Cannelle Bakery in Farmington Hills is a delightful French patisserie that has exceptional quality. Their croissants are perfectly flaky, buttery, and authentic — easily some of the best around. Staff are friendly, helpful, and passionate about their craft. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or picking up treats for a special occasion, Cannelle never disappoints. A must-visit spot for pastry lovers and foodies alike.

A hidden gem for dessert lovers! This bakery offers refined desserts and excellent coffee in a cozy, elegant setting. Their wide selection of pastries and sliced cakes isn’t overly sweet, allowing you to truly appreciate the natural flavors of the ingredients. Each cake feels thoughtfully crafted, reflecting the care and dedication of the baker. A perfect spot for a quiet treat or a special coffee break.

Usually, I get their cakes or macarons, and they are always good. I never had their croissant before and it is disgusting. Texture is like a piece of clay/dough and too much butter. Store bought croissant is better than this. Also they dare to charge $7.5 for it. What a waste.

Perfect place for a summer day quick bite. The desserts are all very impressive and the ambience is great. They have outdoor seating as well which makes it even better.

Chantelle

The absolute BEST croissants are here. The atmosphere is beautiful & welcoming. The coffee is a bit pricey: if you want flavor or a milk alternative- so double check before you place the coffee order.

Cute little pastry shop at a corner. The atmosphere is great. The service is nice! Most importantly the food is fantastic.

Overall I can’t recommend this place more. If you are in the Farmington area and like sweet treats this is the place to go. Great for families and dates! It has a nice area where you can sit outside and inside as well. A very well kept clean and quaint store. Atmosphere: 10/10 Regarding the food, I got the chocolate croissant, lemon tart, and pistachio raspberry macaroon. They were all delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Very cutesy, very mindful, very demure. Food: 10/10 The staff was very lovely and gave great recommendations. Regarding the pricing it is a little pricy but you get what you pay for! Service and price: 9.5/10

Everything about this cozy place wants you spend time there. If you are sweet tooth you are not going to step out of there once you step inside. We ordered the pac man, slice of a pastry and a cup of coffee. Woah the taste was mesmerizing.

Yelp
Amazing croissants and pastries! Wonderful to take as gifts as well. So happy you moved into downtown Farmington. Service and food are both great!

Yelp
Great presentation of baked goods but that's it. One row of items was labeled but the other rows were not. None of the employees could accurately describe what any of the items were and only one of the 4 working employees spoke English well enough to even communicate. Based on the description from the sole partially speaking English employee we bought one "double-chocolate/dark chocolate" thing and one "dark chocolate/strawberry cake"' thing. The double chocolate was hazelnut (no mention of and we're allergic) and the strawberry was actually raspberry and there was no cake it was mousse This isn't a language barrier this is a complete lack of knowledge of product. Shame really because despite the ridiculously high price tag the food might be good if the employees knew what they were selling.

Yelp
Truth be told, I dropped in to get a couple items to compare them to the experience I had had the day before where my dad brought me a ham and asiago croissant from the Farmington location. It was sparsely filled, dense, and on the dry side. It wasn't akin to the level of quality I had come to know from the Eton location so I had to come see for myself. Cannelle has definitely upped their game from their original Birmingham location. This space is opulent with clean lines and dark accents adjacent a stark white back drop. It's a patisserie through and through. Walking in I was greeted by a lovely young lady behind the counter. To be honest I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying having been gobsmacked by the all the delights in the case in front of me. It was like looking through a window at a science diorama of rolling hills and and valleys except the hills and valleys were made of croissant and fruit pastries piled high in all shapes and sizes with an assortment of fillings and flavors. Take a couple steps to the right and a second case had shelf upon shelf of pastry; yet further down the way were some beautiful desserts, and a host of premade sandwiches. It was a little overwhelming at first glance. It's a legit cafe with the back of the house bustling with patrons enjoying conversation over their coffee and pastry. I came away with a couple mini macaron (vanilla and tangerine) and an almond croissant. The macaron were as good as what I remember experiencing at Eton and the croissant was a world different than the one I had the day before. I can't speak to their coffee yet but I'll be back to try that, and the ham and cheese croissant again. I will say that since they've expanded so have their prices but between the clientele, their presentation, the space itself, and their food, they'll definitely get a pretty penny for their delights along with an anticipatory smile while you're handing over your money.

