Cannon Hill Fish & Fries

This was my first time of trying Canons and I ordered Haddock and Chips. The haddock was amazing, great crispy batter and really white flesh. The chips were so tasty and plenty of them. Definitely recommend and I will go back soon.

The best fish & chips in North London. Fish is sustainably sourced. Fryed in rapeseed vegetable oil & they use seasonal potatoes which they peel & cut , none of the pre packed frozen chips! Generous portions,crispy & delicious 😋 Lovely service , eat in or takeaway.

Has to be the best quality fish and chips in London. First class fish always cooked to perfection. Good chip portions to, 1 regular size is enough for 2 people.

Just collected after a visit to this place for the first time for lunch today, as I live locally. Restaurant was full and for takeaway there was a queue. When I did get food and take home, it was hands down THE MOST AWFUL CHIPS I have ever tasted from a fish and chip shop. Brittle, pale, chewy, old stale taste and lifeless. A real disappointment and practically ruined the experience for me, my partner and her friend. A shame because the fish, scampi, fish cakes were decent. Reading the comments here, I see a previous reviewer has commented about exactly the same, and phoned them up to complain, whereby they were told it must be a bad variety of potato. It didn't fool them as they had kitchen restaurant experience. I have to agree with them that it seemed the chips had been cooked some time before, possibly even the night before. But I would add that this time, it could've been that they were undercooked due to them being busy. Order at your peril, but don't say I didn't warn you. I was fooled by the gentrified look of the place from the outside, which of course, is no guarantee of the experience you'll get from within.

This place stands out. They’ve clearly spent the money making themselves achieve that & as a seaside man traditional chips are hard to find in London. And they certainly aren’t here. I returned the first lot of chips asking them for a fresh batch as they were stale & hard. The lady said they were fresh. When I asked for a replacement I was just given reheated chips again. Not anything like traditional chips & not “fresh” so there maybe a misunderstanding of what fresh means, and I think it takes a seaside lad from England to point this out, the aftertaste was not nice and we threw most of them away. Sadly they cost £8

Really nice food. Made fresh so was still hot by the time we got home. Nice portion size.

Went here for the first time to sit down and eat for Father’s Day. The chips were brittle, pale, chewy, old stale taste and lifeless as another reviewer said and I’m just repeating there words because they were exactly like that. None of us ate them (see pictures). The amount of calamari rings we got for starters was the same amount for a main we got but once you add the chips and a bit of lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes it looks big. Lukewarm beer as well. They had a few items not available when placing an order so they could of at least take them of the menu temporarily. I am not a food critic but I have friends and family that work in this business so I know when I taste good fish and chips. It was literally tasteless.

My first meal in London was this place. I was definitely looking forward to a good fish and chips house, and this definitely filled my appetite for it. I ordered the cod while in the meantime my boyfriend has the haddock. Both were really good with just the right amount of batter. Service was decent as well!

I was very impressed by the food and the service, service being very friendly and efficient. The food was lovely; i had cod and my partner had grilled skate wing both cooked nicely. Normally from fish and chip shop/restaurants the fish comes pretty greasy but not from Cannock's! Fair portions and pricing is bit more expensive to eat in but defiantly worth it! Always seems busy, so thats a good sign.

My first fish and chips place on my first visit to the UK. Lovely place and outstanding fish! Cooked to order and piping hot. I enjoyed talking to the ladies behind the counter you were happy to educate this American on proper fish and chips. We laughed at each other's accents and I tried to explain the similarities between a battered sausage and an American corn dog. I believe they thoughts I was mad.

One of the best Fish & Chip shops I've ever been to. Fresh fish, light batter and chunky chips. Highly recommend
