After exploring Lido Marina Village, I came here for dinner and truly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. It’s definitely a place worth visiting at least once. However, the service was not particularly friendly. The space is quite large, and it seemed that there were not enough servers. Although the restaurant was not crowded, it was difficult to make eye contact with the staff, and they rarely approached on their own to offer assistance.

Everything was soooo good!! I'm not sure how they knew but it was our 1yr marriage anniversary and they gave me a little bouquet of flowers! Super cute! We sat outside right next to the water with a great view of boats and the sunset. The food literally melts in your mouth! The mashed potatoes im not sure what they do to it but it was the best I've ever had! Lobster tail just sent me to heaven! 10/10 will return

Best happy hour from 330 to 6 pm. Love their sushi and great service. Also random fact, best French fries. Friday to Sunday is crazy but during the week easy to get a table for happy hour. It’s first come first serve in the upstairs bar.

Great food and ambiance! The staff was kind and had great customer service. My kids loved the food and we will definitely come back!

Ok people, this place is so awesome for happy hour. It's a local favorite and has been fire years. I grew up here in Newport Beach and this place is a staple and a must go fun place. The staff is absolutely so fun and engaging. They actually have as much fun as you have there. The happy hour is 40% off for and their food is bomb diggity! Their sushi is just as good as Nobu but for way less. Their drinks are all have crafted and delicious although they do have Expresso martinis in a machine for when they get busy but by then you won't taste the difference, ha ha ha! Cole is my absolute favorite waiter there. He's so much fun, makes you feel like your best friend and is perfectly on point with second and recommendations plus he somehow knows what you might want and suggests it. He's an experience which you do not want to miss. Truly so much fun ams you will be a repeat offender! Enjoy and your 🤗😁

Google
Father's Day dinner! The hostess was very accommodating and showed us two table options - a table on the patio or a booth inside. Both nice but we took the booth. We really enjoyed the Seafood Platter appetizer, which had shrimp, oysters, crab claws, and lobster. Tried the Clam Chowder but I wouldn't get it again, needed more clams and potatoes. Unfortunately, dad's Halibut was overcooked and dry but the Sea Bass and Branzino were good. Creme Brulee and Affogato were delicious! Great atmosphere, like being in your rich uncle's house on the water! Service was good.

We are just visiting here for two days. I booked lunch here the first day. The food is excellent and the sitting is excellent- but the best part was our server, Anna. Because of Anna, we decided to book lunch here the second day, and I’m so glad we did because not only did we see the Amazing Anna again, we had Cole as a server. I had the fish on special both days. My husband had a burger and the swordfish sandwich. Much better quality food than we get in AZ. I highly recommend due to service and food.

Yelp
Valentina, Craig, Aubrey & Jesus are the best! I had my bonjour 34 birthday brunch here bc $60 bottomless Veuve for 2 hours, duh! It was perfect! Everyone was so helpful and kind! Our table had the best time! We were seated outside, and we had the most beautiful view of the harbor. Even in November, it was clear and flawless! The food was so yummy -- we all enjoyed a very delicious brunch! Sidenote, when we got there, we were seated next to the loveliest table and one of the couples shared with us that they got married at The Cannery in 1978! So iconic!

Yelp
My wife and I visited The Cannery for our 15-year anniversary on November 29, 2025. This restaurant holds a lot of sentimental meaning for us: it's where we had our first date, where I proposed one year later, and now, 15 years after that, we returned to celebrate again. Oddly enough, on all three occasions we happened to sit in three sequential booths near the front, overlooking the waterfront. My wife commented that her dirty martinis were some of the best she could remember and really enjoyed them--they were quite strong, as was my Captain Morgan and Coke. We started with the bread service, which comes with both regular butter and a sweetened butter. Both were delicious, and I preferred the sourdough rolls over the squaw rolls. Next, we shared the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large and fresh, served with cocktail sauce and what seemed to be a tartar-style sauce. (It was also pretty comical that the shrimp arrangement resembled a smiley face.) If I were to give a suggestion, it's that I would have liked a bit more cocktail sauce. We then had the Shellfish Trio, which includes lobster, shrimp, and scallops served with risotto. This was a delicious dish--plenty of food for my wife and I to split as a meal. The staff kindly brought us a chocolate molten cake as an anniversary gift to top it all off... It was rich, warm, and delicious. We really enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent, the views were wonderful, and this restaurant carries a lot of history for my wife and me. The staff were also very kind and gave my wife a little bouquet of flowers for our anniversary. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This location sits right in the waterfront in Lido Island. It was a soft, pleasant and warm feel sitting in the outdoor covered patio because of the beautiful decor and heaters. The service was fast, great food, and very welcoming. Keep in mind this is a premium restaurant so the process reflect that. But, if you want great food and great service, this is the place. It's romantic so it'll make for a great date night spot.