Yelp
Actually has pastries and coffee at the new and quite French quaint spot on Grand River in downtown Farmington. We simply loved every bite and took a few home. Every bite was absolutely delish and I highly recommend this patisserie!

Yelp
I've been a fan since the store opened downtown Detroit so I was thrilled to see a location closer to me in the suburbs. We found ourselves with some free time on a cold wintery Sunday morning and decided this would be a great time to check it out. Walking in you can't help but be dazzled by the delicious desserts that await you. But don't forget to try a croissant, they are light and flaky and will win you over in a heartbeat. We always do something savory and something sweet, it's the perfect combo. They also offer lots of different coffee choices. I loved the soft jazz playing in the background. One word of warning is this store is small... Like only 4 tables small. We ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes for a table, and it was a fun place to spend a Sunday morning but I wish they had a bigger space for tables. It does look like they have a patio so during the warmer months there is more seating. Also, just a warning that one of the doors is right where the tables are and if you go on a super cold day be prepared for a blast of cold air every few moments. I would still go back but maybe not on a busy, cold winter day.

Yelp
I was happy to see another bakery in downtown Farmington. I always enjoy a good bakery but this one is a little fancy for my taste. More European than old fashion. I got a few things that had raspberry and they were good but expensive. Maybe I am out of the target demographics, since it's a busy place. The drinks and food are available so you can grab breakfast, brunch or lunch also. Has street parking along with a lot next to it. Small eating area in the back and some outside. I am glad I tried it but want a bakery with sugar cookies and regular cakes and cupcakes.

Yelp
I love seeing all the Cannelle's popping up everywhere! The interior decor is stunning, this one located in Farmington Hills is very quaint and small. It's longer than it is wide, so right when you walk in (from the door closest to the main street) you are immediately at the pastry cases and ordering counter. The flow makes a ton of sense though as you walk down through all the different pastry displays and then checkout at the very end of the counter. The seating area is 4ish tables max I believe? So if you're coming here during the busy time, I would probably say you're going to be taking your pastries to go. If you come on a random Monday afternoon though (which is what I did), it'll be pretty open and you'll be able to snag a seat! Service was lovely! I ordered a croissant (ham & asiago) and one of their more popular items, which was like a giant cream puff (I forgot the name ahh!). Given that it was the afternoon, I don't think my croissant was the freshest it could be and this was my first time at a Cannelle, so I didn't know that there was the option to warm it up for me before I checked out. When my friend came afterwards, she asked them to warm hers up and it definitely made all the difference! My croissant was sadly a bit "stale" and cold - still super delicious - but just always ask for it to be warmed up!! There's plenty of parking in the back behind Cannelle - a wide, open lot there and it's free, it'll just be a bit confusing to navigate to as you'll have to drive past Cannelle and down a bit before looping around to the back!

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place out after hearing about it. After stepping foot into the patisserie, I knew it was the best decision! The glass display of all the delicious, mouthwatering pastries and baked goods about done it! I had the hardest time picking out what I wanted to try first. Everything I had was delicious and on point! Not overly sweet. They are a bit on the pricey side though. The pastry shop/coffee house is located on grand river in the heart of downtown Farmington, so it's not very big and only has about 4 little tables inside. The decor and ambiance is very clean, minimal and chic at the same time. The staff are very nice and so easy to talk to! They helped me pick out a couple items to try.

Yelp
I've been to two other locations and the farmekrs market, so I had to try this one and was just as impressed! Like usual, everything was amazing and I will definitely be returning since it's so close! The coffee, I got a vanilla and caramel latte, was also splendid, but I really want to talk about the customer service! While I was in the store, we experienced a Karen encounter, and I was amazed by how calmly and professionally the employees were able to handle her. She was being very inappropriate and demanding, and they were somehow able to keep composure and politely service her anyways. They even apologized to me for being in the mix! I find this important because these situations can quickly get out of hand, and I applaud them for maintaining a safe, calm environment within the store. It had cute tables to sit at and I recommend it for a Saturday morning treat!

