfect, as was the easy access to the field at the Star so my kids could run around while we waited on the food to arrive. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a Friday night. The margaritas were surprisingly some of the best I've had in a while. Not too sweet, not too tart - delicious and strong. We ordered the honey bastard pizza which was divine as always. Perfectly greasy with a kick and a nice sweet and savory balance. The star of the show however was the truffle carbonara pasta which was TO DIE FOR. So decadent and rich in the best way. Definitely a diet killer, but worth the calories. The kids had the mac n cheese and tater tots which were also good. Service was also top notch. Could not have asked for a better meal. 10/10

Yelp
dani amazing server the best I've ever encountered she was on top of her game from the beginning to the end she's awesome !!! all my kids loved her interaction! she works well with handling many tables that night and still made sure we were taken care of

Yelp
Cane Rosso was great! It's located in The Star which is a beautiful area right near Ford Center. Cane Rosso offers tables, a bar area, and a patio looking at Ford Center. I sat at the bar and was served quickly. The staff was so incredibly friendly. Brian was at the bar when I sat down and chatted a little bit, answering questions. I heard him suggesting some places to go around the area to other people who asked. He was great!! The Pomegranate mule was a great twist on a mule and easy to drink. the pizza I got was oily but didn't take away from the pizza. The arugula was very fresh and the dough so chewy. I will be back!
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
For the love of Pizza, please bring back your calamari! Haven't been back since, y'all took it off your menu. I miss the honey badger pizza, but the calamari is a must.
google avatar

Carrigan R.

Yelp
This is our FAVORITE pizza place!! The Brussels sprouts are an amazing appetizer. I did not like Brussels sprouts until I tried theirs! The Honey Bastard is by far our favorite pizza. My husband is allergic to dairy, and we get the vegan cheese with the honey bastard. It still tastes amazing even with the vegan cheese!
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
The manager here is rude!! Very unprofessional came in with a group of people ordered drink and she asked us to go outside and drink. She shouldn't be a manager at a restaurant!!!
google avatar

Byron S.

Yelp
We have been here many times when we visit the Star for high school football games. Our party size is usually around 6, so we always call ahead for a reservation. They offer awesome customer service and many food options. I highly recommend and make sure you give them a try. Enjoy!

PAul R.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place messed up our order and wouldn't fix it. Sent us some salad pizza with no flavor we didn't eat. Called to get it fixed and they acted like I was lying about my order. No big deal I can pay for a pizza. I'm not trying to get something free here. Just want what I ordered. Chet the manager and Ben at the front were the ones that took my calls and wouldn't help us.
google avatar

Suzy D.

Yelp
Very underwhelming pizza. Ordered the pizza with prosciutto, like 2 slices of prosciutto. Not sure what the craze for this place is.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Home bastard pizza. GET IT. It's the best flavors all married together. Artichokes - so good! Freshly breaded and lightly fried. They have Blue Moon and sangria on tap! The bartenders are always friendly.
google avatar

Gabe T.

Yelp
The fault in this, otherwise brilliant pizza place, is the service. Cane Rossi has carried on the tradition of the original store in Deep Ellum but little else. Food They have all the standards. Honey Bastard as the main course with fried Artichoke appetizer is by far my favorite combination of treats. The menu doesn't change but when it's that good why would it need to? Ambiance If you're a Cowboys fan you'll appreciate the bear hug this restaurant gives the fandom. Even we appreciated the pizza oven shaped like a football helmet. Service Our waitress was new but good. The hostess, the entry point the business almost made us look elsewhere. We called for a reservation at 9pm Friday night. She answered and said, "we don't take reservations" and hung up. I did have a follow up question but... didn't get a chance to ask it. They must be packed, I thought. When we arrived there were only a handful of tables and the hostess was too busy talking to acknowledge we were standing there. When she finally came over, she pointed us to a table and off we went.
google avatar

Jimmy T.

Yelp
Cane Rosso has one job: make good pizza. And in our experience, they failed. We got a bland, boring, and chewy pizza that was nothing like the pizzas we had in Italy. It wasn't even close. We had to tear off each bite as if we were Hyenas feasting on carcass.
google avatar

Samra H.

Yelp
I had the La Flama Blanca pizza. It was fresh and flavorful. The cheesy garlic bread was good as well. I did try the spinach dip and that wasn't my favorite but overall not bad. The service was not the fastest. It took a while to get 2 drinks that were ordered. Hopefully that's not the norm and just a one off type of day.

Lee M.

