7 Ridiculous New Minnesota State Fair Beer and Wine Flavors - Eater Twin Cities

"Cotton candy and sparkling Edelweiss wine sounds like a mega sugar hangover. There’s a cotton candy garnish to go with the infused wine just to gild the gag-inducing lily. 11% ABV." - Joy Summers

We held a small wedding shower in the tasting area. The staff was so helpful with the planning and set up of the event, especially Carie, the event coordinator. She always kept in contact with me and was on top of things with the food and drink orders. The staff was amazing at figuring out our needs and were flexible. The food food was wonderful and the wine was excellent. It was an enjoyable experience all around. I will be a customer going forward even though they are 40 minutes away. They are definitely worth the trip.

We had a lovely midafternoon Sunday stop here to try out the token flight and enjoy some food. The place was busy, but the service was fantastic. We enjoyed all of the wines that we tried, which came as a pleasant surprise, and even bought two bottles to take home. We also had the Lady Gaga garlic cheese bread naan and the Stevie Nicks chicken pesto pizza; there was a bit of a wait for the food, because the place was indeed busy, but what came out was absolutely delicious. We're already talking about doing another trip here to try more wines!

We had our wedding ceremony at the vineyard in Dennison, and our wedding reception at the winery on 10/4/2024. The vineyard and winery are both 2 beautiful & perfect properties, and made our wedding vision come true! Abby was phenomenal to work with! We truly appreciate her and her team for working with us to make our day special! Thank you again to the CRW staff ❤️

Google
It has a very open atmosphere, very spacious. I am not a huge wine drinker but the three kinds I tried were good. My wife who rarely drinks wine had two glasses of a sweet white that was recommended by the waitress. I had a Betty White sandwich and it was pretty good. We both enjoyed our time there

We had a great time on Saturday at Cannon River Winery! The space is adorable! They had fantastic live music from The Riddle Brothers, yummy wine and treats, and the service was great! We tried the token sampler which was great because we were able to try five different wines of our choice. Our server, Brianna, was super knowledgeable and attentive! I would highly recommend visiting here.

Lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon. A variety of good wines to try. Our group liked everything we tried. Food is limited, although it is somewhat customizable. While all the menu items include meat in some form, I was able to order a pita pizza without meat and my hubby had a salad without meat. Being gluten free is a bit tougher since almost everything is based on pita bread. Although a salad without the side of pita is an option. There was a live band doing cover tunes which was fun. Plenty of free parking on the street or in the parking lot next door. There are designated handicapped parking spots but managing the doors will require assistance.

Google
Pretty nice small town winery! The staffs are very friendly and helpful. It costs you small amounts and you can taste a couple of their breweries. What we had was very fruitful taste, mild for everyone. They have indoor and outdoor tables for you to enjoy yours leisurely... There is a big parking lot by the winery. Also, the Cannon River trail is right next. Very convenient if you prefer a walk after your wine taste.

Yelp
The wine selection has something for everyone to enjoy. One of our favorites, the Sparkle wine is a delicious and dry sparkling wine. If it is your first visit, there is a wine flight tasting to find your own favorites. The menu is filled with delicious and complimentary selections. I appreciate the exceptional table service with a friendly staff that always makes us feel right at home. Check the events calendar for fun and unique experiences and live weekend music.

Yelp
The patio mural was gorgeous and it was what immediately caught our eye. We were passing through and we had to take advantage of the beautiful weather. I like wine but not well versed so it was great that they listed from dry to sweet, and had all the flavors and notes in the description. We tried a flight and a glass of sparkle edelweiss. We both had flatbreads. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer for when it is ready and you pick it up. It was all great food and wine. I just knocked a star down because there wasn't much for vegetarian options which was a bit of a bummer. We did enjoy it all though!

Yelp
We stopped to pick up wine for Thanksgiving while we were in Cannon Falls. The cashier visited with the customer in front of me talking about recent vacations while I waited with four bottles of wine in my hands. When the customer in front of me finally moved to the side (didn't leave), the cashier kept her chatter going with her throughout my transaction as if I was not even there. As I was finishing the transaction, the customer (still off to my side) gave my shoulder a poke and told me I should join the wine club because it was a good deal. I just wanted to drop in and buy wine without listening to the cashier chat with someone else and without getting poked and told what to do by another customer. I've worked in retail years ago, and this would not have been an acceptable way to help customers. Next time I'll wait for my next trip into Rochester instead.