Yelp
How can you even decide what you want? Sweet? Savory? Sandwiches? You'll want it all. And you'll wish they were calorie less because I'm sure they are not. I'm a big fan of cannelle before it became a big brand. It's a consistent stop for me if I want food with coffee. So far the coffee isn't the strongest suite for me. I like their food items much better. For drinks I would rather order from the other local coffee shops like apothecary coffee or Ground control. I feel their drinks are creamier and more caffeinated. Otherwise this is a great study spot but I anticipate it a tougher spot to visit with friends on bad weather days when the limited seating indoor is taken.

Yelp
This French patisserie has a great variety of baked goods and sweets. We walked in about an hour before they closed and was surprised to see that there was still an abundance to choose from. Their Pain au chocolat is HUGE. The pistachio raspberry tart was not overwhelmingly sweet. Price range is high but everything is very beautifully made.

Yelp
Cannelle opened its new location in Farmington today, and the community couldn't be happier. We've enjoyed their pastries and bread at the local Farmington Farmers Market on Saturdays throughout the summer. Now we get to enjoy them on a daily basis all year round. As with the three other locations, Cannelle offers a variety of freshly baked artisan bread, including the traditional baguette and croissant. In addition, there are breakfast treats and fine pastries to delight the senses. This shop is beautifully designed and can accommodate customers who want to grab items and go as well as those who prefer to stay and savor a delicious pastry with an espresso or my favorite, a mocha. There is seating in the back of the shop as well as outdoor seating in good weather. Farmington has anxiously awaited the opening of Cannelle. We've looked through the windows to check on the progress of its construction, and now the shop is finally open! Visit Cannelle and see for yourself why we're so excited to welcome Matt Knio and his staff to our side of town.

Yelp
I love this small bakery. It has the broadest selection of croissant varieties I have ever seen. On top of that, their case is filled with some of the most delicious looking and carefully prepared connections. Some are standard cakes and some were themed (such as one called the Pac-Man). The cafe is well taken care of as well. It is clean and well decorated and the staff is attentive to your order and anything else you may need. Whenever I visit Detroit I'll be coming back here to try one more of their offerings.

Yelp
Happily took our toddler here to celebrate a first day of school! The line situation is a little interesting, and it's kind of a tight squeeze for the line. We tried a tart, and it was pretty good! Prices range between about $5-10 for the pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
Your eyes will not believe the sights. This not Dunkin this is where Dunkin puts on a tux and then goes. It's so posh in there you just wanna show ya coworkers did I mention the pastries? Pick one any one and for sure you will love it... Go soon.

Yelp
Still awesome and I met Matt in person too! I was there for the chestnut whiskey pastry which was sold out but during my brief conversation, he is very passionate for high quality. I also noticed one of his chocolate bars...it was tempered by the book! I assembled my own Christmas mini dessert.

Yelp
Amazing new addition to downtown Farmington. I always stopped here when it was at the farmers market. They have a wide selection of croissants, as well as beautiful pastries. There is much more sitting space than the Birmingham location. I did not try out any of the sandwiches, but they looked great. They have a full coffee selection, and very nice tables to sit on outside. They were playing French music and it was so relaxing coming here. So far I love Canelle!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible desserts. Cannelle caught my eye as we were walking downtown so naturally we turned around to look in. The desserts are stunning and taste as amazing as they look (the best of both worlds)??? Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've been to the Birmingham location and was so excited for this place to open in Farmington! Farmington is definitely becoming a foodie haven and this place does not disappoint at all. I love the assortment of fresh pastries and croissants and warm sandwiches, breads and teas and coffee here. The Farmington location does have a small interior (similar to the Birmingham location) but both locations have a decent amount of outdoor seating Parisian style. I love the variety of croissants and eclairs / pastries here. The coffee is definitely strong and everything feels and tastes fresh. This is a wonderful place to come pick up some treats or catch up with a friend.

Yelp
Welcome to the neighborhood! Long time awaited Farmington downtown location brings people much joy. From their stand at Farmers Market on Saturday's during summer time to a beautiful new place. The lines are long on Saturday morning but moving fast service is very friendly and attentive. Lots of sitting options outside and some tables are inside as well. Onto the food. From croissants to delicate state of the art pastries and baguette sandwiches with prosciutto and mozzarella the choice is plenty! They also have freshly pressed juices and great coffee selection. Looking forward to trying more deliciousness!