Yelp
This restaurant is always packed for lunch. Our friend took us on his boat where he docked it next to the restaurant. I was here before, but I didn't drop a review. I thought the food was good here, but it wasn't something that was extraordinary. The service was excellent, and the seafood was fresh. It was definitely on the expensive side. But if you have a boat parking space, expect to pay a little more money, right? The ambience was definitely great! I would come back here .

Yelp
I don't understand some of the negative reviews, my first time experience was quite nice. My server Justin gave us the right amount of attention , he assisted us with menu choices and was very accommodating. There's quite a bit of History in some of the decor, to include the historical connection to baseball. I was in a party of two and we ordered the black cod and the Lobster Pot pie. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! The Lobster Pot Pie was decadent , rich, and the flaky crust was perfectly flaky. It came with a side salad , probably to balance the richness of the Lido structure. I did decrease one star because i honestly cannot justify the pricing of the menu. At this price point i would consider this establishment if it is a special occasion such as an anniversary or promotion . That being said, it was quite a nice experience.

Yelp
This restaurant is right along the water and has really cute vibes inside. They have multiple bars and can pass for both upscale or casual dining depending what you're feeling. Unfortunately, the food was quite overwhelming and overpriced. I didn't feel like the fish tasted fresh, and the fish in the tacos were dry. The tacos also didn't have much flavor to them. Our server also only came by a few times sparsely throughout the dinner so it took a while to get anything done. Probably won't be coming back here for the food, but vibes are nice!

Yelp
Have been many times for happy hour. The sushi rolls are amazing! I recommend try a new sushi roll every time. Bluefin carpaccio was delicious! Service is superb! Beautiful people!

Yelp
We sat upstairs. Food and drinks were both delicious. It is first come first serve so you can get a drink at the bar while you scope out a table

Yelp
This is a must-visit when in Newport! I had the opportunity to visit this place today around 6:15 p.m. and caught a beautiful sunset while enjoying the soothing outdoor seating on the dock overlooking a small bay filled with boat traffic. I ordered the oysters and the lobster roll--both were absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was easy to enjoy, perfectly complemented by toasted bread and crispy fries. The oysters were fresh and flavorful, making them effortless to savor. The staff were extremely polite and professional, even offering off-menu items and catering to guests with great attention. I will be returning to try other items!

Yelp
We came in for Sunday happy hour and the place was bustling! We were lucky to snag a table right away but it quickly filled up. While it did take a bit of time for our server to initially come greet us, after that, he was regularly checking in, taking our order aNd our food came out more timely. As in got busier, it of course got increasingly more loud. It was pretty noisy and difficult to have a conversation without yelling. Lots of energy in the room but Defitnely not a relaxing environment. Our table of four enjoyed sharing 4 sushi rolls, 2 orders of sliders, kung pao chicken and edamame. It was a perfect amount of food. The sushi was great and the crunchy roll was Defitnely my favorite. And the sliders were very good, not over cooked or too bun forward like many tend to be. Very well balanced and with the ideal burger toppings. I also enjoyed the paper plane cocktail and enjoyed the flavor. Overall enjoyed the experience but will look to return outside of peak season!

Yelp
This was my first time here and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised! My coworkers and I went during the happy hour where items were 40% off and we ordered a bunch of rolls. My favorite was the cannery roll. The french fries were delicious as well and a must order! The garlic aïoli sauce was so yummy. I'd probably pass on the sashimi if you were ordering here, it wasn't anything special. The service here was amazing and the view was so pretty. There's limited parking other than the valet that's pictured so keep that in mind! Would go here again for sure :)
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
I was definitely impressed with the ambiance and customer service. We went for lunch and everything was delicious. We ordered appetizers and lunch menu. The lobster roll was delicious and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Cannery is the best place in Newport for happy hour and Scotty is the best bartender in Newport.

Yelp
I truly do not understand the hype about this place. First, the happy hour only has food on it, not drinks and it's not too great of a deal. we ordered a few things including their most popular roll, all of it extremely mediocre. I would definitely not recommend sushi here. The drinks were also a disappointment. I ordered a spicy marg and it may be the worst one I've ever had. I would not come back here. I'd much rather go to a happy hour with good deals or with drinks and I definitely wouldn't just eat here.
google avatar

Jon R.