Yelp
Went in late after the Small Business Saturday for my birthday dinner. Really enjoyed the ambiance, enjoyed the food, the prices, and found a great favorite wine!! We became members and moved close to the area, so really excited to see how this relationship blossoms.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way to southern Minnesota. We had never been, but have seen the sign on the highway a million times and figured it was time to give it a try. The ambience is warm and welcoming. We were quickly greeted and walked through the various options, depending on our taste preferences. We each opted to try a flight and ordered a charcuterie board. The wines were very nice. Funny enough, we don't usually agree on a favorite, but we both decided that the Gunflint Pinot Gris was the best. While the charcuterie board was good, I didn't love how the only carb option was a warm naan bread. It's hard to spread Brie on, and didn't pair well with all of the options we chose. I was wishing for some cracker varieties instead.

Yelp
Visited on 10/5/22. This place is fun, pure and simple. Parking was easy, as it had a giant lot next to it. There was a fun event going on at the same time for the deer opener beginning this weekend so it was pretty busy and a cover band was playing. We were able to find a table fairly easily and were served within a few minutes. My sister and I each got flights/tasters of wine while my mom stuck with a glass. The three tasters were $10 altogether which felt like a great value for the amount you got. We also got the spice girls dip platter which was fun and we loved how the menu suggested pairings for the food with different wines. Overall I would be happy to come here again and would love to try it out in the summer.

Yelp
This place is the sh!! Do you enjoy red wines, but in between a Cabernet and a Zinfandel?

Yelp
My aunt brought us here & we definitely made an afternoon out of it. The owner & his employee are very nice & wioll answer any questions you may have. We tasted two three glass flites each of some of their reds like the Minnesota Nice, Fisty Bitch, & others; all with perfect notes of fruit, honey, smokiness etc. which all varied from wine to wine. For food, we shared a charcutery plate with chedar, brie, & dil cheeses with pruscuto, ham, & salami served with nahn &; everything was perfect; the nahn was done well. We each ordered the Judge Judy sandwich with tender pulled pork, apple slaw, & drunken cherries; definitely the best balance of sweet & salty on Hawaiian rolls. As for my mother & aunt's order, the owner gave them one sandwich on a large gluten free bun instead of two sliders which were not gluten free. I lovede the blend of music from oldies to op. My aunt ended up joining the wine club & we bought some wine for friends & family members. So, for wonderful wine & food in a casual atmosphere with friendly service in a casual atmosphere, Cannon Falls cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

Yelp
Must stop if you like wine. We sat ourselves and when busy we went to bar to order. Delicious food and wine. Beautiful drive from south metro area.

Yelp
I went to the Cannon winery with my niece which was the only good part of the experience. The server was a crabby lady, and the service, considering there was only two other tables in the entire place was horribly slow. The food was probably some of the worst food I've eaten in 10 years. We waited probably a half hour for lukewarm chicken wild rice soup, which was the worst chicken wild rice soup I've ever had in my life. It was watery. I took two spoonfuls and I was done. My niece had these little pulled pork sandwiches. She offered me one of hers and it was OK, but again lukewarm~ the buns were not toasted. The meat pretty much looked like cat vomit but It tasted OK... The best part of the meal was my grilled naan which came with my soup... Like a few other reviewers have mentioned, when told that the food wasn't that good, the server just blew it off.. Am I going to argue about a bowl of soup that cost seven dollars? Absolutely not. Did I tell her it was the worst bowl of soup I've ever had and it was barely warm? I did not..She knew I hardly ate any of it because she took note of it. She said you didn't like the soup? I just said no I didn't, and I left it at that. Overall, if it were not for my niece living in this town, I would never ever step foot in this place ever again. I don't know why people like it. Maybe it's because there's not hardly anything else in that town, but take the extra drive and go elsewhere. I did not taste the wine... maybe that's the High Point but even still, service was terrible. Ambience was not good either. Just avoid it.

Yelp
In Fall of 2018- I attended one of their Fall Harvest Event and loved the whole experience. The harvest leader was very knowledgeable about the grapes and the process they took to become wine. Loved spending a Saturday afternoon with my closest friends getting good exercise and then drinking delish wine and food. I was most surprised by the quality of the food they served us- creamy pasta and delicious sides. Currently costs $25- which is a steal because the memories and food I had far exceed that cost! Hope to get back for the Fall 2021 Harvest.

