16 Best Places for Live Music in Nashville | Condé Nast Traveler

"The three stages of Cannery Hall (formerly The High Watt, Mercy Lounge and Cannery Ballroom) have been closed for complete gut rehab and are scheduled to reopen in early 2024. These retrofitted brick buildings are beloved by Nashvillians as the places to see non-country acts in Music City. Lizzo played here months before she played the Ryman, for instance. Each venue (now called Row One, The Mil and Mainstage) is standing-room only, and the renovations provide improved sightlines, not to mention better access to the bars and the bathrooms. What’s unlikely to change is access to rowdy, loud, rock, pop, and alternative acts at the city’s largest independent venue." - Kristin Luna,Margaret Littman

The Mil upstairs is a fantastic venue! It feels like a much more intimate space than most venues. Even half way across the venue you feel in touch with the artists on stage. It's well air conditioned so sweating to death while enjoying your show isn't an issue. The rest rooms are clean. The staff is helpful, but not in your face. Just a great place to see a show.

This was my first time attending an event at Cannery Hall, and overall, it was an amazing experience! The venue itself is fantastic—great acoustics, well-organized, and a solid selection of bar items. I also appreciated that they offered free water in a glass as an alternative to purchasing bottled water, which was a nice touch. That being said, the entry process was confusing. We arrived early and initially lined up at the front door, but a staff member (who seemed inexperienced) directed us off the property to wait on the other side of the parking lot fence by the main road. It was poorly explained, and honestly, having attendees stand near a busy street felt unsafe and unnecessary. However, a helpful tip for future visitors—if you wait outside the fence, you actually get to enter before those waiting in their cars. Some clear signage and better-trained staff would go a long way in improving the check-in process. Aside from that hiccup, the rest of the night was phenomenal. The EP Release Party event was a blast, the staff (minus the one misinformed individual) were excellent, and the atmosphere was top-notch. I’d absolutely return for another show—just with a better understanding of the entrance situation!

The small venue upstairs is super nice! Very intimate. Came here for Now That's What I Call a Rave and had a great time. The sound system could be much much louder. Reasonable prices on drinks at the bar makes the night all that much better!

Since the renovation I just don’t think it’s a great venue. You can’t see the stage from the back. It’s long and narrow. It’s so hot in there as well. I also think maybe they sold too many tickets. So many people left hanging in the bar or merch area. Such a bummer. Maybe with a more elevated stage it could be better. I’d have to really love an artist to come back to this venue. The photo is literally from my eye level at the back. Staff was friendly though. Pay to park right at the venue for $25.

We went for a show on the Row 1 stage. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Rowen, Deaf Andrews and The Upsides were a great listen. Our first show in Nashville did not disappoint!

Free CMA concert but $23 parking in a spot that is ordinarily free for Cannery visitors? Read: price gouging. So I walked 3 blocks. Last show here. The parking rate has simply gotten so absurdly outrageous that I don’t even desire to come here anymore. Thank you, next.

Yelp
As a Nashville Native I am so happy this event venue is opened again after renovations. I used to come here during college and just mingle and find new music. The venue has limited paid parking but near downtown so you are able to park somewhere and walk. The renovations are more noticeable in the entrance, bathrooms, floors and bar countertops. They have a great selection of beers and seltzer but you can also buy a mixed drink. Purchasing tickets are usually easier online but they have a box office where you can get the physical copy or purchase on the day of. This is a great location to hear local music or even host events! 10/10 so happy this is re-opened!

Yelp
Great music venue! Kitchen closed today so don't know about food. Owner/ Car Security nasty about ADA Parking. The Cannery owner would not even allow me to park in the Disabled Space in front of the totally closed Salsa Restaurant across the street. Was told by security mgr over phone that I could stay there if I paid $20 to their parking lot across the street. Nice inside, totally redone. The other inside Security Guards were friendly and helpful. NOT ADA PARKING FRIENDLY!

Yelp
Guy at the parking lot and the bartender were polite and nice. venue only had one person checking tickets so it took for Weber to get into the venue. Also security demanded everyone walk a block behind a fence after coming up to the doors. Finally when I left early security demanded I surrender my water I bought on premises. Seriously, why?
