Cafe Prince Cafe in Core City sells raw carrots as snacks | Eater Detroit

"I learned that Canine to Five, a doggie boarding and daycare spot, regularly hosts 'Drinking with Dogs' pop-ups in collaboration with local bars, although those events are typically seasonal." - Serena Maria Daniels

My pup Walter’s absolute favorite place! Hiromi and Mr. Suzuki have helped trained Walter since he was a puppy to play nice with others. They’ve been a tremendous help when we moved overseas to Japan. Now that we’re back, Walter is so happy to play at Canine to Five every week again!

Hiromi and Lisa are absolute gems! I called Canine to Five as a first timer buyer with little knowledge and many questions. Hiromi provided me with so much helpful information and then took the time to refer me directly to the owner, Lisa, to get more details. Lisa graciously spent an hour out of her day to walk me through everything, step by step, to ensure I felt comfortable and confident about starting my kitties on this new diet. If I could give more than five stars, I would 🫶🏼 thank you both again!!

The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about dogs and specific dietary needs. Great shop attached to day care. I pick up a lot of my dog's supplements there and I learn a ton just speaking with her about my dog's medical or behavioral concerns. She's a wealth of knowledge.

Our two dogs have been attending daycare here for several years, they've been groomed several times and we have tried the "self dog wash" (it's much easier than bathing them at home). Good selection of "treats" and food. We highly recommend all the services here

Canine To Five is run by very kind, helpful people. I went there looking for Soul’y Raw products, and I was not disappointed. I’ll definitely be returning in the future!!!

Yelp
I love this store and Hiromi, the owner. My shih tzu loves her, too! We use their line of Mr. Suzuki's Pet Care hypoallergenic shampoo and moisturizers and his coat is always so soft and clean. Super friendly and helpful, every time we go in there.

Yelp
We are so glad we found Canine to Five! Hiromi and her husband do an amazing job of running the daycare, and we always feel comfortable leaving our puppy Roo with them, including for overnight boarding! We knew we found a great place when I mentioned Canine to Five to our private dog trainers and they all knew Hiromi and highly recommended Her! Our puppy had some troubles playing with other dogs at first so we searched hard to find a daycare that is more personal and professional on monitoring and introducing dogs. Hiromi is also a dog trainer and has helped teach our puppy boundaries while at daycare and we've seen a dramatic difference. Hiromi also sells a wide variety of food and treats that our dogs love. We don't hesitate to recommend Canine to Five any chance we get!

Yelp
So grateful for this daycare. Excellent!! It's a fantastic place to help you learn about teaching your dog good behaviors. I am learning probably more than my puppy is. I highly recommend the puppy kindergarten. Thank you!! The owners are simply wonderful. They really love what they do.

Yelp
I've been amazed at how much my dog Qena has changed since we took her here. My puppy used to be very timid and would shy away/bare her teeth at other dogs whenever they came by. We were determined to make sure she changed that behaviour and learned how to play with others. After a few sessions, she began to loosen up, and eventually became a party animal! Hiromi disciplined our dog well (made sure qena got a time-out if she was being mean to other dogs). Another problem arose as it turned out that Qena's metabolism was so fast that regular dog food did not suit her;Hiromi gladly provided us with samples of The Honest Kitchen. She has since then gained weight and maintains her weight well! Unfortunately, we do not come to Canine to Five because we live too far, but it was worth coming every week when our dog was a puppy. I would recommend this place for puppies.

Yelp
I took my dog Marley today to their self dog wash. They have a soft water system and provide organic shampoo, but even though this sounded good, I didn't think the results would be so dramatic. I absolutely couldn't believe the transformation. He came in looking very scruffy and left with the softest coat I had seen since he was a puppy.

Yelp
My dog Taylor had an incident with a dog walker when he was a puppy and became a fearful dog. He simply doesn't take well to meeting new people. Canine to Five took him in even though they could see that he may be difficult. Now that Taylor is 1 year old going on 2 in Feb 2013, he's so happy to be part of the Canine to Five family. He l o v e s going to day care and can't wait to get in the door to see his human and puppy friends. Canine to Five also stocks healthy treats that you can't find in regular chain pet stores and they also offer training and .. swimming lessons! I've signed up Taylor for swimming lessons after he fell in our pool and looked quite panicked to be in the water. His first lesson was awesome and we hope that he'll feel more secure the next him he finds himself in the water. Taylor also has arthritis in his elbows and swimming is a great way for him to get exercise without stressing his joints.