Yelp
my frifriend said the service is slow and the food is terrible. I won't wsste my time going her

Yelp
This fall, we visited the Cannon River Winery after golfing at the Cannon Golf Club. I like this winery very much. The service was helpful and knowledgeable about the wine. I decided on a bottle of Feisty Bitch rose. This week I popped the cork. It was very nice. Light, feisty, smooth...and as the bottle says, 'bitch less. Wine more'. The winery is an old brick building with lots of character. There was a live band playing and the place was packed. The upstairs was set up for a wedding which added to the crowd (I peeked at the set up, it was beautiful). We sat on a table on the sidewalk outside to enjoy the late afternoon. I ordered a glass of red but was tempted to try a flight to get a taste of several wines. My only ask would be if they could get a few items on a menu, even a cheese and cracker tray. Some food is available in a refrigerator but not the same as a small menu.

Yelp
Fun little day trip with my husband, and we stopped along the way at this winery. It was nestled downtown in a beautiful building. We did a quick tasting, and the lady who helped us was very knowledgeable about the different wines. We liked quite a few of them, and ended up buying a bottle to take home.

L S.

Yelp
I meet a friend here every couple of months. The service has been good...until today. First of all, the FLIES were horrible due to the open doors in the front of the restaurant. I ordered the only salad on their menu, which, unfortunately was composed of greens, very little feta and (literally) microscopic pieces of chicken...for $11. I questioned/complained about it with the server who brought it out to our table. She completely ignored me and walked away. Our table continued to be ignored by the fairly large wait staff for the better part of an hour, until I called the shift supervisor over to explain my dissatisfaction. She removed the salad from the table and from my bill. We will not be returning. Step it up on your staff!

Yelp
Been several times and only had the meat and cheese boards along with a wine flight, but the choices are excellent. The staff is incredible. Knowledgeable about the wines and the winery. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and very pleasant. We will have a glass, have an appetizer, and play a board game from their collection of old school games.

Yelp
Fun place to visit and taste wine. They have flights available so you can taste more then one. Great staff and food, worth a visit for sure. Try the sparking edelweiss you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I was surprised by how big this winery is nestled in a sidestreet of Cannon Falls. Nice space for events, lots of things on their calendar. Good list of wines to choose from. We like their GoGo Red. I usually stop to grab a bottle or two when in the area, we will have to come down and do a sampling or come for an event eventually. Prices are not bad from other private wineries we have been too. Fun little place to have a drink and play a table game or chat.

Sara S.

Yelp
Really bad noise problem in here; you can't hear yourself think not the live music! The wine is terrible, too. I'm not sure why people were buying it; none of us liked any of the wines.

Yelp
This was the perfect stop for a nice fall afternoon in Cannon Falls. There is a great Bike trail (peddle not Harley although this is a great area for that as well) that begins and ends in Cannon Falls and after a little exploring we stumble in the doors of this place. What a find, great welcoming group of very knowledgeable people when it comes to the wines they make and this wonderful liquid in general. They have different set-ups for tastings of all the wines that they make there and all very reasonable in price. They have plenty of room, tours and great hospitality...add to that the German guy playing drinking songs and its a good time. They have a wide range of wines for many tastes. For my taste they only had a couple of reds that I really loved but they did have a couple and it was such a great time with such great service I will stop in again. Great thing to do while venturing out from the city for a nice fall afternoon! KT

Yelp
This winery in beautiful Cannon Falls. There are many great places to eat and trails and other fun outdoorsy things to do down here. We are also members of the Cannon River Winery. We have several great wines whether you like whites or reds. If you belong to the wine club there are several perks. The wine pick-up days are fun, you get to meet a lot of nice people and they often have live music. We like this winery a lot. The only thing this winery doesn't have is food. They WILL allow you to bring food in or have it delivered to you from many nearby restaurants, we like to get pizza from Dudley's, there is also Mill Street Tavern across the street with good food, an ice cream and cheese shop next to them and there is also a Tillion Brewery to make you beer loving friends happy. This year we even participated in the Fall Harvest Grape picking event. This winery also makes the wine for St Paul's famous Mancini's restaurant. You should check it our and if you decide to join, tell them that Jim Larson sent you and i will get a free bottle of wine!! Enjoy all of my pictures.

Linda B.

Yelp
Great menu and wine selection. They write down the name of the wine on a sheet unlike some other wineries I've been to where you hope your memory works. Only wish they had a patio.