Yelp
The service and food quality has really gone downhill. The hostess seemed annoyed that she had to actually work and seat us at a table. The waiter was no better as we sat there for 10 minutes before he even came over...and the restaurant was only half full with several staff standing around talking to each other. When the food came out, one person got theirs, 5 minutes later another 3 orders came out and a couple minutes later the remaining 2 orders finally came out. What happened to serving the table at the same time? Food quality was ok, definitely not what it used to be. Don't think we'll be back again

Yelp
*Cane Rosso Review* It's been a minute since I've gone to Cane Rosso and wow I was not disappointed! The pizza is AMAZING! Since I had it this past weekend I've been craving it ever since. Service : 5 of 5. Our server was very attentive and quick! Food: 10 of 10. The jabroni pizza was awesome! I could order this once a week. I'm excited to try the other flavors next!
google avatar

Deja V.

Yelp
Came here for Mardi Gras Tuesday and requested to be seated outside looking at the foot ball field and people watching . Ordered a couple pizzas one red (cane Rossi) and one white . Both came out looking delicious and also tasted delicious. It was satisfying and fulfilling . The server was great to us.
google avatar

Tristan F.

Yelp
Let's start with the $2 mimosa!!! Service is generally quick depending on the rush, it is located beside in the star so a great spot to get the kids sleepy after they eat. Definitely gives firewood pizza vibes. The pizza are really good! I would try the cheesecake pizza again...hot strawberry cheesecake should be a sin haha
google avatar

Tom R.

Yelp
I needed to amend my review from 5 years ago. We tried the brunch and have always been fans but they just can't get it right anymore. No consistency in the menu which was never a problem years ago. We gave the manager some feedback on the new menu but I guess it wasn't what she wanted to hear and she didn't have much to say. The service was always mediocre but that has also taken a turn for the worst over the last few years as well. The only bright spot is the $2 mimosas but that's not even worth it anymore. Sorry to say this place has lost a few more regular patrons.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Garbage. I can't believe this is considered one of Dallas' best pizzas. It's a wood fired Neapolitan. That means the pizza will be soggy. There is no crisp crust. This was just cold and really soggy. They should have just served me a wet washcloth. The cheese was rubber. The pepperoni was standard food service grade. Nothing unique here. Very disappointing.

Yolanda K.

Yelp
Fun sports spot at the Star. I love thin crust pizza and this place has great ones. We split a Zoli pizza and the Capra salad. Perfect portion size.
google avatar

Juanita S.

Yelp
Our first visit to the Carrollton Cane Rosso location wasn't a good one but Frisco definitely compensated for our first disappointment. We had a great first time visit here and we definitely will be back again. The staff was very friendly. Our bartender even came over to check to see if we were happy with our drink, and offered to make it over. We sat at the counter tops where we could watch the pizza being prepared and it was so much fun. We interacted with the staff and even had some laughs with them.
google avatar

Steve F.

Yelp
Solid pizza range with some interesting toppings that I'd recommend; they've been surprisingly good each trial attempt!
google avatar

Volha K.

Yelp
Great food and stuff. My order was made very fast. We just walked in. We love their pizza))
google avatar

Samantha P.

Yelp
This place serves quick quality pizza! It's deliciously crispy and all the flavors we tried went very well together. I definitely recommend making a reservation since it's a popular spot. We made a reservation for 7 of us after the cowboy Christmas extravaganza and since we had a reservation they seated us promptly. The pizza was great, I would go again
google avatar

Lam B.

Yelp
Cane Rosso is pretty consistent regardless of where you go, but the establishment at The Star fell short for us this time around. We ordered the Spinach Dip, Hot Rob, Honey Bastard, and Pasta (so uninteresting I can't remember the name). The pizzas are thin and soggy so they just flopped over. The Spinach Dip was not impressive, the Hot Rob was not spicy, the Honey Bastard was excessively sweet, and the Pasta was boring.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
I would give this location a 3+ rating. It's right across the street from the Omni Frisco/Dallas Cowboys facility. It has a very cool vibe and their outside patio was very nice. Everyone was pleased with their food. Our server was very nice, yet the restaurant as a whole seemed leaderless. We waited way too long for pizza and pasta. Leaving the property I simply thought, this place has great potential.
google avatar

Shelbi M.

Yelp
We have been to this location a handful of times. Each visit we have enjoyed our pizza. Service is hit or miss sometimes but not terrible just sometimes slower. I feel like everything tastes fresh! Most recent visit we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the weather and view. Awesome weekend drink prices for mimosa was $2 each and I believe my Bloody Mary was $5 or $6? I love the Caesar salad there as it does not come with big chunky hard croutons but shaved/crumbly croutons which is delicious. Big enough to order one and share with one other person with pizza! Also love that you can order 1 pizza half and half of any flavor/style!
google avatar

Clare M.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza as always! Social distancing. Super clean bathrooms. What more can you ask for you
google avatar

Eddie F.

Yelp
Went for mothers day and I wasn't impressed. For being a wood fired oven the pizza was limp with no crisp to it at all. Some of our table food was cold. For the price point and location maybe expectations were too high. Gf and I won't give them another try even if just 2 of us.
google avatar

Leah H.