Yelp
Lots of parking, beautiful interior, friendly staff! So happy this place opened up in downtown Farmington. We've all been waiting! This will definitely be a staple point in the community. It's super cute inside and there is tons of seating outside as well. Great pastries, coffee, and more! It just opened but it will get crowded quick. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
It's a good thing we don't live closer, because we would be here every day. The presentation is stunning, everything is absolutely delicious, and the staff is wonderful! We love their sweet and savory both! I would give it 10 stars if I could. Also, try the pistachio latte! It's the best I've ever had!

Yelp
Beautiful space with a gorgeous display of pastries and sandwiches. The staff is always friendly and they have lovely outdoor seating.

Yelp
A chic coffee shop with fabulous bakeries, coffee, and food. Black and while decoration with brass tone lighting. Two of us enjoyed the Almond Croissant, and Fruit Tart with Cappuccino and Latte. The sitting is limited with 4 tables for guest. With right time and good luck to be able to sit, otherwise take to go.
google avatar

Nymisha A.

Yelp
We bought Raspberry tart, chocolate Plateau, macaroons & focaccia. Personally I don't like raspberry so the raspberry tart isn't for me but my husband loved it & macaroons are my favourite. This location seems very busy. Service is good.
google avatar

Joanne K.

Yelp
The best croissant! Must've weighed at least a pound, it was so filled with almond paste. Heavy duty, but delicious. Staff was very nice. Was so busy Saturday morning. I would go during the week next time.
google avatar

Brittany W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were drawn in to the pristine window of goodies walking by. Gorgeous place and food! The goat cheese, olive, and oregano croissant was awesome. We also got a pistachio raspberry tart and a raspberry lemon layer cake, both were delicious. We took them down the road for trivia and it was such a nice treat to have. The workers were fantastic as well.

Joan L.

Yelp
Beautiful cakes and pastries. Cakes are moist and flavorful, lots of assortment of croissants which taste pretty good. Service person was pleasant, the cafe is cozy and beautiful.

Yelp
Absolute best chocolate croissants around. Layers and layers of delicate decadence. Highly recommend. Presentation is creative art but has the taste to back it up.

Yelp
I was so excited that Cannelle opened in Farmington Hills. I've traveled to Birmingham and/or Downtown Detroit to partake in the yumminess for years. This.Is.Not.It. I've gone twice since opening and have been sorely disappointed each time. For one, the staff lacks courtesy. The first time, I thought they were just new and perhaps uncomfortable. This last time I determined that they are just rude. On top of that , the pastries are not the same. I ordered as I always do, crossaints for breakfast. They were dry. I don't know if they are keeping them longer or what but I'll just go back to the other locations moving forward
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Soooo great! The pastries are light and fluffy and delicious. The place is nicely decorated but very small with about 3 tables so this is probably a better carry out place. The service is friendly and patient.
google avatar

Taliy S.

Yelp
What a nice little cozy place to get some extra delicious coffee or chai latte. Staff is friendly and welcoming! Service was excellent and fast. We got our sandwiches warmed up and all the scrambled eggs cooked in matter of minutes. Coffee and lattes were extra hot as we asked. Cannelle for dessert were just perfect. Ambience is great will be coming back for more!
google avatar

Sneha A.

Yelp
Love love this amazing place! Great pastries and lovely customer service. Ambience is good.

Yelp
Delicious sourdough bread (we didn't go to the location) but there breads are excellent. Pricey but no preservatives so make sure to freeze if you don't plan to eat it all within 2-3 days.

Mary L.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Had a family trip and all our breakfast pastries were from this location. Always fresh. Great variety. Great cakes too. So glad that this is in our neighborhood. Only downfall, a little elevated in price but worth a visit. Wish they expanded to next door bakery.

Yelp
My wife and I were out driving around , enjoying the beautiful fall colors when she said she wanted something tasty but wasn't sure what. Heading down Grand River Avenue she was sure Cannelle would be the place to satisfy the craving. Heading inside for my First time into this new Downtown Farmington location is a visual feast of beautifully crafted pastries. I hung in the background and observed while my wife started putting together our order. I could tell that my wife was struggling to communicate with Ariadna, the female behind the counter who's English seemed challenged, to the point we ended up paying for an item that we didn't want and did not order. However, I must say it was a Delicious mistake. Definitely a special place! We wish them much success!!

Don D.