Yelp
We love this winery because all of the wines white to red all are outstanding. The service has always been good and the prices have always been good as well. This is a great local winery that serves outstanding wines. If you are in the area of Cannon Falls I recommend stopping in to Cannon Falls winery to check out their wines and their selection of gifts and other items. This is truly an experience that you will enjoy. On the weekends they have a lot of live entertainment as well as other activities in the winery. There's a great place across the street to grab some lunch if you are hungry. Place also has an event center above the winery that you can rent and have a nice get together. Please stop by and check out the Cannon Falls winery also signt up for their email promotions. This is an outstanding Minnesota winery

Harry M.

Yelp
We were in the area for a family reunion, and had a free afternoon, so we decided to drive up here to spend some time in the tasting room. Started with flights of one white, one rose, and one red, then decided to each get a glass of the one we liked best. Three of the four of use liked the Rose the best among the ones we had in our flight. I would classify the Rose as off-dry. Not sweet, but not especially dry, either. Light and crisp, it's good for sipping on its own. It was worth the trip, and we'd consider coming back next time we're in the area if we have some free time.

Yelp
This is the 4th time I've been here. I paid for the privilege of picking grapes in fall of 2014 and 2015. Besides free labor you get a lunch and 20% discount on wines plus wine tasting and tank testing in spring. Now the wines. I like their 7th Street white made for Mancini's in St Paul. I also like the Nuevo which they aren't producing this year. The Go Go Red is sweet but good also Sogn Blush and Sparking Edelweiss is very good. The winery in downtown Cannon Falls has good music and wine tasting. There is cheese and crackers to purchase if you desire. This place should offer small plates or tapas. Flatbread pizzas I think would go over well. 4/5 for two bathrooms. Grape picking this year a was poor due to powdery mildew caused by the weather. The vineyard and winery would be great for a wedding and bachelorette gathering. I will probably be back in Spring to taste our final product.
google avatar

Lorraine N.

Yelp
Please clean up the fly graveyard in your front window. I just don't see any excuse for not cleaning the front window sills prior to opening if you have people coming in to sip and enjoy their wine. There were at least 100 dead ones last week. At least they were dead so I give you credit for that. This is a large place actually and they have several selections available. This is not the vineyard just a building so you will not be sitting and looking out over vines. I would not go out of my way to visit this winery but there is not much in Cannon Falls.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
We love Cannon River Winery!! 12tastings for $12, great price! They do have other tasting options, but our group went for their biggest. The staff is super nice and friendly, they even showed us their event space, we had a great time! I would defiantly take a group of friends with me to go back again. An I will be online ordering wine when my four bottles I bought run out. We didn't care for the super sweet wines, but what a selection! :) I finally found a Rose I love! Their Italian style rose, I think it's called Rosella. Yum! Also, bought their Ice Wine, Sparkling Wine and Cannon River Red. Can't wait to get these home to San Diego, an share them with my husband.

Yelp
Made a trip to the winery for the Three Rivers Wine Trail "Tap the Barrel" event. They had the wine maker on hand sampling red wine from the barrel and answering any of our questions. We did the full tasting and had an excellent staff member serving our wine. The wine tasting area is cute, but make sure to drive out to the vineyard, which is a few miles away. The vineyard is amazing. It's up on a hill with a great view and you can wander throughout the grape vines. I will definitely be back to the winery in the fall.

Yelp
There are many different components to this review. First I will start by saying we stopped in on a Tuesday around 1:30/2pm. It took around 15 mins to have someone actually help us because apparently only one person works the actual money and tasting room. We were asked if we needed help but then told we had to wait for someone. At that moment, we were patient and looked at all the things they sold. Then, the person who could help us proceeded to. She, at first, not very pleasant. She seemed overwhelmed and was not afraid to show it. Then we paid for our tastings and I asked if we could just stand at the bar because we had been driving while and I actually really enjoy standing bars. She very firmly told me no and to sit down at a table. We got our wines and began to enjoy. She then lightened up as other customers entered. By the end, she was so chatty. Even then, I was not completely impressed with the service. Now on the wine... Most wineries are filled with sweet wine which this place did have more sweet than dry. With that, all the dry wines we tried we liked a lot. We ended up buying four bottles. They had a smoky dry red that impressed me. It was different from any wine I have had and was a decent price (16 I believe) for a bottle. Will go very well with a steak. All in all, it might have been an off day. The place was nice, looked like it had live music on the weekends and an event space upstairs. Cute town to drive through and the wine and atmosphere is worth the stop.