Yelp
My Pug...Tyrone hurt himself jumping up on the couch to...yes bark at a passerby. He overshot the top and fell to the ground putting ribs out of place thus causing pain. Had some chiropractic done, and an x-ray...After several months it was apparent he was losing control of his rear legs, at this point we did a MRI to establish the extent of the injury... the results...spinal cord injury, not repairable. Neurologically the signal from the brain was not getting to the hind legs due to the injury. Finally someone suggested water therapy, a long story short we chose Canine To Five. Tyrone hates water, he'll do what he can to walk around a puddle of water. Canine to Five uses a small swimming pool vs the tank some use with a tread mill. I'm convinced Tyrone needed the personal touch of the therapist in the pool, vs. being plunked into a tank of water and made to walk on the treadmill. After four months Tyrone has gone from 3 days a week , to now twice a month, soon once a month, he has regained strength in the legs, he no longer drags his paws. Before swim therapy he was headed for a wheel chair, now no wheel chair in sight he walks normal and is doing fine...an amazing and successful recovery...Hiromi the owner and therapist is too wonderful for words, because of her Tyrone is back to normal, in spite of a non-operable spinal cord injury.

Yelp
This place is great and I am very happy that Mason, our 9 mo. old pit bull can attend day care here. They are very dedicated to the dogs, by keeping up with their training as well as socializing them. Mason has learned behavior that we could never teach him on our own without this place. Plus, he has great friends at day care now!

Yelp
This is a GREAT daycare! My sister's friend brings her puppy here, and told me about it when my husband and I got our puppy. We needed to take her to daycare for a week when I was away on a business trip. Hiromi is so patient and our puppy loves her! She loves being in daycare and doesn't want to leave when we pick her up. It was a huge plus that Hiromi would feed our dog lunch because we feed our dog a raw diet. Hiromi fully supports raw feeding which many daycare/boarding facilities don't. My husband and I were both impressed that there is training and socialization time as well as nap time built into the day (not just running around doing free play all day). Our pup is used to napping throughout the day and we didn't want her to get overwhelmed and too tired. Hiromi would give my husband an update each night when he picked up our dog about how she did that day and any issues that came up. We bring our dog to daycare every other week to allow her to socialize in a safe environment with other dogs. Now that our puppy is getting older (7 mos), Hiromi let us know that she is going through her teenage phase and is playing rough with the other dogs. They stop any inappropriate play right away and are teaching her that she gets to play when it's appropriate play. I was thrilled to find out that they will also board one dog at a time if the dog attends daycare.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about these wonderful people! I've only utilized their grooming services and they are the only place whose grooming services I will utilize. I have one pure bred husky (male) and one rescue husky mix (female). The first time I brought my male to be groomed he was not yet one. I assumed they would dread working with a young husky and that they would complain of his lack of cooperation, but quite the opposite. The groomer loved that he "sang" to her throughout his grooming and said he behaved very well. On top of that, she did a wonderful job! She trimmed his hair perfectly only where needed and I swear his white legs were glowing. A few months ago we adopted our female. All that we knew of her background was that she was a stray. Her coat was not in the best condition, her face was very oily, and her tail was a mess of knots. She would let me brush her a bit, but would quickly become irritated and let me know it. I brought her in today fearing that she wouldn't cooperate and they wouldn't be able to complete her grooming, but they made it all the way through and even managed to dry her with the blow dryer (and this girl is terrified of vacuums). Time was carefully taken to beautify my girl and I am so thankful! These folks are incredibly friendly and do quality work and I suggest their grooming services to anyone and everyone!

Yelp
Hiromi, the owner is terrific with Tilly (65#, 1 year old lab) with her swimming lessons. Tilly has hip and reactive issues, so this is a safe place to take her. Hiromi is so calming and our dog loves her and her pool! She gives great advice and her recommendations are spot on. I highly recommend taking your pup for a swim with Canine to Five!

Yelp
I started taking my dog Sadie to Canine to Five three years ago. As a veterinarian, I very much appreciate having such amazing people to help care for the dogs in our community. Hiromi and Suzuki have been a major part in helping Sadie to overcome significant fear issues and other behaviors associated with her previous life before she was rescued. They are also a tremendous resource for helping people raise their dogs in the most healthy way (inside and out). I wholeheartedly give them 5 plus stars on every level. To find out more of Sadie's story and the role Hiromi and Suzuki played in her life please visit their website and read my extended review in the testimonial section.

Yelp
Our dogs both go to daycare x2 per week. In addition both dogs have been through obedience training with Hiromi. She is a wonderful teacher, positive, incite full and always diplomatic with the owners. We get updates every visit to day care. Our dogs squeal when they get close to Caninetofive, excited and the way they greet both Hiromi and Suzuki tells us they are treated with love and care. It is their home away from home. They also screen their dog clients so we are assured there will be safety and comfort and healthy relationships between the canine boarders. The work they do is an extension of the dog training classes. We now have two well behaved and very attentive dogs, a Lab and a NS Duck Tolling retriever,. My wife can walk them with ease around the neighborhood. The confidence and assurance of both of our girls is a direct consequence of the time spent at Caninetofive and has added immeasurably to the quality of our time together. Great facility, great care, tons of support.