Yelp
Finally went to the lil bakery gem in downtown Farmington. Walking in the door and you are greeted by the most lovely assortment of baked goods. But we were there for breakfast. So we ordered croissant sandwiches, Gruyére and egg and an egg, cheese, and bacon. Plus one coffee. $23 plus dollars, not including the tip. There was nothing wrong with the food - quite good actually. So was the coffee. The croissant was lovely. Flaky/crispy. Staff were very pleasant. Ambiance was cute with the 4 tables. That said, there is no way that I found 23 bucks worth of value in this breakfast. I'm no, 'all you can eat guy,' but this was not much breakfast for the first meal of the day. Maybe I don't understand how much it costs to make a croissant. By way of comparison, I can go to perhaps the best bagel joint in the area, and have a dynamite egg, cheese, and bagel sandwich for half the price....and it's considerably more hearty. Regardless. I might go back for the occasional croissant, but I'll stuff an egg in it at home. Or, I'll buy on of those wonderful looking pastries. Food = 4* Price = 2*
google avatar

Jen P.

Yelp
The shop is small but sweet. We went on a Saturday and the wait was long, but the bread is heavenly. Prices are probably what you expect them to be. We found the display signs hard to read, but the desserts were so pretty to look at. The music playing feels like a lovely authentic French touch. Check the hours before you go!

Erica V.

Yelp
My husband and I ventured into Cannelle in Detroit when we had about 30 mins to spare. It was a pleasant surprise. The ambience was so nice and everything we ordered was delicious! We were excited to find that there was a closer location to our home as well. We will be trying it out soon! I definitely recommend it!

Skylar E.

Yelp
Bought the macarons to bring to my fathers house, smelled amazing inside, staff was helpful and answered my questions! They only opened up in September but I wish I knew sooner! Will be visiting again
google avatar

Torrie C.

Yelp
I just wanted to come on here and say this place's aesthetic is so beautiful and the sweets look amazing. I also want to add that the customer service is great! All the girls are super sweet! However, even though the sweets look great, I believe they're overhyped. I got a pistachio chocolate croissant and the chocolate tasted off, the apple dessert didn't have much apple filling and it was basically a fancy bread, and 15 macaroons. I could tell the macaroons weren't fresh at all. I got the chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio flavors and the after taste killed my tastebuds. More descriptively I would say the after taste tasted freezer burnt. I also got a drink which was a pistachio coffee and that also tasted horrible. It wasn't like a creamy pistachio coffee that you would get at Qamaria for example, it was very nutty and very bitter. On top of all of this were the prices, I don't believe a $60 bill was worth anything of this. The macaroons were almost $3 a piece, the pastries ranged from $7-$9, and my coffee was almost $20. I can't believe I spent that much of coffee if anything and wasn't even warned. If I went to a different cafe my coffee order is typically around $6! So overall, they won't be getting my business again and if anything you're better off going to a Mediterranean cafe where they actually serve you what you pay for.
google avatar

T K.

Yelp
Beautiful interior, delicious food and great coffee. You'll have to wait in line if you're visiting at peak hours but well worth the wait. Try their breakfast sandwiches that come on a focaccia, so good. Finally you can get fresh baguette first thing in the morning in Farmington.
google avatar

Brandi R.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The young person that helped me was friendly and attentive. The food is excellent as is the ambience. I LOVE the pastries. They are as beautiful as they are delicious. Not a lot of seating at this location inside the cafe.
google avatar

Bob H.

Yelp
I bought a strawberry tart for my wife's birthday. It was amazing! Not too sweet. Very tasty. It has the most incredible crust. I highly recommend trying their wide selection of delicious food.

Yelp
It's a great place to hang out haves light brunch and the croissants are great so many choices. Great location. Thanks Matt

Leimomi R.

Yelp
The service was great. Akkari helped me with choosing the different desserts and banquette. I will return again. Thank you

Jake L.

Yelp
Amazing pastries and baguette! They have a very large assortment of baked goods, sweets, and even sandwiches. It's not immediately apparent but they also have breakfast sandwiches that are quite good! If you want a pick at their full menu I'd recommend getting there early as items will sell out.

Christma J.

Yelp
The chocolate pistachio croissant is heavenly! Only a few tables inside, definitely going to wait for warmer weather for the outdoor seating.

Anne S.

Yelp
Indoor seating area is limited but pastries were delicious. Very aesthetically pleasing desserts and baked items. A bit pricy. Will be back to try more.