Yelp
We tend to be a bit selfish about wedding venues. We always want the most efficient staff and the most opportunities for photography gold possible. Cannon River Winery delivers on all of those and more. Weddings there are a breeze. Brides love the organization, guests love the atmosphere and it is truly magic for a wedding day.

Cathy V.

Yelp
Great service with lots of guidance in selecting wines if you need/want it. Delicious wines served in a lovely storefront. Well worth the trip!
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
The wine was ok but the ambiance was the part that I did not care for. There simply was not enough space to seat everyone and the bar was extremely small. The staff was friendly but did not seem as knowledgable about the wine and I felt a little rushed as we were completing our tasting.
google avatar

Dg S.

Yelp
Came in with a group of 4. The ambiance is nice and relaxing. The wines are just ok. Staff was polite and friendly with the exception of one woman who was rude. No reason to go back.
google avatar

Bill A.

Yelp
Great wine tasting have fun there we did as well! Try the gun flint gris and the family reserve!
google avatar

Tia H.

Yelp
This place was quaint. I did buy my wife a Feisty Bitch shirt which we thought was awesome, but the wines were not too great. My party and I only each liked one or two of what we tried out of about 10 different types. We love wine tasting but this place was a slight letdown for us.
google avatar

Theresa M.

Yelp
Great winery. I love the tasting room. It has lots of different corners and places to be. They had live music today and he was pretty good. Make sure you get a bottle of mill street red. It's become my favorite stand by wine! Staff is very warm And welcoming and seem to know their wine well.
google avatar

Kristi C.

Yelp
I've struggled over the years to find any Minnesota wines that I like. On my first visit to Cannon River Winery, I struck gold. Here's what I discovered, through some sampling, I like their sweeter wines. The staff was friendly and willing to pour us samples to try. If you know someone who enjoys their wine on the sweeter side, I recommend the GoGo Red, the Apple Wine or a Sogn Blanc.
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
We stopped here after our snowshoeing hike. There were several pairings of red and white wine but I only liked one. Plus, we were given oyster crackers as snack. The last one we had dark chocolate which was nice. Overall, this has potential but I was not a big fan of the wine selection.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
I am a bot of a wine snob. I don't always get excited about MN wines. My friend recommended that we stop at Cannon River on our way to LaCrosse and I know he is pretty picky too, so we took his advice. So happy we did! We did two flights of three each. Every one of the wines was one that I would happily drink more of. We narrowed our purchases down to two, but it was not an easy decision! If you like a NZ Sauv Blanc, get the St Pepin. It is fantastic. Great recommendation from the very savvy staff. The tasting room is lovely. Lots of dark wood, but still nice and open. You can walk around to get a closer look at the barrels and vats and they had some of their grapes out to taste/buy since they were about to crush. They had the tables set up for a special event, but there was plenty of room at the bar and the tables in the tasting area. This would be a fun place to bring a group. We didn't have time to go out to the vineyards, but I have a feeling we will be back to do that and maybe catch a live music night.
google avatar

Emily O.

Yelp
What a great place! We visited the winery with Living Social Coupon for two free wine flights (three samples each) that was integrated with our stay @ the Quill & Quilt Bed & Breakfast. We walked in to the beautiful space, and loved it immediately. Large open space, dark wood, & quaint, intimate tables to sip wine :) We decided to do a full tasting before commiting to our flights. We learned that most of the wines are named after family members of the winery (grandmothers) & that the Cannon River Winery produces wine for the wonderful Mancini's in DT St. Paul & for the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Who knew? The staff @ the Winery were absolutely amazing. We enjoyed our tasting & our flights of wine to the tune of live acoustic music &, wait for it, FREE FOOD!!!! The winery features free food & live music on Fridays, serving up an assortment of meats, cheeses, crackers, Greek & Mexican pastries, Greek chicken skewers, & cilatantro-lime beef skewers. YUM! We enjoyed every minute of our experience @ the Cannon River Winery. We even took a few bottles of deliciousness home! Thank you! We will be back!