Yelp
My best friend and I dined here last night and let me tell you, this place is incredible! The ambience is fantastic! The service is fantastic. Julia was fantastic! The happy hour is fantastic! Even the manager was so sweet! I'll be dining here more often.

Paula R.

Yelp
The place is lively on weekends and always a good time, full review below: Location: clean, lively, the decoration is spot on. Drinks; stick to the drink menu and you will have a good drink. Food: the fish is the standout, however, all the sides are lackluster. The fish portions can be on the smaller side but the flavor is fantastic. Unfortunately, everything else falls short, the rice is very bland and tastes like it has been sitting out, the mac n cheese has no flavor (you can tell it is roux heavy without any real cheese), so don't order those. Desserts are good but the sundae is not worth it. Service: it is good but slow, so don't expect to see your waitress/waiter much. Overall: a little overpriced but the fish is tasty.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant right on the water. Pricey but quality matches price point. The swordfish tacos and calamari were phenomenal as was the service from Annie. Will definitely try the sushi bar upstairs next time! Must be good because the wait to get up there was out the door!
google avatar

Mason S.

Yelp
Stopped by The Cannery and left seriously impressed. Got the lobster roll and it did not disappoint -- buttery, loaded, and just the right amount of richness without being too heavy. The fries were crispy golden perfection, and even the Caesar salad was a hit -- fresh, crunchy, and well-dressed (not too soggy, not too dry... just right). But the real sleeper hit? The espresso martinis. Smooth, slightly sweet, and just enough kick to make you feel fancy without overdoing it. Vibes were on point -- right on the water with that cool Newport breeze and just the right amount of buzz from other tables. Great spot for a chill lunch or a casual evening out. Will 100% be back.

Yelp
As a long-time Newport Beach resident, this is one of the restaurants everybody needs to try. The food here is very good, and the view of the dead-end bay is nice. There is a limited area for people that come via boat also. The two bar areas are nice, and the people are normally fun to talk to. Their Sunday brunch is a fun place to enjoy with friends.

Yelp
My friend & I came in for a Saturday brunch. We split a bunch of appetizers & had bottomless mimosas. Valentina was our server and she was wonderful! Our glasses were never empty and although she was helping another large party we were never neglected. We ordered oysters & they were so good we got a 2nd order. Fried calamari was good. Ahi poke was good. The crab cake was delicious!! Only wish it wasn't just one. A beautiful morning overlooking the water made for a lovely time! Will def be back.

Yelp
Had a great time with my girlfriend here. The views from the second floor are amazing. Great food and cocktails. Fun vibe. Our server Cole absolutely made our night we felt like family with him I'll be requesting him every time we come if possible. Valet was easy and affordable. And we loved the poppers and SS pork ribs. Get the Castaway cocktail it was the best!!

Yelp
Loved the Cannery! Great food and service. We were there a couple weekends ago and Cole was our server. He was awesome! Super accommodating and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
This is a great spot if you are out on the water and you want some delicious seafood. Nice cocktail, great glass of wine . If you go on the weekend, just remember the service is a little bit slow . And you really must make a reservation . Plenty of parking in several different lots around the area. And if you do go have their oysters, they really are quite tasty.
google avatar

Brittany D.

Yelp
The service here is very attentive, the decor on the inside is very nice and we were seated at a table on the patio overlooking the water! Amazing environment
google avatar

Cindy T.

Yelp
Headed out for brunch, to the Cannery.. as I got there they sold me on the bottomless mimosas but I have to say they don't really refill you ... had to keep asking for it . Carrie was our waitress .. I have to say she could care less. The busboy Daniel was more attentive than she was. We actually didn't see her for quite a while. Im actually very disappointed because this is a nice well establishment and not cheap!!! . I have to say so. I'm a little disappointed.

Yelp
3-6pm Happy Hour! Everyday!!!! So if you dont have reservation go upstairs since its first come first serve with great sushi menu! They have valet parking or you can park on the street which can be challenging during weekends. We got slider, j popper, albacore sashimi and 911 roll. With perfect ending of creme brûlée All perfect size and price! We really enjoyed our food but if you starving happy hours during weekends is not a wise decision! Perfect view and fresh fish will make your day!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
I came here for a friends birthday brunch and we had a blast! They offer bottomless mimosas for $25 when you order an entree. The staff is super helpful and friendly and you can't beat the water front views and the outdoor patio has plenty of warmers for chilly nights. For food, I ordered the machaca burrito in a bowl. It was good but it lacked a lot of flavor. We shared the banana foster French toast and it was amazing but it was too sweet as a standalone dish.