Yelp
oh my gosh! honestly some of the best pizza i've ever had. each location has incredible pizza, and it's so much fun to watch them put the pizzas in their brick oven. service is always sweet, and the atmosphere at the restaurant is enjoyable.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
This was my first time at Cane Rosso and it won't be my last! I am here visiting family who said this is one of their favorite restaurants, and I can see why! The food was amazing and so was the service. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Nubia D.

Yelp
Our favorite place. Food is always amazing. Drinks are great. Mallori is the BEST bartender, absolutely adore her. Location is great if you if you have friends or family visiting. It's always a fun place to go. The atmosphere of the restaurant is super chill. Can get pretty busy on Friday nights.
google avatar

Anthony F.

Yelp
Great environment and awesome brick oven for the pizza. The service was great and was very helpful when choosing our food.
google avatar

Nancy T.

Yelp
Pizza at Cane Rosso never disappoints. Third time dining and taking orders to go at this location. I order the build your own pizza which is Margherita pizza added prosciutto and mushrooms. With drizzle of habanero honey sauce. Brunch menu Chicken and waffles with candied bacon , gravy and habanero honey sauce. Both very delicious. Let me tell you the Habanero honey sauce is amazing on everything. Must try!
google avatar

Dan T.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza. Was in town visiting some friends and stopped in for a bite. No complaints, just enough char that the crust didn't taste burnt, but added flavor that enhanced the entire pizza. The flavors on the pizzas we had were not overwhelming but very well balanced. I look forward to stopping here next time we are in the Dallas area. The staff was friendly and the food came out surprisingly quick.

Bruce W.

Yelp
We ordered a house salad and a Cane Rosso pizza to go. When I arrived to pick them up, I was told that I couldn't come into the restaurant to pick up my order as they were having a private event. Not seeing why I should stand out in the cold while someone retrieved my order, I went inside anyway. I guess they were afraid I would crash their party. The pizza was very strange--the outer crust was burned and black and the inner crust on the bottom was pure dough. Never ordering from them again.
google avatar

Christy S.

Yelp
I'm split on this one. Kiddo loves the pizza and it's close. The burrata app is delicious. But..... the service is AWFUL. Not to mention the last three times we've been, my food is like warm (mistakenly tried the pasta), over cooked (pizza crust), or missing toppings. Like missing the ham on a ham and jalapeño pie. What?! Kinda over it...
google avatar

Savannah A.

Yelp
Try the Honey Bastard, you won't be let down! This is great spot for a date night or a group get together. We came here after a bridal & groom fitting, and it was the perfect place for good time and even better eats! Is now my go to pizza place. Staff is always so welcoming!

Tiffany J.

Yelp
There was a piece of plastic in our pizza. Thank goodness our kids didn't eat it or they would have choked. There were still " fall menus " up in January. They also ran out of food we had ordered and had to order something else. I think this place was once good but service was is not as great anymore!
google avatar

Tracy B.

Yelp
I've had the honey bastard at the Deep Ellum location several times. It's a family favorite! Online ordering not "turned on" at the Frisco location. Called in an order with Emma, who it may have been her first time answering the phone. She couldn't tell me when our order would be ready. She said, "10, 15, 20 mins. I'm not sure, we're busy." The honey bastard flavor was still great, however the pizza was soggy and the crust was too burnt on the Zoli for my liking. I did pick off the sausage and eat that though. Would I eat here at the Frisco location again? Probably not when there are other great food options in the area.
google avatar

Ujin H.

Yelp
Went here as a double date for dinner, and we had a great time! The ambiance was good, food was great, and service was on point. Solid choice!
google avatar

Thao T.

Yelp
Wow! I had just had pizza the night before with my sister and she insisted that we have pizza again. I wasn't too interested until I took a bite of the delicious goodness. My favorites were the honey bastard pizza, truffle carbonara pasta, and the ladybird dessert pizza. Give them a try and be sure to leave room for dessert (pizza).
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
You know, I really try not to give 1 star reviews to a lot of places but I do not have a choice with this. To get it out of the way, the pizza is good, but it's not worth the terrible customer service. You can get pizza that's just as good and probably better at other places that will treat you with respect. Came here with my family and got seated right away, but 10-15 minutes later, still no waiter, no one greeted us or anything. Four tables came in after us and were greeted immediately and already offered drinks and had their orders taken and still no one. I don't want to believe that it was due to being the poc family but its hard not to feel that way. I asked to speak to management and advised that we had been waiting and that other tables who came in after us had been helped already and her response was "I know but I can go find you a server now" So you knew that we had been there and you didn't even come over to help? Terrible service. There are very few places that I say this about but I will not be returning to Cane Rosso. Very unpleasant experience when someone tells you they know you've been there and obviously were just ignoring you.