Yelp
Been taking my puppy here for 3 years, ever since I got him. I like that it's a one-stop shop for everything your dog may need: daycare, on-site or at-home private training, grooming, dog food/treats/items, etc. I've pretty much used most of their services and have nothing but great things to say. My pup loves coming here and cannot wait to get in as soon as I take him out of the car. The owners are always very helpful and knowledgeable and most of all, I can trust them to take good care of my dog.

Yelp
Canine to Five is without a doubt the best doggy daycare we have been to. We brought our Siberian Husky puppy Mikko here with two goals - 1. Get his wild energy out and 2. Help him learn to play with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Right off the bat Canine to Five helped us establish a plan to help acclimate Mikko to the daycare without overwhelming him. Within a week there was a noticeable improvement in Mikko's play with other dogs. After a month of attending daycare twice a week, Mikko was a model pup at every dog park we went to. As a result of his great behavior people would come up and ask us if we had a 'Miniature Husky', when in reality Mikko is a huge puppy. We will be thankful for Canine to Five throughout Mikko's whole life as the lessons he learned there will impact him for the rest of his life. As of now we do not have a need for daycare anymore, but I would recommend Canine to Five to anyone who is looking for a great daycare for their puppy.

Yelp
Our puppy Zoe, a four month old lab-coonhound mix, has become one of Mason's friends since we started using Canine to Five a little over a month ago.. Canine to Five was recommended to us independently by an excellent dog trainer/instructor we work with. The owners, Hiromi and Sukuki, are friendly and knowledgeable. They use a two of their own dogs - adult golden retrievers, who are also competitive agility dogs - as mentor dogs for the puppies. They have a well developed structure to the day, with times provided for play time, training, socialization, food and rest time. There are a small group of dogs, but multiple sizes and breeds. This is a great combination - the mix of sizes and energy levels teaches the puppies to interact appropriately and confidently with many sizes and types of puppies and adult dogs, but the group is small enough that they all get a good amount of individual attention. They will work with you if you have any specific training or behavioral questions as your puppy learns and grows. The consistent socialization and training have really helped Zoe - she is enthusiastic about going there in the morning, and very well behaved at the end of the day. She loves the people there and enjoys her puppy friends, as well as Aloha and Ushio, the mentor dogs. The facility is clean, safe, and affordable, especially for the quality of service and care. We recommend them to anyone looking for an outstanding puppy day care. They also have a store selling higher quality dog foods, toys and supplies.

Yelp
This place is run by a couple that see themselves as the ultimate dog experts. Our experience here started out fairly positive. We had our puppy enrolled in classes, used their daycare services religiously, purchased product from them, all in an effort to support their business and the efforts they made with our dog. Then one day when we picked up our puppy, he was very timid and scared. When asked what happened their explanation was that puppies sometime have this happen. It didn't sit well with me because I noticed that he would now shy away from larger dark colored dogs (when he was absolutely a very playful dog before). After speaking to several other day care facilities, the responses were the same; he was probably attacked or had a bad experience with a larger dog. When asking Canine to Five what happened, they said nothing happened and it was normal for a puppy to change in personality. What concerned me was that Canine to Five sold their day care as keeping larger dogs and smaller dog separate. After pushing harder in an effort to try to figure out what happened, I was told that our dog was no longer welcome, that he was disruptive and not well behaved. I guess all the training we paid for from Canine to Five was a waste. I understand being particular and protecting the other dogs in daycare, but to become defensive and kick our puppy out of daycare instead of answering questions told me they were more concerned about themselves than us and our puppy. Our dog is now at a much better day care, walking services and they love him. Walk and Roll Doggie is a MUCH better operation!!! People stop us on the street or in the park and know him, tell us that their dog goes Walk and Roll Doggie and they play together. People have even offered to take him when we travel because their dog gets along so well with ours.

Yelp
I'm not a huge yelper, but I figured anything I could do to help this business would be my pleasure! My girlfriend and I have bringing my black lab pup Napali here for about 5-6 months. Its safe to say we find new reasons to be impressed every week. Hiromi and her husband Susuki take such pride in their work and care for dogs its a relief to conduct business with a family owned and operated outfit like Canine to Five. We live in Bay Park and are proud of calling these wonderful people our neighbors and friends. We'll be customers for life and happily refer them to anyone we know. Thanks for all the you do Canine to Five