Yelp
If you don't like sweet wines don't come here. I had a sampling of their driest white, red, and blushing wine and they were all much too sweet for me. If you do like sweet wines do come. It's a very pretty establishment in a very cute town and has a great ambiance. They have a few Minnesota grown varietals (Frontenac, Marquette, Yes!) and a bunch of juice shipped in from California (not a fan).
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
This place is a gem. If you go on a weekend during the day it'll likely be hoppin' and you might even be able to listen to some live music. The decor is beautiful, and it's easy to feel any worries you had before you arrived just float away as you sip wine in good company. It is a great atmosphere. The wines are delicious, the staff is fabulous and the place is beautiful. Cannon River doesn't sell a lot of food, but they do have some yummy cheese and crackers for purchase. If you get an opportunity to go out to the vineyard on a nice day - do it. It is incredible. Set upon a hill, you have an amazing view. It's beautiful. If you live in the cities, this is a really easy drive, so I encourage you to take a day trip out to Cannon Falls!

Yelp
Visited for a tasting on Friday afternoon, 2 in my group and we had a very bad experience. We used a passport for 1 $6 tasting, and purchased the other one. There was only 1 woman working in the entire winery. After she rang us up, she served us our first tasting and then told us we needed to sit down. For one, we were on a motorcycle and wanted to stand for a bit, and for two, tastings don't take very long at all so I'm not going to sit down, drink the tasting, then have to carry both glasses, our tasting sheet and our chips back to the counter 5 times. So, we just slid to the end of the tasting bar. For our second tasting, the woman criticized our choices, saying that we should each pick something different and share vs each getting the same tasting. Um, mind your own business. Then, while we were drinking our second tasting, a line formed over at the bottle buying counter. The woman went over to help those customers, and we waited for about 10 min and then handed our tasting chips over to the other 2 people that hadn't been helped yet at the tasting bar, and left. Side note - they also have crazy $$ pre made bistro boxes, or they sell you an 8oz block of cheese and a box of crackers and give you a plate and a knife - which is just weird. We've been to almost all of the wineries in MN & WI, and we've had much better experiences almost everywhere else.

Yelp
As far as Minnesota wineries goes, this was good. However, it is a "winery store," not a winery. The best thing they has was an ice wine--quite sweet, but an intense flavor. $40 for 375 ml! We got a bottle to share some time, but I could buy a decent vintage port at that price per volume. The other wines I might buy at $8 to $10, but not the $15 to $25 they were selling for. I appreciate they're from Minnesota, but that doesn't really make them worth twice the money.

Yelp
Good location and nice venue. Our sever was not engaging at all. We purchased wine passports for $50. She was in a hurry to get our order and to direct us to go drink it at a table although no one else was there at the time. Upon checkout she was more interested in selling club memberships than seeing how our experience was...t

Yelp
The Cannon River Winery is by far the most easily accessible for those of use that live in the Southeast Metro and is worth a visit for a litany of reasons. First, the tasting room is a quick trip down 52 and only about a mile off the highway. Plenty of parking in the big surface lot for all the other businesses in the area as well as next to the building itself that if I believe correctly used to be a garage in the past. It is also situated almost perfectly at the beginning of the Cannon River Trail and makes for a great way to reward yourself after a day of pedaling. Second, the wines themselves. There is a focus on sweeter wines, but these aren't of the cloying variety that people tend to associate with sweet. There are plenty of drier options if that is more to your liking. The "star" of the offering is the Go Go Red. After years of going to the tasting room and running into it at winetastings in the area I've heard it billed repeatedly as the red wine for those that say they don't like red wine. That is very accurate. My mother does not like red wine (and will tell you that loudly) but she loved this when we took her there. The Gunflint Red is also a nice place to jump off into the world of reds if you don't have much experience. Not as sweet as the Go Go Red, but also not the mess of tannins that people come to dislike about red. If whites are your thing then by all means give the St. Pepin a try. It has notes very similar to Sauvignon Blanc (my favorite type of white wine). The Lorraine's White is good is you prefer Reislings. There is something on their offerings that you will like. I've had them all and the only thing I didn't much care for was the Apple Wine, but thats more of a personal taste preference. Its still the most drinkable grouping of wines I've encountered in Minnesota. Its a nice space, small but roomy (if that makes sense). Good live music and nice staff. I wish they would add a pizza oven or some small plates or even open themselves up to the occasional food truck. It would be a great fit in my mind. Even so its a great way to spend a hour or so if you are in the area and also worth it if you are checking off your list of Minnesota wineries one at a time. I like it a lot.

Yelp
This was our second stop on my daughter's 21st birthday winery tour and while it's a winery, it was more of a bar atmosphere. We shared a flight of 3 wines. They were ok, not as good as the first place but ok. Might not come back but perhaps we might.