Yelp
I will start off by saying that I have been coming to The Cannery since I was very young and it has been a consistent restaurant we venture to when we're in Newport for the summer. The vibe downstairs is classy without being too fancy and you can go upstairs when you wanna get rowdy and have some good happy hour. This visit we were here for my nieces 1st birthday which she was so happy. She's usually a picky eater, but she was enjoying each dish we ordered. We started off with the tuna tartare, crab cake, oysters, and clam chowder. The tuna tartare was fresh and had the perfect amount of kick with the perfect amount of kick to it. The crab cake was so good, usually I'm not a big crab cake eater because all of the filler, but this one was just crab cake. The sauce on it was an avocado crème fraiche which was so tasty and paired well with the dish. Clam Chowder is a staple at most restaurants, but this one was so tasty. I can say I'm one that orders clam chowder at most restaurants I visit. A lot of places aren't necessarily fresh and this one didn't have the fishy taste that I've had often. It wasn't too thick nor runny. The oysters, well they're oysters haha. They seemed very fresh and tasted good. I wish they provided a mignotte rather than just horseradish and cocktail sauce. For lunch I had the a wedge salad and the lobster corn bisque. I'll start off with the wedge salad, I am not usually one that likes blue cheese dressing as I prefer a ranch dressing on my wedge. The blue cheese dressing they had must of been homemade because it was really tasty. The lettuce was very cold which I wouldn't usually prefer, but it was a little warm today. It was over all a great salad. Next, I had the lobster corn bisque which was different, but pretty good. The consistency of the soup was pretty thick and I liked it, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Lastly, we had key lime pie and chocolate cake for dessert. They were very generous to bring baby Ryley a chocolate cake complimentary for dessert. She was mind boggled by the candle which she actually blew out. The key lime pie was chilled and it was honestly the best key lime pie I've ever had. I can't remember the servers name, but she was amazing. She had a great personality and was making us all laugh. Love when someone has a sense of humor. She was very accommodating with my sister's soy allergy letting us know what items contained soy. I'll continue to come to this place until the day that I die. Love The Cannery!!!

Yelp
We came for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible. Also the staff was very friendly and made everything enjoyable. I definitely recommend this place and will be back soon.

Yelp
What a great spot! Great seafood and honestly not that pricey- especially for the apps and starters. We got: Caesar salad: delicious, fresh, shredded cheese, well dressed and the croutons were so good! Calamari: also so good, especially the dipping sauces . Clam chowder : $10 and your moneys worth it's so creamy and delicious! The red snapper plate was pretty good especially the mashed potatoes! Overall good but not AMAZING! But a good go to spot especially for apps and starters !

Ashley M.

Yelp
Was in town visiting a friend and she has been here a million times with nothing but good things to say and this place definitely lived up to the hype! Highly recommend coming during happy hour, however, it fills up quick so you may need to linger by the bar to snag a seat. We ordered a couple of rolls of sushi (a HH must!) as well as some onion rings to split which were all so fresh and delicious. It definitely turns into a fun vibe the later you stay here, so if you aren't a fan of that then I'd recommend coming earlier. We had an amazing waiter by the bar who was so on top of it and clearly appreciated all the regular customers they get! Can't wait to come back.

Nancie M.

Yelp
Great memories here as I grew up down the street and to think this place still exists is even better. Happy hour is at 3:30 until 6. Food only but drinks are reasonable and such a nostalgic place. Fun memories

Kevin L.

Yelp
Took my wife here for dinner and I do not regret it at all, what an amazing experience. The food we got was phenomenal and the service was top notch. We got a lovely table outside with a view of the harbor. The lobster roll was fresh and citrusy and they put a lot of it, I'm glad they weren't stingy. Also the swordfish dish I got was fresh and a little smokey with the perfect amount of seasoning on it. I will definitely come back here again in the future!

Yelp
We chose to go to the cannery for a special occasion because we were happy with our last experience here. However, this time was very different, the restaurant was terrible at accommodating our large group and I personally found our original server to be very rude and disrespectful, she only asked certain people if they wanted drinks but never asked any of the younger people at the table. She also never asked us if we wanted to order, in fact we had to flag her down for any type of service. totally unacceptable and inappropriate for this caliber of a restaurant. Though, I don't blame the server because it seems as though she was given to many tables by management and was very stressed over the situation, hopefully the manager on staff learns how to take care of their serving staff so that we don't have to wait over an hour just to order food. The reason I gave the restaurant a 2 star is because the food was very good, just like the last time we were here. I got the lobster roll and it did not disappoint, overall the food was really good and if not for the terrible service we would have been likely to come back. The restaurant was also very loud, something a little too common in nice restaurants today. Overall, I hope the canary is able to either hire more employees so the ones they have can actually focus on their job, or find better managers and servers that actually do their jobs in an appropriate and professional manner, the second server they gave us after we spoke with the manager on staff was much better [Also note the bread service for $7 is one bowl of bread not "bread service"]

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love this place and come here all the time for happy hour and industry nights on mondays! We were here last Monday. Ryan is the best server and has been taking care of us forever! We love seeing Ryan's friendly face and always has great food and drinks recommendations. Thanks Ryan!

Yelp
If I could give a billion stars out of 10 I would! The Cannery was amazing! We loved our Duffy!! The whole experience was amazing, every single staff member was so kind and genuine. Big thanks to Jason for making my mom's birthday so extra special and memorable! The bubbly and appetizers were amazing and so beautiful and so kind! She said it was an amazing birthday with her kids and family, she was so thrilled. A million times thank you, we can't wait to rent again for our next celebration, we had so much fun. THIS WILL BE OUR ONLY DUFFY RENTAL PLACE NOW!

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was awesome. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and the team made every effort to give us the table we liked. Special shout out to Jonathan and Ryan for outstanding customer care, politeness and kindness. We will definitely be back. We recommend the Scallops, the Chilean Sea Bass and the Mr T sushi roll.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant with a group of work colleagues. A few of us had the surf and turf and a variety of appetizers. Mine was delicious! The service was great, and the view of the harbor was impeccable.

Yelp
Curtis at the bar is a great server! Attentive but not over the top in a hovering way. The Food was delicious as always and looking forward to returning soon!

Yelp
The best pan seared swordfish in town! Service with Kerri is always friendly and fast. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service! Went for my birthday and they even bring you a delicious dessert with candles. 10/10!

Yelp
New England clam chowder fish and chips. Fabulous service was great. Everybody was so helpful and of course the view is terrific. Watching all the boats busy on the weekend. I usually go there during the week but it still was fun. I thought the prices were reasonable, especially for the quality you received

Yelp
Our Server was super, hard working. The location is still charming. However, the food left much to be desired. Shrimp Cocktail shrimp were soggy. Fish and Chips fish were mushy. Halibut was supposed to be pan seared- but looked and ate like cafeteria fish- barely any of the puree was supposed to accompany- It all felt like it had been under a heat lamp for a while.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Best I can say is "it was ok". Not bad, not great. Service was definitely good and the restaurant is nice looking for sure, but the food was not amazing. I liked the Cesar salad, but the fish and chips were really underwhelming. Needed some seasoning on that fish. The scallops were also really visually appealing, but just short on flavor. We liked the peach cobbler ending though, and the crab and corn bisque. Expected a lot more flavor for the pr

Yelp
Amazing seafood in a very cool environment with excellent staff that made our team feel welcome.

Anthony N.

Yelp
Food is good. Happy hour great. Service on the second floor (multiple visits) clearly shows they have no system. Walk in you will see people waiting for a server to take an order or fill waters. The good news is if you like a fish fry they will meet your expectations . Drinks aren't cheap nor should they be on the water but the people bringing them should be more self aware. It was somewhat sad a black card clearly changed their approach. Too late!

Yelp
Service was good sushi was amazing tacos were okay sushi burrito was not good but overall a good experience

Yelp
Very disappointed. Was really looking forward to having a wonderful graduation dinner for my son with the family. First of all they sat us in the busiest part of the restaurant 9 of us. Would much rather sat on the patio with a view. Our waitress was kinda pushy fast talking and didn't ask us how we were doing instead of asking us to order she kept bringing bread which I didn't realize they charge for every basket. We much would have preferred our meal. Also she just kept pushing the drinks. We just wanted a nice meal. We talked to the manager and he switched our waitress. But that didn't really make it better. Just disappointed in a meal that was supposed to be really special because we as a big family don't go out much.

Yelp
My favorite weekend spot! Amazing service everyone treats us like family. Good crowd, great sushi and drinks.
